    The day's menu

We attended their full English tea. And it was excellent. We had several options for tea, both hot and iced. The tea tray was nicely presented as well. The table setting was very nice also. With only a few servers helping all the tables, it was challenging to get one's attention. Also only a single bathroom placed at the rear of the building so one has to go through the kitchen to get there. Lastly, the location for tea service is several doors down the block from the actual tea shop.

Can't say enough great things about the Teahaus. Loose tea heaven. Macarons, too! Now, me, being a coffee guy, is a total rook in this shoppe. Yet I'm welcomed like one of the regulars. They even take the time to explain all about these wonderful teas. One of the advantages of meeting in large groups is sampling. Seven different teas and seven desserts. Sullivan's Irish Breakfast tea was a hit as was the Nepal Shangri-la. Some terrific desserts and finger munchies, too. They also stock accessories and sell teas for home brewing. Although, I prefer to relax on site, with family and friends. 10/24

Wonderful tea shop, and I've been excited to watch their expansion over the years! Always the best place to go for quality and well-sourced loose leaf teas (the owner is so knowledgeable and travelled), teapots/tea accessories/mugs, and gifts for tea lovers. They also have fun pastries, including huge macarons, to munch on with a fresh pot of tea. They are also great community members, hosting and/or a part of many events! Today my husband and I went for their Full English tea, first time back after many years. It's now offered one weekend per month (check their website for exact dates), with a phone call and deposit securing your reservation. The tea is hosted in their next door space - Eat More Tea. I absolutely love having this tea option in Ann Arbor! Compared to teas in other large cities, this is a fun and very affordable way to enjoy this nice experience. $50 per person gets you unlimited tea (can try as many different ones as you'd like as well), plus a tower of savory and sweet goodies - a variety of little finger sandwiches, the classic scones with clotted cream lemon curd and jam, and a few small sweets. Some of their bites feature tea as well, such as the lavender shortbread with earl grey tea, and a brie open faced sandwich bite with pears I assume are steeped in a rooibos tea. Delicious! Everything is tasty and it's a good amount of food for lunch (if you ask me, my husband said he could eat more haha). Fun way to spend ~an hour and a half!

Kevin really buttered our buns today. Every one of the staff was lovely and had great conversation. Kevin generously wafted a variety of teas for us to smell and choose from. We ended up choosing Turkish Apple and Passionfruit. We finished off with a Horchata and a Margarita macaroon. I love Teahaus and have returned year after year. A great place for tea, cocktails, or treats. A raise for everyone!

    Bitter Lemon Tonic and Soda

Owner very pleasant, wide variety of teas and choices. Went back for a second try, ambiance cute. This time we tried the Bitter Lemon Tonic and Soda and Peachy keen, both drinks were unique and aesthetic. Out of four employees, one was extremely pleasant. The bussing concept was a little confusing and when we asked an employee that was bussing a nearby table, the employee told us, "it's around the corner"....very very unhelpful. Though let me help you out with this, it's towards the bar, before you get to the restroom, there is a black bin against the wall, and if I was there I could at the very least point you in the right direction. Worth a try as there is a vast variety of items to try.

So awesome. If you are a tea connoisseur this place will not disappoint. No real written menú but rather decide based on all the containers of tea lining the back wall. There are crazy amount of choices. I went with the wild cherry but next time will go for the strawberry mango. Husband had pear flavor which he loved too. Friendly service and fantastic product. Some limited seating available in this adorable shop on the campus of U Michigan. Definite local gem.

My husband and I travel to Ann Arbor frequently. However, on this particular visit we drove past TeaHaus and decided to stop. I am so glad we did!!! This place is amazing. I am all about ambiance , good service and decor and this had it all. First of all when we walked in the place was buzzing with business which was nice to see and we took a seat at their really cute bar ( not knowing you have to order at the counter around the corner ). They have this huge wall filled with tea canisters that you can select from hot or cold and you pick it up at the bar. I was super impressed with and loved my tea selection which was a cinnamon vanilla rooibos blend caffeine free...delicious! And the price reasonable about $4 (can't remember the oz). After I get my tea we sat at the bar and just chilled and the coolest part is that owner was there at the bar and started talking to us telling us about the shop, renovations, hours and some events they have. She was super nice very helpful letting us know the process of ordering. Great service!! They do have some food items but I was there for the tea which did not disappoint. I highly recommend this place and will definitely make this a stop each time I'm in Ann Arbor....it's lovely! Thank you

TeaHaus is the perfect embodiment of cozy, and was probably my favorite place I went to in Ann Arbor. They have a HUGE selection of teas, so tea lovers will have a blast here. They also have pastries such as macarons, cookies, cakes, and scones with clotted cream and your choice of berry compote or lemon curd. It seems like the pastries vary from day to day or maybe week to week. The teas are brewed fresh and taste incredible! The pastries are also quite yummy. I particularly enjoyed the chai spiced cake, gluten free almond cake with lemon glaze, and brown butter macaron! This was my first time having scones with clotted cream and jam, and that combined with tea it felt like I was having the full English experience. TeaHaus is a no-screen place with no wifi, so you can't sit there with your laptop out and be doing work or studying because their main objective is for you to disconnect and talk with friends, play board games, or relax with a book and enjoy your own company. There is a good amount of tables inside, and a couple cozy corners with couches and board games. It was the perfect place to escape the cold. If you're looking for a place to catch up with friends, this is the perfect place! I can also see myself bringing a book and reading here, but it can get loud so I'd recommend some headphones.

TeaHaus finally reopened their indoor seating and I could not be more ecstatic!!! I've been coming here for their macarons and tea for the past three years but was never able to experience sitting inside to enjoy my tea fresh. The interior is absolutely stunning and gives the coziest vibes! The decor made my heart melt, and it truly is a wonderful place to relax during the cold winter months. The tiramisu I ate was delicious, and the staff were extremely helpful in suggesting which tea I should get. I ended up getting the Eierlikör tea, which has a creamy eggnog taste. I am beyond overjoyed and can't wait to come here with my friends!

The case of macarons was beautiful , multicolored rows of well labelled flavors. We each made some selections and ordered some drinks. Our hosts ordered a large French press pot to share. I had time to speak with staff about the last k of space for baking and how they arrived at so many flavors. They do not bake onsite but receive frozen shipments from the main bakery in Grand Rapids as handiest the Holland, Michigan store. They defrost enough each for each day so they never run out of flavors. They were some of best I have ever had. Nothing like what you might find in the bakery section of a grocer. This is an historic residential building retrofit with a nice conversion to retail without losing its charming brickwork. I will definitely return when next in Ann Arbor.

It's so appealing. The macarons displayed in the case were equally appealing. I don't recall all the flavors, but I had a tough time picking out flavors for my friend and, of course, something for me. I chose three macarons to enjoy at the shop: blueberry, coconut, and strawberry cheesecake. I liked the delicate crack of the macaron shells and the creamy, flavorful centers. Each sported a design to distinguish itself from the others further. I also had a piping hot Earl Gray tea along with these treats. Espresso, French and Italian sodas, and lattes are also available. Customers stopped in throughout my visit for a quick purchase or to savor their macarons at nearby tables. Service was disappointing.

I've been to the big world famous places and had them from the source, not just in their U.S. expansion locations. Let me tell you this. The macaron at The Blu Kitchen, this tiny little place with barely any operating hours at all, from a quality of product perspective is making delicious little morsels that compare favorably with the world's best. Some of the flavors, I'm looking at you salted caramel, are even better than what I had abroad. Of course, there are others that fall short. Notably the ones with sprinkles. However, I am told by Adina they are big sellers with the local crowd. Mon dieu. Arrive early on Saturday for the best selection. Things will sell out. But this is the cost of great food. Comparing the macaron here to others available locally, these are better than that preciously cute store in downtown Ann Arbor. The flavors are true. The textures are perfect. And they far surpass that Detroit pastry chef guy who makes other great things but whose macaron leave me disheartened. Macaron are pretty pricey for a little cookie. But when they are good, they are worth every penny. Why? Because they encapsulate a pursuit of perfection. As a small bite, they need to pack a flavorful punch. That flavor comes from the center. But here's the trick, that center cannot overshadow the rest of the confection. It has to blend seamlessly into the textures of the crisp outer shell, which coalesces into a tender almond flour interior, and that dense creamy middle. At one of the famous places in Paris, the filling was just far too stiff and produced a jarring effect. This can happen on occasion to the best macaron bakers and Adina is no exception. But her pursuit of perfection and attention to detail in every element of production are extraordinary. This review has been a long time coming and serves as a reminder to me that I need to get back to Plymouth for another fix. It's been far too long, and I saw on the gram I just missed coconut caramel. Dang it. If you are a macaron fan, you owe it to yourself to get some of these in your mouth. You can thank me later. Just skip the ones with the sprinkles, and maybe if enough of us buy the better unadorned versions, Adina will stop pandering to the crowd and make the world class treats I know she can.

That intrigued me enough to revisit and try the drink out this past week. Thai Milk Tea, Small w/ Boba ($6.40) - As I was ordering, I was told that the sweetness couldn't be adjusted since the the tea was premade and mixed with sweetener. It's a little unfortunate, but it is what it is. On the first sip, the tea first starts with a somewhat dairy forward flavor, but immediately follows that up with an extremely roasted, smoky and somewhat astringent flavor of a very strongly brewed tea. About half a second later, an extreme sweetness floods the mouth but helps to balance out some of the smoky astringency. I'm not sure how they get it to be so smoky - I regularly brew Thai tea in an espresso machine and I've never gotten it to be so strong before. It's also much smokier than any Thai tea I've had in restaurants. The sweetness is a bit too much for me. After sipping a bit, I decided to save the rest for later and add some fresh brewed Thai tea to temper the sweetness down a bit. The boba this visit is a big improvement over my previous visit. This time, it's not rock hard; instead, the boba has a decent chew on the exterior while retaining quite a bit more firmness in the center. I found the boba to be a bit on the lumpier side and a little inconsistent in shape but it's not bad. Drink Rating: 3/5 Boba Rating: 3/5 I also asked for a small sample of the black tea. This is also pre-sweetened, probably on the order of 25% or 50% vs. a fully sweetened drink as compared to other boba shops. For my tastes, it actually right on the dot: not too sweet, which allows some of the natural tea fragrance to really be at the forefront of the drink without being drowned out. I honestly would get this tea as a milk tea without any additional sweetener added. Bobalee is a first mover into Ypsilanti. It's a very well run business, with friendly staff and great ambiance. As I mentioned in my previous review, this is a business that's worth supporting. Bathrooms - Single unisex room in the back.
