I was coerced to leave one star. Upon entry, the greeting staff made me feel like me, my wife, and 3 children were an inconvenience. I was quickly seated and greeted by a very pleasant and attentive waiting staff member. My wife's meal was ice cold brought out to her, along with my kids fries. My food was good. I ordered the salmon. My wife's chicken fried steak was over cooked and her mash potatoes was cold. Cheddars is one of my favorite restaurants, however, I would not recommend this location. To top it off, I actually recommended to my wife that we go to cheddars with the kids to celebrate her birthday. read more

This place was good! It was a bit packed and it was hit and miss with the items. I can say that their steak was good as well as the service with the a exception that the waitress didn't ask if it was our first time or if we wanted croissants... So it was our daughters first time there and thankfully they didn't know what they missed out on but with all the move-in momentum I forgot to ask for the croissants. Aside from that I would say this place was pretty good. read more

Always a pleasant dinning experience here, greeted by friendly hostess, there sometimes could be a wait depending on the time and day. Wife enjoys the Tilapia and shrimp with mango salsa over rice, the broccoli cheese and rice casserole is really good. I tried new meatloaf, two thick slices served over mashed potatoes but I had it on the side. 1st time eating here and was sadly disappointed as we have family that live here in Norman and told us to try this restaurant. What a disappointment...chicken strips were so darn tough and the ribs arrived to the table cold...the Caesar salad was drenched in Caesar not enough green salad...nice ceiling fans is about all I can say. I'm not typically a complainer but the service at cheddars tonight was absolutely horrendous. We had a young man as our waiter and he just seemed disconnected with us as guests. He didn't really check in with us and was not very positive or cheery whatsoever. We waited 40 minutes for food and when we did the steak was deeply over cooked and on one of the shrimp there was still a digestive vein which was nauseating. We got an appetizer of the cheddar Wisconsin bites (which were not bad) but we're extremely cold. Not to mention the peach tea tasted of yeast and sourness. I recently went Chedder's for my first visit. Ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. The meal arrived and the pot pie's crust looked good and I had a spoonful. I attempted to eat the chicken. Iam not sure if it was skin or just uncooked but I could not take another bite without gagging. This meal was so bad I asked the cashier for a refund. Her reaction says everything about how Chedder's views their customers. She laughed at me. Told me they don't do refunds. A manager appeared and said since I paid in cash she could only give me a gift card. What? Has to be the worst restaurant in Norman. read more

We're currently working on a large contract in Cleveland County and like to pop over here for the soup/salad/sandwich combo. One of my staff members is really fond of the Monte Cristo -- a sandwich I'd not seen on a menu in several decades. (Too sweet for my tastes, but it fits her palate to perfection.) Seating can sometimes be a little hectic, as this IS a popular lunch spot among the locals. Fairly dark interior -- very reminiscent of the local Charlestons franchises. Might work on lighting a bit. read more

Five-star service for sure. Anytime we come to Cheddar's, we always get pleasant and helpful servers. The wait could be shorter, but they can't really fix that unless they expand. Overall, we love this place, though. It is pretty dark inside to make for a romantic and private setting. The booths are pretty spacious and comfortable. I like that they are high back so that you don't have to be in others conversations or have awkward stares. The food is such an experience! I love their famous crispy and buttered croissants. They recently revamped their French fries, thank goodness. The old ones were okay, but the new ones are thicker and have more potato. I love love love their grilled shrimp because the seasoning compliments the buttery sauce. Their burgers are amazing, as well. But I die for their grilled cheese. The toast is perfectly crispy and the cheese has perfect thickness and flavor. And their broccoli is my favorite side dish-very soft but fresh. read more

I have eat here over the years and it has never been this bad!!! The place was disgusting! Stuff all over the floor. The table they put us at was dirty and chunks of food was still on it. This place was a great dinner idea if you're looking for something cheaper for the family. The hostess was quick to get us to a table, and a waiter came very quickly to get us started with drinks. We barely had sat down! (It's a Cola company, to save the trouble.) The scenery was very pretty and homey, like a small cabin. They also had an aquarium in the front which had very pretty fish inside. We had chosen the cheese bites and the bacon fries, which were both so filling! The cheese bites paired with their creamy buttermilk ranch were to die for! The bacon fries had delicious crispy bacon and a smooth cheese, a great way to start your dinner. The wait might be long for some, but the appetizers hold you off well until your meal is there and ready. The chicken strips were crispy, as well as juicy. No pink in sight, just hot crispy tenders! The ribs fell off the bone; you weren't overwhelmed with the bone, it was juicy and was packing with flavor. The gravy was okay, but good with the mashed potatoes, which had that real texture many people love. The drinks weren't flat or diluted, and this was an overall nice dinner. If I could give a zero I would. The last two times we have been to the Norman location it has been awful. Food was cold both times. This last visit I ordered the Alfredo pasta - broccoli was raw, sauce was minimal and watery (they advertise made in house Alfredo sauce), pasta was cold. Their salsa that is served with queso or spinach dip is straight from a can pace picante sauce. Won't be back here ever again. read more

Came for lunch on the middle of a Saturday afternoon. Got sat next to a very loud group of teens who lacked any sort of filter for profanity. Whatever; I was young once. But we had a kid with us. We asked to get moved to the myriad of open tables in the restaurant. The waitress was pretty irritated by this request. We usually go to Cheddars for our family dinners and we get good service. Today, however, was just awful. The server skipped the croissants that bring out when you are seated. The food took about 40 minutes then arrived cold which means the server didn't bring it out when they were supposed to. We did not see our server for the rest of the night. No refills no nothing! We paid on the card reader/entertainment center and left. The floor was also very dirty, to the point that it actually bothered my dad! read more

I've eaten at Cheddar's many times over the past several years and the food and service has always been great! (Usually 4 stars.) Unfortunately this time, I can only give 1 star and that is because of the issues we had at the restaurant. Our server (I can't remember her name) was FANTASTIC!! This review does not reflect her at all. We called Saturday evening for a reservation for 1:30 pm Sunday after for a family party of 20. (Ages 14-90!) We were told this was no issue! We checked in at 1pm to let them know we were there and was told it would be 30-40 minutes. Around 1:40 we were shown to our "table". It was 4 booths. (Their booths have high backs which means you can't see the people behind you. Which is great normally, but not when you are trying to have a family meal.) This was NOT what we reserved for a family Christmas meal. We asked to speak to the manager on duty and she did come talk to us, but was not very accommodating. I explained to her that we had called and made a reservation the day before. She said that she couldn't leave all of her tables open all morning and there were people that had been seated at them. She told us that we could take the booths offered, or we could wait on what would possibly be an hour wait for the tables to open up. As for my stating that we made reservations, she shrugged and said she couldn't help it. The manager left without any more discussion or offering any alternatives. There was a group getting up from a table of 12 which was next to 2 empty booths and our server was able to get us seated in that area, which was better than the 4 booths, but certainly not what we had made reservations for. While the food we did finally receive was good, there were MANY items on the menu that they were out of, including some of the beverages that we started out with. We plan on getting together every other month at least, but we will not be coming back to Cheddar's again. read more

My wife and I stopped into Cheddar's for her birthday. She has a severe Fish and Shellfish allergy and we found out that because of the way they fry their food that she wouldn't be able to eat a lot on the menu which is common for us. What was uncommon for us is how The staff was super kind and apologetic and even went so far as to give her a free birthday dessert. We know when we go places that my wife will have a limited choice of what to eat and we greatly appreciate the help of Cheddar's kitchen manager Mindy and our Server Ashton for making us feel so welcomed. Bad beginning. We were there on a Saturday Afternoon. There was a 35-40 minute wait. There were empty tables all over the Restaurant, as it was 50-60% empty. Upon getting seated Server was polite but proved to be very poor!! As for food: steak was overcooked, several orders were wrong, had no idea who ordered what (I'm not sure how this is possible as we had 4 adults and 3 children under the age of 10), glasses stayed empty throughout the meal, you could ask for an additional drink and it never came and to top it all off never cleared plates and dishes upon completion of meal. These Servers all expect a large tip. Because of the children I never really said much as I attempt to be a positive role model. I left a reasonable and far greater tip than was earned. Someone needs to train these young people (servers) and actually attempt to do a good job and earn an 18 to 25% tip. Overall a really POOR experience. Would NOT recommend to anyone! read more

This place has went down hill. Last time I went I had undercooked salmon. Decided to try it again with 5 of us. Things haven't not improved. My mom got the chicken fried chicken and said it seemed undercooked, I had probably the worst Cesar Salad I have ever eaten, girls said chicken strips and burgers were not good. To too things off the waitress brought our chips and quest and the chips looked like they were smashed by a club before they came out. I think I'm done with this place. read more

I'm sure you've heard the phrase, "Familiarity breeds contempt." I'm not familiar with Cheddar's. That may be why I don't have contempt breeding within me, like it would be with other chain restaurants (I'm looking at you, TGI Friday's). Despite it's chainy chain-ness, I was pleasantly surprised with: - the taste or quality of the food offered - the fairly large portions of the food offered - the relatively low price of the food offered Get the Buffalo Chicken Wrap (I can't recall if that's what it's actually called). It's under $8.00, it's quite delicious, it comes with one side of your choice, and it's enough food for two separate meals. Three meals if you eat very little. I'm sure it'll put you well over your caloric intake for the day if you eat it all in one go... As Justin G. has stated, it is a "very good value for a casual dining experience." P.S. I looked up the nutritional information because I was curious. It wasn't as bad as I expected. Only 1,200 calories. And no decent human being should eat that whole thing in one sitting, so really, it's like 600 calories; not great, but not terrible horrible. read more
