    how the Pho came packaged
    Maisune E.

the meat pho was delicious. didn't feel like going out to pawtucket for pho horns so we got this take out on a weekend. loved how it was assembled for ease of combining. wish there were more limes i think and something else in the broth. but still fab quality meat and flavor. servers were swift and kind. the inside is cute but it was really humid the day we went. maybe when it's colder we would sit in. next time i'm gonna try their thai food since that's what they're named after! also the nime chow slapped and was humongous

At first glance, you don't see much from Elmwood Ave, but veer to the right and everything opens up on the left, with a parking lot in the back. Ornate statues lead you to the entrance, and once inside you are instantly greeted with bold colors and beautiful art everywhere. I wanted to take the opportunity to try some Cambodian food, so after some quick research, I opted for Beef Lok Lak, which happened to be one of the lunch combos. I chose fried rice and nime chow for my lunch options and settled back to wait for my feast. They bring you a complementary pot of hot tea, which I enjoyed. I believe it was a straightforward unsweetened black tea. Perfect for me. Before long the rangoons arrived. I literally said "wow" when the runner set my plate down. Beautiful golden brown, small bubbles visible all over the outside, promising crispy goodness. And it delivered. What I didn't expect what the slight chewiness to the wrapper that enhanced the experience. The filling was super creamy and delicious, but I prefer my rangoons with scallions as well. However, that didn't stop me from enjoying every bite. Then my lunch came. The beef was perfectly cooked, the dressing tangy and peppery. The nime chow was herby and super fresh as it should be. And the rice had this extra depth of flavor that made me think of tomato paste? A lovely addition the dish. I had a great meal here and the rangoons are definitely worth having! I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more of their menu!!

I got my 'usual' order from when it was the prior ownership/management and have to say I was less than impressed. I ordered spring rolls which have a large portion size (6 large rolls) which are much larger than the prior owners but the taste is just mainly of cabbage and oil. Not much flavor and they seemed to be a little dense/soggy with oil. The crab rangoons were made with imitation crab meat and had curry, not really any crab flavor. They seemed to use a thin premade wrapper. I also got pad thai which was okay. It was a bit on the mushy side. Flavor was okay but it just didn't seem to have the same fresh, clean quality as prior recipe. Tasted similar to a lot of other thai restaurants, which may not be a bad thing I guess. Finally I ordered drunken noodles for lunch the next day. These did not come spicy at all but instead came with a chili sauce on the side. The noodles themselves were really thick and gummy and bunched up (kind of a squareish size) rather than long ribbons. There was just almost no flavor to this dish and the flavor was just fish sauce or something similar. No complexity or layers of flavor. Very one dimensional. Overall, for the higher price it was relatively disappointing.

Ordered the papaya salad, drunken noodles, pad thai, and thai tea (with jelly) for two people. Everything tasted really good. We got the papaya salad spicy, and it was appropriately spicy for a Thai restaurant! The thai tea was sweet (as this drink often is), but had that tinge of bitterness that I like from good thai teas. Everything tasted great: well-seasoned, not too sweet/salty/oily. I would recommend everything we ordered. We had some leftovers to take home. On our takeout order, we got the pad thai, pad see eiw, and Thai fried rice. Everything was packaged nicely and was still hot when we got home. I thought the quality of the pad thai was the same quality as when we sat down to eat. I also like the flavors of it and appreciate that they didn't have a side cup of fish sauce to add. Good! You're the chef, you tell me how it should taste and I can judge afterwards. My judgement: It's really yummy pad thai, probably my favorite. Parking is easy if it's not too crowded; there are spots immediately behind the restaurant. 4 stars because I am very happy to be a repeat customer. This might be an unfair opinion, but I wished the portion size was a bit bigger (although, I would not want the quality to go down as a result).

The food took awhile to get to us but we weren't in a rush. Plus, it meant that everything was being made very fresh, which our food very much was. The scallion pancakes weee perfectly crispy and flaky, and were really quite good. The papaya salad also had all the fine flavors. Everyone also enjoyed the dumplings. I think the pineapple fried rice could have been more fragrant and I was disappointed that the yellow curry wasn't as sweet, or as fragrant as I'm used to, but it was still really good stuff. But I'm glad the curry came with rice and that we didn't have to place extra orders there. Overall I'm really glad we settled on this Thai place - it was really quite good and the prices were very reasonable. They also made it very easy for us to pay by keeping separate tabs for each family. And it was nice they have a private parking lot as well so you don't have to park your car in the street. I definitely recommend this place. The place is well decorated, clean, and has a good amount of tables for various customers.

We checked in with the host on the first floor, but she escorted us to the second floor to be seated. I always liked that this restaurant seems to be a small house converted into a restaurant since it literally makes me feel at [someone's] home. We were given QR codes to scan for the menu; not my favorite. I overheard another table ask for paper menus, so it appears there is that option. For a starter, we ordered handmade lamb dumplings and for entrees, original meefen and lamb on dry land with a side of white rice. It all ended up coming out around the same time and the tables are a little small so it felt like an overwhelming amount of food, but it was actually the perfect amount for two people. The lamb dumplings were flavorful, albeit, the wrappers were a tad too soft. The original meefen was very tasty, especially the minced meat. However, the uden noodles don't do a great job of absorbing sauces, so it felt like a lot of the oils and flavor were left behind. The lamb on dry land was good, but it was difficult to eat especially two people. We didn't realize it would be meat on a stick, similar to a turkey leg but less meaty. We ended up eating the easy parts, but took the bone home to finish out of the public eye. The crispy potatoes on top were my friend's favorite. The total was about $50 which was fair. Our waiter and other staff members did an excellent job of getting us all we needed and clearing plates as we finished. Their official website is one of the coolest I have seen since it includes audio and images, but I wish it had a description of what each item is, just like their in restaurant menu QR code.
