Our visit to Charleston's (Clay Terrace) was quite delightful. My mom had been wanting to go to Charleston's for some time. I decided to make a reservation and treat her to lunch for her birthday. The weather was amazing! We were greeted by a cheerful staff who immediately showed us to our table. The ambiance was beautiful. The subtle lighting made for a more quiet and inviting atmosphere. Mom selected the fried catfish with Cole slaw. She also added a loaded baked potato in lieu of fries. She was not disappointed. She said that the catfish was fried to perfection, and the cole slaw and loaded baked potato rounded out her entree nicely. She was quite pleased! I chose the grilled pork chops(see picture). I decided to pair them with a loaded baked potato, cole slaw and glazed carrots. I have eaten at Charleston's on numerous occasions. This was my first time selecting the grilled pork chops. I was very impressed! The chops were plentiful, seasoned and grilled well. They were full of flavor, and very tender. The loaded baked potato was delicious and full of fixings! I will say that the glazed carrots absolutely melted in my mouth! I decided to add them to my meal as a last minute side dish. I was happy that I did. The cole slaw was not a winner as it usually is. I found it to be a little dry, bland and overall, tasteless. With the exception of the cole slaw, my meal was nearly perfect! I took a majority of it home for dinner later that evening! Lastly, our server asked if we'd be having dessert. I declined. Mom selected the bread pudding to go for her birthday dessert. She truly enjoyed it at home later in the afternoon. read more

Soooo good. I used to come here a lot when I was younger but haven't been in years. I figured I'd give it a try and everything was amazing. I had the trout, mixed vegetables, mashed potatoes, and a side salad. The side salad was so delicious with the thick shreds of cheese and the croissants in addition, are amazing. I definitely ate at least two of them! The food was outstanding. We will most definitely be back. My boyfriend got the sirloin with mashed potatoes and salad. The staff were great. we had one main waiter, but others would ask, as they passed by our table of six, if they could bring us anything. I think everyone enjoyed their order. We arrived around 6:00 PM and sat in the bar due to a 35 minute wait. We were promptly greeted by one of the bartenders who took our drink order. After the drink arrived, we waited over 20 minutes to place our food order, and that was only because we told her more than once that we were ready. I was looking for a good curbside option tonight. I wanted something with fresh options and large portions and decided on Charleston's, and I wasn't at all disappointed! Three huge entrees and dessert came out to about $70. I ordered the Walt's Champagne grilled chicken salad, the catfish platter with fries and slaw, Hoosier pork tenderloin sandwich, and the New York cheesecake with berries. The salad was absolutely delicious, with a honeyed croissant accent, delicious dressing and fresh, premium toppings in abundance. The catfish was super tender on the inside, fresh fish flavor, and crispy cornmeal breading, the slaw was nice and pickle-y in flavor. The ramekin of tartar sauce was tasty and filled to the very top. The pork tenderloin sandwich wasn't my favorite, it just lacked the right punch of flavor. The breading could have been better seasoned or something, but even with that said it still was what I would consider "good"! And the cheesecake was a huge towering slice, super fluffy texture with both fresh berries and a berry sauce. Everything was hot and fresh and the curbside process was quick and painless. We love it here. The chicken picata is amazing best we have ever had. We try to make it once a month. The last time we went they gave me one piece of oddly breaded chicken on my dish. My family and I dined at Charleston's this evening for dinner. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive to our needs. The service we received from the moment we walked in the restaurant, to us walking out was outstanding. Every employee in the restaurant seems to be looking for opportunities to make your dinning experience top notch. The food is presented well and comes out of the kitchen faster than expected. Love this location just as much as the Castleton location on 82nd. Katrina was awesome and the food was perfect! Even though it looked like a full house for NYE dinner, everything came out with great timing. Boyfriends prime rib looked amazing! He said it was great. I had baked potato soup (VERY good.. tons of fresh flavors with the added real bacon and chopped green onions. I didn't have a great experience last time but it was elsewhere. - Spinach and Artichoke dip is excellent because they accompany it with salsa and sour cream. My only complaint here has to do with the chips. They're so thin that hey break and crumb EVERYWHERE!! - Baked Potato Soup | There is no comparison . Charleston's has the best hands down. The pieces of potato are uniform and perfectly cooked. - Salads come with the most delectable honey croissant. House Salad - my favorite kind. no cheese! Lots of folks enjoy the Caesar too. - Fries are thin and crispy. - Chicken Avocado Club Sandwich - my BFF swears by it as "life changing" but it's not my favorite thing. - Chicken Tenders - the SAUCES from BBQ and Honey Mustard are phenomenal. Prime Rib - Maybe the best in Indiana. It's got flavor! No crust, but it's still spectacular. The au jus is really good but you have to ask for horseradish and/or horseradish cream, they didn't bring it outright. Filet - Good steak. read more

Food tasted great! However, I have to something about the delivery to the table. Waitress copied my request to have my shrimpcargot brought out with my husbands salad but not hat didn't happen. Therefore, I sat there twiddling my thumbs while he ate. Also, I requested extra rolls with my salad, my main course. Instead , they were brought out at the same time as my husbands salad. When my shrimp was as brought out he eating his main course. But since my main course wasn't brought out later he was twiddling his thumbs while I ate. Very poor timing. read more

I personally enjoy a light and airy atmosphere so it's a little too moody for me. They also don't have patio seating which is why i don't come here often BUT! The food is so good. The menu and recipes are consistently delicious. My kids love the kids menu at Charlestons AND The dessert is top of the line and the service is also fantastic. Man, no matter where I am from Indy to AZ, whenever I see a Charleston's establishment I get this buzzing pang of nostalgia. The place and people just represent all things good in a local bar restaurant. Not too foo-foo and not too dive. The service is impeccable, food consistently awesome, and the beer, well, is tasty crisp and ice cold. I hit the local Charleston's here in Carmel, IN, ordering the Cream Spinach Artichoke Dip as an opener and their infamous Hickory Burger for the entree. And like so many times prior, both were just fantastic, as was the service. Highly recommend Charleston's for a family meal, chilling with friends type food and drinks, or just catching a game at the bar. read more
