Cheddar's is Cheddar's. It's a chain restaurant that is pretty much everywhere. I wasn't planning on reviewing this place until I visited with one of my girlfriends this past week. I noticed that it is a VERY inexpensive, good quality restaurant. Drinks: The drinks here are so cheap! I almost always order their grande Maui Margarita which is a little less than $5. I also love their grande Texas Margarita which is $3.74 and it is HUGE! The Passion Punch is also a favorite of mine and it's about $4!! You definitely get more bang for your buck at this restaurant which is why my girlfriend's and I always come here when we want to just casually drink. They have the best drink menu with the best prices. Food: The food is also great because this is a "scratch kitchen" meaning everything is handmade from scratch. I don't have a certain dish that I love here because I've definitely had some hits and misses as far as the food goes. I've ordered their Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo in the past but it's alway super dry. I've also had the Sweet Heat Chicken and Shrimp which was really good. And lastly I've had their hamburger which is definitely a basic burger. My boyfriend swears by their Monte Cristo though! That's what he always orders so I would definitely recommend it. It's very savory with a sweet kick. Ambiance: The restaurant itself is very beautiful. The interior looks as though the food and drinks would be a lot more expensive than it actually is. The lights are usually dim which makes it very mellow, chill and slightly romantic if you're on a date. I recommend you give Cheddar's a try!! read more

Good food, good service. This was my first time at a Cheddar's restaurant and I went in with low expectations as I always do whenever going to a chain restaurant. We entered at about 7:30pm in the middle of dinner rush and we're seated promptly. Our waitress, Nicole, greeted us and took our drinks and appetizers orders within a few minutes. She returned promptly with our drinks and within 5-10 minutes we received our chips and dip. The queso and the spinach dip were both good and the chips were warm and crispy. With our orders taken, we enjoyed our appetizers but the entrees did take a little while longer to get to our table. My ribeye steak was slightly overdone (ordered medium-rare, steak was medium-well); my girlfriend's sirloin steak was cooked and seasoned well. My girlfriend's mother's chicken fried chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside-- cooked to perfection. All our sides were fantastic and cooked and seasoned well. Nicole checked on us regularly and refilled our drinks quickly; there wasn't ever a time where we had to flag her down for something and I really appreciated that. Her offer for horseradish/sour cream for my steak was appreciated as well. She was very nice and friendly. Overall, I was very pleased and had a fantastic dining experience. I placed an online order this afternoon which ended up being about $60. I ordered 2 steaks rare; they were both overcooked and salty. Also, I ordered the spinach dip and did not receive it. With everything going on right now with the pandemic, is it too much to ask for restaurants to get orders correct? We see everyday in the news how restaurants are going under. My heart goes out to businesses and that is why I try to order from them. However, it is unacceptable for restaurants to get orders wrong at this time!!!! read more

Used to go to Cheddars all the time and was excited to try this one. The restaurant smelled dirty, the floors were greasy and slick, and the bathrooms had no paper towels which made me wonder if employees are washing their hands. Went to this location to try it out again the wait was about 15 minutes to be seated We sat in an area close to the kitchen... that was ok... We had 4 kids and 2 adults... the problem was we waited over one hour to get two salads The 15 minutes later we got two more meals Then 10 minutes later two more kids were served The 1 hour and 30 minutes after being served The last child received her meal... This place is absolutely a joke! You walk in and they tell you ... it will be 20 wait (look around there is 15 tables open). We say okay maybe it will go fast. The hostess which is a older woman and a young lady with every customer that comes in the older lady talks about each people who walks up in Spanish (which I do not let they lady know I understand what she is saying) very rude things by the way. 30 min pass and she still has not called us. My husband and I have lived in Texas now for year, so we're always looking for great food. This ain't that place. This place came highly recommend for the drinks and food. I got the steak and shrimp. Loaded potato and buttered corn. Steak was super dry, 4 little shrimp is all I got, very small potato. The service was just ok. Waited for a while until I finally got a refill on my soda. The boy that was bussing tables was a freakin slug. He shuffles back and forth cleaning just one table with his pants sagging off his butt just to show off his bright red underpants. The atmosphere was a bit obnoxious. Crying babies and girls just talking WAY to loud and cussing. Most of these people act like they have no home training. That's not the restaurants fault, but we will definitely never eat here again. My husband and I both have stomach aches and I'm in the bathroom now vomiting and doing this review. We found this place while in Mesquite. We were actually going to another place to eat but decided to stop here. I am glad we did. There was no wait even though it was busy. The staff was very friendly and did an excellent job taking care of us. The food was great. Much better than the chain restaurant right down the street. If we were staying in Mesquite a bit longer I would stop in again and try something different just to see if it is as good as the ribs we had. If I am ever in town again this is the place I will stop at. read more

Be prepared to wait! This Cheddars location makes its customers wait for over an hour to get a table! There were only 2 of us and I counted over 15 empty tables!!! I thought this was just a one time thing but I've been here 3 times and every time it's at least a 30 minute wait and they have open tables everywhere!! Mismanagement at its finest! I have eaten at 3 other cheddars in the DFW area and none of them have 20-30 people crammed next to the front door waiting on tables! It's like this place does not even want to make money? Ok, let's start off with the restaurant's exterior and interior cleanliness or in this case, lack there of. Upon entering, my wife and I noticed used napkins and silver ware on the floor. Several tables which were vacated but had yet to be cleaned off. At this point, we were contemplating leaving the establishment all together but decided to give this Cheddar's a shot as we are big fans of their food. 37 minutes later, our name gets called out and we were led to our booth. Waitress was slow to get to us and eventually brought our drinks out. Carpet floors littered with food and trash throughout the main floor! I had never witnessed anything like this from a restaurant and was embarrassed to have brought my wife into such a nasty facility. I Ordered a surf and turf plate which was ok at best( fried shrimp was dredged in grease and soggy)steak was a bit dry). My wife had ordered a pasta dish that she partially ate and left on table. During our entire experience at this Cheddar's, not once did we see or hear management on the floor directing or communicating with their guests. Not the best experience since our order was messed up. Our Texas cheese fries did not have the jalapeños we requested. My boyfriend's order of 1/2 rack BBQ ribs had to be taken back because the ribs barely had BBQ sauce on them (refer to photo). He asked for mashed potatoes without gravy, yet they brought him mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. The waiter described the seasoned rice as being well seasoned with onions cooked in it. Rather, the "seasoned rice" was just buttered rice. I had the tilapia and shrimp. The shrimp was really good but the tilapia was bland. I would tell my friends about this place it's the best if y'all say it sucks then y'all are crazy Anytime We will go out to eat it will be Cheddar's! First time at a Cheddars and What a delicious food!! I had chicken pot pie (included a big salad) and my husband had the plate with ribs and chicken, he ordered mash potatoes and some cheese broccoli that was just amazing. Everything tasted like home made food. A friend of ours ordered a soup and he said it was really good. Terrible service. Waited14 minutes for drinks. Our server spilled our salsa and said he'd go get us another one, never got salsa. Our salads came out 5 minutes after our entrées and he acted surprised when we told him we didn't want them anymore. We saw him maybe 3 times in the hour we were at this place. This location is always a hit or miss for me. Most of the time I come and things go well but there are times here and there when they miss the mark. Everything went well in the beginning we were seated and greeted by our waitress got or drink and appetizers ordered then began when it all fell apart. Our appetizers took forever to come out, then my order came out completely wrong and I had to wait for a while before it resurfaced correctly. While the waitress was very helpful and kind to correct the issue it was an inconvenience. I did appreciate the fact that the manager came by our table to ensure we were taken care of and apologize for the mix up. Pros: Seated fast. Friendly hostess. Food was good Cons: The place is dirty. The carpet had so much trash on it. This was not in one area but the whole carpet area where I was sitting. There was a lady that came and started trying to sweet it with a broom (too much trash for that.) Server was not so good. She was not friendly and she was not rude. It was just a let me get you in an out type thing. Very transactional. No small talk. No checking to see how things were or if we needed anything else. I went in on a Friday night with my family. We had a party of 16. I went in, added myself to the list. We didnt wait more that 25 minutes, this was super convenient! This is a chain which reminded me of a TGIF, or Applebee's or the chain of your choice. The food and service were good, nothing bad, nothing outstanding. Walked into Cheddars on a random Monday afternoon around 4ish to grab a late lunch/early dinner. We were greeted promptly by a hostess who showed us to a booth in the bar area. We do prefer to sit in the bar area so this was not a problem. They had college basketball showing on the TVs (which the husband loves). I ran to the ladies room and asked the hubby to order me a water. When I arrived back at the table we still had not been greeted by our server and had not placed our drink order. A few minutes later we were greeted by a server who told us our server wasn't on shift yet - at which point I looked at my phone and saw it was 3:58. Our two drinks (water and diet coke) did not arrive to the table for ten minutes. Unfortunately, once our drinks arrived we still were not able to place an order because their computers were "frozen". During the time we waited we were unfortunate enough to sit by about 5-6 ladies at the bar who apparently had been there for a quite awhile and were obviously drunk, loud and obnoxious! I am not sure why the bartender continued to serve them. Luckily our server did arrive about 2-3 minutes after the drinks arrived and we were able to place our order (with no mention of the "frozen" computer). Our meal arrived within a timely manner, but I still had a sour taste in my mouth from just how long it took to get our drinks. No place for family. The manager Alex informed my family that they "purposely split up large groups because they harm business'. What shocked our party is the simple fact a table adjacent to the birthday girl's booth, had just been busted. Despite the availability and blatant disregard of the number of our party, they sat a party of four. The place we were seated was smaller despite the more people we had: myself an another adult with four children (cousins). Naturally I inquired if this strategy was Cheddars policy and more importantly how long had it been implemented?". She stated it was something recently started and was something Cheddars was practicing at isolated and select locations. Unfortunately, our party called in advanced and was not informed of this "policy". Practically ruined my relatives 40th birthday. She loves Cheddars and I did too but this experience left a taste in my mouth that time will only worsen. Waited over an hour to have the parents separated from their children and more importantly relatives seven tables apart. Would I recommend this place...not for a family or group. You don't need lots of cheddar to eat at Cheddar's! I was overwhelmed by all the food I was given for $15! I LOVE the soft criossant they give you with the side salad. They put some kind of honey butter on it that just makes it to die for! My favorite entree is the chicken tenders and steak combo! What a genius thing to do!
