We ordered out from Billy Sims BBQ. Our order was ready in the time it took to drive in for pick up. It was "Q" done right. We had the combo of 1/2 lb each of chopped brisket, pulled pork, and polish sausage. All were excellent!! The sides were generous and tasty. Lots of leftovers after feeding four adults. We arrived right at 11 a.m. when the opened and were the first customers of the day. The sliced brisket sandwich was outstanding. The brisket was tender and flavorful. They also toasted the buns. The side of mac & cheese was delicious as well. All three sauces on the table are a nice touch. This location is a roulette game every time we go. yesterday was no different. It usually seems clean enough and quiet. The kids working were nice and accommodating. One constant is the sides are always good. I love their regular potato salad! My husband and oldest love their mac an cheese. It is just ok for me. The real reason we go is the sliced brisket. On this visit the brisket was tough and not really cooked long enough. The fat was barely cooked. The ribs my mother ordered were on the small side. One half of the table was served sides in small baskets the other were served in the regular sides Styrofoam cups. The baskets were substantially larger. It was a bit odd, I had never seen that before. The polish sausage was what one would expect. The hot BBQ sauce is enough to cover the mistakes they make on the meat. I got Sliced Brisket, Ribs, and Jalapeno Sausage, and the others got Chopped Brisket, Pulled Pork and a Pulled Pork Sandwich. All of the meat was tender and full of flavor - I didn't use any sauce. One of my 2 orders, smoked barbecue sandwich pulled pork with baked potato salad. sad first time I ate here definitely wasn't impressed wait staff sucked 1) before I left I asked the gentleman if they put barbecue sauce in my bag he said yes I looked did not have it. 2) I called my order in I was told 10 minutes for my order to be ready. I knew it was going to take me awhile to get there because I wasn't in Norman so I called in my order. It took me 30 minutes to get there. Because I never ate there I asked the gentleman what is in the baked potato salad. He said is a mixture of a loaded baked potato and potato salad as you can see there is no pickles, no bacon no cheese, not even an onion. 3) whenever I got home and I looked at my food I was very disappointed for spending $25 on this and I still didn't get onions pickles or pepper in my platter. 4) whenever I called to let the gentleman know that there was no pickles onions or pepper on my platter, he was very rude and condescending, "what do you want me to do". Was surprised that I liked Billy Sims' so much. Given the number of locations, I thought the quality would drop. It wasn't the best BBQ I've ever had, but it's certainly above average, and better than some options in Norman that are fairly popular (not mentioning specific names). I had the two meat combo with pulled pork and ribs. It comes with Texas toast and your choice of two sides. I selected beans and potato salad. Of the two, I preferred the ribs, but both meats were very good. The pulled pork was tender, and you get a nice sized portion. The ribs had a very good dry rub, no sauce needed. Nice smoke, and they pulled away nicely from the bone. I'd order both again. The potato salad was standard BBQ joint potato salad. It wasn't earth shattering, but it was fine. The beans were better, lots of meat and you can tell a lot of seasoning is used. They are cooked very well, not so long that they end up in a sloppy mess and they maintain their integrity. I didn't find the "hot" sauce to be very hot. I'll see if there's a hotter option next time. But, like I said, this is some solid BBQ, despite the growth of the brand. read more

Great Brisket. I stopped at Panera for a coffee in the morning and I smelled something smoking with hardwood. I drove throught the adjacent shopping center and that's where I spotted Billy Sims BBQ. Had the Brisket sandwich and a piece of smoked sweet corn. Very good. Surprized a chain of multiple locaions can have such good food. The portions were fine for a lunch sandwich. It is average quality BBQ. When we bought the large pack to feed a crowd of hungry men... we realized this is NOT a "go to" BBQ place even in a pinch. The 3 1/2 pound meat pack comes with 6 pieces of bread and no... They will not provide more even if you request more slices. It comes with 1 pint of sauce... Yes, 1 pint for 3 1/2 lbs meat. The meat had an inordinate amount of fat. The service was flat, not personable, and irritated when I asked for more bread and sauce. I asked to buy additional sauce. It is unfortunate that Billy Sims is in no way associated with this restaurant. With his face on the front, I think he might run it differently. read more

I hate leaving a place and smelling like food UNLESS I'm going to eat Korean BBQ or at Nic's. Billy Sims was no exception because I ended up leaving and then smelling like I was left in a smoke house to cook medium rare. :( Joking aside, the BBQ is not half bad. I took an order of the pulled pork to go and was happy with the protein portion, but I really didn't like the potato salad or my other side which I have already forgotten about because it was terrible... We tried this place after driving past Amarillo, Texas. We drove for more than an hour, maybe even two hours without seeing anything except for fast food outlets until we hit Elk City, OK. Finally this Bbq chain outlet showed up on our phone search and we went for it. Needless to say we were hungry so that may have influenced our opinion of the place. I got the pulled pork sandwich (triple 20?) and my wife got the 4 rib combo. Both were great. My sandwich was piled high with tender pork and cole slaw on a good bun: nice and soft but it held up to all of the sauce on it. I got potato salad on the side and they offered pickles and onions for my sandwich. It was awesome, AND I could easily eat it on the road. My wife loved her combo, 4 baby back ribs with 2 sides and bread. The servers were 3 friendly guys and it was very quick as far as service. I would only offer one suggestion for change and that would be to offer some beef items on the menu. But that's just my preference, no stars lost. Billy Sims knows his BBQ! read more

I'm from Texas and I'm on my way to Kansas. Had to stop an try Boomer-Que. the ribs were perfect. Nice and tender. Both the ribs and brisket were a little lite on rub, but I'm not in Texas anymore. Went for lunch while in town was not crowded had lots of football memorabilia from Sims and Ok. Food was good and hit the spot. Seating was booths and some tables. I had the special which was Brisket with some fried bologna and some sliced sausage on a nice bun. It was tasty. I had Mac and Cheese as a side that came with it. The mac was ok nothing special. Also every time I come here there are only two people working and a line around 5 people long. I ordered ribs two side dishes and a gallon of lemonade. The ribs were by far the worst ribs I have ever eaten. It was apparent that the ribs were old. They were cold and extremely dry. If this is the best Billy Sims has to offer then I will never ever eat there again. If this wasn't the best they can do then what did I deserve not to get their best.
