Good pastrami sandwich but wait was too long. We came here at around 11:30am on a Saturday game day and the wait was 90-100mins! We ended up getting our sandwiches shortly after the 100-min mark and had our food outdoor at the patio. Staff were very friendly. I like how the outdoor area was pretty big and felt that everyone was enjoying themselves. I will not wait for 100+mins for the same sandwich again but glad I checked off this place.
Got the pastrami Reuben, Zingerman's Reuben, garlic potato salad and a Dr Brown's (of course). The pickles were stars, I prefer their full sour to half sour. I like the corned beef Reuben more than the pastrami Reuben and enjoyed the garlic potato salad. Their bread quality is great!
WHAT is not to love about this wonderful Jewish American deli? Breads and bagels extraordinaire! Deli market unsurpassed! Food menu so diverse and wonderful! Service is fine tuned to the huge volume of customers that arrive every day. Ordering is down to a science, once one gets familiar with the ordering kiosk. Assistants are nearby if you have any trouble. Order to take out or dine in. We like to dine in as the atmosphere on the second floor dining area (steps or elevator to ascend up) is fun and whimsical. Very casual. Pictures below describe what we chose (and LOVED)! As a MSU Spartan, GO GREEN, Zingermans might be one of the only reasons I'd travel to blue nation! Worth the sacrifice... : ) (just kidding)
Was it chaotic here? Absolutely. Was it cramped and stuffed with people and goods? Yep. Were the prices beyond acceptability? Wow, yeah. Was the food here good? Also yes! So while it was chaotic and overwhelming, the workers would hand you a menu, explain the purchasing process and even give you requested samples! Due to trying a sample of their pretzel, I ended buying a bag. An $8 bag!!! It was perfectly crunchy and buttery and very good! I don't even like pretzels and these impressed me. Also got a $9 bag of only 5 palmier cookies. They were good but definitely a splurge. BF bought a small bottle of balsamic vinegar for $23, like wut?! I eyed a jar of salsa for $28 and jam for $16 but damn, everything was way above even farmer's market prices. The sandwiches start at $18 for a small and go to $24 for a large. BF and I got the chicken avocado on challah bread and a new crunchy pickle. Zingerman's does a good job with their pickles! Skins were a little too hard but I love that they're not overly pickled and still crunchy and not too much other seasoning. For $21, the sandwich was not very big and they don't include chips or fries. If I lived closer, heck yes I would come here pretty often to try a sample and buy a very expensive baked good. I appreciated the very friendly and knowledgeable staff. It was giving Trader Joe's employee energy! Parking was a little tricky but not impossible. We came with locals so they knew what was up.
Beautiful store with efficient ordering process and tons of seating. The sandwich was good but quite overpriced. Wish there was actually less meat in it, although that could be personal preference. Would not recommend the pickles
(Kari's Rating 8.5) I usually don't stop into Sandwich shops, but a group and I were in for a snowboarding chip in Michigan and one of my friends recommended the place. I initially thought this was going to be a mom and pop shop, but it actually looked like you were stepping into a Trader Joe's. Everything was so vividly colored, and the people who worked there really knew their product. I got into a conversation with the bread man for like 10 minutes, talking about the different kinds of flour. The sandwich ordered was a little expensive at $22, but they do give you a nice decent proportion of turkey meat and it did come with avocado. My friend got the corned beef, which was pretty good, it was a little dry, but it also came with a thousand island sauce. The pickle was the best thing about the meal. It was lightly crispy, very well seasoned, not too spicy but absolutely delectable, I wish I would've known I should've paid the $.75 to get the other pickle. I'm not in the area as I live in Chicago, but if I'm ever back snowboarding, I would for sure. Make a stop here.
#81.5 Ricky's 50/50 with addition of Swiss cheese - It was good, but was expecting more meat for regular size sandwich. It was a lot of bread. I had to take some of the hard crust out. I ordered a side of coleslaw and it went well, but I think I might have just preferd #2. The wait said 25-35 min from ordering but I waited for about 45 minutes.
I have been going to Zingerman's since attending Michigan. It's a standard. Anytime I am back in Ann Arbor or even Detroit, I'll make the effort to go to Zingerman's. As of my most recent visit, I will pause before I make the effort. I ordered, as I always do, a corned beef on rye. This time, the bread was four times as much as the corned beef. Oswald's mile high was no mile. Perhaps Oswald needs to measure twice. The latke was soggy and greasy. The potato salad was brown and had a sell by date of July 4, but it was July 6. The currant rugelach was still okay.

It's a cute deli and store that has tons of high quality oils, coffee, canned goods, meats and cheeses. The staff are super friendly and gave great recommendations on what to order. I ordered a #22 Jenny's fix and thought it was really great! The portion was very filling but a little expensive for a sandwich. I understand this is a great quality "farm to table" type of deli so I understand the higher price though. The "new" pickle was crisp,refreshing, and salty. Definitely a great balance to the meaty and filling sandwich. Overall a great experience and would love to come back and try some of the other sandwiches!
It's a fun atmosphere very energetic personnel. The staff are very outgoing. It seems every time you go in things are change around. I love the Charlie M's Tuna sandwich is gigantic but oh so good! It's fresh and they toast the bread almost like a grill cheese sandwich. The pasta salad is great so is their potato salad.
I love Zingerman's and can't skip making a visit anytime I'm in Ann Arbor. This is a bright, vibrant place with excellent food and a very interesting array of deli foods and other items. Staff is always friendly and helpful and the sandwiches are awesome. Also brings me back to my college days when I would come here and wait in line for their sandwiches
We were on our way to Grand Rapids for a wedding, and were passing through Ann Arbor at lunchtime. After a quick Yelp search for a place to eat, I knew we had to try Zingerman's. Parking is very tight around this location, and we ended up finding a space several blocks away, but it was a short walk. They have a little shed set up outside with ordering kiosks that quite a few people were using. Being first time visitors though, we had some questions so we went inside. First and foremost, this location is a store! You can buy bread, deli meats, condiments, even cookbooks! You work your way through to the back of the store where you can place sandwich orders. Even inside you use the computer kiosks, but there are helpful employees there to answer all your questions. We asked about the size of the sandwiches, and thank goodness we did! They are large, so we split one Italian sub, and that was more than enough for both of us. The bread that it comes on is so delicious, it just made the sandwich! The whole pickle was also a big surprise, but we gobbled it up as well. Zingerman's has an entire array of housemade sodas, and the vanilla cream soda was fabulous! Lots of seating inside, but being that it was a beautiful day we sat outside. Despite it being located in "that state up north" as we Ohioans say, it was completely delicious and I would absolutely stop again anytime I was in the area.
What an amazing experience for a deli! I'm in Ann Arbor quite a bit these days and I've yet to try Zingerman's Deli. We decided to order a carry out as we were heading to a Rally in the area. I love Reuben's and this one was piled high! The Jewish Rye was fantastic. They make their own Russian dressing, too. I ended up getting the small size, but it was HUGE! I paired it with a strawberry lemonade! This place is really cool and they have so many unique offerings. Trust me. order ahead as the lines were insane! This is a must stop if you're in the area.
I've gone to Michigan a few times already but this was my first time at Zingerman's. It looks a bit pricy when you first look at the menu but the food is DELICIOUS. I never knew how much I'd need to get a sandwich again until now since I'm a flight away. You can order outside with their touch-screen or inside with a person. The workers are kind and are ready to help when you're there! Such a fun space you can explore with the amount of items you can shop from olive oil, bread, and so much more. read more

Food: very good, very expensive, very generous portion Service: definitely order ahead, very friendly people Ambiance: lots of unique meats and cheeses and a whole assortment of goodness ready to go The bread was not my favorite, and the thousand island lacked a little punch for me. But a very good sandwich and I can see why there are so many amazing reviews. Menu is unique and offers something for everyone so I would definitely recommend a stop here. read more

I've been told that it's a rite of passage to visit Zingweman's deli. I must say, it is quite the experience! On a Saturday afternoon it was rather lively and busy. However, the folks working there were incredibly kind and helpful. We ordered our food on a kiosk that was easy to use and found a seat outside. The food: Fountain ginger ale- 4/5 it was so delicious and tasted homemade with real cane sugar Turkey sandwich with tomato and avocado spread- 4/5 - this sandwich is huge! Very fresh Mustard potato salad - 3/5 it was just okay, if you're used to homemade potato salad, this one tasted a bit manufactured. Overall, I'm glad I was able to experience Zingerman's. However, you can expect to pay top dollar for a sandwich that might not seem to fully deliver. read more

Service was great-- super friendly and pretty fast when we went right before closing on a Thursday night. Soo crowded today on labor day but we made it through the rush! Waited 37 minutes for our sandwich but it was tasty!! You can sit either in their outside areas, upstairs, or you can even use their cafe seating areas. We ordered their Jenny's Pastrami sandwich and it was soooo good and filling!!! Shared the large with my husband and it was a perfect size for both of us to get full. I highly recommend their sandwiches and would try it again! read more

Zingerman's Delicatessen has been on my must try list for a while and I finally got to visit Ann Arbor last weekend and it was even better than I hoped! The food is phenomenal and my party tried a variety of things. We loved them all and I know there's so much more to try next time. Jenny's Fix was delicious but the Frank and Kathy's Half Italian Sub was our group's favorite. We also loved the garlic potato salad and the pickles. We were there on a very busy Saturday lunch and we got through the line quickly to order and there is ample seating upstairs. The workers were incredibly helpful and friendly! It's very fun inside and my nephew loved looking at all the murals. I loved that they have an elevator for people who prefer elevators over stairs or families with strollers. I would recommend parking in a parking garage and walking a few blocks because the street parking is tight and busy. read more

THE ABSOLUTE BEST DELI! Visiting my daughter this trip I read the reviews and thought I should try this place myself. We went as a party of four and ordered four different sandwiches. The service was excellent! The outdoor patio was busy we were able to sit and enjoy our lunch. Please see photos of the amazing sandwiches we ordered! Definitely check this place out! read more

I'm not a big sandwich person, and the Georgia Reuben is honestly the best sandwich I've ever had! The balance is perfect. The slaw has a sweet-tangy flavor that adds umph without overpowering the sandwich. As someone who usually skips slaw, it's the perfect amount of crisp layered in so it complements everything instead of taking over. The bread is toasted to a perfect crisp on the outside while the inside is soft. The contrast between the crispy exterior and the soft, tasty interior holds me in the moment. The cheese is the final touch that balances the crisp bread and crunchy slaw. Every texture works together. The portion size surprised me. I ordered the small thinking it would be light, but it was more than enough. I was completely stuffed and couldn't imagine ordering a large. I wish I could somehow fly this sandwich over anytime I wanted as I'm from another state, but it's that memorable. I actually came back two days in a row just to have it again. $60 two sandwiches, fountain drinks, chips for me and potato salad for my husband...oof. The pesto chicken sandwich was dry, mine was just ok, the flavors weren't there. The pickles we were given were a whole entire pickle..who wants to eat that much pickle? The best thing we ate here were the bbq chips. Service was relatively fast; we did come at a busy time. Maybe we need to try more sandwiches but probably when we've financially recovered for spending so much. Not good enough for the price, zingers! read more
What can I say about Zingerman's That has not been said a million times. Every time we are in A2, we stop in for a meal or to pick up food. The food in the deli and the bakery are the best quality foods you can buy. Don't get me wrong, you will pay for that quality! We do always try to get sandwiches and a slice of one of their amazing desserts. It definitely has that university town feeling with the workers. It's a bit chaotic, but if you can't find what you want, just ask. The employees will be more than happy to find what you want. Go Green! read more

Stopped over after my girlfriend's doctors appointment, this is a routine for her so was excited to try this place. Pulled pork sandwich was ok. Bread could have been slightly toasted but the sauce soaked right in by the end so I enjoyed those bites more. Girlfriend didn't like the texture combination of asparagus and mushrooms with cheese. I took a bite and wasn't a fan either but asparagus was good. Parking was a pain, need more accessibility parking spots in the area. Can only imagine the rush of people during football season. read more

Long wait, limited parking, but that BLT was so good. Came to Ann Arbor on a pleasant late spring day and with a 40 minute wait we walked around outside and found a table in the nearby park for a phone notification on our online order. Beautiful setting. Farmers Market made parking tight but online payment was easy in the nearby lot. The sandwiches were great. Sides were meh to me but partner loved the cucumber pickles (sounds redundant but I think that's part of the description). and the potato salad was ok but should have chose the old fashioned kind. The fountain soda drinks were wonderful. Not too sweet and not too fizzy. read more

I had the corn beef sandwich on rye bread, with Swiss cheese, Russian dressing and sauerkraut. Based on the price of $23 this sandwich should have been phenomenal, instead it was a major let down. Bland sauerkraut, dry bread, and little to no dressing left much to be desired by this sandwich. Oddly they also put sour cream on a side. I could only eat less than half and threw the rest into a bin. Waste of money if you ask me and a tourist trap. read more
Always my first stop in Ann Arbor. We stopped in straight from the airport to get items for dinner and snacks. It was not as crowded as usual because it was mid afternoon and not a meal time. That is not to say it was empty. It is never even close to empty. All the staff was friendly and helpful and they had every my heart desired for the day. I have never been to Ann Arbor in the 20+ years I have been visiting and if I miss going as frequently as in the past, there are always items I can get by mail order. They do that well too. read more
A classic for a reason! Zingerman's is a staple in Ann Arbor and a must eat on every trip we make to visit family in MI. You can't go wrong here! The staff is ridiculously friendly and helpful, the shop and restaurant are consistently clean and inviting, and the food truly can't be beat. On our most recent trip we had Tarb's Tenacious Tenure (delectably delicious), Zingerman's Reuben (tender and tasty), and Lisa C.'s Boisterous Brisket (meaty and magical). We also got all three of their potato salads, a bowl of the matzo ball soup, both types of house made pickles, and the latkes. Everything was delicious! Tarb's Tenacious Tenure, old fashioned potato salad, and the traditional "old" pickle were the favorites of our group but basically everything we ordered received a "wow" or two from us! The shop downstairs had a bunch of interesting oils, bitters, cookbooks, and treats as well, along with a bon-a-fide deli counter serving up slices of meats, fresh bread, and some amazing looking cheeses! If you find yourself anywhere close to Ann Arbor, you've gotta stop by Zingerman's! Pro tip: the ordering situation may seem a bit intimidating, but the workers are incredibly friendly! Don't be daunted by the quick pace of the place, but if you get nervous easily then look at the menu on their website site and know what you want before you go! read more
Your new favorite deli - huge sandwiches and a nice market! There is definitely going to be a wait but it's worth it. Order at the screen, but you can have a hard menu before you get there to make sure you know what you're getting. My husband and I split one of the small pastrami sandwiches and it was still too much for us. Also got a single latke on the side which was gigantic and definitely splittable. The applesauce was also chunky and clearly homemade. The pastrami was sweet and smoky, the bread was fresh and the whole thing was great. Staff is friendly and happy to answer any questions. You can sit outside under the tent or upstairs inside. Would love to come back to the baked good and some other artisan foods from the market. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Ann Arbor and make sure to come hungry!!! read more

Is the meat Kosher?
Zingermans is a Jewish deli and yes, the meats, that we know of, are kosher.
How long is the wait for weekend breakfast?
We haven't gone during a weekend breakfast. What I can tell you is at dinner when there is an extremely long line, it moves quickly. The food is well worth the wait!
How crazy is this place on Saturdays at lunch? I'm looking to take a family of five for lunch and want to plan for drive time.
Just went here for lunch today and there was about a 10 minute wait to order and roughly 20 minutes to get food! Pretty busy but they're efficient.
