    Shrimp Scampi
    Chad C.

We had an impromptu dinner here a couple of nights ago with some international guests after I searched Yelp for nearby restaurants. I enjoyed the low lighting ambiance and feel of the dining room which also has a separate bar area. I had checked out a few Yelp reviews and I noticed Shrimp Scampi mentioned on more than one of them. Two of us ordered it and it was fantastic and very delicious. Our server was attentive and personable which made for a very pleasant experience.

I went for a friends birthday party on a Sunday and had the chicken piccata. My husband ordered the fried catfish, one daughter ordered creamy spinach artichoke dip, and other daughter ordered chicken fingers and okra. We also had the shrimp cargot appetizer. I went to bed; tossed and turned, experiencing extreme stomach pains, I ended up with food poisoning and missed work the next day. I emailed the restaurant and never received a response. I do not recommend this restaurant. The chicken must have been undercooked but I couldn't tell because it was a pasta dish with lemon seasoning. The daughter that ordered chicken tenders thought they smelled like dish soap. Our waiter was fantastic.

We finally checked out Charleston's after church, and let's just say... they set the bar high for a first visit! The place was busy (pro tip: make a reservation) but the vibe was perfect.. dim lighting, cozy atmosphere, and great people watching from our corner booth. Honestly, half the fun was watching plates go by and trying to guess what everyone ordered. lol Jess was our waitress and she was amazing from the moment we sat down! Friendly, attentive, and just the right amount of checking in. I kicked things off with a lemon drop (10/10 choice), and we ordered the dynamite shrimp appetizer, which lived up to its name. Delicious with a little kick. Then came the big decision: shrimp scampi or chicken parm. The mashed potatoes tipped the scales because the craving was real. Chicken parm was crispy, flavorful, and absolutely hit the spot. And yes, the mashed potatoes delivered. No regrets. But I WILL be back for that shrimp scampi because now I need to know! Also... the portions? Generous. Prepare for leftovers or prepare to loosen your pants a notch. We were told we HAD to try the honey butter croissants, and wow... the hype is real. Light, buttery, melt in your mouth goodness. We showed serious self control by ordering just one. During lunch we also met Maddie, another server, and ended up chatting about food and her menu favorites like we'd known her forever. Love when a place feels welcoming like that! For dessert we were hoping for the brownie (RIP to that menu item apparently), so we went with the warm chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream, which was still a win. Then the manager, Rachel, stopped by to introduce herself and after hearing it was our first time, surprised us with cheesecake on the house. Safe to say they know how to make a first impression! Between the food, the service, and the cozy vibe, this place made us feel like regulars already. Charleston's, we'll definitely be back!

I had came here on Mother's Day to take my mom out. It was a wait but I was able to get on the waitlist before arriving to the restaurant by doing a reservation on the Yelp app. It was so convenient because by the time I got there I didn't have to wait long at all before my table was ready. Our server was Cadence who was a great server due to her being very helpful and quick. My mom had ordered the catfish meal and I had the chicken meal. My meal came out just fine without any issues. My mom's catfish wasn't done all the way at first and the manager was nice enough to send it back and give my mom some gumbo soup while she waited for it to be done. Despite this happening they were willing to make it right and make her a fresh meal that was done. The environment of the restaurant was very cozy due to the lighting there. The decor was really nice. Also, the prices were your typical prices for a nice meal. I enjoyed the shrimp I had got it was delicious. Overall the experience wasn't so bad here despite the mess up but they showed great customer service.

Super friendly staff! We were in celebrating my son getting into a great college program. The staff were more than happy to celebrate with us. The restaurant is crowded by design and a little dark without being elegant, so that knocks a star. But the food was excellent at the price point and, again, staff were great.

Food and Drink: I had Charleston's today for an early dinner! It was my first time so I went all out and I am so glad I did! For an appetizer, we had the dynamite shrimp. They were flavorfully sauced and yet still crispy! A light level of spicy just enough to still enjoy the flavor. For drinks I had the Cranberry Spiced Mule and then an Amaretto Sour. I love a fruit-based cocktail and both of these drinks were perfectly made and still strong yet neither the flavor nor the liquor were overpowering the other, I would definitely get these again. For dinner, I was left FULL, HAPPY, and SLEEPY. The grand trifecta in my opinion. I had the ribs, loaded mashed potatoes, and the glazed carrots. Another thing I loved about this place is that they let you swap around your sides on most of the entrees. After getting a few recommendations from staff, this was the best combination hands down. The ribs were tender, seasoned well and not too much sauce. The potatoes were spectacular. And the carrots were a surprise hit for me. All in all, I praise Charleston's for their portions. The food and drinks were great and I had enough leftover to take home. I'm a happy first timer! Customer Service: Jess was our waitress and she was beyond awesome! Personable, patient, knowledgeable of the menu and customer favorites. She was very attentive to the table and to her other customers. There wasn't a moment where I didn't see her conversing with tables, checking on them, or bringing them whatever they needed. Maddie was also awesome to speak with. When getting recommendations, she was honest and detailed about her own favorites. Near the end of dinner, she also came over to speak to us about food in general. She was a joy and very cool and polite! Rachel is the manager and I sensed that she sets a pretty good tone with all of the staff. She also checked on us near the end of dinner and as we were first timers, we got dessert on the house! Specifically the cheesecake! Throughout dinner, I noticed her helping with getting food out which lets me know she's down to work with her staff and ensure all patrons have a wonderful meal and experience. Ambiance: This place was pretty busy! It was after church and my assumption is that it's popular in Sundays, but it is a VIBE. It was dim lit, casual but also intimate. It strongly reminded me of a place back in my hometown of Memphis called "Houston's". The atmosphere is a vibe for family dinners, group dinner parties, or even a nice date. From the hostess to the waitresses, the customer service is excellent and you will feel welcomed no matter the occasion. I highly recommend as part of any type of celebratory dinner or weekend plans.

I love the warm inviting atmosphere here. Our server (along with the hostess) was absolutely the sweetest person and the food was delicious. This is a great place to spend an evening on a cold winter night.

Wow! Why have I not been aware of how great CHARLESTON'S is? After a recent morning event in Westfield, my sister invited my wife and I to join her and her husband for lunch at Charleston's. She highly recommended them and we learned why. First, the service from "everyone" was unbelievably top notch. Not just friendly, knowledgeable and efficient, but so very attentive. Our server, Raven was superb from all aspects throughout our meal. Water and iced tea glasses constantly filled, empty dished immediately removed and regularly checking how our experience was going. I stopped her to comment how things were moving like a well oiled machine. Raven explained it is the attention that is given to train servers to be "great". It is a team effort. Any server passing a table may pick up a piece a paper from a table, top off a glass or grab an empty dish. The higher level of service is so very evident. And of course the food must be good to match that service; and it was. My wife's cheeseburger was the best she said she has ever had. My chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and glazed carrots were just like a plate from Grandma. Amazing food, superior service and great company in a comfy environment makes for one great Sunday afternoon lunch. Thank you Charleston's Carmel.

My Mom and I went to Charlestons for my mom's birthday lunch. This was our first time there. Our waitress was really nice and very attentive. Quaint atmosphere and the prices were reasonable. My mom ordered the ribs and I had the salad. The ribs were really tender and good (that's what they're known for) but it definitely needed a little more seasoning. Still good. My chicken salad was delicious as well. My croissant was ok. I was expecting warms and buttery but it was a little cold and burnt. Overall the experience was good and I'm sure if we're in the area we would come back. We also had the dynamite shrimp but I forgot to take a picture. We enjoyed the salad bed underneath paired with the spicy shrimp. It reminded me of the Bang Bang shrimp at Bonefish Grill.

Exceptional service as always! Cozy ambiance with some jazzy vibes. Traditional appetizers continue to impress along with the wonderful salads and hot croissants. All items ordered were simply lovely, no complaints whatsoever. Becoming a regular favorite!

We had a FABULOUS experience. The staff were very kind and friendly and the food was absolutely amazing. We were also very happy with the portion sizes! The mood could either be dressy or casual with low lighting. We even went later in the evening / closer to closing and the food was still wonderful!! The staff were very knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive. We will definitely be going back!!!

They booked the entire top floor for our group of 30, which sounds luxe... until three of us got exiled to what we joked as "the kiddy table". Nothing says "team unity" like banquet-style seating for most of us and a side quest for the chosen few when there was clearly room to extend the table, so the choice felt less "design" and more "but, why though?" Luckily, the food excellent. Family-style apps kept things social, and the broiled goat cheese disappeared faster than corporate budgets in Q4. The caramelized brussels sprouts with feta and pears(?) was absolutely sproutstanding and worth fighting your VP over. My salmon was cooked like it had something to prove: crisp on the outside, buttery within. The mac and cheese sauce ith what tasted like sharp, aged cheddar was doing the lord's work. The mashed potatoes was aggressively average, like a meeting that could've been an email. Eh. The bourbon bread pudding was sticky, rich, and just boozy enough to make you forgive the seating chart Service-wise, they ran a tight ship. *Chef's kiss* A small army of food expeditors kept plates landing with precision and no awkward pauses or hangry-induced hostility. Timing was flawless and the polished atmosphere, confident execution, and a few standout dishes was enough to forgive the seating chart.

We had the crab cakes and crab & artichoke dip for apps and our lunch entrees were the fried catfish sandwich with fries and the filet with mashed potatoes and collard greens. For bevvies, we tried their rosé and red zeppelin English ale. All of it, every bit and bite, was 10/10. Food breakdown: - Crab cakes: succulent lump crap meat within a lightly battered and flash fried coating. They come on a bed of arugula with a light dressing and dipping sauce for the cakes. Super yummy! - Crab & artichoke dip: ooey gooey deliciousness, perfect balance of cheese sauce too. You don't have to search for the crab or artichokes. And the fried naan chips were sliced long and thin, and could've been called naan fries actually. Perfect companion for the dip. - Fried catfish sammich: the piece of fish was huge and the batter was good. It came on Texas toast with fixins and tartar sauce. Won't lie, the only thing I wanted for was some hot sauce. That's a me problem... just gotta have hot sauce when I eat fried fish but I didn't ask for any while I was there (they may offer it) and still very much enjoyed the sandwich. - Filet: it was great... hubby got it medium and it arrived perfectly cooked. The Demi glaze sauce was so good and so were the sides. Their collard greens are seasoned up! I said does my auntie work here?! This cuisine is so comfortingly southern and didn't disappoint. Shoutout to our friendly and helpful server, Dan... our food and drinks came out quickly and so did our to-go box. His service was truly top notch. The collard greens were tender and had a tasty smoke flavor. A couple folks had short rib entrees and one had one of the shrimp and grits options. The servings were very hearty especially for the prices. All in our party agreed they would definitely return and happily order the same dish although there are many items on the menu we all want to try. He's a semifinalist for the Best Chef: Great Lakes (IL, IN, MI, OH) category. What an honor! I'm curious to see if he gets the medal, but even if not, hopefully this recognition will draw people to visit Lone Pine, because people really need to visit. I don't know how Lone Pine would describe its menu, but I would call it elevated comfort food. One of the things my table ordered was chicken piccata. When was the last time you saw chicken piccata on a menu?! It was delicious, and served with mashed potatoes and lettuce leaves that added a nice, fresh crunch to each bite. We also got the roasted salmon, which was served with fingerling potatoes in a pesto sauce, with arugula on the side. This, too, was delicious and rich, yet fresh. I ordered the short ribs, which came with polenta and caramelized pearl onions. The short ribs were just fatty enough, and the sauce that they were surrounded by was unctuous and wonderful to eat with the polenta. I guess I should have started this review by writing about our first course! We got the French onion soup, bloody Mary wedge salad and the Caesar salad. The Caesar salad at Lone Pine is probably the best Caesar salad that I've eaten in Carmel, and maybe in all of the Indianapolis area. The thing that Lone Pine does differently and spectacularly is that they use breadcrumbs and not croutons. That makes all the difference! Granted, it does look a bit like a pile of pencil shavings on a plate, but sometimes the dowdiest foods are the best-tasting foods. The result is a satisfyingly salty, crunchy, creamy, crispy salad that I couldn't stop eating. I know I will be back to Lone Pine for the Caesar salad. We ended our meal by sharing two desserts: the apple pie panna cotta and the Lone Pine chocolate cake. Both desserts were amazing, but the cake won us all over because it looked deceptively heavy, but it was light and airy, and came with slightly sweet whipped cream. The service at Lone Pine is exceptional. They pay attention to detail here, and all of the little things are taken care of. Our server gave us just enough time between courses. Our water was refilled unobtrusively. We didn't get asked whether we've dined there before (because who cares?) and the menu wasn't over-explained (thank goodness, because I can indeed read). One thing we also noticed that we appreciated: The music was just loud enough to hear it, but not loud enough to notice it too much! It's these little things that come together to make a great dining experience.

My first experience at the restaurant was decent, so I figured we would give it another shot. I recall my first meal being a bone-in pork chop that was overly salted. I'll make my review brief. The restaurant was not too busy but our service was fairly slow, two separate drink orders that were requested never made it to the table, the environment was noisy/music too loud, etc. I decided to go with something very basic for my food order. My thought was, "I'll see how good they are at doing something simple." I got the black and burger cooked to the chef's preferred temperature (medium). My burger came out dry/crumbly/crispy/well done. Yikes. The server did offer to provide a complimentary drink while he asked the chef to prepare another burger (a nice gesture). However, the second burger came out raw (see photo). I'm a medium rare steak guy but this was inedible. The fries were very good. I'm not typically someone who is overly critical of restaurants but for the amount of money you're paying for these meals, the food and service should be excellent. My two experiences were fair and poor. This is very unfortunate because I've visited the sister restaurants (Beholder and Milktooth) many times and have had nothing but great experiences at both. Probably the last time I'll go.

I took my…read moredaughter here to celebrate her birthday, and we shared the Combo Appetizer with potato skins, rattlesnake bites, and boneless hot buffalo wings. We enjoyed those with the Cajun dipping sauce, sour cream and ranch dressing. We pretty much demolished that entire platter. For my entree, I ordered the Fried Catfish Meal, which came with two sides. I got the steak fries and a house salad. I love their house salad (with bacon added). It comes with crisp green leaf lettuce, cheddar cheese, tomato, eggs and croutons. My daughter ordered shrimp skewers, served over a bed of rice, with corn and a loaded sweet potato. Everything was really delicious and came out fast. Our server was kind and personable and took great care of us. I think her name was Melissa...it definitely started with an M. The atmosphere was pretty loud and rowdy, but in a fun way. The booth next to us was celebrating a birthday and they brought out a saddle for the birthday boy to sit on while they loudly announced to the restaurant that it was his birthday. My daughter opted NOT to have this celebration done for hers. We had a good time and left with full bellies and to-go boxes!

Super friendly staff. We chatted with the hostess for a bit about the other Family of Grindstone restaurants. We started with the short rib poutine. We had it last year and frequently joke we need more than 1. The meat is so tender and there is a good amount of it on the dish. The app has plenty to share for the three of us adults. I also love the added touch of the scallions. For our meals, I had the Jambalaya pasta which was a large serving with plenty of meat, my husband had the tenderloin sandwich (which was massive and the best he said he has ever had on all of his trips to Indy) and our friend had the piggy melt grilled cheese (Mac and cheese and pulled pork!) That sandwich had incredible flavor and I said I'm getting that next time. We ended the meal with bread pudding bites as the photos on here looked delicious and the waitress recommended them. They certainly did not disappoint. The restaurant has a bit of a nicer vibe and there are certainly some people that were there dressed better than us, but it is not a stuffy atmosphere. Delicious food for very reasonable prices. Good beer selection as well.

Beautiful space. Warm feel. Exactly what the evening called for. Our server Jill M was the real story. She greeted us warmly, asked if we had questions about the menu, and when we mentioned my wife has Celiac Disease, she didn't flinch. She walked us through every option carefully and honestly. That kind of attentiveness is rare, and it mattered. Here's the honest part: the kitchen uses a shared fryer, which limits options significantly for anyone with gluten sensitivity or food allergies. My wife made it work, but the choices were thin. For a restaurant at this level, I'd love to see that change. Food allergies aren't going away, and guests who want to celebrate special occasions deserve more than a gluten-free bun as their only path forward. The food was genuinely delicious. Drinks never ran dry. Jill was never far. We all left saying it was a great meal. Four stars, and I mean it. Jill earns five on her own. I'd go back without hesitation. I'd just hope the kitchen catches up to what the front of house already delivers.

I ordered a Steakhouse wedge salad and the chicken tortilla soup. I was so shocked how big the portions were. I was expecting smaller, lunch portions. The food presentation was a 10/10. The wedge salad was gorgeous. It had two large onion rings and bacon on top. One of the best wedge salads I have ever had. The chicken tortilla soup was served in a large bowl. It was also a very beautiful presentation. Overall super impressed with the taste and overall presentation of the food.

There's a section on their lunch menu called The Perfect Pairings for $14.95. Basically it's a "you pick two" offering. I ordered the BLT salad and the crispy chicken sandwich. Both were wonderful. So much food that I have leftovers. My friend ordered the fish tacos with tater tots. He said they were great as well. Also, plenty of food. The atmosphere was great. Not loud ... easy to carry on a conversation. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Everything we saw come out of the kitchen looked great. I don't know why we haven't come here more often. That is certainly going to change!

Out of 6 two tried a "house specialty" both were dissatisfied. Two had a bottle of wine and two had normal drinks. Appetizer of meat balls was good. 3 meatballs and sauce with bread. We wish we had ordered meatballs with a side of spaghetti. It would have been better than our dinners. The dishes are unique. They look flat but have a center that makes it look like a lot of food. It isn't. I ordered the clam over pasta. There were 6 cherry stone clams and they were delicious. When I got to the pasta, the bottom of the bowl was filled with olive oil. I could not eat the pasta; the oil was so thick that it actually dripped when I rolled the pasta. My husband ordered some kind of grated cheese and olive oil. It was good at first but as it cooled the cheese had melted and the oil had fallen to the bottom of the bowl. It was nasty. Not mac and cheese, not parm on top of olive oil tossed pasta, I don't know what it was. I thought it should be sent back but he didn't want to do so. Now dessert, here's a whole new story. Spumoni ice cream, rolled in chocolate and frozen. A small container of espresso is poured over it. I ordered a second shot of espresso ($3.75) to finish it off. Next time, this will be my entree. Two drinks, two glasses wine, one appetizer, crappy pasta and wonderful dessert. $200.00 bill with tip. Parking lot is very small, plan ahead. Will we go back again? Maybe for the dessert. I was very disappointed and really had hoped for an outstanding dinner. You may be wiser, but we have had much better. (Not dessert!)
