Kids size scoops. (Popular toasted coconut in the back)

...so I'm going to be that snobby west coast tourist who whines about ice cream not being artisan enough. Kilwin's is more of a dessert shop staple, with a wide variety of standard flavors, an enticing display of freshly made caramel apples, and the slightly nostalgic vibe of a classic ice cream parlor. Tips: *Prices are reasonable *They do have a kids size small scoop available, though it's not listed on the menu (and it's not just for kids) *It's okay to ask for multiple samples *Can't go wrong with toasted coconut *The shop is heated up to comfortably toasty temperatures so that you can enjoy ice cream during the AA winter While Kilwin's ice cream is more sweet and less flavorful as I'd like, it's a cozy shop in Downtown with all the dessert essentials.

I most recently tried the fudge and it was really delicious. It was also shockingly expensive--about $5 for a chunk the size of your average brownie, but it was so good, I guess I would call it a worthwhile indulgence. They make their own chocolates and candies, fudge, dipped fruit and other things that probably aren't good for you. They have ice cream, but I haven't tried it.

Awesome cake batter ice cream in d house made waffle cone

Nice place for ice creams n they make their waffle cones in house!!!! The ic creams selections were not very unique or different. The usual ones. I tried the cake batter and it was yum!! They evn make their own caramel candies. I think i like Stucchis better. They have better flavors and different too. But Kilwins isnt that bad. Njoy!!!!

If you like spicy & chocolate, you must try this!

Liked the selection of off the beaten path stuff that I don't find everywhere--especially the dark chocolate with habanero. Also, they have dark chocolate covered orange wedge and a raspberry jelly wrapped in dark chocolate--a number of fun items. Beats the hell out of South Bend Chocolate Co, that's for sure!

    Wow it's packed in here!

That's all I needed was to find more amazing ice cream in Michigan that I can't take home with me. I'm also never in Ann Arbor so that doesn't help I tried fresh basil ice cream. It was drizzled with lemon olive oil. The most amazing and unique flavors. They have butterfly moon, not blue moon. While blue moon tastes like fruity pebbles, butterfly moon tastes exactly like froot loops and is even the color the milk turns when you have a bowl. Service was friendly and didn't mind us trying lots of samples. How can you not when they're all so amazing and unique !!

I also got the double dark chocolate, which was decent but a little more lackluster than I expected. They have a huge variety of flavors though and it definitely feels like the kind of place you need to come back to multiple times to really explore the menu. Every time I walk by there's basically a line around the block, so clearly people love it. Thankfully when I actually went, the service moved pretty quickly. Definitely somewhere I'd come back to try more flavors.

There's about 8 desserts and a "dessert of the day" to make it extra difficult for you to pick. So we went for two desserts and a port flight: *Toffee Blondie Sundae (Warm Coconut-Pecan-Butterscotch Blondie Topped With Vanilla Ice Cream | Oat Streusel | White Chocolate | and Rum Toffee Sauce Poured Tableside) - mmm rummy rum. I feel like if you like Rum Raisin ice cream, you'd like the flavors of this! It was pretty decadent but not in a chocolate-y way. I couldn't stop eating it! *Brown Butter Lemon Bar - this was the dessert of the day. Loved that it was topped with ample fresh berries and wasn't too sweet. The toasted merginue-y whip was a really nice touch too! They also had a tasty looking boozy coffee beverage, which looked bomb but we were too full!

Server knew nothing about drinks (asked how to spell Laphroaig, which seems like day one material for a cigar bar; didn't know what Tokaji or Sauternes were) that were on the menu, several of which they didn't actually have in stock. Bananas foster bread pudding was delicious, however. I'd try to the Chop House, but probably wouldn't go back here.

This shop is located across the street from UM campus in one of the busier and more appealing commercial areas in Ann Arbor. On this stop, I'll note that the service was up to B&J's standard and the prices were what I would expect. My wife and I generally split a two-scoop cup when we visit an ice cream establishment in order to moderate calories and conserve cost, but mostly to allow for us to sample more than one flavor at a time. It also allows us to experiment a little with mixing complementary flavors. On this trip, we mixed an old favorite with a different option (for us). Chunky Monkey is a longstanding favorite for us but Tonight Dough was a new revelation. It's been around since 2015 but we have never tried it. Created in collaboration with Jimmy Fallon, it is a mix of chocolate and caramel with chocolate cookie swirls, chocolate chip cookie dough and peanut butter cookie dough. It pairs well with the wonderful banana flavor in Chunky Monkey. It was indeed a treat. I'll look forward to trying this combination again. I'll also look forward to my next trip to the UM area to make another stop at this particular shop.
