Ate here tonight and came away very disappointed. When they sat us at a booth, there was trash and food in the seat crack and all over the floor under the table. Then we waited for 20 minutes with no one waiting on us. We tried 3 or 4 times to get someones attention and all the servers were oblivious. When we finally got someones attention he was helpful. The ketchup bottle was empty and the sugar holder was basically empty. The food was good but the service and attention to detail was so poor I won 't be returning. We also has to pay for three separate orders with one credit card and he told us that he didn't think his computer could do that. Went to Cheddar's in Norman with 5 family members today. Several tables around us who came in well after us got their food 20 minutes before we did. We seriously considered calling to have a pizza delivered to us. After waiting 55 minutes for our food the manager offered to not charge us for our appetizer and to give us two mini desserts. The hamburger was cold and the broccoli and cheese looked like it had been out for a while. I'm not sure if it was the server or the kitchen but our experience was not good and the restaurant did not handle it well. read more

My husband and I arrived at the restaurant at 10 pm, an hour before they closed at 11 pm. We sat at our table 10 minutes before the wait staff took our drink order another ten minutes before we got our drinks, which was water. We weren't served our meal for another 30 minutes of which time the wait staff never came by to ask if we needed anything. When received our meal it was cold! The waitress said it was because they were trying to close down the kitchen.... The manager never came by our table to apologize for our long wait or cold meal that we paid for, needless to say we won't be going back. read more

My grandma went to this location and the lady that brought food out to her table spilled food on my grandma and didn't bother to tell the waitress or the manager. When my grandma brought up the situation to the manager they were not sympathetic at all but comped her food yet charged her for the lemonade. My grandma doesn't get angry in these situations but she felt disgusting having had food spilled on her and since the manager could tell she wasn't very mad they just didn't care. Pros: Food was cheap Cons: The wait time was pretty horrible. We waited for 45 minutes to get a 4 person booth. By the time we finally got a seat, there were around 5 sets of 4 people waiting. We get seated, expecting the back area to packed like sardines. But, there were approximately 6 or 7 free booths. Throughout lunch, those booths were never touched. As we were leaving, we passed the same group of people that were waiting before we were seated. Before anyone tries to justify it with 'maybe they were short staffed'. The food and the server were surprisingly alright. The hostess was incredibly rude, especially when we asked if she could wipe down the dirty table she sat us at. She just walked away while we stood there and said someone would come along. That's it. I asked if we should just stand there, and her response was, "i said someone would come along." Okaaaaayy. Food is spot on normally. However there was this one time (the last time I will be there), out of three dishes ordered, three came out wrong and had to be sent back multiple times. Not for pickiness but due to being undercooked (how do you undercook a Monte Cristo THREE TIMES). Also the wait staff stood next to our table talking and yelling and checking their phones. Not sure if they thought they were out of view of the manager and could get away with it or what? Casual chatting would have been one thing but speaking ill of other customers, next to another customer that was having issues with their food choices, didn't lend well to my believing in another part of the restaurant my table wasn't being mentioned in the same hostile unprofessional manner. We addressed issues to manager and she did correct them and our adjusted our bill accordingly (well played manager, well played). She also directly addressed the gossiping wait staff in front of us without mentioning what table reported the indiscretion. She assured us that whatever we needed in the future to let her know. Fast forward two weeks. We had a family event involving at least 20 people coming up. We phoned and tried to make a reservation, they don't accept reservations. We tried to ask if they would need notice when we were on our way. We were advised to simply show up and wait for a table if none were available. As we all like each other in our family we were okay with that, however, maybe not everyone would be okay with a big crowd like that in the small entry way at Cheddar's. We asked if we could send one person ahead of the bigger party and they could get the table and wait for the rest to arrive. We were told "incomplete parties will not be seated". I assured them we would be less than the wait time behind the person who came and the reply was "we don't do reservations". I asked to speak to the above mentioned manager and was told she didn't have time to talk to me in regards to this matter and even if she did her answer would be the same. Okay we will find somewhere else that is accommodating to large parties. But one family member was set on eating at this place for their big day. So we attempted again to speak to the manager, left our phone number and request for a solution. Never got a reply. Called the day of our family event and asked if they were busy, were told they could not tell us that over the phone because it may change any minute. Said we were on our way right then and there were 20 of us. Reply was "well hope we can seat you all, thats a lot of people to try to seat in one party". We went to Rib Crib, they welcomed us with open arms. We still haven't heard from manager per our request she call us. When a manager doesn't have control of her staff and/or won't take customer calls, it is concerning! read more

I usually love this place.. great food and great service, until this time. About a week ago my boyfriend and I decided to go for an early dinner. We were seated right away and helped by which seemed like an eager new server. We couldn't decide on our food or drinks. But after a few rounds of have you decided yet? We chose our meals. I was in the mood for a drink and picked the passion punch. Well if you want a cup full of ice and barely a splash of alcohol this is the drink for you! With a nice price over $6! Our meal was okay, but felt rushed by the server who kept coming over, it actually got quite annoying. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Also he apparently didn't know you share your tips with the bartenders. My bf wanted to tip him but not the bartender and he said they don't share tips. Come to find out from the nice hostesses they do share tips. My boyfriend expressed his displeasure with the manager Nicole who basically was rude and not willing to help resolve or even listen. She also lied about watching the bartender make my drink. She stated it was spiked lemonade, which it was not. It's a shame because we really enjoy this restaurant. Cheddars is not a bad place to go if you want a decent lunch or dinner in a semi-casual setting. There are better places out there, though. My grandmother and I went here while I was visiting, and she liked it. I thought it was just OK. The food wasn't anything to write home about. My catfish was good, but maybe a bit TOO well done in parts. The vegetables I got on the side were cooked unevenly (parts overdone, parts not done at all). She liked her tilapia, but didn't get the mango salsa on top so I can't comment on that. There were flies all over our food, which is weird for an indoor restaurant to have so many, but understandable since it's been raining a lot and bugs are basically overrunning the city. I've been to one other Cheddars in Tulsa, OK, and it was just OK as well. The portion sizes aren't too huge, which is good, but the food is kinda oversalted. I probably wouldn't go back unless I'm with people who want to go (never on my own accord). read more

I ordered sweet tea and crispy chicken salad. My daughter ordered chicken Caesar pasta salad. After getting unsweetened tea, and because the waiter didn't write our order down, my daughter and I looked at each other like, here we go. The waiter brought our salads out, and I didn't recognize what they set in front of my daughter. They brought the wrong salad. No big deal. The took it, and brought out a chicken Caesar, and the waiter refilled my unsweetened tea, after I asked him again for sweet tea. I told the waiter that my daughter didn't get the pasta, part of the chicken Caesar pasta salad. Well, then the cook came out and asked my daughter if she wanted the pasta that was supposed to be with it. Um, yes. Next thing we know, a small bowl of pasta is brought out, for her to mix up. I say this, because I would've taken her bowl and brought her a fresh one, that was made correctly and/or not charged me for the chicken Caesar pasta salad or maybe even just take the unsweetened tea off my check. Not to mention, the chicken in my chicken salad was over cooked, so rather than have the cook come out again, to question us, I left hungry. read more

We visited Cheddars on Valentines day at noon. We go there several times a year and always enjoy the atmosphere and have never had a service issue . My wife and I ordered chicken fried steak. The steaks were like bricks laying on pieces of toast. The batter was fried so crisp it was almost impossible to cut. I don't know why they had the toast underneath the steaks. They need to check out any truck stop or greasy spoon in Oklahoma to see how to cook such a basic menu item. Putting their own twist on it didn't work...at least for this Okie. read more

I have always enjoyed Cheddar's for the quality of service and food, until last night. I felt uneasy when walking up to the door and noticed the broken pots in front of the door and the sign partially peeled of the door. Walking in I noticed a broken bench in the wait area with the arm setting in the opposite corner. I was early and my party had not arrived so I told the hostess that I would set in the waiting area until they arrived. As I waited a lady came in the door and asked the hostess to see the manager. A disheveled looking male wearing a red shirt came to the hostess station to speak with the woman. The woman was soft spoken and polite but wanted to complain to the manager about her visit that night and the quality of the food and service her party had received that night. The manager listened for a few moments and then began to argue with the woman about her complaint. The woman never raised her voice or acted in an inappropriate manner but it was obvious that she was very frustrated. The comments from the manager could be heard by anyone in the front of the restaurant. The woman turned and left. While this was taking place the hostess was sitting on one of the benches and spent most of this time fidgeting with the front of her bra and attempting to adjust it there in front of the reception area. This should have been my clue to leave and go elsewhere. As I was about to call my party and suggest a different restaurant they appeared at the door. At this point I will skip ahead. We stayed unfortunately. The trip to our table guided by our hostess was bizarre at best. Ordering was confrontational. We had a visit from the bartender to explain why a drink order was mishandled and then a visit from the manager who could have resolved the entire issue with a simple "I am sorry for the miscommunication." instead the manager wanted to argue with me. When I refused to engage in the argument the manager left our table acting like a three year old throwing a tantrum. Before we could leave the manager came back to the table and stated that he had taken care of our drinks. I responded that was not necessary. As we were leaving the bartender stated across the room "I hope you enjoyed your drinks!" I will end this story here. I think you can decide for yourself if a visit to Cheddar's is worth the gamble. I am just amazed how such a fine place could erode to such a level in such a short period of time.... read more
