Incredible spot! Delicious coffee, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, friendly staff, great setting for getting some work done or chatting with friends. The interior is so well decorated. We got an iced honeycomb latte and a hot Mofawar latte, both were so flavorful. Highly recommend!

Honeycomb bread

Socotra Coffee has a beautiful ambiance and reasonable prices, which made for a pleasant first impression. We ordered the Mofawar coffee and the honeycomb bread. The bread was excellent; warm, soft, and just sweet enough. The coffee, while flavorful, had bits of cardamom that made the texture a little grainy, which took away from the experience. I also asked if I could try a small sample of their other coffees or if they offered a tasting flight, given how bold and unique the flavors are, but they weren't willing to accommodate. Overall, it's a lovely space with some promise, but the service and coffee experience left us a bit underwhelmed. Still worth a visit if you're curious, especially for the baked goods.

Jubani coffee and pistachio croissant

Got the jubani coffee and pistachio croissant. The coffee was really flavorful, you could taste the ginger and subtle flavors of the nuts. I ended up getting a bag of it to make at home. I added sugar to mine, but I don't really think it needs it unless you like things sweet. The pistachio croissant was filled with creamy and nutty pistachio surrounded by chocolate. I went back the next day to try a different coffee, but I think the hours online are incorrect because it was closed and no one was there.

Wow this place has a very unique and DELICIOUS dessert- Pistachio condensed milk-like texture on honeycomb bread. It is drool worthy!!! Inside the bread is hidden cream cheese as well. I liked their coffee as I got their Socotra Latte and the employee added sugar for me because I like sweet coffees. I loved it! Lots of people study or work here so it's a nice environment.

Wow, this place is really fantastic because the Coffee is genuinely impressive with all of the different styles that they have to order from. The pistachio coconut cream cake is exceptionally delicious both flavors textures and presentation. The people behind the counter are warm and friendly and there's plenty of seating. The only downside is it's a little louder than I'd like it to be, but this is a great great place. If you're looking for a truly good unique cup of coffee after seeing so many bland cookie cutters/ cafe go through Ann Arbor it's refreshing to taste something new and flavorful.

Me enjoying the latte and ambiance

My friend and I came here late at night to try the lattes. He ordered the toffee nut latte, and I ordered the pistachio latte. The toffee nut latte was definitely sweeter. It had a rich, warm mix of hazelnut and caramel. The espresso was strong enough to stand out and blended perfectly with the toffee-nut flavor. The pistachio latte was more subtle. It tasted like a classic latte with a gentle, nutty hint of pistachio. Service was great. They brought out our drinks within 10 minutes and were very friendly. The ambiance was also a highlight, with groups of friends and young adults enjoying their Friday night. Great spot to gather with friends after a dinner. Overall: 9 out of 10. Would definitely come back.

I got a honeycomb latte this time! I liked it more than the Socotra latte. It was a quality latte - you know how some places don't make a good quality/tasty latte? This was not the case. Great flavor, not too sweet or artificial at all. I love the plethora of tables there are. Definitely a nice place to just sit and talk!

Socotra Coffee House in Ann Arbor is a cozy and inviting spot with plenty of seating, good lighting, and a warm Middle Eastern-inspired atmosphere. Their menu stands out with unique drinks like the Adeni chai, pistachio latte, and honeycomb latte, alongside fresh pastries and desserts such as honeycomb bread and milk cakes. Customers often praise the friendly and helpful staff, as well as the café's clean and comfortable setup with free Wi-Fi and outlets, making it a great place for studying or working. The extended hours, especially on weekends, add to its appeal for late coffee runs. Prices are little higher than other shops and most agree the quality and presentation of both drinks and pastries make it worth it.While the café can get busy during peak hours, it's often described as a hidden gem in Ann Arbor, offering a refreshing alternative to more typical coffee shops.

Socotra is one of my favorite coffee shops in Ann Arbor. It is currently my favorite spot for Yemeni coffee. My favorite thing to order here is the socotra latte, which is a latte flavored with cardamom and cinnamon. There are also several types of desserts you can order here, such as pistachio cheesecake, rose flavored desserts, and even their house made Dubai chocolate bars. I appreciate that this spot is open later than most coffee shops in town. It's great for hanging out with friends or getting work/reading done. Service can take a while when it's crowded. The ambiance is casual, well-lit, and clean. Will definitely be ba

Cake

Last week, we celebrated three of our friends' surprise birthdays at Socotra Coffee House. We love Socotra and have been their customers since they opened a few years ago. I spoke to Nour over the phone and asked if they could join a few of their mango tiramisu cakes together to resemble a birthday cake. She wasn't sure if that could be done, but she and the fabulous baker at Socotra assured that they would try their best. When we got there, we were so surprised to see what the baker came up with for us. They went above and beyond to present us with more than we could have expected from a cafe. The "cake" was ready when the birthday girls arrived, and they played the birthday song to add to the joy of a dozen very noisy ladies. We enjoyed our night away with Adeni tea and many more of their delicious cakes and pastries. We showed our gratitude to team Socotra with a big thank you and a hefty tip; you deserved it. (Maybe Socotra can offer a custom cake with pre-order.)

I decided to check out this location for the first time. It is a nicest local spot that I had been to in a while. It was quiet, comfortable and cozy. There is a good menu of various coffees. teas and unique pastries. The host and staff were friendly. I look forward to returning.

I might actually buy coffee and tea as holiday gifts for my coworkers. The reason for the 4 star instead of 5 is because the women's bathroom was not clean, customer service can be improved, and some music can really make the cafe more inviting. I made coupe of orders, one included dessert. I was handed the cake with no fork, had to ask for one. Wasn't given napkins and didn't bother asking. I might sound petty, but honestly the product can be great. However, customer service is what brings customers back. There needs to be proper training. If I'm going to spend money and do everything myself and ask for everything that should be the basic/ standard, then I might as well make my coffee at home. It terms of music, I think it would amplify the space. When I stopped by the cafe, I was the only one in the main space and it was dead silent and all I can hear is the buzzing of the cooler that had the water and pop/ drinks. Some light music in the background would've blocked that noise. I only share this because I would love to see this business thrive.

They do not bake onsite but receive frozen shipments from the main bakery in Grand Rapids as handiest the Holland, Michigan store. They defrost enough each for each day so they never run out of flavors. They were some of best I have ever had. Nothing like what you might find in the bakery section of a grocer.
