One thing I like about this place is having lots of options for customizing the bowl. I try to limit carbs, so I swapped out the rice for more veggies. All the ingredients were fresh and yummy. Only quibble...could have used more of the cilantro lime sauce. Gonna order a second tub next time. But there was still enough of the sauce to give everything a nice tang. Went to pay and it was $17...apparently the 7 small cubes of tuna were a surcharge of $10 and no one told me. I asked if the Tuna Bowl would have been the better deal since it's $4 cheaper at that point than a kids meal and the checkout gal said yes someone should have told you. No drink included in this either so after a drink it was a $20 kids meal. Someone at corporate needs to change their pricing strategy because not coming back after that. read more

Delicious + Healthy This is my second time eating from Corelife Eatery, the first time being in Indiana. I was happy to find that they have one in Ann Arbor, so my coworkers and I ordered this for lunch. You get a yummy meal without the guilt because the ingredients are fresh and healthy. All the ingredients used are of the freshest quality and everything can be customized. My dear sister has a one note palate so for her the Southwest Chicken Bowl-mixed salad greens with purple rice, corn, avacado, shredded cheese and a Lime Cilantro Vinaigrette is her consistent choice . I've been working my way down the menu. I've enjoyed the soups, especially the carrot ginger and I order a small soup and small size bowl when they have that. I am particularly fond of the ingredients within the Greek bowl and the Korean bowl. -I've tried the Tofu, and I like all their greens but I also generally choose the purple rice, as it's unique. I love the fact that you can order online as it gives you time to study all the standard ingredients and do your subtractions and additions of how you want to customize it . Service is very good and they do a huge takeout business addition to diners that eat there. They also make wraps and we have tried the beef wrap and it was good quality beef, and very tasty. My wife and I placed our first order yesterday and had mixed results. Her Sweet Potato Buddha bowl was good but my Spicy Thai Chicken & Rice Noodle bowl was inedible. The problem with the noodle bowl began with the dry chicken pieces and ended with the weirdly textured rice noodles. The chicken pieces were obviously prepared offsite in a commissary and were very dry and unpleasant, while not spoiled, the taste and texture were off-putting. The noodles were weirdly pasty in texture and nothing like any rice (or other) noodle I've ever had. Sadly I had to throw 90% of this entree into the trash and make myself a sandwich. I also ordered the Mac and cheese which was also unsatisfying but I ate it anyway because I needed to fill the "hole" in my meal caused by the inedible Thai Chicken bowl . So, as I indicated at the top of this review, a very mixed bag indeed. My wife was satisfied but I would have to try a few other dishes before I could recommend this place. I used to think this was an exercise place because of the name "Core Life" not realizing it's a restaurant. Ordering is similar in style to Chipotle and Subway. Order in line, pay, take your food to go or dine in. The bowls start with a base of rice or greens. I ordered the Korean BBQ pork bowl. Sides were confusing because I didn't see them listed on the menu but they are listed on the glass when you walk by the counter (Brussels sprouts, Mac and cheese, sweet potatoes) The bowl had good flavor. Purple rice, pulled pork, veggies, kimchi, and a fried egg. Their take on the classic Korean dish bibimbop. The kimchi is much more mild than traditional kimchi. The downside was the wet and soggy ingredients. I think the pork should have drained more before throwing it into the bowl. If they had been patient and let the pork drip more before adding it I think my bowl would have been much more enjoyable. Out of three gals working the counter, the first gal was disinterested and not helpful. When I said this is my first time here she said, "Ok let me know when you're ready to order." Instead of introducing me to how everything works, suggestions, etc. the second gal that put the protein on the bowl wasn't rude but wasn't friendly either. The third gal that was working the register was very friendly and approachable. She offered lids and bags for any leftovers. I would come back for the healthy fresh ingredients. read more

A few updates since my last review: they offer curbside pick up so you can place your order on the app them have them run it out when you arrive and call them. I don't love going into businesses where there's unmasked eating going on, even for carryout, so it's nice they they'll run it out to you. They also have some new menu items, including tacos! They serve them on lettuce or a flat bread, so they're not your traditional taco, but they're still quite good! I've only had the steak fajita one, (for science!) which I liked but I don't see myself ordering tacos only when they have those delicious salads and rice bowls to choose from. read more

I love Core Life Eatery! I first discovered this place on a road trip to Ohio by accident. I was hungry and stopped in for something that wasn't fast food and was blown away at the quality, taste and menu variety offered on the menu. After getting home, I realized the closest one was in Ann Arbor! UGH so far from me. Anyway, I was meeting a friend for lunch and told her about this place to eat at. She'd never heard of it before and decided to give it a try. We both loved it! I will say, the menu seems a bit trimmed down from what I remember. It still has a decent selection of items to choose from, but slightly smaller from the one in Ohio. That's fine since I wanted tacos anyway since there fabulous here. I went with the Mediterranean Chicken tacos with a drink and it wasn't terribly expensive. I can't remember what my friend got but it was chicken as well. We both loved our foods and enjoyed their drink selection as well. They don't serve fountain pop and it's all in house beverages. Things like Green Tea, Lemonade, Mandurian juices and a few others. The chicken here was super juicy and tasty, and we were able to refill our drinks a few times while we sat and caught up on life since we've seen each other. Seemed like just a healthy place to try out but I was wrong! CoreLife eatery was amazing! They take salads and bowls to the next level with so much flavor and unlimited toppings. Personally, I ordered a "Pick two - Create your own" so I didn't experience their house bowls but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't disappoint. I was very impressed by the different dressings as well. I got the choice of picking two so I got creative. My favorite was the ranch! I poured it all over my bowl. Also, I was hesitant about the purple rice but it was so good and made me feel good. Then with the deal I order I got to pick a side and I decided to splurge on some extra carbs. I ordered the Mac and cheese and WOW. The Mac and cheese was literally perfect. It was so creamy and cheese I was very surprised by how delicious it was. After my meal I didn't feel overstuffed so that was the best part about it. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I told them it was my first time around here and they helped guide me while creating my bowl. One of the gentleman even gave me his own recommendation on protein options! I ended up trying the chicken tinga taco bowl, it was like a healthier version of Chipotle for only 500 calories. It tasted much fresher and more filling than what I get a chipotle and I loved that I got fresh avocado slices instead of guac. Corelife has been on my radar for many months, but thanks to an Official Yelp Event, I was able to meet the local franchise owner, general manager, and chef. That's when I realized how great this chain actually is and vowed to return. These days, there are lots of places where they say everything is made from scratch. But at one of the "better burger" joints, their from scratch aioli is simply chopped garlic mixed into an industrial vat of mayonnaise. At Corelife, they go so far as to even make their own buttermilk for the ranch dressing. For realz. The one thing I can't resist is a salad that eats like a cheeseburger. So when I returned on my own dime, that's exactly what I ordered. Except I decided to be clever. Instead of getting a full sized bowl, I went for a smaller one. Mostly, that's because I don't find salads to make for good leftovers. But I also hate waste, so I'll eat all the food that's served to me. Plus, I didn't feel like stuffing myself, even if it was on "healthier" food. While I love that Corelife offers a smaller option, I can't say I'm thrilled about the value proposition though. It feels like a lot less food, for close to the same price as a full sized bowl. That said, it was the perfect portion. I left with my hunger abated, and without feeling full. That feeling of fullness is a sign of overeating. I did order my salad, which came with steak, bacon, blue cheese, and walnuts, with a scoop of whole grains. I got a bit of rice and some quinoa to increase the fiber portion of the salad, and make the whole thing more filling. Based on my conversation with the owner on my first visit, I was under the impression one could add a scoop of grain for free. But that wasn't the case in practice. The cashier wasn't sure how to ring it up, so she charged me for an extra vegetable topping. The few cents wasn't worth fretting over at the register, but the menu and the process of ordering can be pretty overwhelming for the neophyte. There are so many options, so many customizations, and lots and lots of choices. If you aren't careful, your bowl could get very expensive very fast. A pro tip from the GM was to start with one of the pre-built bowls, and swap out items as desired. It's a good tip. And to make things even easier, the awesome employees on the line will gladly let you sample any of the ingredients, dressings, proteins, or toppings. On my salad, I swapped out sweeter cranberries for julienned beets, and that made me very very happy. I also went with a different dressing after giving it a taste, and finding it super delicious. All told, Corelife is a great place. I would go there more often if the discount on the small bowl was more in line with the reduction in size of the base bowl. But until then, I'll probably just stick to the standard sized portion and only visit when I'm hungry enough to take one down. Because this is delicious, clean food, made from scratch, by on site chefs, in a fast food setting. I love what they are doing, and fully support Corelife's mission. It totally lives up to the promise of that burrito place which somehow lost its way over the years. Hopefully Corelife will be able to stay true to its values as the chain grows. Maple on the west side of town. There is ample parking and it's a lovely space that's bright and modern. While this is a bit of a chain, this is the fifth location here in Michigan, which is nice! I think this might be the only location in SE Michigan (so far!). The concept of the restaurant is fresh food and the entire menu is gluten-free. Many of the options are vegan and vegetarian or can be made as such so it's very accommodating! It's a make-your-own style place where you can watch your food being made and prepared. They have tons of grain bowls, green bowls/salads, and some plates as well. They list all the nutritional information and have refreshing fruits lemonades and juices to choose from. I ordered two vegan/vegetarian items to try and review: * Tofu plate * Ancient Greens Salad with Tofu Both were delicious! The tofu plate was filled with marinated, sautéed firm tofu, roasted sweet potatoes and beets and a side salad. You have the options of having quinoa or other grains as your side, though. The ancient grains bowl had greens, tofu, other veggies and a really yummy dressing. I also tried their beet lemonade which was so refreshing and not too sweet! Overall, a fantastic experience and I would 100% try this again and recommend this to friends. CoreLife to the rescue with vegan, vegetarian, paleo, gluten-free, low-carb options super fast in your hands and on the way to the tum tum. I think the staff generally give off a good vibe, and I really like the manager, Marnia, who helped me navigate the wide range of options and introduced me to the sweet Korean BBQ sauce, which I HIGHLY recommend. They make it right in front of u, all the ingredients are made fresh - literally chicken and eggs being cooked on the flat top. Like the food, but a consistently nasty staff member means I won't be back. There's a woman who works behind the counter with shoulder length grey/silver hair pulled into a ponytail who is constantly rude and unpleasant to customers, including me, and I'm just over it. The first couple times I blew it off as lunch rush stress, but yesterday was the final straw for me. There were two women in front of me who had never been into the restaurant and were having trouble understanding the process of ordering. This employee was getting frustrated with their questions, and when she asked about whether or not, they wanted their dressing tossed with the salad, they said they would rather have a different dressing, and what comes with it. Her response to that was, "I DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR DRESSING RIGHT NOW. I JUST NEED TO KNOW IF YOU WANT YOUR SALAD TOSSED IN IT!" the women immediately were taken aback in the smiles left their faces. The staff member threw their stuff together, and then immediately begin preparing carry out orders, while I stood there and waited patiently. They looked busy so after she did a couple of orders and looked up with more receipts in her hand, I wanted to give her a moment to catch up as needed, so I asked her if she was ready or needed a couple more minutes (I wasn't upset or in a hurry at all, so I was trying to give her a little grace). She immediately got snippy, and said to me, "if I wasn't ready to take your order, I wouldn't have asked if I could help you!" I ordered the Thai chicken bowl, but with quinoa instead of noodles, and no bell peppers. This small change really seemed to irk her, and she aggressively prepared my order then tossed the bowl on the counter for the other end to finish it. At this point if I'd had time to go anywhere else I would have. This attitude issue has gone on long enough, and I have to believe that management has an awareness of her attitude because it's clearly an across-the-board situation. I stopped in to check this place out after my workout. It is very clean, organized and the staff was very helpful. Everything there is gluten free and house made. They clearly mark all allergens , as well. The options seem overwhelming at first, so it was suggested that I order a pre crafted bowl as my first experience. A mixture of 3 lemonades was also recommended. I chose the chicken Cobb bowl and a mixture of beet, cranberry and honey lemonade. It was all outstanding. All of the bowl ingredients were so fresh, and perfectly mixed with the right amount of dressing. I never order sweetened drinks, but I highly recommend this combo. Corelife eatery reminds me of a "healthy" version of chipotle. They have more options and variety but you tell them which entree you want and you can customize it from there. I ordered the spicy ginger steak and rice noodle bowl and to my surprise it was actually very flavorful! I loved the vegetables and broth and it was very filling. One thing I didn't love was how spicy the dish was. I'm pretty weak so next time I come I have to ask for light on the spice. They have vegan soups too which I think is really cool. I'm usually not a huge fan of vegan options but I tried both the tomato basil and broccoli cheddar and they were both delicious! We went here for lunch and they had a fairly long line however the parking was easy and they had plenty of seating both inside and outside. This is a fast casual bowl place that has salads, rice bowls, grain bowls, and soup. They no longer make any of their broths in the kitchen and they are now all ordered in, which to me is a large negative. The main reason I enjoy supporting this business is because it is marketed as food made by scratch, but this is no longer true. Paying for natural food but receiving premade bone broths and soups is a huge drawback. Also, if you pay for a regular bowl you get a very small amount of meat. They offer three primary offerings: Vegetarian, Grain, and Broth. I have only been here twice and always get the Southwest Chicken and Purple Rice Bowl. It's a super flavorful bowl that comes with purple rice, antibiotic-free chicken, chopped romaine, avocado, jalapenos, tortilla strips, tomatoes, black beans, scallions, corn, and shredded white cheddar cheese. The large bowl will satisfy a big appetite and costs about $11. Total calories are 590 so a solid option if you are counting. They recommend different dressing with the bowls but I don't usually get one. It tastes great as is and most of the dressings add another 200 plus calories so not worth it for me. I've eaten at CoreLife twice at dinner time. The location is convenient and parking is plentiful. Lots of seating available. However, the food at Corelife Eatery is just ok, nothing delicious. Portions are small. If you're with a group of people, with highly varied tastes, everyone will find something that they can eat. You go through a line where the employees prepare the food in front of you. They were very busy the second time I went, filling online orders. The employees seemed overwhelmed and barely paid any attention to the customers right in front of them. I will not be going back because there are other nearby options. read more

We got some coupons for Corelife in the mail, and since it's so close to the gym, we decided to stop for lunch this weekend after a workout. I liked the space. Behind the counter almost looked like you were in the produce section of a grocery store- it felt very fresh. There are lots of different bowls and ways you can customize them, but thankfully, when I said to just keep everything to how it was listed for my chosen option they stopped asking me questions. Both my Spicy Thai Chicken & Rice Noodle Bowl and my husband's Spicy Ginger Steak & Rice Noodle looked very good, colorful, and fresh. But I was disappointed when I realized in the first bite that the noodles were cold. I guess if the noodles were part of a regular salad I might expect that, but since it was a noodle bowl, I just thought they'd be warm, and they weren't, and it made me sad. The chicken was though, so it sort of warmed up my bowl to room temperature as I mixed it. Also, in both my bowl and my husband's broth bowl, the vegetables were all raw. Again, maybe one would expect this in a salad, but it's weird in a soup or a noodle bowl for things to not be cooked at least slightly. It just felt like they were trying to do so many different things with the same set of ingredients, and that it doesn't work as well for some types of bowls as for others. My husband's steak was also a weirdly soft texture that didn't really even taste like steak. He was not a fan of his bowl. We got a side of maple syrup and bacon brussel sprouts with our coupon, which were ok, but I would have liked them crispier. The staff were friendly, and the drink choices were intriguing (though I only got water). I think CoreLife probably has great salads, but the non-salads we got were less than exciting. read more
