We got Friday night takeout from Tuptim and it was delicious! I ordered the See Ew, my husband got the massaman curry (kinda like a coconut chicken curry) and we got the spring rolls to split. The sauce that came with the rolls was a heavy ginger flavor but not too sweet and paired nicely with the rolls, which were crispy and flavorful inside. My See Ew included chicken and was very tasty, with several different vegetables included. I ordered it mild, but my mouth was on fire haha. I guess that's what you can expect from Thai seasoning. This is a quaint little spot amidst various great ethnic restaurants. It's not fancy, but the food is good! They serve organic chicken which was incredible only wish the veggies were fresh and not frozen. We had: Som Tam , chicken Penang and red curry with chicken. The dishes were phenomenal! It was honestly the best Thai food with Halal chicken that I've had since I left NYC. My family and I came here on Monday and ordered medium plus spice. Here's my thoughts on what we ordered (all dishes I'd order again): - Drunken noodles - the noodles were cooked to perfection and perfectly spiced. I had heard that Tuptim was the best Thai food in Ann Arbor and upon looking at the menu I was super skeptical... I mean hot and sour soup? Sesame chicken? You cannot convince me that this is an authentic Thai restaurant. With that said, I suspended disbelief to order the khao soi which is my favourite Thai dish. I ordered it with beef and selected extra hot as my preference. Being a northern Thai dish, Khao soi is generally spicy as is so I was a bit worried that I was in over my head. The dish? Not Khao soi, and certainly not even remotely close to not let alone extra hot let alone Thai hot. For context, my parents wouldn't touch tabasco with a 10 foot pole and were able to eat it fine. This family operation thrills me in compelling ways. I'm a lunch special regular and special occasions feast fanatic for Tuptim Thai. The flavors are rich and authentic. The ingredients are fresh and vital. Table service tends to be quick, hospitable and accurate. Ok, here's the real deal. My palate for Thai flavors and spice was shaped early by one of the earliest Thai restaurants in Ann Arbor. Tuptim is one of two places I know that can replicate the visceral taste-memory of those early days. Just wonderful flavors. This place is on my way home from work, so I pick up take out regularly. I decided to try the mee sua recently and asked for no bean sprouts and extra carrots. The meal I took home was half bean sprouts & was cold by the time I gave up removing them. "extra" carrots was a grand total of 6 slices of carrot. read more

Every time I go to San Francisco I make sure I have a meal at Burma Superstar for my favorite dish, Khao Soi, a coconut curry based soup with noodles and chicken (that I've since learned is a favorite in northern Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar). I've struggled to find it locally but after some searching found it on the menu at Tuptim Thai under the spelling "Kow Soy." I new I had to have it! Now, it's a bit different, of course, from the one I had in SF but it definitely fulfills my cravings here in MI. The noodles were perfectly prepared, the coconut curry was flavorful, and there was a decent amount of chicken in the mix. I also added potatoes to mine (not how I had it in SF but I figured I'd try it, it was a good addition). I wish it had the crunchy fried noodles that I've had with the dish in other places but I'll definitely be ordering this again. I also got the delicious mango coconut rice and a thai iced tea and they'll both be staples of my order moving forward, too! read more

Best Thai place in the area, hands down. Whenever my friends and I are craving Thai food, Tuptim is our go-to. Heck, whenever we are trying to decide on a place to eat, Tuptim is usually one of the suggested restaurants. My go-to is the yellow curry with chicken. It's a bit expensive ($15), but the portions are big enough for me to separate it into a couple meals - three if I'm eating a bunch of rice to save money, lol. They give you a good amount of protein and potatoes. Honestly, the curry is so flavorful - lots of spices and the subtle coconut milk flavor just enhances everything. My absolute go to orders are the green curry, pad thai and basil fried rice. I can't tell you how many times I've ordered just those three and enjoyed the heck out of this combo!! Other honorable mentions are the basil chicken, papaya salad, and the crab rangoons. Two dishes I wish were better are the pad see ewe and the drunken noodles but you typically can't have it all when it comes to your favorite dishes at every restaurant, some will do them better than others. Located on Washtenaw Ave just before Golfside as you approach Ypsilanti, it's currently open for carry out only. That was perfect, as it made ordering my lunch and picking it up a snap. I perused the menu and decided on Beef Pad Thai. When I called in my order, the employee asked me about spice level. YpsiReal had warned that the spices here are no joke, so I opted for "mild plus". 10 minutes later I was picking up my meal from their convenient outdoor station. I paid contactless via Clover and headed home to enjoy my lunch. The verdict? It's a winner! And it's spicy. I like a little heat, but take my word for it, this place is no joke, so order accordingly. This is the ONLY authentic and the BEST Thai restaurant in A2. People who only go to the local fast chain Thai restaurant are missing out. I'm used to having a lot of different authentic options in one town, and Tuptim has everything. Everyone of their dishes I have tried has been amazing: basil fried rice, pad thai, fried tilapia with eggplant, drunken noodles, and yellow curry. My husband is a fan of their spring rolls. I don't do spicy as much anymore, so I typically order mild because now I'm an old person, and my tummy gets upset. If you are complaining about spice, that's on you though because it's easy just to tell them you want no spicy or mild spicy level. This is the only thai place that hand crafts Thai tea. And they are sweet and delicious! I recommend adding lime. So good! I think I can order anything on their menu and never be disappointed. We have eaten here so often, but we have always gotten takeout. They do have long wait times, so be prepared and order about 40 minutes before you want your food to be ready. They package their to go containers really nicely and even cut holes in the containers with fried food so that it is still crunchy when you get home and not soft from the steam/condensation. The food is always the same it doesn't change day to day. It sometimes is a little pricey but it is worth every penny thats for sure.
