Six months after my original review of this place, I wanted a burger again, but this time I drove over to the place myself. I go there right at 12:00 and avoided the rush that came in right as I walked out, lol. The owner himself waited on me and helped me with my order. The place is so clean and clearly a great place to hang out if you aren't just wanting to eat. One side is a small bar area - but not too small - complete with a jukebox! TV screens are placed in good spots. The owner chatted about their history and I was interested in the history of Mesquite. A lady brought out my meal and took the time to smile at me, such a change from places that are in such a rush. My son loves it and now I'm a fan. You must check out this local-owned charming place! The Toddzilla Challenge Is a lie JC Burger Bar was a complete letdown. I went there for my birthday specifically to take on the "Toddzilla Challenge"--only to find out after finishing it that the challenge no longer exists. A total of four of us ordered it, and at no point did the cashier or waitress inform us that the challenge was discontinued. The Toddzilla is still on the menu, and there's even a wall dedicated to past winners, making it seem like the challenge was still active. So, we did what any competitive eater would do--we finished every last bite, expecting to earn our place on the wall and a commemorative t-shirt. Instead, we were met with a shrug and told, "Oh yeah, that challenge isn't a thing anymore." Talk about false advertising! The biggest issue? We specifically ordered four massive $22 burgers designed not to be finished, under the assumption we were taking on a legit challenge. If the staff had simply told us beforehand, we might have reconsidered. But nope--we were left in the dark. As for the food? It was... meh. The Toddzilla is just three beef patties with three slices of cheese--no sauce, no toppings, nothing. Just dry meat and bread. Fortunately, we asked for mayo, which helped a little, but without ketchup, mustard, pickles, or onions, it was a struggle to get through. Honestly, I think this place only gets good ratings because it's a bar. And let's be real--when alcohol is involved, food tends to get rated better than it actually is. I wanted to find a great burger in Mesquite so I went to Yelp and found JC's Burger. This place offers dine in and curbside pick up. I decided to purchase my meal to go. I ordered my meal online for myself and husband. The food arrived in about 15 minutes so I found a parking spot and ate my burger and fries. The burger lacked seasoning. I ate half of my burger and some of the fries. The fries were not good at all. They also lacked seasoning. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. My whole family made the trip there to do the Toddzilla Challenge to celebrate my husband's birthday. We ordered 4 of them assuming that it was still a thing. We didn't bother asking about it since it was still on the menu and on the wall. We all finished it went up to inform the waitress and to get our photos taken and get the shirt only to be informed they don't do it anymore. If we knew that prior to ordering we wouldn't have wasted the money. Stay clear so not worth the money, staff rude and full of drunks. I was disappointed in my salad.. the lettuce wasn't fresh and the bleu cheese flavor was overpowering .. though I only found 1 bleu cheese crumble oddly enough. The chicken itself was fine and good portion size. The cheese burger was good but I assumed it would come with French fries for being $10. At least we tried . Not great today! The meat quality was not great, it tasted premade patties. The fries are not the same. I do not live close so making a special trip to eat here as disappointing. We had the pleasure of enjoying lunch after church here today with friends. It was our first time and the atmosphere was chill and eclectic. The small bar looked interesting and well stocked as you walk in. My son had the grilled cheese and regular french fries with a strawberry milkshake. He quickly devoured his meal and was a happy boy. As far as kid meals go- this one definitely is quality and quantity for the price. Our friends got the chicken tender platter which looked filling as well. The manager even checked in with our table a few times and offered my son a drink once his shake was gone. The staff was great. I had a strange meal, consisting of fried pickles and a side salad. The salad was good, and had cucumbers, cheese and cherry tomatoes. I have been craving fried pickles, so this was fulfilling! They were a little too greasy but still good. I would love to try the onion rings. While my son and I enjoyed our meals, my husband was not so pleased. He ordered the "The Nooner," and requested no cilantro aioli- as he is allergic. Unfortunately the bun, bacon and egg were covered in the aioli. Since we were with friends, he took the top off and settled for the patty. I could tell the burger was really dried out and looked flavorless. He said the tator tots were the highlight of his meal but was not inspired to visit again. We've been to JCs Burger Bar twice. The burgers are good! The black bean veggie burger is yummy with a little kick thanks to the chipotle. We didn't like the fish tacos too much. But All in all, good food, decent prices and clean restaurant! Will definitely be back. We like it better than the Heffs burgers that was here before they opened. We still really enjoy this place but today their veggie black bean patty was just way too soggy and not even binding together as a patty. Idk if the cook has changed it but I wish they would bind it and sear it on the grill. It was a bit lukewarm as well. I'll give em another visit to see if it's just an off night they were having. read more

Came here based on the star ratings and rave reviews but I would have to kindly disagree. The place looks new and was clean which is a plus but the food and prices is where it goes down hill for me. The burgers are $8, sides range from $3-$10 and non-alcohol drinks $3. The bill came to $44 for 3 people which I thought was steep and I don't mind paying that if the food is good. Our burgers were so dry and over cooked that they were borderline burnt. I had to dip my mushroom swiss burger in ketchup just to add some moisture. I also had to pull my burger apart and look under the cheese to find the 2 to 3 mushrooms they put on it. Nothing like the picture they advertise overflowing with cheese and mushrooms. Very disappointing! I will say the onion rings are very good and the staff and management are very friendly and professional. Overall, mediocre food but nice establishment. read more

One of the worst burgers I have ever had. It took a long time to get our food. When we finally got it, the bun was hard and stale. No mustard had been added so I had to go to the counter to get a side of it. The meat was cooked to resemble a hockey puck. Tater tots were under cooked. The vanilla milk shake had an odd flavor. We saw that JC's had sweet potato fries and really wanted to try them so we went in this past Saturday night. On the first trip of the evening, we ordered food coming to $50+ only to get home and realize some of our food wasn't right. Ordering process went fine, the cashier wasn't going above and beyond with customer service, fine I guess. We sat at the bar while we waited for our food and milkshake to come. I had been sitting next to the cashiers tip jar at the bar (a jar that had been sitting there for idk how long) Not long after sitting down, the waitress quickly came to empty the contents out, walked away and continued to keep ignoring us. The Nutella milkshake that we ordered was pretty much milk, not thick at all. The cashier let us know they didn't have plastic lids for the regular sized cup so they would give us a bigger cup and more milkshake. Great, thank you! While the cashier was making it, she didn't use gloves. The straw that was given to us had no plastic cover on it to begin with. How do I know she washed her hands? After about 10-20 minutes, we get our food and go home. I had to drive back because my sisters burger wasn't what she ordered. When we walked in, my sister let the cashier know that her food wasn't right, only for cashier to respond with "why?!". I added that the burger was missing some items, and she questioned what we were saying as if we were in the wrong. My sister went on to list off everything she had ordered on her customized burger (bacon, avocado, lettuce, killa sauce on the side, no tomato!) just for the cashier to go into the register and find our order, read it off to us, and add tomato. My sister let her know again, that she didn't want tomato. If the order was almost correct in the system, why was it totally incomplete when it was brought to us? Took them less that 5 minutes to "remake" her food. When it was brought out, there were no apologies or polite customer service. A guy that kept walking from the back area to the front area came out, set the bag onto the counter and pushed it toward the edge of the counter. My sister went to see if it was her food and noticed the guy mumbling something until she got closer and heard him say "the remake?" she said yes and took the food. Still no "sorry about that" or anything to reassure us that this doesn't always happen. When we made it home (the second time) I thought I'd be able finally go ahead and eat my turkey burger, only to find that it was undercooked! Seriously?! Looks like it was heated just enough to appear done! Didn't get a chance to eat mine. Rest of the family says the food is okay, not really something to return to. After passing by it for over a year, we decided to try JC Burger. It was a very good experiance. Wished I been here before. Ordered the works. Its not as consuming one would think when you get plater. Basically its about a half pound of meat mixed in with sauteed onions cheese jalepenos. Nice burger and bun was spot on. Didnt fall apart during meal. Wife had a patty melt which also had jalepenos. Sides were really good. I ordered onion rings. Only complaint there was not enough. Wife ordered the tater tots. Both orders were ordered well done, so they were crispy. Both onion rings and tater tots were crispy on the outside and not in the middle. Nicely done folks. I thought id leaving a positive review. I'm not sure who the manager is but she was nice enough to give me a free meal on my next visit, unfortunately i'm visiting from out of town so i probably won't really get the chance so i wanted to pay it forward and give that free meal to another party of 2(mom and son) who waited as long as i did but only had one free meal ticket. That way they get to enjoy. The food was decent it wasnt anything extraordinary, i would give it 7.5 out of 10(had tater tote, onion rings, and the works) If i lived in mesquite i would probably be back, the customer service even though it took 30 mins to get our food when they said 15-20 i really appreciated them with the kind gesture considering myself and the family next to me didnt even complain. Would recommend to a friend and would support local businesses like these any day of the week! They also even had karoke going on during a friday night. Great management.
