The building's a bit hidden away but it looks like they get most of their business for lunch. It's nestled perfectly between a bunch of office buildings. We went for dinner. The decor was very interesting and they had the three stooges playing. Overall the food was okay. I did notice most things needed more salt though. The burger was pretty good. Everything was quite affordable. The service was amazing. We might be back but most likely just for lunch. Overall, I'm glad that we tried it.

Southern Recipe is nestled in an unassuming strip mall in Irving. I've passed by it hundreds of times on my way to work, but never popped in. Recently my office moved very close to this location, so I decided to give them a try for lunch. Now my only regret is that I didn't go here sooner! I've been singing the praises of Southern Recipe to all of my coworkers, some of whom are already aware of how delicious their food is! Everyone there is quite friendly, you can tell they have a lot of regulars. They did lose a star because I had to wait a very long time for my check because the waitresses were chatting with other customers for long periods of time. It's great that y'all are friendly, but you have to balance that with service, especially for working folks that are there on their lunch break. The food was a full 5 stars! Best chicken sandwich in Irving, in my opinion. The grilled chicken was tender and juicy, the bacon was crisp, the bun had outstanding flavor and texture, and the onion rings were the crunchiest I've ever had (also reheated wonderfully in a toaster oven). The portion was beyond generous, I took half home with me for later. I also love that they bring you out warm chips and salsa, and the salsa is very authentic, not the slightly spiced ketchup you get some places, lol. Already coming back and bringing the fam for my MIL's bday!

My work friend took me there. He had the pork chop plate and OMG, huge chunk of pork and the sides were pretty big too! I had the cheeseburger, which was also huge and very flavorful...I didn't leave a crumb lol. The waiter was super sweet and with a great sense of humor. The owners are Latinos and make you feel right at home! I can tell they have their regulars.

I had hesitations on this place. Didn't seem very southern at first. The menu has a lot of Mexican dishes so I tried a sandwich first. It was great. A BLT with their homemade potatoes. They were amazing! Please try them if you like potatoes, not the frozen stuff. My friends food was good as well they said. I stole a bite or the chicken fried steak and it was juicy. Please keep in mind I don't write reviews Fareal. I just felt they needed better pics and reviews. So hey! Try it.

Cozy little place nestled in a small strip center not far from Northlake College at the corner of Walnut Hill Lane and Storey Road. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner this place is there for you. They open every morning at 7, except for Sunday when they open at 7:30. During the week you can grab a bite as late as 10, and on the weekends until 9. I come here for breakfast before work sometimes and pick up an order togo. The staff is super, the food is great, and it is a delicious way to start off my day.

So delicious. The service was prompt. One of the best egg sandwiches I have had in a while. Oh and the home made potatoes.... Yuummmyyy!!!!

What kind of meat is the cfs?
    LaToya M.

What kind of meat are they using for the chicken fried steak? It was disgusting and tough. I don't even know if it was beef. A frozen cfs is 4 stars compared to what they serve. See my pic. The blackeyed peas taste canned. Both brown and white gravy are packaged. Mashed potatoes I believe were real. The best thing were the collard greens. They tasted really fresh and weren't overly seasoned. I'd come back just for those.

After I left a review, the manager, Amanda Stewart, reached out personally, inviting me to call and share the details. Amanda, though new to the company, has years of industry experience and truly understands the value of great service. She apologized repeatedly and invited us back. We returned this past Thursday, and it was a complete turnaround. Amanda made sure we felt valued, and Damien, our server, was phenomenal. The food was spot-on, and the entire experience left us with a much brighter outlook. We will absolutely be returning. Thank you, Amanda, and thank you, Damien, for making it right.

My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Tupelo Honey is a stand-alone restaurant conveniently located near Hwy 114 and 161. There's plenty of parking, outdoor seating, and a mixture of tables, booths, and bar seating. Speaking of the bar, it acts as a beautiful backdrop for the entire restaurant. 1 Star. Service - The service is always friendly. Our server is always smiling, and I can't help but feel welcome with southern charm. Tupelo Honey trains its staff well, and I really enjoy coming here and interacting with the staff. 1 Star. Food - I always begin with the Biscuits with a Cause. These light, flakey biscuits are served warm with a crispy exterior and soft, flakey inside. But honestly, the biscuits act as a delivery mechanism for the butter and blue berry jam. I always ask for an extra side of butter and jam because I use it all. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Honey Dusted Fried Chicken (dark). The chicken was perfectly fried, crispy, and sweet. And the dark meat was juicy. Pro Tips - use your hands. Another great dish was experienced. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I have yet to have a below average dish at Tupelo Honey. Yes, it's a chain. But it's also a darn good chain that keeps its menu fresh and is worth multiple visits. 1 Star.

At first, I was a little hesitant because the menu is fairly small, but after my meal, I can see why. Every dish we ordered was absolutely a 10/10. I had the chicken with greens and shrimp fried rice, along with the fried green tomatoes and cornbread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I honestly don't have a single negative thing to say about either the food or the service. This was an amazing dining experience, and I will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

I do want to start with the positives. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, and provided excellent service. The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.

For sides, I chose the mac and cheese, cornbread, tallow fries, and Brussels sprouts. This is the kind of meal you remember for a while. The Wagyu tomahawk ribeye was the star of the table. Tender, flavorful, and packed with that rich beefy taste you'd expect from a steak of that caliber. The garlic stuffed filet was incredibly tender and added another layer of flavor, while the New York strip had a great texture and a perfect mesquite grilled finish. The Gulf shrimp were cooked well and added a nice contrast to all the steak. Smoky, juicy, and full of flavor. The sides were excellent across the board. The mac and cheese was creamy and rich, the cornbread was warm and comforting, the tallow fries were crispy and addictive, and the Brussels sprouts provided a nice balance to the feast. The restaurant itself has a true Texas atmosphere with a rustic upscale feel. Service was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience feel special. This wasn't just dinner. It felt like a Texas steakhouse experience from start to finish. Definitely one of the most memorable meals I've had in the Dallas area.

Clearly a popular spot. We shared an appetizer, a steak, sides, and a dessert between us 3. - Fried Tomatoes (appetizer): not bad! Light, not greasy at all, and that savory sauce on top was yummy: - Wagyu Tomahawk: the star of the show. Loved the peppered crust which was full of flavor. Not a true "Japanese wagyu" texture, but still an excellent steak overall. - Sides (mashed potatoes, fries, broccolini, cornbread): All pretty good across the board. I liked the cornbread the most and wished there was more of it. Usually a side of cornbread is much more substantial and comes with honey butter. - Steak sauce: we ask for a side of this. Whatever they had was unique and great. Fruity and tangy, a great complement to the tomahawk. - Pecan Pie: look at the photo! A huge, tall slice. No notes. Loved the dense ice cream on top. Perfect way to end the meal. Overall: no critiques, just an all-around great dinner. Definitely recommend the tomahawk and pie.
