    Spicy Ginger and Garlic Pork
    Jason C.

Tiny hole in the wall joint that you'll miss if you drive by too fast. Has seating for about 10 people and sign that says $3.99 lunch specials. Parking in front of the store can get messy when busy, but plenty of parking around the corner of the building. I ordered Spicy Ginger and Garlic Chicken over the phone and they asked me how long before I stop by, I said 10 minutes. I got there 15 minutes after I placed the order and the food wasn't ready, they just started making the food. After waiting another 10 minutes, got my food, paid and came home. On their menu, there is a red * next to the dish indicating it's a hot & spicy dish, however the dish has no spice at all... if it was supposed to be spicy, then they forgot to add the spice level when they made my dish. As for the dish itself, it had bit of sour taste to it. I expected the liquid to be thicker, but it was thin... I guess I expected the dish to be more like the dishes offered from King Shing or Panda House. Also, the chicken breast meat used here was bit tougher than those from King Shing or Panda house, it had to be the method they used to cook the chicken before making the dish. On a next visit, I'll have to try their $3.99 lunch special and see how it is... as for now, not bad, different then what I expected but it was nice to try new place. If you like spicy food, ask for hot chili oil - at least here, they did not charge you for it

These are some amazing lunch specials

Love this place - affectionately a "hole in the wall" - Amazing prices - ($3.99 lunch specials) - great general tso's - good selection. Very fast and friendly service - a family run operation. For best value and service, visit in person.

Dumpling! All dough and under cooked as this was to be fried!

This was the worst I've ever had! Dumplings were huge under cooked dough balls- chicken was slimy and undercooked- meal come in a container which if I didn't know better I'd believe it was a frozen meal 1/2 watered down. Egg rolls were undercooked and had a layer or two of uncooked egg roll wrap. Worst experiences ever- I called she said sorry we are super busy but we can refund you $5- I couldn't even I hung up- $70 in the trash and now to figure out plan b!

sweet and sour chicken was like trying to eat a leather belt, chicken and pea pods with fatty chicken and mush pods. I would not recommend this place. A plus, they deliver fast :/

The host was responsive. The food came out of the kitchen incredibly fast. It had that hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant feel. But that's about it. That's the 2 stars. The hot and sour soup got the taste balance and broth right but the ingredients were a disappointment, too much tofu, too much egg, not enough wood ear and/or black mushrooms, scandalously few shredded bamboo shoots (which also clearly came from a can). The wok hei for the mu shu pork was not good; too greasy and again, the ingredients were really inadequate (way too many onions, zero cabbage, scant protein). The hoisin sauce clearly came out of a bottle (way too sweet and flat) and here's the death blow - thick flour tortillas, not those thin Mandarin pancakes. I mean, the thinness of the pancake is the whole point - it is NOT a "Chinese burrito" (a phrase that is an insult to burritos, mind you). The last dish was ma po tofu. For me, a good ma po tofu is all about flavor balance - do you understand between straight up heat from the chili and the numbing of Sichuan peppercorns? They do not understand, this was so overwhelmingly peppercorn that it seemed pretty apparent that someone just equated "hot" with peppercorn and then added chili oil. Again, scant protein. I usually give a place a couple tries because anyone can have an off day. I won't be back. This is a kitchen quality problem, not an off day.

A once wonderful Asian eatery has become questionable. By implementing a form of "tipflation" the…read morerestaurant has raised prices by 18%. What's worse is it's a hidden gratuity that you may never notice. Pro Tip: Unbelievable someone has to be told this; check every item on your bill. Always look for posted signs as you initial enter; especially near the cash register. Also read the menu thoroughly. Normally, I wouldn't complain too loudly about an automatic 18% gratuity. What if today's service was lousy? It's no longer a tip, but a service charge. The biggest problem is not informing customers in advance. Maybe illegal? Well, IYKYK. I hate their dining room and probably always will. It's just like a boring, drab, dull office building cafeteria with no colour and nothing on the walls. Just an opinion. Always wanted to vent that. When it comes to customer service they are smiling, friendly and accommodating. Things have become a tad slow since pandemic. Maybe it's yet one more staffing shortage? The food here is very good. I encourage you to try the duck. Friends swear by the Wuxi Ribs. They did just raise the price to $22; but remember to add the 18% so that entree is now $26. I wonder if being a family O/O business, all tips stay in the building. Isn't that just a hidden price increase? 11/24

Their online menu does not have the pictures that the in store one has and woowee it is a lot of choices of noodles! Amongst the 4 of us, we ordered the pork tip noodle, the Peking pork (zhajiangmian), hot oil wide noodle, beef tendon knife noodle. YUM! The noodles are handmade, handpulled and you can customize the shape and thickness you want! The portions as you can see are massive and the prices are very reasonable! $14/$15 a bowl! My pork rib tips were too tough but still seasoned. I would say their Peking style zhajiangmian is pleasantly less authentic and I liked this version better than the original! It included a braised full egg, and not too much of the cloyingly sweet and intense sauce. We ordered and within 2 minutes we were served fresh bowls of piping hot noods. Our server was efficient, warm, knowledgeable and bilingual. She said I looked like a popular Hong Kong singer, like OMG what a cute compliment! There was convenient parking and it was really close to my friend's house. Highly recommend!

Gai's Kitchen is located inside of Bethlehem Church and when they say kitchen, they really mean it, there's no dine in or host stand to place an order haha. Despite this though, my friend and I were allowed to eat here in the church cafeteria adjacent to the kitchen after stumbling our way into the church and placing our order online, but just so everyone is aware this is for pickup, take out or DoorDash really. Now on to the food! My favorite thing we ordered was the Leshan Beef soup, so comforting, warming, and flavorful! Xiao, the owner, was kind enough to teach us how to best enjoy it which was to first take a sip of the broth, have some of the veggies, then dip the beef into the chili powder. The billionaires fried rice was unfortunately a bit under seasoned but at least the portion size was quite generous. The mapo tofu was very authentic and the numbing spice they used was top notch, although Xiao did mention that they would hopefully be moving towards using a more tender cut of tofu than the medium/hard tofu they're currently using which I think would be delightful. The snowflakes dumplings were good although I question how well the crispness of the dumpling lace will hold up during carry out considering we got to have these fresh. All in all very promising and authentic, I'm excited to see what else might make it onto the menu and how things might still improve from here, they're working out some kinks with the soft opening and they've only been open for 2 weeks!
