    Beef Pho
    Linda I.

Approachable Vietnamese semi-fusion-y spot with a varied menu that feels like there's something for everyone! I noticed a good selection of vegan options as well. Better pricing and vibes than the previous Taste Kitchen for more people, I think. They have a pho special where if you order a pho, you can get a second pho to go for 40% off. Kind of a no brainer. - Beef pho was good! Nice broth. The meat and noodles were not the best I've had in Ann Arbor though. - Shaking beef was delicious. Highly recommend. Doesn't look like there's a ton of beef, but it felt like we kept finding pieces and it was good for sharing. - Vegan Laksa was very tasty! Came out not super warm though, would've liked this to be hot - Mushroom dumplings are DELICIOUS. Highly recommend this one as well. - Meatball bahn mi was fun! I've never had a bahn mi quite like this before, but I did enjoy. The bread was good. - Tofu summer rolls (not pictured) were light with a very nice sauce as well! Highly recommend going in a group so you can try a little of a lot of things! I will definitely be back.

I tried the vegan laksa, shaking beef, and pho. Very average food that is pretty expensive. I did not dislike any of the dishes, but would not choose to come back. They had a selection of mocktails, I tried the non alcoholic negroni and I did not enjoy it at all - would not recommend.

Tuesday special 1/2 pho and 1/2 banh mi
    Dia D.

They now have a Tuesday Special of half of a bowl of pho and half of a banh mi. I liked the idea and it was tasty, but I wish that the pho had had some noodles and bean sprouts to make the combo lunch more filling.

Definitely my go-to entree. Thai-Style Calamari (5/5): One of THE main reasons I love Pacific Rim so much. This is the best calamari appetizer I've had. Lightly breaded and fresh. The sweet chili sauce is perfect. Thai Peanut Noodles (4/5): The noodles had great texture and the Thai peanut sauce was delicious. The tofu wasn't really crispy and I personally would've loved the option to add some meat. Lamb Dumpling (4/5): Lots of meat in the filling and didn't taste gamy at all. Limited time special. Shrimp Shumai (4/5): Really enjoyed the wonton wrapper. Shrimp flavor came through nicely. Limited time special. House Salad (4/5): Light and fresh. The soy based dressing was sweet, slightly acidic, and not at all overpowering. Warm Chocolate Cake (4/5): Delicious cake with a warm, gooey inside. I personally don't like coconut or chocolate and fruit desserts, but I still enjoyed this a lot. Creme Brulee Tasting (4/5) : Green tea, pumpkin spice, and ginger creme brulees. Loved getting to try a little bit of each flavor (green tea was my favorite). Spiced Caramel Pear (3/5): Not my favorite since I don't generally like cooked fruit. Even the crab rangoon and kickboxing chicken tailored for American palate are carefully prepared with their own style and addictive. I've come here many times with friends and colleagues with different levels of adventurousness and spice tolerances and they've all raved about this place (if you like spicy, this is paradise for you, otherwise get the mild with some extra heat on the side). The prices are extremely reasonable and the portions generous. The service is warm and attentive not surprising for a family-run restaurant with high standards.

The ambiance of the restaurant is honestly top tier with the real flowers and candles on each table, aesthetic consistency, along with their round turning table perfect for large parties. These are the things I've tried from there: Orange chicken: 7/10 (and only because it's not my favorite dish anywhere, I just tried a bite of someone else's but it's good and has fresh mandarin in it; it quickly became my dad's favorite dish there) Pork Larb: again and again 10/10 I could eat this everyday Sesame chicken: 8/10 (not the best of the best I've tried but still very good) Kick boxing chicken: 10/10 Sticky rice: 10/10 perfect with my Larb Thai tea: 10/10. the best Thai tea I've had in Michigan. I recommend the soups - I love the beef and radish soup and the miso soup. The bao buns are large and filling. I like that there is an option for contactless order and that there are utensils and napkins for patrons along with free chili oil to pack up in small containers for takeout. Many restaurants today are charging for chili oil and even utensils, which I find to be absurd. There is lemon water for patrons to serve themselves as well. Thankfully my husband found a spot right on the street! I chose KBBQ for my birthday dinner and my husband found this place. They have a good variety of side dishes (pumpkin, mashed potato, spicy fish cakes, etc)! The food was good and we liked the meat! The brisket wasn't too thin and the steak was delish!! This place is aligned fairly well though with food in Korea though ie not highly westernized. This place is in the center of the college area on Liberty and State street. The selection is not extensive but the basics are here including BBQ. Side dishes are decent, Kimchi, which is fundamental to any Korean meal and varies by region, is always included and people have strong opinions about. Theirs is OK but not top notch. Other side dishes are decent. Whatever we ordered, BBQ, Yuk Gae Jang, Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap (Rice. Vegetables and beef inn stone pot), other was pretty good.....just like Seoul Garden used to be before ownership change. We used to go almost exclusively to Seoul Garden near the mall off Boardwalk but after ownership change stopped as the taste changed significantly and not for the better. Its nice to have The Seoul is an option. They have beer and soju (Ubiquitous Korean liquor in Korea that along with Kimchi is many Koreans blood) Environment of the restaurant is modern but still a bit cozy. Overall, definitely worth a try. While we are at it, I have spent allot of time in Japan on business (some vacationing too) and I know it's trendy to go there now especially with the exchange rate, and by all means go, allot to see and experience (and eat!) there. But don't overlook Korea. The two countries have a torrid history and don't want to admit they are similar in many ways....but they are and Korea is loaded with great places to go and food to eat. Traveling can be done on any budget, feel free to reach out if you want to learn more. Also love to hear from experienced travelers, love to learn of new places and things to do.

The quality of the food is still amazing and worth a visit, but there were some items I wish stayed on the menu. For example, the spicy salmon crispy rice is no longer available and only available in the tuna form. The portions are also smaller, now coming in three small bites rather than the two big bites from before. The gochujang rigatoni and kimchi paella are also unavailable. Some new dishes I tried and loved were the short rib and the grilled octopus. The octopus was incredibly tender and I couldn't stop eating it! It also comes with delicious potatoes. The short rib was a larger portion and also tasted delicious. The rest of my table ordered the miso cod. The miso cod was delicious, but the portion was quite small and arguably not worth its price compared to the short rib. Cocktails that I recommend are The Gatsby and The Promised Neverland if you like sweeter drinks! For the service, we felt a bit rushed as we were dining. Normally the drinks come out followed by the appetizers, but our appetizers came first and the drinks came with our mains. I think there was a missed opportunity to sip on our drinks and chat with our party as we enjoyed the restaurant's ambience. Otherwise, the food came quickly and was well served.

It was restaurant weekend in downtown Ann Arbor and we didn't have a reservation, so we obliged, although the space was pretty empty. Once we got to the bar, the young waitress slammed menus down in front of us and acted extremely annoyed by our presence. After bothering us every minute for the next 5 minutes to order, me and my friend put in our orders in haste. We then waited for 30 minutes for our meals to arrive. I got the "Amazing Shrimp" sushi roll and my friend got the "Grilled Angus Short Rib". As noted on the menu it comes with Mashed Potatoes, Shishito Peppers, and Garlic Chives. Per my friend's request, the order did not come with the Shishito Peppers or Garlic Chives, but it also didn't have the potatoes. After asking for the potatoes, our server went back and we could hear her yelling at the kitchen staff. Minutes later she came out with a bowl of 3 potatoes, not mashed and not hot. My roll was great and I'd definitely order again if I come back, but I'm honestly not too inclined to after this experience. Lastly, the restaurant itself was freezing. It was a cold day but it was way colder inside than it should've been. We ended up keeping our coats on for most of dinner. I really do want to like it here because the vibe seemed very modern and clean, however the service, food, and level of professionalism fell short of my expectations.

The ambiance is kind of a sterile, trendy vibe, but not in a good way? They have the Love Island neon signs in the bathroom (and the awful Dyson air blade hand dryer sinks that just blow gross public sink water into your face unexpectedly) and it feels like it's toeing the line between wanting to be upscale and also accommodate the college crowd. I don't know. I could forgive all the weird vibes if the food were better. I will say their tacos are quite large; so don't expect a typical street taco. I had a hard time eating three and I'm a pretty hungry person. So I'd order two, especially if you have any kind of app or side. I would not order the mahi mahi one again. There was SO MUCH (bland) fish in there it fell apart. The pastor was pretty typical, and the camarones (shrimp) one wasn't bad, but it was kind of like a shrimp salad concoction vs a fried shrimp or ceviche kind of application. And they were like teeny mini shrimp. It was well-flavored, though. My Paloma mocktail was solid! Expensive, though, for something without booze in it. Our server was very sweet but perhaps overly attentive, stopped by (not kidding) like 12 times to refill our waters after we'd taken barely a sip. We were well hydrated but chuckling at the constant disruption.

We ordered the nachos, the griego, chipotle, camaron, and tofu tacos and the tres leche dessert. The griego sauce was great the chicken was a bit dry. The chipotle was ok. The camaron didn't have any flavor and I even squeezed lime on it and it didn't help. The tofu was great there was so much flavor in the sauce and topping. The nachos were so good, the salsa verse was spicy and had so much flavor the chips were crispy and because they were a little in the thick side that they didn't get soggy at all. I would get those nachos every time they were amazing! The tees leche was good too the cinnamon and the cake was great it was soft like a pudding. If I ever come back here again. I will be getting the nachos and tres leche dessert and the tofu tacos.
