Service was friendly and helpful, and ambiance is casual, as this is a shop meant for selecting and picking up your goodies rather than lingering for eating onsite. The original cheesetella was so fluffy and light - the kind of Castella that is airy and delicious, and definitely not too sweet. The cheesecake was creamy and a bit more rich. When I go out of my way to post on Yelp, it's usually to highlight exceptional service. Unfortunately, this review is for the opposite reason. I'm sure the cakes here are exceptional, but I can't comment on something I never had the opportunity to try. I don't live in Irvine and had been wanting to visit this bakery for quite some time. On 9/6/26, I arrived around 6:15 p.m., ready to buy one of each cake and a drink for the drive home. I was disappointed to see "Sold Out" signs over the Cremetella and Cheesetella. The two female employees confirmed they were sold out as I expressed my disappointment. As I stood there deciding what else to order, I overheard one employee offer to make a Cremetella. Before she could do so, the other employee responded, "No, that's okay." I was genuinely surprised. If making one was simple enough for an employee to offer, I couldn't understand why another employee would immediately decline the opportunity to help a paying customer. My daughters and I were the only customers in the bakery at the time, so there wasn't a rush or long line to manage. I waited for a moment, thinking perhaps she would reconsider and provide the kind of customer service that turns a disappointing situation into a positive experience. Instead, she continued cleaning and never acknowledged the opportunity to assist me. At that point, I decided the bakery didn't deserve my business. I had already spent time driving there, only to discover that an employee was willing to help while another chose not to. The issue wasn't that an item had sold out--popular bakeries sell out all the time. The issue was the lack of willingness to accommodate a customer when a solution appeared to be available. With so many excellent bakeries in Irvine and the surrounding areas, I prefer to support businesses that value customer service and make an effort to create a positive experience for their customers. read more

The cake at Cheesetella was fluffy, chocolatey, and delicious--a great treat that we really enjoyed. Unfortunately, I'd rate the customer service 2 out of 5. My spouse asked about a Dubai matcha tea, which wasn't on the menu, and the cashier's reaction felt dismissive and belittling. We felt uncomfortable simply for being unfamiliar with the offerings. Later, when I asked for forks, the cashier stared at me for several seconds without saying anything, which made the interaction feel awkward and unwelcoming. We loved the cake, and a little more patience and friendliness from the staff would have made the overall experience much better. read more

Came all the way from corona in hopes to try out their famous original cheesecake that keeps popping up on my IG account. but unfortunately they're already sold out!! So I purchased two big ass pieces of their chocolate and original cake. the owner was super nice. Told me the next time call she couldn't believe that drove so far she did give me some urb cheesecake to try out it was delicious creamy spongy at the same time you just have to come out and try it for yourself. Tried Cheesetella for the first time today with my nephew after seeing a few TikToks. We ordered on the iPad to get our goodies to-go. I was surprised by how many things were showing out of stock already and it was about 12pm. I can tell this place is busy! We got 1 regular Cheesetella and 1 regular Cheesecake. I think the Cheesetella was good, light, airy, and the cream inside was my favorite. I would love some kind of topping though, because it was a little plain and somewhat dry. I'd love the ability to choose a topping like, strawberry, chocolate, or event Nutella! The Cheesecake was also good and tastes much more like eggs than a typical cheesecake. I had seen cheesetella and their japanese inspired cheesecakes all over my fyp and so i decided to give it a try. i got their korean latte, original castella, cheesetella, and ube cheesecake (MY FAVORITE ONE) and it was soooo good. even though it looks super heavy, the fluffiness and the ingredients for the cakes makes it a super duper light dessert! the workers here were so nice and you could tell that these cheesecakes were truly made with intention! there isn't that much seating (2 outdoor seating areas) but i think overall, it's still super worth it. the store was clean and very cute. i highlyyy recommend coming here!! read more

I originally just had a craving and wanted to go buy a cake--specifically heading there for the *Greenteatella*--but the owner told me it's only available on weekends . Instead, he recommended the *Creamtella* and their matcha beverages. I was absolutely blown away; who would have thought that *Cheesetella's matcha drinks would be this delicious?! There is a wide selection of matcha drinks available in-store. The owner mentioned that they use high-quality matcha (I'm guessing he meant ceremonial grade?), and he even showed me their preparation process--specifically how they whisk it to achieve that smooth, "mirror-like" finish! Matcha Einspanner Personally, I prefer this kind of simple flavor profile: matcha blended with a rich, thick cream topping. It offers a satisfyingly subtle tea aroma with every sip--a true delight for any matcha enthusiast! Strawberry Matcha w/ Pistachio Cream If you love strawberries and enjoy sweet flavors, you'll likely enjoy this one. However, since I'm not personally a huge fan of the combination of strawberry jam and matcha, I felt just "okay" about it--though it is a tasty drink! The pistachio cream topping definitely earns some extra points here! Creamtella The combination of cream and cake gave me a whole new appreciation for their pastries. The cream perfectly counteracts the cake's tendency to be a bit dry; together, they make for a truly perfect pairing! You absolutely *must* give this a try!! It gets a huge thumbs-up from me! Chocotella This one is fairly standard and straightforward. The small chocolate pieces add a nice textural element, and the flavor is a definite plus--especially if you're a chocolate lover! However, the cake itself leans a bit toward the drier side--much like their original plain flavor (which is why I still highly recommend going for the versions with added cream!) To be honest, the first time I tried their cakes, I wasn't particularly impressed. Later, I saw posts suggesting that heating them up before eating makes them taste much better. But this time, the *Creamtella* truly blew me away, completely changing my opinion of the brand. And the matcha drinks are just the icing on the cake! The owner is genuinely a wonderful person--so friendly and enthusiastic! Since it's just him and one other employee working in the shop, making the drinks takes a little time, so please be patient! ^_^ read more

My boyfriend who lives in the area brought my sisters and I to give them a try while we are visiting from Texas. The cakes were phenomenal, so jiggly light and spongy. Perfect level of sweetness and compared to other castella cakes we have had, these were airy and light without any dryness. We got the Chocotella, Cheesetella and the cheesecake. For drinks we got the sparkling yuzu ade, mango matcha and cinnamon white mocha latte. Everything was absolutely delicious, especially pairing a bite with the cake and sipping our drinks. If you are on a diet, do not try Cheesetella because you'll be hooked from the first bite. It's a rainbow cloud on the palate. Made a bit of a mistake here on our recent visit. We ordered an ube cheesecake and the creamtella, thinking that the ube cheesecake would be big and good for sharing and that the creamtella would be just a single slice. The ube cheesecake was a full cake but kind of tiny and the creamtella was this big massive hunk of spongey cake and cream. Oops. More leftovers for us! But, hopefully we can help some others avoid making our mistake. To her credit, I think the woman working the cash register tried to tell me because I ordered a small creamtella slice and she said they're only one size...I just didn't know how massive that was! The ube cheesecake (my pick) was delightful although my companions thought it wasn't sweet enough. The creamtella (my husband's pick) was a tad sweeter and the cream was nice and light and fluffy. After going to the Pilates studio next door for a while, I'm so glad to have finally tried this little bake shop. It was my friend's first time ever having a black sesame dessert. It was so good, we both really enjoyed it. It was so perfect and just hit the spot! The red bean, mochi, and almonds with the black sesame bingsoo all went together spectacularly. Such an amazing taste experience. Hui Lau Shan is a Hong Kong-based dessert chain heavily devoted to mango, which is immediately apparent from the display case filled with glossy dessert mannequins identified by little tags like "J3 Pomelo & Mango with Sago." The place knows its constituency. If mango is your religion, this is at minimum a chapel. The Irvine location itself is remarkably unpretentious: cracked, slightly sticky-looking concrete floors, deafening music that sounded approximately 15 years past its cultural sell-by date, and a youthful crowd containing several people whose legs appeared skinnier than my fingers. I felt less like a customer and more like an archaeological specimen temporarily admitted for observation. Being the radical nonconformist that I am, I came to a mango dessert shop and ordered the watermelon with coconut jelly. On a hot Irvine day, it was excellent -- cold, clean, refreshing and just sweet enough. 5/5. The little yellow Hui Lau Shan spoon, complete with cheerful fruit-headed mascot, provided an additional level of emotional support I did not know dessert utensils were capable of. We also had the J3 Pomelo & Mango with Sago, which arrived as mango, pomelo, sago and a scoop of mango ice cream lounging together in a bowl like wealthy relatives at a resort. Also 5/5. Cold enough to initiate a brain freeze, but on this particular evening brain activity had already been reduced considerably by KBBQ, so little was lost. The ordering system is straightforward: your receipt gives you an order number and server name, and the display samples make choosing fairly idiot-resistant. Ours even identified the J3 and the watermelon dessert clearly enough that no graduate degree in tropical fruit studies was required. There was, however, one melancholy resident inside the display case: a small bee apparently trapped behind the plastic among the immaculate fake desserts. Outside, Irvine remained warm and prosperous. Inside, mangoes glistened. The young remained young. The bee contemplated mortality. Los Angeles throws pollution into the atmosphere at rush hour; Hui Lau Shan throws mango into essentially everything else. A very good dessert stop after an irresponsibly large meal. I had placed an order for a cheese castella through Uber Eats, only to learn that they had run out of the item I requested. To make matters more difficult, a temporary power outage meant they weren't sure when a new batch could be made. Despite the circumstances, the owner went above and beyond to make things right. He kindly offered to send me two complimentary items if I chose an alternative order. To my surprise and delight, not only did he include two delicious complimentary treats, but he also added a coffee--completely free of charge. I was really looking forward to trying this bakery but unfortunately, the customer service completely ruined the experience for me. When I walked in, no one greeted me or even acknowledged my presence. The staff looked annoyed and impatient, as if I was bothering them just by being there. I asked a simple question about one of the bread, and the response was cold and dismissive. There was no smile, no basic courtesy, and I felt extremely uncomfortable the whole time. To me, the ice cream and drink tasted more on the artificial(?) side, like either powder or syrups were used to make them rather than fresh ingredients. Service was REALLY, and I mean REALLY quick. I literally ordered at the kiosk, turned around, and my order was called. It was quite impressive! Overall, the drinks and soft serve aren't terrible. The matcha soft serve tastes kind of like the matcha snacks in the grocery store (my friend compared the taste to a matcha kitkat). If you're looking for a quick, inexpensive sweet treat, give the place a try! ... but if you're looking for something more flavorful or of better tasting quality, I wouldn't exactly come to Mixue.

It is noticeable as you're entering the shopping center and it is on the right hand side. It is around the corner from CVS. When the sweet tooth cravings hit or when you just need a little pick me up, Mixue could fulfill those needs. It was super hot and I needed a cold beverage. There are two self-serve tablets available. I came late in the afternoon and there was only one other customer there. There were about three employees working there, and none of them were friendly or paying attention to me or the other Customer. It's like they purposely tried to avoid eye contact so they wouldn't have to engage. My order came out pretty quick. I got the coconut mango and taro drink and milk tea Boba to go. My drink was nothing that spectacular. It didn't have the same quality compared to other local places I've tried recently before. It was a pretty good value. However, I'd be willing to pay a couple more dollars for a more satisfying delicious drink elsewhere. I'd be open to trying other items on their menu.

The crunchy popcorn chicken was great and the seafood porridge was warm and flavorful, though the spicy pork and shrimp wontons were just okay and hit a bit too spicy. The drink section is fantastic: it's self-serve with tons of boba and tea options, and they even give you sample cups to try flavors first! You order the drink and desired toppings at the counter, you then select your drink, go back to the counter and seal your cup. Both the watermelon and winter melon juice(s) were hit-the-spot refreshing. I've had their snow dessert at another location in the past and they're excellent! You pick out your toppings, they give you a cup and you fill it with your choice of drink before they seal it for you. We also ordered food. We got the Taiwanese sausage, pork belly rice, popcorn chicken and spicy wontons. See pics. We came on a Saturday at opening time and it got crowded soon after. Will definitely be back when in the OC.
