If I keep seeing a 3.xx rating for Vans Pig Stand - I'm going to pull my hair out. I've been here a dozen times or so....ans this place never misses on delivering a great meal. I haven't looked at other folks comments. But I'll guarantee, people are making some mountain out of mole hill...over some BS subject....not even related to the food. Maybe some cashier didn't make them feel so special, as the customer took 30 minutes to make up their mind and order. Who knows...but this place is a 5+ star place. We used to eat at Van's after Army field exercises over 15years ago.. I used to get ribs. We recently moved to Norman. We ate there recently and I got fatty sliced brisket. It was so flavorful and tender.. no sauce required. I liked the slaw & perfectly cooked green beans. Might have to try the ribs again. read more

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME. I legit had the best ham of my life here and that totally caught me by surprise lol. Came out to Norman for a work training and stumbled upon this place. Decided to check it out and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. I picked up a 3 meat platter plate that consisted of ham, brisket, and pulled pork. Got a few sides like coleslaw, potato salad and Mac and cheese. Also order a slice of pecan pie. The pecan pie was the best thing I ate my enter trip to Oklahoma lol. The ham was incredible, smoked and full of flavor. A 10/10. The pulled pork was also incredible, moist and flavorful a 9/10. The brisket was very good, tender and smoked and a 8 out of 10. The sides were good, Mac and cheese was my favorite forsure. Can't really ask for much more than this from a BBQ spot. The manager and staff were all super friendly even when coming in with a large group; treated us like we were family. Spacious interior was nice to look at and TV's allowed us to watch the SEC Championship comfortably. As for the food, the brisket was smoked and well and tasty. I usually love this place but why pay $7 for 2 tiny ribs? If you ask for center cut you should get center cut! Meaning the first 4 ribs after the knuckle!!! This is almost rib ends. I've worked at a bbq restaurant & these are almost end ribs you can tell by the angle of the cut center cuts don't go at an angle no matter the size of the ribs!!! If you can't give me a center cut either add a rib or tell me so I can cancel ordering them as extras. Not to mention I ordered 3 meat double sliced with hot link. Tell me how I got 6oz of sliced & 2 hot links & called it good? How do you order double sliced yet end up with as much hot link as sliced???? Ordered the 3 brisket taco special and in the past I have always omitted the extra toppings and condiments and ask for lettuce and shredded cheese only. Never been an issue until today. The cashier was going to charge me .60 for a little bit of cheese so declined. Wife went back to counter and spoke to cashier, Shania, telling her that they had always given us cheese, not an issue. Wife started talking to her but Shania was just acting just mad, turned around stomped off and ignored her and was very rude, unacceptable. She brought a little cup and slammed it on the counter and then stomped away. Very unprofessional. Will be back but her behavior was rude. Had a Holiday Bowl today and it was great. I added a slice of pecan pie for after the game. Perfectly smoked Turkey and Ham. The dressing is great as well, just the right amount of sage not to overpower it. Green beans are always perfect. Mashed potatoes, brown gravy and roll are great as well. The portion of their rib dinner was huge compared to others. Ribs were solid--good meat to bone ratio. The ribs are well-seasoned with a subtle smoky and peppery flavor. The sides were tasty. I was not fond of the coleslaw as much. It was creamy but had a slightly bitter taste to it. Excellent customer service. Our first time trying vans and we had an online order, so I cant speak directly to the service, but the order was brought out on time and no issues getting it. All in all we (my wife and I) would call it ok, which is a bit disappointing because we were always hearing about how amazing it is. We got chopped brisket, pulled pork, baked beans, curly fries, and mac n cheese. -The baked beans were decent if a touch watery. -The mac n cheese was good, but a bit bland for our taste. -The curly fries were disappointing, they were limp and soggy. I did see an option though for getting them extra crispy, so that may just be how the fries are normally. -The chopped brisket/pork by itself was so so. It tasted kind of dried out, but it was still ok. Not overly fatty. -The BBQ sauce was awesome tho! It made the meal! All in all its somewhere we would try again. Ordered online through Toast (which is where the link on the website take you). Everything was fine. Got confirmation via email and text. Text message and email both stated to click a link when you arrived to have the food brought out (gave car detail for carry out). When we arrived we parked in the designated areas and clicked the link. We got there a few minutes before our order was expected to be be ready by. All was fine until 10 minutes past our expected pickup time. By that point I was frustrated (not gonna lie), so I walked in and explained. Was told "you were supposed to call it's not our fault", that's was beyond rude. We were seen outside by not 1 but 4 employees how did not even acknowledge we were in the designated spots clearly waiting for our food. Then to be told that it's not their fault that we didn't call when we got there when the app clearly stated to click a link to notify when we got there was beyond rude. Our food was cold by the time we got home because it was sitting on the counter for well over 10 minutes (not even in a heated section to maintain safe food temperatures). Beyond upset with all the staff that were standing behind the counter and clearly not pay attention to all aspects of the business. If their business practice is blame every thing on customers incompetence and not take the responsibility for their mistakes then this business would get 5 stars. Have never felt more attacked when I went in to get my food, since all employees were standing around while being yelled at the I was the one wrong. Eaten there many many times over many many years. Sort of a hole in the wall but I like that. The ribs are always my order along with coleslaw and potato salad. Service is prompt, price is fair. They have plenty of onions and pickles, and all the other relishes you could want right next to order pick up. They also have a drive-through, which is just as punctual. Tried to fix them with more vinegar and hot sauce, but they were past the point of repair and very soupy. Didn't find the sauces to be worth using, but I'm not big on sauce. The meats need to stand on their own with a tasty rub, correct amount of smoke and good bark, which they did. The only ding on the meats is that the ribs we had were a bit over cooked. Just moved to Norman from Dallas and was really hoping I could find a cue shop as good as this. They cut the brisket with lots of flavorful bark on each piece. The sauce was very good, I usually prefer it with a hotter kick. But I guess my tastebuddies have been dulled a bit from too many chilli peppers. The ribs were outstanding with lots of well cooked meat on each rib and just the right amount of tug. I learned that they have burnt ends, but they aren't on the menu and the only have them during the week, and they usually sold out of them by noon.
