We having bad luck here until today. We had Santa Fe dip, chicken tenders and chicken fried steak with mashed potato and green beans. The Santa Fe dip is always good. The chicken tender was nicely cook and not salty. The chicken tender was seasoned right and tender. Normally, we come here in the evening. It is always packed and service is not as good. Today we had excellent service and food was great. We had to wait for a little bit for our food; however, we didn't mind. Last time I had the tenders it was too salty. Today it is just right. read more

It's weird - I come here with my mom and we never have issues. I come with one of my friends and we get waitstaff that, I'm assuming, is brand new. With my mom, which is usually during the lunch rush, the staff is quick and attentive. When I went with my friend (twice in a week), we had the slowest service imaginable. I think it took about ten minute for them to even realize we were there, and take our drink orders. The food was fine as usual, the service was just super slow. Aforementioned friend and I came with my boyfriend, and they took forever to notice we were there (probably ten or twenty minutes before we even got our drink orders taken). On top of that, they got my boyfriend's order wrong, when they eventually brought out our food. I'm giving it 3 stars still, because those were two very isolated incidents, considering how many times I've come to this place! read more

Cheddars has been one of my family's go-to places for years now. Still really like this place. This place does get pretty crowded on weekends so I would definitely make reservations (even during lunch time). The wait staff is usually very nice and professional. Recently, my mom and I ordered a ton of food and got pretty full after appetizers. After placing the order, I asked if it was okay if we cancelled a order (only if it wasn't too late) the waiter immediately took it off our tab. I was pleasantly surprised by the way he handled it. As for vegetarian options, there aren't that many options. BUT, they do have a vegetarian plate and you can pick a few sides with a soup or salad. So, this is a nice place for lunch when you don't feel like eating too heavy. Prices are really good for the amount of food. Just a nice good ol typical American restaurant. A good place where everyone can find something to eat. You MUST try the spinach dip. read more

My very first meal from cheddar's was quite amazing. I tried the monte cristo and its probably my favorite dish. The powered sugar really does a lot for the flavor but a little bit the cheese/ham and powdered sugar somewhat messed with the flavor of the entire sandwich, but what adds into it is the side sauce they provide. Really recommend the monte cristo. read more

Update 11/11/2013: I had not visited this location in a year, and was disappointed in the overall decline. The menu has been reduced considerably , and the food was mediocre at best and with smaller portions than in the past. Prices are still cheap, and service was acceptable. I was astounded at how empty it was for a Saturday at lunchtime--it used to be packed! That alone speaks volume. I used to be a regular at this location, but unfortunately moved and it's not as conveniently located. Visited today, and am happy to report that Cheddars is still as good as before. Good food and service, huge menu, and HUGE portions for reasonable prices. I was glad to be back!! read more

I Love Cheddars! Had awesome waiters, brought my mama here for her 1st time. The waiter gave my nephew a few dollars for his birthday. He was funny and prompt. I always have had great service and food from here. I'm from California and this is my joint. Definitely not comparable to nasry Applebee's or Chili's. They are always consistent and of course drinks are thee best. read more

Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen - The most awesome waiters at the Irving location, cant think of his name but he was on point, personality was great! - American Near Me - Irving, Texas

Our family party of seven ate here for the first time Sunday after church. It was a very mediocre experience. The hostess did not welcome us, never smiled, and did not utter a syllable after saying, "how many"? Perhaps she was having a bad day. The restaurant is SO LOUD it is almost impossible to have a conversation. Two people in our party have hearing deficits, and a third uses two hearing aids. We had to yell to be able to hear one another. I went to ask the decidedly unfriendly hostess if management would be willing to turn the volume down on the blasting rock music. She nodded and walked away, again without uttering a sound. The music was turned down, so there's that. The service was slow, and we had to ask four separate times for Sweet N' Low to be brought to the table. All the orders were correct, so that's a plus. The chicken tenders with shrimp were a big hit as was the chicken fried steak. The grilled chicken salad was boringly average save the candied pecans added to it. The alfredo pasta was spicy and disappointing. The other meals were average. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but there are so many other places who really want to serve well, offer excellent meals in an environment far more conducive to socializing than this one, and appreciate their patrons enough to smile and say hello. We won't go back. read more

I looked forward to a visit to Cheddars as I haven't been to this chain in over 3 months - last visit was Columbia, MO I showed up and was immediately seated only to wait 25 minutes and never get acknowledged I flagged down a waitress and asked for a manager and five minutes later a gentlemen came out. I told the manager that no one had spoken to me or acknowledged me since I had been seated - over 30 minutes ago. The response - well we are busy! Seriously - empty tables everywhere! Maybe because you had me in s corner, maybe because I was alone, maybe because you didn't care -- either way NO SURE I WILL EVERY GO BACK TO A CHAIN THAT HAS THAT MINDSET! Disappointed to say the least!!!! read more

For the first time I was amazingly disappointed at Cheddars. I ordered the chicken strips and they were unbelieving hard and dry. I sent back that order and the 2nd batch was almost as dry and hard as the first one... Champ was a great waiter, he did all he could do. The other guests with me, however, loved their food. Note to self: next time don't settle for what they bring you. Send it back till they get it right!! read more

Cheddar's is definitely my all time favorite restaurant. This one was no exception! It was beautiful and delightful. We walked in and was immediately seated. The waiter was actually very nice and polite. She was an older lady. She actually gave us a free queso appetizer because the coupon wasn't working! I ordered the Monte Cristo and a strawberry lemonade. The only real complaint was the fans- they were not on. :-( It really took away from the aesthetic of the place. Also the "plates" that our food was delivered on was very... interesting. They were thin pieces of metal. They looked quite worn and were kind of dirty to be honest. Never experienced that a cheddar's before but its okay. tl;dr If you want a decently priced dinner or lunch this is the place to go! read more

The customer service is good when you can get someone. They get very busy at lunch and it can be hard to get someone to help you. They also take a long time to prepare food sometimes and the restaurant gets dirty. However, they have good deals during lunch. I love the chicken strips and that's what keeps me coming back! The batter is light and airy and the honey mustard is good. read more

This is literally my 3rd time coming here but it will definitely be my last. Whoever they have inside that kitchen as the head chef needs some help. I placed an order here and everything was absolutely cold and under cooked. Shame on me for giving you guys 3 times to mess up really simple orders.. y'all really need to change the name to cheddars "scrap" kitchen. read more

This place is great as long as you don't go into it with high expectations. Think in between Cotton Patch Cafe and Texas Road House... Its very inexpensive for a restaurant and you get a lot of food for what you pay for. Favorite Appetizers: Homemade Onion Rings, Chips and Homemade Queso, Edamame Meals: Chicken Fried Steak ($7.99), 8 oz Top Sirloin Steak ($9.99) You are going to get decent service no matter which one of these locations you go to. They take Casual cafe to a whole new level. You can always add a caesar salad to any meal for like $2.00 or something. Its really good stuff and I recommend you try it if you have not already. read more

A great economical place to dine and hang out. The drinks are very low and the quality of food is very good! The buttery croissants are excellent and if you're open to try something different the chicken spaghetti dish it is super good. Two thumbs up! read more

DO NOT EVER EAT HERE .... I've waited 30 minitues to be seated ... then when I was finally seated I waited another 20 minutes for a waitress that never came back. I asked a man did he know where our waitress was he said he didn't but took our order. I thought we had received somebody better but he was just as bad as she was it took forever for our appetizers to get to us it arrived the same time as our food did. After waiting a hour to get the food we never seen him again. Never received a refill on our drinks, nobody ever came to ask us if we needed anything but here's the icing on the cake we did want dessert to go. As I'm sitting here writing this review it's been 30 MINITUES since I asked for the dessert and I'm still waiting DO NOT I REPEAT DO. OT COME EAT AT THIS HORRIBLE PLACE OF A CUSTOMER SERVICE read more

Well it's my second visit to Cheddars in a short time. The food continues to impress but the kitchen doesn't get the food out in a timely manner. It's so bad that you want to leave but stay because you've already invested 45 minutes. The servers are friendly and caring so I don't blame them but where is a manager? So I'm hoping to visit again for good food but only when my life is so bad that sitting in Cheddars all day will be a highlight. By the way, awesome monte Christo sandwich, Buffalo wrap, broccoli cheese casserole, gone croissants but running out of French fries seems suspect. Sorry for the rant but hope they get it together soon. read more

Holy Moses. I'm giving the actual restaurant 4 stars and the clientele 1 star - averaging out at 3 stars. I met up a girlfriend for dinner on a Friday night around 6:00 p.m. - the beginning of prime dining time. We were greeted with a friendly disposition, asked for preference on a booth or table, and waited about 5 minutes for a booth. Our waiter seemed a little frazzled, and no wonder. The 6-top next to us and the 4-top next to them were all together, all yelling and hollering at each other - being incredibly loud. People in the section from other tables further down were turning and staring. I'll admit to having a killer headache and was a bit sensitive to the noise, but still.... it's Friday night: cut up, but have some level of decency. Our drinks, appetizers and food all came out correctly, though I could have used a little more time to enjoy the appetizer before the food came out. I remember the chips and queso being better than they were. But my Hawaiian Chicken Salad was delicious, and came with my most favorite thing (next to the cookie monster): a croissant! The loud 6-top and 4-top left - I was SO stoked! And then they were replaced by an even louder 6-top, 4-top AND a boothful of offspring. SERIOUSLY?! And then our poor waiter managed to dump some drinks that he'd brought out for some guests. Bless him: he couldn't win. At that point, we passed on the cookie monster option and rolled out. Seriously, I would have given another star if the management would have been visible and perhaps attempted to calm those groups. I won't be back just because of the clientele. read more

I love Cheddar's and their awesome prices oh and food. Great margaritas for 3.95 who wouldn't enjoy that. But that's not what I ordered this time. I'm just saying I've had the margaritas and they are great. I ordered a strawberry lemonade and it was delicious as always with real pieces of strawberry inside mmm. I ordered the chicken wrap entree and it was great and very filling. Ooo and who could pass up on dessert, the monster cookie was calling my name so I answered and ordered it. Just so delicious. A big cookie in a skillet with chocolate sauce and ice cream and whipped cream and a cherry on top. Yummy. The atmosphere is very relaxing, it can be a great chill spot with the friends. I love the fans and the fish tank they have at each locations. read more

I have always liked Cheddar's food. However as I met a friend for a drink in the bar I was quickly reminded why I dislike the Irving location. The bar ALWAYS smells like mildew. I don't know if it's the sanitizer wash or just spilled left over drinks. It was so unpleasant we just had the one and were done. Instead opting to head next door to Saltgrass for a much nicer environment. Finally I'll remember not to go back!! read more

Went here with a group for a birthday dinner. The friend that was hosting the party had asked for a table for 12. When we were buzzed they took us to a table that was too small. We had to wait another 15-20 minutes for a table that was the correct size. The waitress was pleasant and took orders carefully. She seemed a little overwhelmed by the large group but she did a good job. We had brought a cake and that was taken to the back until we were ready for it. I ordered the chicken caesar pasta salad. The dressing wasn't great, very thin and didn't offer much flavor. My friends seemed to like their food so that was good. When it came time to have dessert the waitress brought fresh plates and forks for us. Overall it was a nice experience and I don't see a reason to not go back in the future! Yes, it can get loud but that can be true of any restaurant during dinner hour. 4 stars because of the good service. I docked a star because they should have known the correct table size for how many of us there were and not made us wait for a second table. read more

This place has continued to decline ever since it was bought out by corp america. I have contacted their corp offices each time and they say they will correct the issues. We go back periodically to see if they have and it seems it's worse than before. The service is our biggest issue. The employees don't seem to care. It is quite some time before we are acknowledge by the waitress, the seating area is dirty, our drinks go empty, they can't seem to cooked the steak to order, it always has to be sent back, so much so that we quit ordering it. We noticed this last time they have no longer have the quality thick napkins. We use to eat here weekly. read more

Food was great but service left little to be desired. Went in for lunch waited 5 minutes to be greeted. Hostess chaos. We were then seated and waited for the server another 5 minutes or so. She came and took our drink order reluctantly. Brought drinks and then ghosted for 10 minutes. Took our order, never came back for refills. Delivered our food and tried to serve everyone the wrong entree. Never came back for refills had to ask 3 separate times. Did not clear dishes nothing. I think her name is Elle but no idea. read more

I came to try the food here, regardless of the previous reviews left from other people. I ordered chicken tenders and shrimp with two sides, the fried and mashed potatoes. Well to be honest the food was no different from the fast food places just with fancy atmosphere, silverwares and the waitstaff. I'm talking about the taste, the portion, and the actual price. They sure do have the coolest atmosphere with the ceiling and stuff but I would rather pay less money and eat the exact same food at the Burger Kings or Cane's. read more

Today was my 1st time to visit any Cheddars, it's typical American food, not bad but not anything better then a Chili's or Applebee's. They are all pretty much the same, service was relatively fast & relatively accurate. Though our waitress felt the need to argue with me about a mistake SHE made on my order. Still have her a decent tip, though I was tempted not to. The only truly outstanding about the meal was the butter croissants (seriously addictive). read more

Visited today at lunch and while there was plenty of seating available, apparently the staff were short on hands. My waitress was attentive when she could be, but I could tell she was overloaded with tables. The food was cooked just right - I ordered the tilapia with shrimp, green beans and a baked potato. I could see a TV with a slideshow tempting guests with pictures of their food. I almost ordered dessert to go. I normally dine alone for lunch, so I'd suggest you bring a chatty friend if you dine here, if you're inclined to entertain yourself with the internet. read more

Terrible restaurant. My parents ate the Grilled White Fish last night for dinner and woke up multiple times in the night to use the bathroom and have been nauseous, clammy, and sick all day today. Placed a order for take out tonight and was not pleased. I got all the way home and I had no chips and queso and no order of croissants. I called and was told how surprising this is and how this isn't how they do business. Well obviously not or you wouldn't be in business. I was asked if I wanted to come back and get my missing food. I live 20 minutes away so of course I don't. The person I was talking to never offered any kind of refund only that they would send me a coupon by email for a discount. Do you really think I want to come back and have my order messed up again? As of the writing of this it's been 6 hours and still no email with my mysterious discount coupon. read more

I liked this place. Our bar tender was attentive and a little eccentric. Screams HEARD for literally everything which we thought was funny even though we work in bars and understand it's normal. I ordered the 6oz steak medium rare plus with baked potato and broccoli cheese casserole my steak was cooked perfectly my baked potato was ok however I was disappointed with the broccoli rice casserole it was all broccoli couldnt find much rice in it. Cheddars touts itself as a scratch kitchen, meaning the food is prepared fresh but on this visit, they missed the mark. I ordered grilled salmon with a cheddar broccoli side and mashed potatoes.
