I think this is my new favorite chicken place! 3 strips, 3 wings, fries, toast and a drink. The wings and strips were pretty damn good. Strips had reasonable crispiness, the wings were nice and juicy, the fries not only had GREAT texture, but soaked up some of the meat juices! Mmmmmm . And the garlic toast was perfect! Not too thick like some other places. Oh, and their sweet tea was really good too. They have an array of delicious dipping and wing sauces, but I somehow didn't get sauce *on* my wings. The Oreo cheesecake jar was amazing! However, we took a couple bites of the food and became extremely nauseous. The Mac and cheese had a weird flavor it was sugary. The spiciest sauce they had was not spicy it was just weird. Did not eat even half of the food. Very disappointed. read more

I tried this for the first time the other day and it definitely lived up to my expectations! I got the crispy chicken sandwich and it was so good! The chicken was super Crispy and the fries were perfectly salty. I tried the regular ranch and the Cajun ranch the regular ranch so good and the Cajun ranch wasn't too spicy which is perfect. I went to the drive-through I've never been inside, but the drive-through isn't the fastest. I will say today I went and it was a little slower than normal, but she gave me a free brownie which I didn't even ask for and I didn't even complain about the service so the fact that she gave me that for free I don't know where is super sweet! Being from the Seattle area, and hungry AF, we were looking for some solid local chicken fast food to nosh on in a hurry--something we knew we couldn't get back home. This place really delivered! Chicken was really tasty! Fries and sauces too! Everything we tried was delicious and better than Chick-fil-A. Where they really stood out though, was the exceptional service. They went out of their way to help a member of our party with celiac disease navigate the menu and find gluten free goodness to consume (grilled chicken tenders, bbq sauces, slim sauce, and french fries fried in a non-shared fryer). Then, not one, but two employees--including a manager--came out to make sure everything was banging on all cylinders--which it definitely was. We will surely be back next time we're in town, and will think back fondly on our time devouring copious amounts of slim chicken! read more

Watched Good Mythical Morning (blind tender taste testing) and had to go around Norman/Moore/OKC and try out some local chicken spots to see how their tenders all fare. Tried the Slim Meal - 5pc, Fries, Toast, 2 sauces, and a medium drink. ($8.69) Let's start with the tenders: Moistness - 5 (more greasy than juicy but not dry) Seasoning - 5 (over seasoned if you planned on using sauces) Crunch - 3 (sometimes there, sometimes nonexistent) Overall - 4.33 The tenders were better than I had at KFC but not by much. The temperature wasn't very consistent. Some were just warm and others were piping hot, but the temperature didn't alter the flavor or texture of these tenders. The heat was mostly due to some pockets of hot grease rather than radiant steam and heat. These tenders were a bit confusing since I wasn't sure if they were designed for use with sauce or if they were intended to be eaten on their own. DQ and other spots offer gravy as an accompaniment but I feel like the light corn-mealy breading meant these tenders were designed to be tossed or coated in sauces. However, the amount of seasoning on each of these tenders was conflicting since they would have been overly salty given some sauces (like a buffalo). The texture of the tenders was more rubbery in some bites but never dry or mushy. They kind of tasted like they had been brined for a while or maybe frozen. The sriracha garlic sauce was a home run and definitely the star of the show. The toast was regular white bread (not the thick Texas toast) and didn't have that rich buttery goodness that you might expect. The fries tasted like they had a combination of Lawry's Season all and garlic salt and they were crispy but nothing special. The staff was friendly and attentive. Since BWW moved in down the street it's easier to compare these two wing joints. My verdict: Slim Chickens has a superior product. BWW is a better choice if you're looking to park in front of 35 televisions for 2 or more hours, pound down some cheap watered down beer or play some trivia, but if you're after good wings then Slim Chickens should be your destination. I love spicy food and Slim's inferno wings are awesome. Nice and tasty with a high amount of heat, but not so hot that you can't enjoy them. And as for chicken strips, these strips are outstanding as well. I will never understand why there always seems to be a line at the Chik-Fil-A drive thru 10 cars deep. Slim's is better than anything they have to offer, and without the bigoted overtones one associates with CFA. The SE Norman location might be a little off the beaten path as restaurants go, but that seems to be changing a little with the addition of the BWW down the street. read more

This is probably my favorite fast food chicken place in Norman! I can't give 5 stars as I think it is a bit too pricey. I get the higher prices because they have really great quality products but almost $40 for two people to eat seemed really high. HOWEVER- I will continue giving them my money because it's sooooo damn good! We each got a hungry plate as we hadn't eaten all day and it was a LOT of food, I ate 4 tenders and then ate the rest for dinner. The chicken is super tender! It is my 2nd fave on chicken tenders in town. They are a little smaller than what I'm used to but definitely have great flavor. The sauces are ON POINT. Like seriously, I have a sauce addiction and I love trying them all, I have yet to taste one here that I didn't like and that is impressive because I am somewhat picky For real though, the honey mustard, slim's sauce, and sriracha garlic are all stupid good! The mango habanero was a bit too sweet for me but it was still good. PRO TIP: put some of the sriracha garlic sauce in the Mac and Cheese and thank me later! Btw-the mac is pretty awesome. It's white, and has that gooey goodness that I love, almost like so good you know it has to be so bad. The fried okra was cooked perfectly and I love me some fried okra! They also have good soft drinks like cherry coke and Fanta, I'm a fan! Overall it is my favorite, the sides are all fantastic and I love how many different options they have on the menu. First time at Slim Chickens and I won't be rushing back any time soon. I tried their chicken tenders and wings(with honey BBQ sauce). The chicken tenders were juicy, however, slightly bland compared to Chick-fil-A. After one bite of the wings I was done with them. My order came with two sauces, and I picked the "Slim Sauce" as recommended. It was nothing to brag about. They had 4 different jar desserts and I tried two of them. The oreo crumble wasn't what I was expecting but if you're an oreo fan you might like this! On the other hand, the brownie dessert took care of my sweet tooth and might have been the best part of the meal. The staff was friendly and helpful while answering all of my questions. The food was served quickly, which I appreciated because I was starving! That being said, I might give this place another try sometime in the future, but it won't be a regular in my books. read more

Their chicken and waffles are the best chicken and waffles around. Literally, my favorite thing on the menu. The rest of their food is good too. The tenders come out steaming hot (like burn your mouth and fingers hot). I always tear mine into pieces so that it cools quickly. I like their slims sauce too. Not only were we way pleased with the pricing (family of 5 is not cheap!) but the wings were amazing! I'm not a typical BBQ sauce on wings fan, but their sauce was excellent. The fried pickles won my heart though...and they're good enough on their own for me to continue going. Perfect sweet tea to bring it all together! The first time I made it home before I realized the sandwich meal I had ordered was nowhere to be seen instead I was given a salad. I drove back to get it replaced and they made me wait 20 minutes and then forgot to put my fries in the meal box so I had to wait for them to make fries! Summary: Fast, fresh chicken from friendly staff. Let's be honest. If you're on the east side of Norman, your picks for good food are practically non-existent. You have a half-dozen fast food choices, restaurants that are so bad, they don't care about health department inspections and Slim Chickens. Thankfully, this flower in the desert is your last great hope for food east of Porter Ave and you'll be thankful to have found it. They even have the option of drive-thru for busy parents and those on-the-go. But then you will be missing the experience of a nice staff and the "far away from school, but still packed with college kids" ambience. Seriously though, the chicken tastes great and it's extremely fast, friendly service. Despite the young clientele, it still offers a family-friendly environment. I wouldn't take a significant other here, because a roll of paper towels at every table doesn't say "fine dining," and the almost always empty ketchup bottles make a noise that nobody wants to explain on a first date. read more

I work on the Research Campus, so Slim's is one of the few places in my part of Norman where I can go and sit and enjoy a meal on my lunch hour without feeling rushed. The staff is always friendly, and the service is always fast no matter how busy they are. Their chicken strips are always moist and delicious, and the seasoning on their french fries is awesome. They're lighter than Raising Cane's (another favorite), but just as filling. Definitely recommended. read more

I've never driven to this part of Norman before so I was a little skeptical. Slim surprised me! They have fried mushrooms on the menu!! I ordered the wing and fried chicken tender combo. You can order the tenders grilled or fried. It comes with texas toast and fries for $8.99. With every order you get to chose a sauce. With my order I got to choose two (one for my strips and one for the wings) I opted for ranch and their special sauce. The tenders are a tad bit smaller then what you would get at Canes, but the fried coating is different and super duper tasty! I ordered the wings with Honey BBQ sauce and I felt they were nothing to write home about. The special sauce tastes like Cane's sauce, no joke. They probably add some different spices, but the flavor is eerily similar. The fries come with some seasoned salt, which I wasn't able to finish.
