I've been eating at Dalat for many years. I've always had an awesome meal here. Today was, as always, a perfect and delicious meal. We ordered an order of Fresh Shrimp Rolls (#1 on the menu), the #10: Gól cuón: Chicken with rice noodle soup, and #17: Bánh Canh hải sản: a soup of thick Udon noodles w/sliced pork, shrimp tails, calamari(squid) slices, and chicken. It comes with a side dish of scallions, onion greens, and bean sprouts. The portions are large and almost every time we've eaten here we've taken home that we couldn't finish at the restaurant. The service is fast and friendly each and every time. I'm looking forward to our next meal at Dalat!! read more

I am writing in response to your combative reply to my recent review of DaLat to clarify the points you raised. 1. The Tip: Tipping reflects the service and overall experience. I left a 10% tip ($3.81 on a $34.19 bill) to recognize that the server was not at fault for your poor attitude. 2. The Coffee: I paid the exact amount listed on the bill you provided, which is shown in the photo attached to my review. It is unfair to blame customers for your billing mistakes. I did not refuse to pay, nor did I "dine and dash." Had you noticed the error and informed me at the time, I would have gladly paid for it. Resorting to personal insults by calling me "poor" or "underclass" does not excuse your mistake. 3. Finishing the Food: I finished my meal despite not enjoying it because I was taught never to waste food or money. 4. The Review: My negative review was not primarily about the food, but rather about your rude attitude toward customers who share their experiences, as evidenced by your many abrasive responses on Yelp and Google. read more

Service is great! The server was really friendly. Food is expensive and good but not always worth the price. I got the basil rice with shredded chicken and it comes in a stone pot. The rice was crispy and everything was very tasty but there was a lot of oil. This dish was $17! My husband got the Bun Bo Hue. It was very spicy but good noodles and meat! read more

Today I stopped here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I had intended on getting some pho but their lunch specials caught my eye. I had the grilled chicken lunch special with fried rice (Special J) and it was really flavorful. Hard to find a good lunch specials under $11 these days and Dalat delivered. Waitress was really friendly and there were plenty of seating inside. I plan on coming back and trying the pho next time. read more

Rounded up from a 3.5! I was craving pho, so we decided to try out Dalat. We had the: *Dalat Chicken Wings (Vietnamese-style lemongrass & honey chicken wings. Served with sweet chili sauce) - Surprisingly good! not something I'd typically order but my husband wanted this. Good pick though. Given how nicely they fried their chicken wings, I bet their egg rolls are bomb! *Banh Xeo - don't really recommend this here. It's an awesome portion BUT the pancake part was way too thick! I'm used to delicate, thin and lacy. Flavors were good though! *Phở đặc biệt (Beef House Noodles Soup - Special traditional Vietnamese beef-base rice noodles soup with medium well-done sliced beef, beef brisket or shank, cut beef meatball, beef tendons and beef tripe, topped with onions & cilantro.) - I wanted this to be a bit more flavorful BUT all in all pretty good and a good sized portion. I had enough for lunch the next day! My gripe with K&D - even though it's good - is that the portions are too small so Dalat hits the mark there! *Phở xào (Stir-fried rice noodles with chicken, cabbage, bean sprouts, mushrooms and onions.) - This one was also my husband's order so I didn't try it but he ate it all so sign of a good dish? yup. The service was quick and friendly. Satisfies the pho craving! read more

I felt a little sore throaty so I figured the best remedy would be pho though I knew to lower my expectations since I wasn't back home. Not too far from my office, plentiful seating, great menu offerings not limited to just pho, and reasonable prices. I ordered the pho Dac Viet. It's not as rich and fragrant, skimpy on the meat. Their tripe was tender but the tendon was a bit chewy. Not a bad meal but if you live in an area w/ a boisterous Vietnamese cuisine flare then you will be disappointed here. I finished my meal, paid, and used the restroom. The gentleman that rung me is Vietnamese. I am not sure of the Vietnamese population here but considering it does snow and can get below 20s.. who wouldn't want pho to warm their soul? read more

Dalat - 12. Pho Dac Biet (Special Beef Noodles Soup). - Vietnamese Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

Went for lunch, service was great, place was clean, plenty of seating options, and large parking lot. We only ordered 2 Pho bowls. They tasted good but were a little pricey for the bowl size and the amount of noodles and beef. I have Pho about 1-2 times a month and this was the most expensive for the least amount. The caveat, Pho didn't seem to be their specialty (only a few options) and was a very small part of their large menu of other options. Their sauce condiments might need a container update. They looked a little sketchy, see pic. It didn't stop me from using the chili paste (lol, tasted great). read more

I love all of the Asian food options around Ann Arbor. My daughter was getting her hair done, so this was a good opportunity to explore the local food. Dalat had some good reviews and Pho is one of our favorite foods. The shop is in a strip mall outside of downtown. It is a pretty cute little space with a clean aesthetic. Service was pretty prompt, but not the fastest ever. An older woman took our order and a younger woman finished the service. We ordered some Vietnamese egg rolls ( deep fried). With chicken, veggies, and mushrooms. I got the number 11, which was pho with the thin sliced beef. My daughter got the pho with meatballs in it. To start, our egg rolls were crispy and hot served with the usual sweet and vinegary sauce. The pho was super flavorful and the beef was pretty tender. My daughter loved the flavor too, but not the meatballs. I did like the meatballs, however. Overall, the food was good. I thought it was a little pricey, but that is Ann Arbor. Service was good, not the most enthusiastic young waitstaff. I would try again if I was in the area. read more

Great option for Vietnamese! Especially if you want to try something new (ie they have a lot of Vietnamese specialty dishes aside from just pho and banh mi, though I do enjoy their pho!). My favorite dish is their Bun Bo Hue, a hot (temperature wise and spice wise) rice noodle soup with sliced beef and pork, and a lemongrass/shrimp paste/onion broth. Today the lemongrass wasn't coming through though, so I wonder if they've changed the broth. It's a really nice dish when it's cold or dreary out especially, and it'll warm you right up! We also got the papaya salad and "Dalat ravioli" (banh cuon) as sides/starters. Both were good but not amazing. I wanted to try their banh cuon because I just had this dish for the first time last year in Vietnam! Not really fair to compare to the food in Vietnam... so I won't :). Normally for apps we get the fresh rolls or egg rolls or chicken wings, and I like all of those more. Their hours on Yelp/Google Maps are currently different than what they have posted on their door (open until 8pm instead of 7:30pm). Perhaps to avoid people coming last minute? But for someone like me, I almost thought going around 6/6:15pm would be cutting it close (thinking they closed at 7:30pm) and might've picked somewhere else if we got closer to 6:30pm. Non-alcoholic drinks only, but they have some fun options. I typically stick to water only because I tend to try to avoid caffeine after the morning. Service is fast and a good amount of attentive. Interior is relatively no frills, and you could be in and out of here quickly if you wanted to be. For a more leisurely meal even, you'd be hard pressed to stay much longer than an hour. read more

I've been coming here since I was a child (they had a location in Ypsilanti before Ann Arbor) and Dalat is a local staple! Food was fantastic as was service. Pretty plain inside but the food is so good it doesn't matter.

Hospitality: 3.8/5 Quality: 4.2/5 Value: 4.1/5 In terms of menu options and variety, Dalat does a decent job. Their pho broth is well balanced with sweetness, savory, and peppery. Their broken rice dish was blander than usual. Waitresses were attentive and quick. Highly advise you to bring cash since they do charge extra for credit and debit cards. read more

Probably the best pho in the Ann Arbor area! Definitely do dine in because the carry out doesn't do this place justice. My only quip is that the soup is a lot greasier compared to other restaurants, but hey that's what gives it the amazing flavor, right? The broth is super flavorful and doesn't just taste like straight MSG. I can really taste the meat and ox bone in the broth. Super yummy! However, I wish they gave a bit more meat. I got the special pho and only found one small piece of tendon in there. The squid appetizer is not bad! They also don't give a lot of squid - more vegetables than squid, but it's good vegetables! Squid was slightly under-seasoned but it was still delicious. Would recommend to treat yourself! Overall, I would recommend this place for pho! They do charge an extra 4% for credit card payments. read more

Best pho in Ann Arbor. We're from Houston with a big Vietnamese population, and pho restaurants on every corner. We've kissed quite a few frogs and finally found Dalat. It's our go to place. We're also plant based as of the last few years so that adds complexity. Dalat is expensive compared to what I'm used to in Houston, but for good pho, it's worth it. EDIT: lol okay, definitely NOT returning. I'll keep my review as a 2 star even though they deserve a 1 with their response that can't take any criticism; as expected when I read through other reviews. I mention pricing for others to know that in different cities you can expect some restaurants to be more expensive than others. Ann Arbor is one of them, so don't be surprised with the pricing. I am a big supporter of small businesses and I am always more lenient on small businesses vs chains... which is why I went easy on the previous review and was more careful with my words and included that I would be open to coming back to try other dishes. But an owner with a bad attitude that belittle others and with poor customer service skills? No thanks. Also... you don't need to put down other businesses just because I didn't like your guys' pho. Theirs aren't full of msg/other add ons. Yours was simple NOT GOOD. --- I'm convinced that there's just no good pho restaurants in Ann Arbor. I must say, this place is better than the other Viet restaurants that I've gone to in A2 though. All you could taste was beef broth, no other spices/flavors. Overpriced for what you get, but this is A2. The review is solely for the pho, my partner and I didn't try other dishes/appetizers. A bit critical with the pho because I've been blessed with some amazing pho/Viet cuisine in Madison Heights. If I'm ever around the area again I'll probably try other dishes instead. They charged 3.99% if you pay with credit/debit card. We didn't see a sign anywhere so FYI if you are paying with a card. Pros: plenty parking spaces, inside of the restaurant was spacious and seemed clean, the female server was nice. read more

If you're craving some solid Vietnamese food with friendly service, check out Dalat. While it may be great for any meal, I visited recently for lunch and would gladly go back -- it really hit the spot! Almost immediately after arriving, my friend and I were greeted by a friendly server who showed us to a table and whipped out a couple of menus. I'm a sucker for Pho, especially when there's a chill in the air, so I knew exactly what I wanted to order. When it came time to put our orders in, that's what I went with. Hot, fragrant, and with just the right amount of spice, it was exactly what I needed that day. Not content only to go there for lunch, I visited again recently for dinner. Same fast and friendly service, but this time I got to try some new food. I went with the shrimp rolls, and recommend them as an appetizer -- light, refreshing, and with just the right flavor from the dipping sauce, you won't be disappointed in it! I also had a light chicken and vegetable soup that night that hit all the right notes. The family that owns this place is so friendly, and you really feel how welcome they make you when you visit. Make your next trip to Dakar sometime soon, and I may just see you there! read more

I was expecting a lot more out of this place but was disappointed. For one, the place was huge and lots of seating and they were understaffed. Next the restaurant didn't have any nice music. So it felt a little weird, awkwardly silent at times. Next the food itself was just about ok. I was hoping to taste something like Ginger Deli's flavorful spicy pho but it was not really that exciting. The tofu and veggies were nice but the broth itself was pretty flat and lacked the yummy cinamony flavor. It was my hope that something as good as Ginger Deli comes close home with more convenient timings but my hopes are pretty dashed for now. I guess I'll just have to learn to make veggie pho at home to help get through the cold winter days. read more

Wanted to love this restaurant and their food, but I didn't particularly find anything super special about their food or customer service. Tried several of my usual favorite Vietnamese dishes- their pho was decent (would eat it again), as was their hu tieu, but their cha gio, banh cuon, and banh canh were hugely disappointing. The texture, taste, and freshness of traditional banh cuon was lacking, and their banh canh is in fact "udon" as stated on their menu (not traditional Vietnamese banh canh noodles.) read more

Good pho, tender beef, flavourful broth, nice noodles and big portion, will definite come again. Nice service too

Since this is just a stone's throw from my place, I returned for lunch on a cold, rainy day to try a new entree. I started with my beloved Dalat egg rolls, which were so fresh and served with the perfect sweet and sour dipping sauce. I then ordered the Dau hu mi can kho. It is tofu, seitan, mushrooms, onions and pineapple sautéed in a spicy gravy and served with rice. It was wonderful, and every bit as satisfying as real meat stew. The pineapple balanced the savory components wonderfully. The cherry on top was the mango boba smoothie. As usual, the service was very friendly and efficient. My server even gave me extra sauce to take home for the roll. This place rivals some of the best Vietnamese food that I frequently ate in S Cali. read more

I've been to Dalat before at this location as well as one in Ypsi and it's always wonderful. Tonight we ordered takeout (restaurant currently closed for dine-in due to pandemic) and it was quick and safe. Few people around, everyone masked and distanced, and they even sanitized my credit card. We ordered: - #2 eggrolls (legit some of the best I've ever had) - #6 cup of eggdrop/crabmeat/chicken soup (unusual but good, I'd order it again) - #16 bun bo hue noodle soup - #18 vermicelli noodles with pork Everything was fresh and delicious, what more can I say? The portions were all very generous, especially the noodle soup. The flavors in the vermicelli dish were bright and refreshing with the crisp veggies and sweet & sour sauce. Eggrolls = incredible. This order could easily feed two people for two meals, depending on your appetite. We'll be ordering from here more since it's fresh in my mind again -- absolutely have to try more of the menu! read more

High marks for Asian food in the Midwest. A mom and pop Vietnamese restaurant located in a strip mall, simple cafe ambiance, good-sized open seating for about 50 people. Walking in there are booths along the right wall and open tables on the center and left. The main counter is in the back center. Came here for lunch around 1:30pm on a weekday in December, mostly empty except for a handful of tables of 1-2 people. Another couple people came to pick up take out while we were there. We decided to go for the lunch specials, ordering the Gà xào xâ ót (lunch special A $8.50) stirfried chicken w/lemongrass and onions in a brown sauce, and Bò kho (lunch special B $7.95) Vietnamese style beef stew with carrots, mushrooms and onions. Both came with rice. Lunch special A was a bit on the salty side, B was perfect, just like how I would imagine a home-cooked beef stew made with love. From initial visit this seems like one of the more authentic, tasty and affordable spots for Vietnamese food in Ann Arbor. Would love to come back and try their other dishes. read more

As soon as we opened the door, we could smell pho aroma. I could tell right away that this place was authentic Vietnamese restaurant. My friends got pho and banh xeo. I got bun bo hue. The broth for the pho and bun bo hue were on point. They could enhance the bun bo hue by making it more spicier. My other friend loved her banh xeo. It was a bit weird to me that they had mushroom in banh xeo. I have never seen mushroom in banh xeo until I went here. For appetizer, we all got fresh spring rolls with shrimp. I feel like every Vietnamese restaurant has their own version for the spring roll sauce. This one was lack of peanut taste to it. I think we preferred the peanut sauce than just hoisin sauce. I also got Vietnamese coffee. It was a bit water down. I think they used sugar to make the coffee as well. I generally prefer just condensed milk on my Vietnamese coffee.
