As an Asian from California, this place is a little bit of home. They have Bambu also in CA. It's great to know there's a boba cafe accessible in the Ann Arbor area. I like how they have different assortment and varieties of drinks from boba, che, milk tea, smoothies, halo halo, hot and cold drinks to choose from. I like that they offer snacks like waffles, mochi, macarons and parfaits. I like how they have the endless toppings and additions you can add to your drink. It's hard to choose what to order from the menu, makes my eyes dart around like a chameleon, trying to find what to choose. I so far tried the Fruit Addict Che and the Honeydew Smoothie with boba which I enjoyed. I also tried the Bambu Combo which was okay. I like how they diary free alternatives for vegans like me, that's a plus. Also they have a lot of selections for vegans which I can appreciate! I got to meet Emily the owner who was really nice and helpful and she does a great job running the place, I hope that this place gets the attention that it deserves because Bambu is da BOBA bomb!

My first time in a Vietnamese boba tea shop. I was overwhelmed by the choices and ordered a #13 Che (dessert drink) for no particular reason. The first problem: arrives in layers with no instruction manual. First sip: seemed like pure sugar, sickeningly sweet. Solution: stir it up, major mixing to be managed. This greatly improved the situation:critical that the crushed ice on top dilutes everything! Next time I will be sure to ask for no extra sweeteners, which is likely an option. Duh. I got overwhelmed when I walked in because of all the options. DuuuuuH again. Next time if I don't know what I am up against I really should ask questions. This popped up as the nearest ice cream place. The mochi is the ice cream choice. If I return I will sample that next time. PS get a thick straw and give your sucking muscles a workout.

Cute little spot to stop by for dessert! There's a decent amount of seating here so it's perfect for a dessert date. I always get the bambu favorite! I didn't even get to take a picture because I ate it so fast ‍ Bambu never disappoints! The Vietnamese Che's are always delicious and to top it off, this location offers bubble waffles! 10/10 would recommend

    Gift card front

Had been looking forward to trying this place out as I had been given a $5 gift card. In short, owner informed me she would not honor the card as it is over a year old and that was her policy, an old card or some such thing. I had to look up actual Michigan gift card policy myself, but it seemed odd as I hadn't been gifted it terribly long ago but a year seemed ridiculous. I included a screenshot directly from Michigan.gov (which states five years) and both sides of the card. Nowhere is there an expiration on the card, and Bambu haven't even been open five years. The drink I had already ordered and ultimately just paid for was good, but you absolutely cannot take money for gift cards and not honor them or randomly decide what terms you want to apply after the fact. A five dollar gift card isn't going to make or break me or the business, but to me it seems if you're a business owner the last thing you would want to do is alienate a new customer walking in the door. Oh well!

A really cool inviting atmosphere, if you want something a little different from most of the bubble teas in Ann Arbor this spot should satisfy your cravings. If you come here I would recommend trying one of their Vietnamese Che drinks or their halo halo, which is a popular Filipino dessert. I absolutely addicted to their halo halo, I like mine with two blueberry scoops, but can also get mango if you prefer. The coconut meat inside the drink is my favorite, but all of the jellies they put inside are great. The service was very friendly and parking is fairly convenient.

I'm never ordering off of Yelp again didn't tell me it was ready until nearly 10 minutes after and when I got it, the lady gave it to me, informed me that it had been sitting for a while. Way overpriced, especially after ordering off of yelp and the peach strawberry smoothie that I got is way too sweet and overall just not good. Super disappointing especially for $10.

I was in NYC before and their Bambu store went out of business before I can try it. I surprisingly discover now that we have one here. Tried it, and understand now why their store in NYC went out of business. The egg waffle was soggy. The drink is weird. Big no no.

Be still, my beating heart! It's been 7 long years waiting for a Bambu to open here, after being a regular at their San Mateo, CA location forever. Sweet, icy, fruity, and creamy Asian desserts like Korean bingsu, Filipino halo halo, Chinese baobing, Japanese kakigori, etc. are a rarity in Michigan, but to see Bambu doing Vietnamese chè with fresh coconut, jackfruit, longan, lychee and all in Ann Arbor is nearly miraculous - or maybe just a really good supply chain from Madison Heights (our local Little Saigon, and site of the first Bambu franchise here) to Canton to Ann Arbor. The regular chè desserts are substantial - a meal unto themselves, especially paired with a pandan or bubble egg waffle. There's also the usual assortment of teas and boba, smoothies and parfaits, and hot drinks - but why bother when there's chè? Unique to this Bambu are the macarons, cherry blossom selfie wall, and fruit milks, for those in need of caffeine-free options. If you're looking for less sugar, the basil seed, pandan and grass jelly, etc. options sans fruit are lighter (although you can make those at home from canned ingredients). Go for the tropical fruit, you won't be disappointed. This is Michigan Asian magic, y'all. Treat yourself!

I was so excited to see this location pop up after having been to the one in Madison Heights!!! They have lots of dessert drinks, macarons, ice cream mochi, and even egg waffles. This shop has tables you can sit at with your friends and cute decor everywhere. Definitely coming back here and taking friends and family with me!

I have been to Bambu in Madison Height and also in California. I was so happy to see one open in Ann Arbor!! This is a Vietnamese specialty drink / dessert store, though they also have regular bubble tea, I think people should really try out the Vietnamese dessert drinks or Vietnamese coffee. 5/5 Fruit Addict - who doesn't like a bunch of tropical fruit in a cup with coconut milk? Although, I must say this is more of a dessert than a drink. You'll use a spoon more than a straw for this one. 5/5 Bambu Favorite - absolutely love pandan jelly and red tapioca, and you can't find these toppings else where. If you are scared by the bright green color of pandan jelly, just know that it's not from food coloring but the natural color of pandan. 5/5 Taro Lover - I'm not a taro fan, but I know a lot of taro lovers. It is mashed taro mixed with coconut milk (or don't mix it if you like), which makes it less sweet. And with the best topping: pandan jelly! The drinks can be a bit pricey, but remember they do use real fruit ingredients. Can't wait to go back! Warning: I once asked for no ice in my drink, and ended up finding the drink too sweet. So take that in to consideration if you want your drink without ice.

Super fresh every time and taste really good. Everyone who works there is really nice too

    Taro 15. Bambu Halo Halo

My favorite boba place! This boba is more authentic than the Americanized cafés (though nothing wrong with those ones either, I love them both!). A bit pricey but it's Ann Arbor so it's to be expected. Worker was so nice and gave us a bag to hold our drinks in! Decor and kpop music choice was so so cutesy. Had the halo halo taro and it was delish :)))

    Taro lover. Yum!!!

I've been waiting and waiting for Bambu to open and was super excited to see the lit sign in the window. I was not disappointed. The pandan waffle was delicious and so was that taro lover drink. I didn't detract stars from the lack of brown boba, as this is their soft opening. I think the second day. If anything, knowing they make the boba in house made me feel even better. Honestly, this is the best boba/tea place I've been to since moving from SoCal. I can't wait to come back.

I could slip the money under the door?" "Don't worry about it." Kyra says. "Just knock. I'll make it right now." "Thank you so much." 5:02 pm: I zoom into the parking lot, jump out of the car, run up to the door and knock. The door swings open and there she is...my coffee angel; coffee in hand with a smile. I know she is trying to get out of there. I grab the coffee, shove some money with a good tip into her hand. "Thank you so much. I'll write about it." I yell back. It's taken me a couple of weeks but herein lies my humble expression of gratitude to Kyra, the one who had the where with all to stop and ask herself: Who's in charge here, the clock or my heart? Did I mention the really good coffee? All of this run by the renewable energy of the sun. I learned from a young person (I'm 70) in line one day that the buzz word in commerce right now, is "frictionless"; luring us to fly even faster through our precious moments without obstruction. No time to chat or stop and connect. Oh my gosh! If we don't have each other, what else is there? As Ann Arbor drifts away from the townie town it once was, RoosRoast stands defiant; determined to hold space for the slow down, the slow talk, the long pull. I always leave RR happier and more at peace than when I arrived. Thank you Kyra and RoosRoast
