I would have given it 5 stars if the prices were slightly lower. The quality for the amount paid does not match. We ordered several rolls. The ones I ate were the Bibimbap roll and Special California Roll. The bibimbap tasted good but the cabbage that wrapped it, kept falling apart. It was a struggle to eat it. I wish they used normal seaweed. Also, the gojichang was pretty spicy so beware it does have a kick! The Special California roll was good! It helped soothe the spicyness from the Bibimbap roll. I ordered a carry out on a Monday evening. It was not super busy. Momo is in a strip of shops across from Whole Foods. It has a few tables, but looks like it also does a large carryout business. This is not my first time here. I had the rainbow roll, an osinko roll order of salmon nigiri. It was ready in 15 minutes. The person who took and gave me my order was helpful. The nigiri comes with two pieces per order and the oh Cinco roll was much bigger than many other places. I was so hungry I couldn't wait to get home to eat so I grabbed a piece of the Cinco roll and ate it in the car. It's just the daikon radish with rice and seaweed as I mentioned, it was larger than most other places. It was very good. Actually all of it was very good . Before I decided on this place, I checked with the yelp community. This is a small little spot in a shopping center. You walk in find a seat and then the server brings the menu. If you have to read or follow the advice of any of my reviews, please let it be this one. I am an anonymous food critic writing under a pseudonym. I take my reviews very seriously, but this one more than most. I'll start with the one positive: the servers are kind and responsive. _________________________________________ Foreword: A significant portion of sushi restaurants in the contiguous US are Korean-owned, inspired, and operated. I have no problem with this in general. Momo falls under this category. Being a Korean sushi restaurant as opposed to a Japanese one doesn't change how I rate my experience there. Momo sushi is an abysmal establishment. Its positive reviews are certainly to be taken with a grain of salt. First off, the menu is downright confusing and mildly blasphemous. There are more appetizers than roll options, for one. Around half of the available rolls are baked or fried, and the more traditional sushi rolls (I acknowledge that the sushi roll itself isn't a traditional preparation to begin with, yet compared to the rest of the menu, it's a tame term) are few and far between. Odd pairings and ingredient choices galore. A spider roll with a wine sauce, a baked roll with scallops and CHEDDAR CHEESE (fish and cheese?), a baked roll with lettuce??? Baked lettuce? Read the menu, the roll combinations are just odd, off-putting, and overly complex. The table was not wiped before we sat down. Covered in sticky residue, but I let it slide. Someone probably just really enjoyed their sushi, so if anything, I was just looking forward to seeing what the hype was about. They give complimentary miso soup which is a great touch of service, but for some reason the soup came in a fridge-cold bowl covered in cold condensation, which cooled the hot soup to room temperature before it could be finished. I ordered the squid bomb (reason for name coming later) expecting a lightly battered karaage or tempura style squid. The batter on the squid was almost like high-grit sandpaper in texture, I believe the squid was battered and then frozen because the sandpaper texture and thin batter probably comes from the starches having absorbed liquids and then expanded in the freezer. The texture of the squid itself was grainy, another factor that points away from freshness. Just sad, honestly. So I'd say the Squid Bomb is less of a name for the dish and more of a creative foreshadowing to the result of consumption. The two rolls that were finally settled on were the Mexican roll and the Fireball roll. I asked the waiter what made the Mexican roll "Mexican", and she told me not even their Mexican chef knew. There wasn't a single thing about the roll that correlates to Mexican cuisine or culture. It was a fried roll that was abhorrently greasy, the attempt at tempura resulted in just a limp oily foam. I couldn't believe my mouth that I could be served something like this. Again, maybe the roll is twistedly named in relation to the result of consumption. The fireball roll was going to be Momo's saving grace, as it was the most tame "creative" roll on the menu. Unfortunately, it was just not prepared in a way that would warrant a positive dining experience. A roll with sriracha usually implies it's drizzled on top over the length of the roll. Unfortunately, the fireball roll features a large glob of sriracha on each piece, used to hold the tobiko in place. So yes, fireball indeed. You could pay 99% less money and eat spoonfuls of sriracha in your darkened living room and be happier with more money in your pocket. As I walked out of the restaurant, one of the sushi chefs was handling his phone with gloved hands. Those gloves will touch your sushi. You just can't make this stuff up. Sushi chefs handle some of the most delicate ingredients hundreds of times more frequently than any other cook at the majority of restaurants in the world. Sushi is an art that requires a connection to a methodology and integrity informed by culture and tradition. Please trust my review and my experience. This restaurant is not worth your time nor money. I now sit on my porcelain throne in regret. read more

I've been a Momo fan for years. We rarely get through this area to visit. This is a stop we will try to make. While I'm no authority on sushi or Japanese fare, everything here is to my liking and beyond. It's also consistent. From the day I first came here to today. The Edamame is properly streamed and the rolls are fantastic. Best part of the meal. My fav rolls are the Eel Avacado Cucumber and the Shrimp Tempura. As far as the salad I'm sold on the Salmon Tataki. They are swift. They are efficient. Most times I order to-go while Mrs. E. orders up the road. When I do eat here, the service is always terrific. I really appreciate that they offer gluten-free options and are very considerate of food allergies. I've ordered through Uber Eats for pickup and delivery; it's very good and consistent every time! My favorite is the Tuna Lover Cupbop, which is like a poké bowl. It comes with plenty of toppings and greens on top of very well cooked sushi rice. I also get the spicy sauce, which is like a spicy mayo. This is my favorite place to get a poké bowl in Ann Arbor, and it sets the standard for me. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Good sushi, good value! Stopped in for a quick lunch and opted for a dine-in special. Got a combination of two sushi rolls ($11 pre-tax and tip) - Spicy Tuna and Salmon, Avocado, Cucumber. Pretty classic rolls. Came out quickly and was tasty. Quality and freshness of fish was good. Amount of fish and ratio with rice was good too. Nicely executed simple rolls! And this was plenty filling for lunch. Will say that the Spicy Tuna is actually a little spicy! I liked it, but if you can't handle spice at all, just know it's a little spicier (think it's a sriracha based spicy mayo) than other places. My husband & I dropped in for dinner after a quick Christmas shopping trip at Briarwood Mall. The place is small, but clean and we were able to get a table right away. The staff was friendly and the service was good. We started out with an order of pork gyoza, which came out quickly. They were hot and crispy, but a little underwhelming. For dinner, we were intrigued by the "sushi burritos" on the menu. We love sushi and poke bowls, but have never tried anything like that. When we asked what the difference was, our server said they are the same, but the burritos are larger. The Fireball Burrito was actually a dollar cheaper than the Fireball Sushi Roll, so I gave it a try. It was tasty, but I think I'd go with the sushi roll next time as it just didn't feel like sushi eating it like that. I think I prefer the bite-size pieces and the crunch lost its crunch when mixed in like it was. My husband tried the Dragon Burrito and he enjoyed it, but felt eating it burrito-style was definitely messier! Overall, we felt like the food was good and the prices were reasonable. All of rolls were doused in sauce except the spicy California roll. I have NEVER had or was ever served totally sauced sushi rolls before. Is this just the area I'm in? Rolls are to be served in the freshest simplest form and sauce if any should be on the side. It's weird to have sushi rolls sauced up seriously slathered in it. The fish, tuna and salmon, did not have a fishy smell, so that's a good thing. The ginger and wasabi was bland like it wasn't fresh or had been exposed to air and lost its taste. There are tables to dine in, and you can even sit at the bar while they prepare the goodness. He was satisfied with his first sushi burrito. Came here with a few friends for dine in and thought the sushi taste and portions was pretty good for the price! Although I'm not sure I would dine in again as it's a very cramped space with only a few tables, perhaps next time I might try sitting at the sushi bar. They don't serve alcohol here either just as a heads up, so if you were hoping for sake or beer with your meal, you'll have to get your fix after you're done with your meal. We ordered the tuna tataki salad, sushi deluxe, Scotland roll, Momo roll, and the Amberjack roll. Tuna tataki: I give this an 8/10, good portion size, fresh fish and tasty although just a little heavy on the dressing Sushi Deluxe: this is $27 for 8 chefs choice nigiri plus an 8 piece California roll which I'd give a 6.5/10 for because 3 of the 8 nigiri pieces were gristly which is very unpleasant Scotland Roll: this was the crowd favorite but you have to be a fan of cream cheese in your sushi, I know, polarizing! I give this a 9/10 Momo Roll: not a ton of flavor beyond all the fried tempura but still tasty, 7/10 Amber Jack Roll: I was getting pretty full by this point but tried a piece and thought it was pretty decent! Meh. This place was recommended to me by a friend, and I had higher expectations. I definitely think this place was just not the vibe I was after and if you like sushi with fried stuff, it may be just your speed. My friend likes to get sushi for takeout here. You might give it a chance if the food they offer is your jam as it was doing a bustling business while I was there. I was sad that the specialty rolls mostly contained fried ingredients. I don't like fried stuff in my rolls, so I would have been fine walking out after looking at the menu. The sushi pieces were hard to eat...while the meat portion was generous, the rice part was so small that I couldn't balance the sushi on the chopsticks. Also, if you are after some sake or wine to go with your food, you need to look elsewhere as soda is as strong as you'll get here. As for service, the poor woman who was waiting on tables was so busy that she wasn't able to get back to us with more water. I had to go up to the counter to ask for more. Ambiance...nonexistent. This little restaurant in a strip mall reminded me of a diner that served sushi but didn't have the cutesy diner feel. So, overall, this is a no from me, but don't necessarily let that stop you if the things that bothered me aren't a problem for you. read more

The lunch specials were incredible. 2 - 8 piece sushi rolls for 11 bucks, 3 - 8 piece for 15.00. It was fresh and flavorful. I ordered the salmon rolls and the spicy tuna. Both were perfect. I was perusing the local Yelp activity last night and ran across a couple Al M.'s photos - some from Momo and some from Dom's (it was Fat Tuesday after all.) I basically started to drool on the spot. So... the following morning after a nice workout, I headed over to both. I started with a call from the gym parking lot over to Momo. The person that answered the phone was pleasant and helpful. I ended up with the Momo burrito and the fireball roll. Both were spectacular. I haven't had a burrito before, and surely will sampling all they have to offer. The fireball roll was my favorite though because I LOVE tobiko and spice. Fireball delivered. The prices were certainly on par with other places in the area, if not a little lower than one would expect. Everything seemed very, very fresh. The sushi chefs yelled thanks to me on the way out the door. Parking is not a problem right now, though not sure how it would get when things are busy again. Regardless, there is a parking lot - and that beats a lot of other A2 options. I will most definitely return. read more

I also couldn't help but be intrigued by the fusion items, so I also ordered the Bulgogi Roll (Beef Bulgogi roll with cucumber, wrapped in steamed green cabbage. Served with gochujang and eel sauce -- $14) - this was VERY good. The description is a bit deceptive as it's still wrapped in seaweed like a regular roll. However, still tasty! Just a little bit too sauce-y for me so I'll get it on the side next time but if you like bold flavors and punch, leave it as-is! Last but not least, we enjoyed a spicy tuna roll. Not too spicy at all and I liked that the tuna wasn't just super mashed scraps but pieces. That's when you know you got the good good. I called for pick up & it was a quick 15 minutes. I suggest going to a grocery store if you want sushi. The rolls were very loosely wrapped without crisp cuts, with fish appearing slimy. The @spicy" was more representative of a southern heat rather than an Asian burn. This could relate to the fact that Spanish is being spoken by the chefs. I hope I don't get food poisoning which I usually don't worry about but I am detecting something a bit off here. I gave two stars as the device was quite good. I love MoMo. And I really love the MoMo burrito. I drive out of my way for it. And I want to try all the sushi burritos but I'm afraid I won't like it as much as the MoMo so I don't. I stick with MoMo! And you get to pick a sauce. The MoMo doesn't need a sauce. A sauce will cover up the fresh taste. We shared a pot of ginger tea, which was enough for four people to enjoy. It was presweetened and I would have preferred that it wasn't. I never thought to ask. The rest of my group shared 4 rolls of sushi and each had a small bowl of miso soup. They felt everything was okay, except for the mango roll. Despite many sushi options in this college town, Momo has become my "go-to" for high quality Japanese and Asian fusion meals. With pandemic cautions continuing as of this writing, Momo is currently only open for takeout or delivery. The Momo Burrito with its marinated tuna and salmon, Tamago, Tobiko, Masago, cucumber and avocado is the bomb accented with eel sauce. I must admit that it is hard for me to drive down Eisenhower Parkway without blowing into Momo to pick up their signature burrito. But today, I also ordered a Fireball Roll at the savvy recommendation of fellow Elite Yelper Martha R. This specialty roll is loaded with delicious spicy tuna and cucumber & crunch. However it's the combo of the toppings that bring the "fireball" heat with Siracha, three types of colorful Tobiko, sesame oil and Masago. Conveniently located in a strip mall off of Eishenhower parkway they offer Japanese cuisine along with Japanese fusion. We sat at the counter where we could watch the chef make fresh sushi. To start we ordered the orange ceviche, the chef chops fresh raw fish, than adds a little lime and fresh orange juice, the presentation was outstanding. I absolutely loved the flavor and the freshness, my wife felt it could use more soy sauce, which she added, she enjoyed it after adding the soy sauce. Their salad was good using the ginger carrot dressing you would get at most Japanese restaurants. I really enjoyed the la roll, you can definitely taste the fish and the sweet wine reduction at the end gives the roll a nice finishing touch. I love how much of the fish you taste in the spicy tuna and salmon rolls it is not overwhelmed by spicy mayo, perfectly balanced. The tofu was cooked perfectly and the variety of sauces was amazing! They have a shared private lot, that can get quite busy at peak hours, but is easy to get to. We loved our sushi and bubble tea at Momo! The ladies waiting on us were sweet, knowledgeable, and great servers. I ordered the spicy roll combo with spicy California, spicy tuna, and spicy salmon. 24 pieces of amazing sushi. Each combo also came with a small salad and miso soup. My husband got the sushi regular combo and he enjoyed the variety. He got to try new types of seafood that way. My brother got the 3 rolls lunch combo with spicy California, one with Avocado, cucumbers, and carrots I believe, and another spicy salmon or tuna. We all enjoyed everything immensely! Our hubble tea was delicious. I got a tarro with peach bubbles and my brother got tarro with passion fruit bubbles. Mine was purple and his was typical tarro coloring. Not sure why. They tasted almost the same (milk wise). Either way we both loved the teas also. We were greeted, seated by the window and reviewed the menu, after spending some time on the menu, we went with the following items: - Sushi Regular Combo (you get a California roll and 5 nigiri) - Sashimi (Yellowtail, Cajun Tuna and Egg - 3 pcs each) - Spicy Tuna - Squid Bomb - Soup and Salad came complimentary with your order So lets start... - Miso Soup: Bland tasting (might be good for healthy purposes), but the soup really lacked that miso punch, very light on miso. They need to add more Miso to improve the taste. - Salad: just ok. - Squid Bomb: They should called this rubber bomb lol, Basically, it's fried squid, but whomever cooked this, they over fried it, thus making it taste like you were chewing on rubber. - Sashimi: -- Yellowtail - fresh and excellent, definitely recommended. -- Cajun Tuna - slices of tuna, torched, sprinkled with Shichimi Togarashi - Japanese Mixed Chili Pepper -- Egg - the egg was seasoned and cooked perfectly - Spicy Tune Roll: Their spicy tuna roll is different from others (different can be good). Tuna is not chopped like others and they've added slices of cucumber. As for flavor department, it was ok, not something I would get again. - California Roll - this was the best roll and the best item amongst all the items we ordered. Some other thoughts; when you walk in through the main door, another door greets you, still trying to determine the purpose of the 2nd door. The sushi rice was ok as well, personally I prefer rice to be more on the vinegary side, but this is personal taste. I'll be back to try other offerings, like the poke, cup bowls and burritos.
