Single scoop split with matcha pistachio and sea salt butter cake
    Nisha N.

A solid ice cream shop! The matcha pistachio ice cream was excellent, would come back for that flavor alone. I wish the sea salt butter cake had more chunks of butter cake in it. The overall service was a little slow, granted that it was a summer evening and they might have been short staffed.

We've visited many ice cream shops in Ann Arbor, but Milk & Froth wasn't check off the list yet. After dinner in downtown AA, we easily walked over to Milk & Froth for dessert. The space is narrow but with good vibes and really leaning into their themed colors and balancing a classic ice cream parlor with a modern spot. Prices are on par with other small batch ice cream shops we've been, $5 for a single scoop, plus an extra $1 for splitting scoops (would be nice to be included for free, but hey, a $1 isn't bad to get to try 2 different flavors). Even though it was a warm summer night, there wasn't too long of a line and service was pretty quick. It's nice to have the entire shop indoors (vs another shop in Ann Arbor) so you can cool off while waiting. Since it is small batch, the menu is small with rotating flavors. During our visit, there was great variety of unique flavors. Of course, I needed to do a split scoop to double my flavor profile. I opted for black sesame and sea salt butter cake. My sister got the same flavors as me, but my husband went for the 3 peanut and pecan butter brittle flavors. We enjoyed our scoop in their beautiful outdoor patio (ambience was 10/10 with the bistro lighting and cute benches / tables). We all loved our flavors and spoke very highly of the quality of the scoops. The black sesame slightly outweighed the butter cake for me, although I did love the "goodies" in the butter cake scoop. They were both so excellent, though. I think Milk & Froth might be my favorite ice cream spot in the city now - I'm already looking forward to revisiting and trying more flavors!

Yum yum!! Such unique and delicious flavors! It was a cold day but we still craved ice cream :0) We got the large cup that comes with 2 scoops and can be different flavors (cherry chocolate and honeycomb) for $8. They both were delicious!! The cashier was friendly and helped answer which flavors were most popular. We ate there as they have some benches and fun signs as decor. We want to go back and try their peppermint and coffee flavors!

Love this spot! My friend and I stopped in post-dinner in search of a sweet treat. We both tried their orange crème flavor and ended up loving it. We got single scoops, a bit pricey but typically for A2. This spot has a lot of unique flavors and I've heard great things about their vegan options, the design of this store is so cute. There's seating outside. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the service was quick. Would highly recommend!

This was a great treat during a hot afternoon! We went there with someone who goes to school there and they were raving about the ice cream here, specially the black sesame and it did not dissapoint. It was a thpical ice cream store when you walj in you smell the waffle cone been cooked and it transports you to ice cream nirvana. The interior is done very well with a chic pink vibe and set the ambiance well. The service was quick and efficient and we were in and out quicjly. Parking can be tricky depending on the time of day so make sure you favtor that during yiur visitz

So delicious and love all the unique flavors! It's clear they change it up for the season which I love. They had corn, black sesame and roasted strawberry on their menu. Also matcha and pistachio which was delicious! I ended up getting the roasted strawberries which was such a great flavor: even better was that they offer Graza olive oil drizzles on all their cups so I opted for that. Friendly service and modern interior with a great patio in the back left great impressions and I'll definitely be back!

Sea salt butter cake & black sesame

Stopped into Milk & Froth on New Year's Eve because they were open and we were craving something sweet after dinner (and because yelper Kevin Z. said it was good!!) Their menu is small but mighty. We had the: *Black Sesame (nutty refreshing toasted black sesame) & Sea Salt Butter Cake (lightly salted ice cream with swirls of butterscotch and pieces of gooey butter cake) on a waffle cone - I liked the black sesame so much that I bought a pint to go! The sea salt butter cake was SOO lovely; the touch of salt made this ice cream outstanding. *Coffee & Cream (medium-roast coffee steeped in coconut cream) - If you didn't tell me this was a vegan flavor, I wouldn't have known! The texture was as luscious and creamy as normal dairy ice cream. It's not common for a place to have as many vegan flavors as they have "regular" dairy flavors so I was fairy impressed!

    Honeycomb, single scoop

Every time I visit Ann Arbor, I always look up new restaurants, cafes and dessert shops to check out. I'm glad I stumbled across Milk & Froth. My friends and I stopped by this past Tuesday evening. The interior is pretty small with minimal seating (a couple benches, several stools, and an interesting choice of concave wall seating -- not sure how to describe it but you'll know what I mean if you're there). Lots of red. Pretty clean and new looking, overall. Fortunately, not a lot of people when we went, so we were able to find seating for all six of us. A single scoop is 5.00, but the scoop is quite large. I also tried a couple flavors before picking the one I wanted and also had the opportunity to try flavors that my friends got. I think their menu changes pretty regularly. They only offer 10-12 flavors, but they're pretty unique and I definitely had a hard time choosing. Overall, the ice cream was super creamy and very good -- also, not too sweet :) * HONEYCOMB - I ended up choosing this one because I wanted the crunchy honeycomb bits, but there wasn't too much of that here. Also at the end, it was a bit too sweet for me. * MATCHA PISTACHIO - Lots of matcha flavor, but couldn't really tell the pistachio. My friend enjoyed this a lot, though. * BLACK SESAME - Best black sesame ice cream I've had, probably. The black sesame flavor was super strong and didn't feel diluted like other versions of it that I've had * ROASTED STRAWBERRY (V) - I wouldn't be able to tell this was vegan if they didn't tell me. This was quite good and had a strong strawberry flavor. I'd recommend for sure. * SALTED BUTTER CAKE - I love a lil bit of sea salt in my ice cream. The butter cake was a bit too much for me, but overall, solid flavor for the sweet tooth individuals out there. Definitely check Milk & Froth out!

After just one visit and two scoops of ice cream I'm gonna call it... Milk & Froth is the best ice cream in Ann Arbor. But wait, there's more. It's also better than that beloved place in Ypsi which recently closed its doors. Yes, and also better than the gelato made by A2s famous Z. These are bold statements, I know. And I'm sure the townies don't want to hear that the newcomer from the big city might displace the beloved local institution around the corner. There is room for both places, even in the downtown corridor, and I welcome the new arrival for a variety of reasons. 1) It's open all. year. round. That's right. Ice cream every month, for twelve months. Just like God intended. Eating ice cream in February is a joy, because you can walk down the street with your cone in your gloved hand eating it at a leisurely pace since it is in no risk of melting whatsoever. Just ask any Bostonian. That's another four season ice cream town. Are the folks in Beantown tougher than those of us who live around the Motor City? Probably. But we can learn a thing or two from them and squeeze some more joy out of winter. 2) Texture. There is a quality about truly great ice cream that I have been missing since moving to Michigan. And that is the dense, sticky, and almost elastic pull of a well churned custard. The scoops at Milk & Froth had the texture down in spades. I could tell from my first bite that I had found the ice cream for which I had been longing. 3) Flavor and inclusions. Every shop has winners and losers. Personal preferences are fascinating things, but also part of the diversity of life that keeps things interesting. If everyone loved the same flavored ice cream, think how boring the world would be. That said, intensity and depth of flavor, in addition to thoughtful, well distributed inclusions are far less subjective. Gazing into the bin of Honeycomb was mesmerizing, with all of those glorious chunks of honeycomb brittle, and I'm going to have to go back for a scoop very very soon. The maiden voyage was reserved for two flavors. One scoop of their perennially popular "Sea Salt Butter Cake" which honestly didn't sound like a winner to me. But the interplay of salted ice cream, butter scotch, and bits of soft butter cake were both delicious and unique. More than anything, I think this worked best when paired with another sweeter flavor to serve as foil to the salt. The other scoop hit on some personal favorite flavor combinations. "Malt Cherry Chocolate" was malt ice cream with tons of delicate chocolate shavings, mixed with roasted Michigan cherries. Dang that was delicious. But I am also a malt freak. On its own, and being super critical, it was just a hair on the sweet side. But with the salted ice cream, the two were just perfect. For anyone who might be skeptical about my state of mind while enjoying these scoops, given the glowing nature of this review, I would like to provide the following context. I had no preconceived notions of this shop. I had never heard of them before, and was not anticipating their grand opening. Heck, I wasn't even hungry. I had just finished a massive brunch, but felt like I needed to try a couple of scoops "for science". Knowing nothing about Milk & Froth I was also deeply suspicious about a place that billed itself as "craft ice cream". My mother-in-law asked me what that meant. I told her that it meant it was expensive. Maybe that last part is still true. I don't know. A bowl with two scoops set me back $8. But you know what? Given how good this was, I'm already looking forward to my next visit. That Honeycomb is on my short list, and maybe the chocolate hazelnut too? The staff was super friendly and the space is visually striking. My kid thought the music being piped in didn't quite match the vibe. I didn't notice. I was entirely transfixed on the ice cream, as you could probably tell.

New craft ice cream spot that just opened on Main St a couple weeks ago! And it's SO GOOD. I walked in on the earlier side of the evening (~5:30pm) and was the only one there. I imagine it's going to get busier soon. The ice cream is delicious. They offer samples, but I was feeling decisive and just got a single "split scoop" with Roasted Strawberry and Black Sesame. The strawberry is delicious, but the black sesame was an absolute standout to me. Next time I'd like to try their Honeycomb. Or maybe I just get Black Sesame again :). Crafted in small batches at Eastern Market! Very cool look! The trendy interior glows in pink and red, which you can see even from the outside. There's not a lot of seating (yet?). Vegan options as well. UPDATE - went back 3 days later lol... the Honeycomb is UNREAL. It is dethroning black sesame for me for now :). Also was pleasantly surprised to learn that the roasted strawberry is one of the vegan flavors!

I'm in heaven with this split scoop!

I finally made it here! Boy, am I glad I did. This is hands- down the best ice cream I've ever had. They provide you with samples, and after, I opted for a split scoop of black sesame and matcha pistachio. Truthfully, I'll bet every flavor is fab! I also loved the bright red, modern decor. I'll surely return and indulge in every flavor...

Took my daughter here for a day date. Super yummy flavors to choose from. Small shop with a bit of seating on Main Street outside. Friendly crew working there. I'd certainly go back!

This might just be the best ice cream in AA! The texture of this ice cream is unreal. I've never had ice cream that was this creamy. The flavors are unique and complex. I appreciated that they offered samples. The black sesame had such a great depth of flavor. The honeycomb had delicious bits of honeycomb that added perfectly to the texture. The sea salt butter cake was delcious and very sweet. My favorite is the chocolate hazelnut. They have vegan options too. They have cute seating inside.
