Beef bibimbap
Ainsley E.

The interior and menu has changed under new ownership. Doesn't have as homey a vibe. My bibimbap was fine, but I was disappointed there wasn't a fried egg (I think there is like thinly sliced egg/omelet instead?). Also bummed you just get a small container of gochujang -- I like to apply as much as I want. The bachan was just a little bit of kimchi, cucumbers, and cold tofu...I missed some of the staples you can get elsewhere, like the fish cakes or potato salad. The food and service is very streamlined here, so I'd describe it has a kind of bare bones and sterile experience, but the food was decent. Not sure it inspired me to go out of my way to try more of the menu.

Bulgolgi Dolsot (doesn't come out sizzling)

Plenty of parking in front! It's small inside but clean. They have a monitor to order from. We got Bulgolgi Dolsot and Yuk Gae Jung. The Dolsot was not really crispy rice. But the bulgolgi was delicious and so were the 3 banchan they provided. Yuk Gae Jung was also very flavorful and my husband said it tasted very clean. Pricing is average but food was good!

Hidden gem, authentic Korean restaurant in Ann Arbor! The side dishes were amazing, and the entree was flavorful and satisfying. It's hard to find truly authentic Korean restaurants here, so if you're a fan of Korean cuisine, this place is a must-try!

Beef bulgogi with rice and side dishes

The food tasted incredible and you could tell the ingredients were prepared with tremendous care. As soon as we went in, the ambiance was delightful and everything felt and looked incredibly clean which boosted my dine-in experience even further. My beef bulgogi was tender and the peppers/onions were cooked to perfection in an ideal portion size for dinner. This cozy and welcoming location was the closest thing you will find to the comfort food a grandparent would prepare with love in every bite. I will definitely be back.

Beef Bibimbap

It's not the same owners and the food has changed for the worse. I'm particularly unhappy with my order tonight. The beef bibimbap was boiled and sweet. The seafood pancake has way too much flour and the accompanying sauce was sickeningly sweet. My party also tried the dolsat bibimbap and the spicy beef soup. The general consensus was meh... Here is to hoping the food improves with time, but not a good start

We ate there every two weeks when we lived there and food was always good, Service was always the best, Laid back for such a small place. Will always remember their kindness and service.

We tried the japchae, kalbi, beef mandu, and bulgogi. I love that they have purple rice. Everything was good, and it is not far from Yoon's bakery. I do slightly prefer another local restaurant but it was still good. Service was friendly.

Absolutely love the food here and the wonderful Korean family which owns this restaurant. Their food is delicious and comforting in the just-like-grandma-made-it kind of way. The family is always so kind and welcoming as well, generous and thoughtful with their guests. My personal favorite is the combination japchae (glass noodles with vegetables and meat) and Bulgogi. They have great side dishes that come with! I'm also a big fan of their Galbi tang (soup) to soothe and warm the soul on a cold Michigan day. The meat is fall-off-the-bones tender. Their tofu soup is also a very solid option. Understandably, they get pretty busy in between the takeout orders and all their dine-in customers, so dine-in services for dinner can be on the slower side. I thus usually prefer to order takeout. They do a thoughtful job preserving all the side dishes individually in foil, so the taste is just as great with their takeout!

Thankfully my husband found a spot right on the street! I chose KBBQ for my birthday dinner and my husband found this place. They have a good variety of side dishes (pumpkin, mashed potato, spicy fish cakes, etc)! The food was good and we liked the meat! The brisket wasn't too thin and the steak was delish!! They have decoration very similar to Kimchi Box with neon signs and art featuring scenes from Seoul. The employees were friendly. We want to return and try other dishes on their menu!

This place is aligned fairly well though with food in Korea though ie not highly westernized. This place is in the center of the college area on Liberty and State street. The selection is not extensive but the basics are here including BBQ. Side dishes are decent, Kimchi, which is fundamental to any Korean meal and varies by region, is always included and people have strong opinions about. Theirs is OK but not top notch. Other side dishes are decent. Whatever we ordered, BBQ, Yuk Gae Jang, Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap (Rice. Vegetables and beef inn stone pot), other was pretty good.....just like Seoul Garden used to be before ownership change. We used to go almost exclusively to Seoul Garden near the mall off Boardwalk but after ownership change stopped as the taste changed significantly and not for the better. Its nice to have The Seoul is an option. They have beer and soju (Ubiquitous Korean liquor in Korea that along with Kimchi is many Koreans blood) Environment of the restaurant is modern but still a bit cozy. Overall, definitely worth a try. While we are at it, I have spent allot of time in Japan on business (some vacationing too) and I know it's trendy to go there now especially with the exchange rate, and by all means go, allot to see and experience (and eat!) there. But don't overlook Korea. The two countries have a torrid history and don't want to admit they are similar in many ways....but they are and Korea is loaded with great places to go and food to eat. Traveling can be done on any budget, feel free to reach out if you want to learn more. Also love to hear from experienced travelers, love to learn of new places and things to do.

Kosmo himself assisted us, and he was incredibly welcoming and kind -- even that late. You can really feel the care and pride he puts into the place, and it made the whole experience feel comforting. My partner ordered the bulgogi meal, and I went with The Bop! with bulgogi as my protein. Both dishes were amazing -- hot, flavorful, and packed with that perfect balance of sweet, savory, and fresh ingredients. The bulgogi was tender, seasoned perfectly, and honestly some of the best I've had in a while. It hit so hard after being out in the cold. Overall, Kosmo's Bop Shop delivered exactly what we were hoping for: great food, great service, and a cozy vibe on a freezing night. Huge appreciation to Kosmo for taking care of us. It's a tasty Korean rice beer. We made reservations and were seated not too long after our arrival. The restaurant offers plenty of seating to include a small bar area, and has a vibrant atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. We will be visiting again to try some of the other dishes.

The quality of the food is still amazing and worth a visit, but there were some items I wish stayed on the menu. For example, the spicy salmon crispy rice is no longer available and only available in the tuna form. The portions are also smaller, now coming in three small bites rather than the two big bites from before. The gochujang rigatoni and kimchi paella are also unavailable. Some new dishes I tried and loved were the short rib and the grilled octopus. The octopus was incredibly tender and I couldn't stop eating it! It also comes with delicious potatoes. The short rib was a larger portion and also tasted delicious. The rest of my table ordered the miso cod. The miso cod was delicious, but the portion was quite small and arguably not worth its price compared to the short rib. Cocktails that I recommend are The Gatsby and The Promised Neverland if you like sweeter drinks! For the service, we felt a bit rushed as we were dining. Normally the drinks come out followed by the appetizers, but our appetizers came first and the drinks came with our mains. I think there was a missed opportunity to sip on our drinks and chat with our party as we enjoyed the restaurant's ambience. Otherwise, the food came quickly and was well served.

It was restaurant weekend in downtown Ann Arbor and we didn't have a reservation, so we obliged, although the space was pretty empty. Once we got to the bar, the young waitress slammed menus down in front of us and acted extremely annoyed by our presence. After bothering us every minute for the next 5 minutes to order, me and my friend put in our orders in haste. We then waited for 30 minutes for our meals to arrive. I got the "Amazing Shrimp" sushi roll and my friend got the "Grilled Angus Short Rib". As noted on the menu it comes with Mashed Potatoes, Shishito Peppers, and Garlic Chives. Per my friend's request, the order did not come with the Shishito Peppers or Garlic Chives, but it also didn't have the potatoes. After asking for the potatoes, our server went back and we could hear her yelling at the kitchen staff. Minutes later she came out with a bowl of 3 potatoes, not mashed and not hot. My roll was great and I'd definitely order again if I come back, but I'm honestly not too inclined to after this experience. Lastly, the restaurant itself was freezing. It was a cold day but it was way colder inside than it should've been. We ended up keeping our coats on for most of dinner. I really do want to like it here because the vibe seemed very modern and clean, however the service, food, and level of professionalism fell short of my expectations.
