Tupelo Honey is a southern style restaurant chain that serves comfort food in a casual setting. They recently refreshed their menu, and they have become one of my favorite casual lunch spots in Irving-Las Colinas. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Tupelo Honey is a stand-alone restaurant conveniently located near Hwy 114 and 161. There's plenty of parking, outdoor seating, and a mixture of tables, booths, and bar seating. Speaking of the bar, it acts as a beautiful backdrop for the entire restaurant. 1 Star. Service - The service is always friendly. Our server is always smiling, and I can't help but feel welcome with southern charm. Tupelo Honey trains its staff well, and I really enjoy coming here and interacting with the staff. 1 Star. Food - I always begin with the Biscuits with a Cause. These light, flakey biscuits are served warm with a crispy exterior and soft, flakey inside. But honestly, the biscuits act as a delivery mechanism for the butter and blue berry jam. I always ask for an extra side of butter and jam because I use it all. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Honey Dusted Fried Chicken (dark). The chicken was perfectly fried, crispy, and sweet. And the dark meat was juicy. Pro Tips - use your hands. Another great dish was experienced. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I have yet to have a below average dish at Tupelo Honey. Yes, it's a chain. But it's also a darn good chain that keeps its menu fresh and is worth multiple visits. 1 Star. read more

This place is a little hidden but this does not stop the crowd from stopping by to eat. Super cute location, nicely decorated, and has a photo op. They did seem a little busy and I believe there may have been a shift change at some point. It took us 15 mins to get a table outside. I will add the wait time is the only bummer in my experience. It took a good minute to get our beverages and food. There was a crowd but it seemed to be in and out pretty quicky. The food was great! I ordered their sangria, very refreshing and not overly sweet. Southern shakshuka. $15.99 two eggs* baked in a tomato, spinach, & peperonata sauce, over stone-ground goat cheese grits, topped with basil (710 cal) - This combo was good, loved the creaminess and even had leftovers for the next day. Sweet & Spicy Fried Chicken & Waffles $16.99 Hand-breaded crispy chicken tenders drizzled with sriracha honey, served over golden buttermilk waffles. --enjoyed the Spiciness it truly was subtle but did grow as you continued to eat. The buttermilk Waffles were fluffy and light and full bite with the drizzled syrup was everything. Enjoyed the flavors of the whiskey flight and happy you have the flavor cards to be able to give the tasting a proper review. Over all price is average in comparison but the food quality is there so I have no issue spending an extra dollar or so. I would like to stop by again when it's less busy. read more

So let's talk about Tupelo Honey in Las Colinas. I was genuinely excited to try this spot, but overall it was pretty disappointing. I'll give a little grace since it was Valentine's Day, but waiting almost 90 minutes for our food just isn't acceptable -- even on a busy night. Now the food. We ordered chicken strips, meatloaf, a chicken salad sandwich, and shrimp and grits. My chicken strips were only mildly warm, the mashed potatoes were extremely salty (and I love salt), but the mac and cheese was good. The meatloaf was just okay, the chicken salad sandwich was okay as well, and the shrimp and grits were actually great. Service started off pleasant, but the follow-up was lacking. Our waters were refilled only once during the long time we were there. We also ordered soup that didn't arrive until the third time we asked about it. Once it finally came, it was delicious -- but having to ask three times shouldn't happen. Will I come back? Probably not. Would I recommend it? Maybe during a slower time, but definitely not during peak hours. read more

Warm and welcoming staff! Michael's service today was excellent, mindful and courteous check-ins. We ordered the half chicken which probably explains the longer than usual wait for food to arrive. It was definitely savory spicy and tasty but it did arrive lukewarm as did the soup on his plate, our neighboring guests arrived much later than us, received their meals and finished before we even got ours on the table...so not sure what happened there with orders coming out of the kitchen. Met at Tupelo Honey with a couple of friends for lunch. The food was great! I only managed to get a picture of the fried okra, but I also ordered the fried green tomatoes and the half sandwich lunch special with tomato soup, with a sweet tea to drink. All really delicious! There are lots of great options on the menu for both food and drinks. I have been to both locations by this point, and it was consistently good. This is my first time going to the Irving location and it was the perfect spot for a group lunch! We got biscuits, fried green tomatoes and a half order of fried chicken as starters. The biscuits hit the spot and the jam and butter that it comes with is so delicious, no notes!! For our meal, my entire table got the flat iron steak and it comes with two sides. I got a soup and a salad but you can choose from Mac and cheese, other standard southern comfort sides. They also had a full bar great beer menu and even had coffee options. The blueberry cold brew was so good I would come back just for that cold brew. The food hit the spot, especially if you're craving some comfort food. read more

Stopped here for a late brunch. No wait and not completely full on a Sunday late morning. The service was pretty slow. It seemed like the staff was crawling at a snails pace. We finally got an order in and started with the fried green tomatoes. They were pretty good and liked the super crispy outside. I had the shrimp and grits and it was good but so rich. I could only eat half of it. That seemed to the theme for our brunch. The food was very rich and hard to eat it all. The taste was good but whatever they used in the dishes was extremely rich. It's was a wonderful Sunday Morning and we decided to enjoy a delicious meal at Tupelo Honey. I was we entered we stood for about 10 minutes before the staff acknowledged us. FANTASTIC HAPPY HOUR SELECTION AND PRICES ! Happy hour here for the win, seriously! I had been to a Yelp event at this spot before, but my husband and I are always on the hunt for solid and affordable happy hour deals. This place was absolutely worth checking out. They offer a great selection of happy hour appetizers, but the real surprise was their happy hour entrées for just $12.95. There were about 10-12 options, and each comes with a side (about 7 choices). Score. We started with the fried green tomatoes, served on a creamy grit-meets-risotto base that was unexpectedly exceptional. Then we shared the happy hour entrée of cast iron pork with a side of Asian-style Brussels sprouts. To be fair, the sprouts would probably shine more in the winter when they're smaller and sweeter, but the pork was fantastic. Crispy and juicy bites all around. A couple of warm tortillas on the side would make that dish even better. We will definitely be back. The cocktails during happy hour are a steal at just $5 each. My husband and I met up with some friends at Tupelo Honey! I've actually heard a lot of good things about this restaurant from my FIL and colleagues in NC! I forgot we had one so close to us here in DFW! Ambiance: Beautiful interiors! Very spacious, bright, and welcoming! Service: Friendly service, but wasn't all that quick. The food makes up for this! Food: if you love southern cuisine, Tupelo Honey is the place to try! Appetizer- Fried Pickles. The fried pickles thinly sliced and are lightly battered. Very different from what you get at a State/County fair. I love the tanginess of the pickles! We had dinner Sunday evening and it was amazing. Food was delicious. We started with fried green tomatoes and ate the original fried chicken. | Decent Experience but Some Disappointments This wasn't my first time at this Tupelo Honey location, and we were here celebrating a birthday. I started with a mule, but it was overly sweet, so I switched to a margarita, which was much better. For my meal, I ordered the steak and eggs, which were cooked perfectly--until I found a long piece of hair on my plate. The waitress was very nice, promptly removed it from the bill, and offered a replacement, but by then, I had lost my appetite. On the bright side, the biscuits with blueberry compote were absolutely amazing. I also got a slice of bourbon pecan pie to go, and while the flavor was incredible, the portion size was disappointingly small--a sliver rather than a proper slice. Tupelo Honey is located off W John Carpenter Freeway and High Point Drive in Irving in the Las Colinas area. Before I get started, "Kiss my grits". That's the first thing you'll see when you step through the front door :) Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar has some really good food, but the fried chicken's probably a must try. The fried chicken's just plain delicious, whether it's on a waffle, as a sandwich, or just by itself. Aside from soft drinks, they also have mimosas, bloody Mary's and some beer on draft as well; bonus points for the craft beer! The staff's super friendly, polite, and patient which makes looking through the menu relaxing. They have a huge parking lot and a good amount of seating inside, although it does get packed pretty quickly so get there early or be prepared for a little bit of a wait, worth it though. I was invited by a friend to try this restaurant for an after-work wine down. This place is kind of off the beaten path. At the Las Colinas location, it's nestled between a hotel and an apartment complex. It was pretty empty when we arrived, just in time before the after-work crowd. The restaurant is spacious, with lots of windows allowing natural sunlight. Our server attended to us immediately. We started with a cocktail and debated over the menu, which was a bit overwhelming--so many options to choose from. First, let me say... a must-try is the biscuits. Buttery, with a crust on the outside and pillow-soft, fluffy inside. The best biscuit I've had. The portions for your meals are reasonable for the price. I tried the Sweet & Spicy Waffles and the smothered chicken. These dishes didn't blow my socks off, but they are very interesting to try. read more

I ordered a blueberry lemon mimosa. I should've gotten the mimosa flight but I'll save it for next time. I then ordered the sweet and spicy chicken and waffles, added bacon as well. I usually don't order chicken and waffles anymore because I find most places either disappoint with the chicken being bland or the waffle being soggy. Tupelo's literally gave me crispy, juicy, well seasoned chicken with a really yummy sweet and spicy sauce. The waffle was crispy on the edges and soft on the inside. Literally perfect. Bacon was good, nothing special, just bacon but I love bacon so I'm biased. I really enjoyed the chicken and waffles and it was the perfect amount of food as well. I was apart of the clean plate committee. Everyone else food looked yummy and I seen so many other options I want to try. I cannot wait to come back here. I will be back very soon for those shrimp and grits! Service was also great even tho we had a larger party. Our server was very attentive and nice. Arriving shortly after they were opened I was greeted by a friendly face. After being sat in a booth , Nemo, my waiter approached. He gave great recommendations but I ended up going with the mimosa flight, sweet potato pancake and originally the sage sausage which a changed to the regular sausage. The service was amazing, the food was phenomenal and the ambiance of the restaurant is very bohemian eclectic. I love the atmosphere and the location. Definitely 10/10 read more

The fried green tomatoes would have been better if they weren't sitting on top of the grits, which made them soggy. I like crunchy fried green tomaties. Interior is thoughtful light and modern with a southern charm. I loved the restroom tile so much it's now in my restroom at home. Food is classic flavors and well prepared and presented. There is no miss in my opinion on the menu. If you want brunch, they've got you, if you want soul food and a hefty d8nner they've got you. If you wanna go sit at the bar for hand crafted cocktails you guessed it, they've got you. This area and location are expanding rapidly but tupelo is a staple in this location and Good for a bite solo or with a large group. You can't miss here! read more
