We got takeout from king shing and it was very mediocre. The lo mein lacked flavor and many of the sweet and sour chicken pieces were very tough. I thought the crag rangoons were delicious, but the sauce that came with them was far too sickly sweet. My husband got the beef fried rice and said it was decent. read more

Not a big fan. General tso had big chunks of deep fried chicken that were tough and stringy. The sauce was gloppy. The fried rice was on the dryish side. I also thought my wonton soup seriously lacked salt. Good broccoli, all three tiny pieces. When doing a takeout lunch it would help if you could actually cut through the meat with the plastic ware provided. Even better if it was appropriately sized by the kitchen staff. Portions were decent except for the broccoli. I liked the spice level of the sauce at least. I was just super disappointed overall. This place came recommended. Yikes. Plenty of parking and very limited seating (about 3 tables) because most people order out. It was also warm inside. The employees are all friendly. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai after someone recommended it and it was awful. It was a pinkish color and flavor was just ok. Did not taste authentic. Like there general tso, teriyaki chicken on the stock is really good and to me (while I'm not a big Chinese food fan), they do have some of the best Mongolian beef I have ever had. I must love this place because they know me by name now when I call in my carry out order I used to be loyal to another spot about a mile away, but after a string of disappointing dining experiences there, I decided to revisit King Shing. I'm glad I did, because now I have a staple Chinese restaurant close to home! My latest discovery that I love here is their pad Thai. I feel like King Shing is the epitome of American Chinese food. Large portions of well flavored and saucy dishes like Beef & Broccoli and Orange Chicken, which comes with white rice or fried rice. Lo Mein Noodles, crispy Crab Rangoons or fried Spring Rolls round out our typical order. It's all well prepared and very tasty. This is mainly a take out restaurant. The entire time were there the phone and the line never stopped. We chose to dine in at one of four tables. The guy working the counter was really friendly and seemed to know just about everyone who came in. I can appreciate that kind of service The food was good. The hot and sour soup was a perfect choice for the winter weather. It had a nice little kick of spice The small was a decent size. The crab Rangoon was probably my favorite part of the meal. The filling was delicious. It was nicely seasoned. The pastry was not too oily. My spicy shrimp dish ordered extra spicy wasn't all that spicy. It did have a zesty tang but not as much as I expected. There was an average amount of shrimp and some well cooked vegetables. Everything was served in single use containers. That is a huge disappointment for me when dining in. I've tried a good amount of dishes on their menu but my partner and I usually share the Beef Broccoli and General Tso Chicken dish; it's our favorite. Despite the affordable price, they don't skimp out on the amount they give you. Mainly a carry out restaurant but there's a few seats for you to dine in if you choose. Tables are always clean and they do offer paper plates for you. They're always friendly and kind. Whenever I'm here they're always busy. So, I finally caved and tried King Shing because various fellow CA to MI transplants have enthusiastically recommended it. I'm not too proud to admit that I'm a fan of Americanized Chinese food even though I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley -- which is home to 500M+ Asian Americans (more than LA, SF, AND CHI) & about 2/3rds of whom are immigrants. So, I grew up eating some top notch authentic foods on this side of the globe. But, I've always had a soft spot for places like Panda Express. King Shing was incredibly satisfying. The lunch specials (offered Mon - Fri 11am -3 pm) are a fantastic value with very generous portions. I ordered: *L39. Beef w. Broccoli ($6.75): This was my partner's order. I tried a bite and it was seasoned nicely. The broccoli was really fresh and the beef was very tender. *L15. Chicken Lo Mein ($6.25): This was my guilty pleasure order. I love these fresh, round egg noods and I have no complaints on King Shing's execution! *L10. General Tso's Chicken ($6.25): This was my first time trying General Tso's chicken. I figured if I was eating american chinese food, I'd go ALL OUT. To be fair, I've had 糖醋鱼 (Sweet & Sour Fish) but not chicken prepared like this. It's like a delicious hybrid of orange chicken (crispy exterior and all that jazz) but the sweet tangy flavors of sweet & sour pork. I'm a fan! They were so generous with the pieces as well. If I could give zero stars I would. The reputation of this establishment has DRASTICALLY declined over the years. I called in my order at 11:48 AM. I asked if the food would be fresh, and they assured me everything is cooked to order. I arrived three minutes later, and my order was already bagged. I took the food to my car and tried to eat it, but the chicken was inedible. Tough, chewy, couldn't even bite pieces off of it. I took the food back inside and told them that I couldn't eat it. The manager told me that no one else complains and they have a good reputation. They didn't refund or replace my order. I recently discovered King Shing within in the last six months. Every meal I have had has been delicious. My most recent purchase was vegetable egg foo yong, I have not had this entree in over 10 years. Thought I'd try it there and I was pleasantly surprised. It was not greasy and was loaded with vegetables and of course egg as well. I will be re-ordering it again. I ordered the Szechuan chicken yesterday and it was also very good. I like the spiciness of it plus I asked for mild spice and it was prepared perfectly. I would highly recommend King Shing if you are looking for takeout Chinese food. This is a great Chinese takeout place near Ann Arbor! I've searched for a place near Ann Arbor that serves cheap and good Chinese food, and I finally found one. This place is kind of like a glorified Panda Express. I got to try the beef lo mein lunch special which comes with soup and a fortune cookie. For about $7, you get so much food; it is so worth it. The flavor is there, and the noodles are perfectly tender and tossed evenly in soy sauce. There's also a good amount of beef mixed in with the noodles, which is a plus. Seating is not super welcoming for large parties, so I would recommend taking out. No need to worry though since they make takeout so quick and easy. I can't recommend this place enough! read more

One of the few Chinese restaurants in town where spicy actually means spicy (upon request) and the flavors are authentic instead of midwesternized blandness. Unfortunately, I write this review with distaste. For appetizers, I ordered wonton soup and crab rangoon--I received neither. I ordered twice cooked pork (very spicy) with fried rice. I received what I think they call twice cooked pork (very bland) with no rice of any kind. I also ordered the happy family with white rice, I received chicken and broccoli with white rice. Luckily DoorDash refunded me for the missing items, but this was just a terrible experience overall. I will not be ordering from King Shing again. read more
