So glad downtown AA now has an authentic thai restaurant. I always judge a Thai place by two dishes pas Thai and papaya salad if those two are good usually the rest of the menu is good as well. The papaya salad is very good nice lime/garlic flavor. The combos are lunch only and everything in the combo is really good. The salad dressing was surprisingly good love the vinaigrette coconut combination. I would buy the dressing by the bottle if they sold it. We came back a second time, I tried the khao soi which a northern Thai dish they did an excellent job literally could drink the creamy curry sauce. The crispy egg noodle texture works perfectly with creamy coconut broth. My wife the duck noodle soup, which had a similar flavor the pho, but more lime and garlic this was excellent as well. In the old Kouzina space and owned by the same owners as Tuptim Thai. This review is for their lunch and the awesome value of their $15 bento boxes. It's basically a combo of curry, rice or noodle and an appetizer! I went for the #7 which was Veggie Red Curry, Drunken Noodle and spring roll. There was plenty of food for me to take home and have the next day. It would have been nice for this to come with rice though, but at $15, it's still a great value! I also the tom yum soup as well as chicken satay, both were solid! It was pretty popping on a weekday lunch, but service was quick and food came out quickly. read more

I haven't found a decent Thai joint in the town, thus was excited to try Eat Thai. The place wasn't busy, if you park in the lot behind the restaurant, there's an entrance in the back. We sat up by the bar, and after looking at the menu, went with the following items: - Tum Yum Soup(to go) - Hot & Sour Soup - Papaya Salad - Pad Thai with mixed seafood - Chinese Broccoli Crispy Pork Chinese Broccoli Crispy Pork was our favorite, perfectly seasoned and the sauce was awesome. I would definitely recommend this. The pad thai was good, huge portion, but we got mixed seafood, didn't find any seafood in our plate, a lot of veggies though... because of this, 3 stars instead of 4. I liked their papaya salad, it was a lot better than other places that I've tried in town. The hot & sour soup was decent and as for the tum yum, wouldn't order this again. Definitely will be back to try other dishes, but for now, three stars on my first visit. read more

I was impressed with my first experience with Eat Thai! Got a delivery order to my office, for a group of 10 people. Order arrived on time, was nice and hot, and everyone got their items and customizations. Not a single thing missed! Furthermore, I really appreciated that they wrote everyone's NAMES on each order item (we did a group order in DoorDash so items were under people's names in the order). This was very much appreciated and made distributing much easier. Finally they put pieces of cardboard between orders so that the boxes didn't sag into each other. I got the chicken wonton soup with noodles, egg, and veggies. Generous portion and very tasty! I opted for something that seemed a little lighter than the stir fried noodle and rice dishes, and this hit the spot without putting me into a food coma in the afternoon. The seasoning is a little different than I've had at other spots, it's not very spicy but overall good. There's seating inside though it gets busy. Didn't even realize this was open when I was searching for take out options for dinner but was instantly excited about a new Thai restaurant, especially since downtown Ann Arbor has been desperately lacking a good Thai food option. Online order quoted 50 minutes for pick up which makes sense since they're still in soft opening and looks like pretty busy/backed up. Just deciding what to order was difficult since everything on their menu sounded good. We finally settled on the Roti, Hot Basil Crispy Pork, Pad See-ew with chicken, Curry Fried Rice with pork and Panang Curry with chicken. We ordered everything but the Panang Curry at spice level "hot". I'm honestly blown away at how delicious everything was. The crispy pork was divine! It lost a tiny bit of texture on the drive home but was otherwise perfect! Can't wait to try it at the restaurant! Chinese broccoli is always a good sign in pad see ew and its flavor was exceptional. This was probably the spiciest of the dishes. Loved the smoky/slightly char flavor on the noodles! The panang curry was so rich and comforting! Was very impressed with its depth of flavor. I was so excited to see a new Thai place in town that had my beloved Khao Soi on the menu! Alas, it wasn't quite the hit I was hoping for. But I'm hoping it's growing pains as they just opened and they can tweak it to get it to the bullseye. So yeah, I ordered the Khao Soi and it wasn't the best. The broth was GREAT. Really good. But the chicken was a bit dry and the crispy fried noodles were stale, making them tough and chewy instead of light and crispy. They were 50/50 to the noodles (also good) so every bite I took pretty much had a stale fried noodle in it, making the whole thing pretty disappointing. I also ordered the pineapple fried rice to have on hand for lunch the next day and that was really good. So I know the potential is there. It's just fine tuning the ingredients/components that can really make this place a knock out. I'm pulling for you, Eat Thai! read more

Our table waited about 20 minutes to get out order put in, and another 50 minutes to get our food. While the tables around us received and finished their plates before we even got our food. This is probably the worst experience I have had at a restaurant waiting this long for food. Never have I written a bad review on a restaurant, so the service had to be absolutely terrible for me to draft this. I love Thai food, and this is the best I've had in the area. We ordered for carry out, but there was some confusion with the order (even though we placed it online) and my boyfriend had to wait around an extra 25 minutes for it to be ready. It seemed like the other comments about service were true, and I want to give them grace and support them as they're getting their sea legs, since the food is incredibly well made and delicious. I got the green curry and it was so, so good! The eggplant was my favorite part--so flavorful, and I couldn't stop eating it! The curry sauce was not just something from a paste; it tasted like it'd been stewing for a long time, and with the right kind of salty coconut cream that I often hope for when I'm eating a curry. My boyfriend got the Pad See Ew and said it was under seasoned, but good. I hope they can figure out the issues with workflow to improve their service, because I really want them to succeed with the quality of their food. This restaurant is a godsend, a diamond in the rough. My only regret is it's not convenient for us to pick up food from here so we have been ordering delivery (weekly since we discovered it). The food is consistently delicious and flavorful, the flavors are on point! I cannot fathom anyone giving it fewer than 5 stars for the flavor and quality. Tried Eat Thai for the first time tonight and plan to go back. Friendly service and the place was packed by 5:30. Both those eating in plus a hopping to-go food scene are a good sign for when this place is fully up and running. Be patient with your orders as they were slammed. The food was worth the wait, especially since Ann Arbor has been in need of a good Thai restaurant. Does this food compare to my favorite Thai restaurants in Chicago? No, not quite. But this place is promising. Would love to see them offer Tod Mun, fried catfish salad, chive dumplings, and fried dried beef in the future. Those are my typical go-tos and hard to find/usually non-existent in Michigan. But what we did order was very good--pad see ewe had a nice smoky flavor and had gai lan which was great, the crispy pork had excellent heat and texture, the dressing for the papaya salad was delightful but I would have preferred more papaya as opposed to lettuce. The Thai iced tea had a bit too much cream ( I prefer more tea flavor). Comfortable chairs and hopefully they add more decorative touches on the walls to warm it up a bit. Looking forward to trying other dishes in the future--crab fried rice and the crispy tofu appetizer will probably be next. read more

I had the papaya salad with spice level of Thai hot --- was excellent, I unfortunately can rarely get food spiced that high in America. I was just in Bangkok two weeks ago and this food was comparable (though there they add salty fermented fish or shrimp, which I didn't taste here)... The green papaya salad (som tum) is made with unripe papayas and is a food from the Northeast of Thailand, and is not universally found in American Thai restaurants. After all this, the order was incorrect (despite two clarifications with our waitress) and one of our party did not end up eating. Really disappointed by my first experience here and probably will not be back. We ordered takeout, showed up when it said it would be ready and were told 15-20 more minutes. We came back 15 minutes later and were told 15 more minutes. 40 minutes after our power was supposed to be ready and with no apology or any acknowledgement of the situation, we got our food. All of the special instructions on the order were ignored and the food got mixed reviews. Spicy basil had Italian basil and hardly any of it so the pad kee mao just tasted sweet and salty. Let's just start with the food. The food was not as advertised. We were expecting bigger noodles, no carrots, and noodles that weren't clumped together. Next the service, the service said that the food would take a hour or 60 minutes to complete. Our food took 70 minutes. It said wide flat rice noodles and they were not wide or flat.
