First of all, I can't even try the food to judge it because the customer service at Chaba Thai is extremely poor. I have called 20 times and my sister has called 9 times on her own, but no one has picked up nor responded to our phone calls within the past 20 minutes. According to Google, Chaba Thai opens at 11am. Yelp claims Chaba Thai opens at 7am. Why is not one single employee available to respond to my phone call and take my order? I love this place. They have the best panang curry!! Recently I ventured out and tried the Masamam curry, because it is hard to get anything other than the Panang when I go here. The Masamam was wonderful! I also really like their Thai tea, that is one that has grown on me though. The service here is usually pretty good, but they can get really busy and that sometimes means you wait an hour for your food. Food: -Spring Rolls: Four rolls cut up into halves. These were ok with a it of a brown burn on the ends of the rolls. -Green curry with pork (medium heat): This comes in a large serving with a large bowl of rice. The curry comes in a large plate with the bamboo shoots and other vegetables in a circular pile in the middle. I don't understand why this dish comes in a plate because it's hard to scoop out the soup of the curry. The pork was a bit chewy. Overall, this green curry was not like other green curries I've tried and I was only able to eat 25% and took the rest home and ate it when I was really hungry. Service: There was only one woman working the tables (who I think is the owner). She is so sweet, but really needs help for a busy Saturday evening. It wasn't clear whether we were supposed to seat ourselves since no one was there to greet us, and it seemed to confused many patrons after us as well. Service is pretty fast. The waitress gets to your table and gets your drink order and brings them out in just a couple minutes before taking your order. We ordered the shrimp and scallops chefs special and the large appetizer sampler plate. The appetizers were great. The crab rangoon was especially memorable as the filling was smooth and had hint of thai curry in it. I wish I could say the same for the seafood dish. The scallops and shrimp were quite large but the sauce was too sweet. It was leaning towards cheap chinese sesame chicken sweet than the traditional sweet and hot I'm used to with thai food. The seafood was well done, the scallops seared perfectly, but the sauce set back the whole dish. We had coconut ice cream which is pretty good afterward and it made up a little for the main dish. Overall the atmosphere is nice, the staff friendly, service is quite fast, and the food is mostly good. read more

I typically love this spot, but they aren't the best at cleanliness. The owner/server was visibly sick at my most recent visit. She wound up giving me her flu. I only had a couple bites because I was afraid, but it got me anyway. In all honesty I have never seen the staff perform any hand washing or hand sanitizing during any of my visits in 10 years. I knew it was her who spread it to me, because I was 100 percent fine and she was my only outside contact that day. Dear Owners, If you are sick, do not serve customers or cook. STAY HOME! I had the Thai Spaghetti with beef today for dinner. The noodles itself were very delicious and flavorful. The zucchini and broccoli were cooked perfectly and had a nice crunch to them. The beef however wasn't good. It was very dry and over cooked. The pieces of meat would crumble in my mouth and had the texture of what you would think eating paper would be like. This was the first time I had this dish so I am not sure if the meat is always this dry. Other then the beef, the Thai Spaghetti dish was very yummy and was priced well. read more

We came at 4pm for our breakfast to kick off the day. We were in need of a lot of nutrition from popping and locking all night long. We ordered spring rolls, crab rangoons, and the most flavorful spicy basil fried rice w/ chicken. If y'all want chicken this is the place to be. I was skeptical of going here due to the reviews but I realized that Albert was a liar and should be reported. He must have a deal with Bai Tong Thai restaurant and be an undercover criminal of sabotage. Full of mischief that man!!!!! Very not kind Al!!! AL IS NOT MY PAL!!! I ordered my normal dish of drunken noodles w/ spice. Normally, the restaurants that I've been to in the past don't know how to do spice, but wow, this place surely did! I was sweating from the heat that they put in. It was really good, however next time I may actually try their regular drunken noodle dish instead of going for the extra spice. The noodles were cooked quite well, and the chicken was as well (not dry at all) My buddy ordered a teriyaki chicken dish, however it came out pretty poor. .. Not much flavor of teriyaki, and had an excess amount of vegetables (not enough chicken). The food was mediocre, the service is SO slow. I came with a group. Most of us didn't get glass of water and those of us that did- there was no ice in the water. After ordering, the food took forever to arrive. They must be functioning with one chef or something. I found that I didn't have utensils to eat with so I asked three times for a fork. THREE TIMES! Chaba Thai is quiet. Oh, the food is very good. Some of the best Thai I've eaten on the far north side of Atlanta (though Rice in Roswell remains my all-time favorite). The presentation is never outlandish, always lovely, usually involving vegetables carved into flowers. Even the pad thai -- the stand-by dish of any Thai restaurant -- is given all the attention that would be due a chef's specialty. Their pad thai feels like comfort food. Because it is. Did I mention already how quiet Chaba Thai is? Sure, they've got some music piped in. The other night it was nothing but AM Gold favorites from the late 70s. Stephen Bishop's "It Might Be You" came on somewhere between the hot pot and the main meal. About the hot pot. You must order it. Their coconut chicken soup is perfectly fine in a cup or bowl, but the hot pot presentation is fantastic. From a practical perspective, the flaming metal bowl contraption keeps your soup hot. But then there's the element of implied (but not very actual) danger once the flame starts to pop, sending the occasional spark up and out of the center. Another thing ... Don't be distracted by the specials board by the door. You'll find the exact same listing of dishes in your printed menu. I'm not sure why ... perhaps the specials were so often requested that they became regular dishes. Perhaps there are customers who want only dishes that believe to be as different as the unique snowflakes they are. Or maybe Chaba Thai lost the their eraser months back and have been too busy making good food to replace it. Quiet. Comforting. Rarely busy. And the food is good. A decent Thai food option located in the busy Regal Cinemas shopping center. This place has unique items adorning the walls and a tree in the restaurant. The menu items have decent options that will satisfy all of your Thai cravings. There is one thing that stands out on my two experiences dining here: they are severely understaffed here. Each time I have been it was the same server...working entirely by herself on the floor. She was seating people, taking orders, delivering food, ringing people out, and bussing the tables. As you can imagine for a restaurant with 20 or so tables, that her job is impossible to complete on her own. This is hands down the best Thai place in the area (in my opinion) the Penang curry is always on point and I've never had a meal here I didn't enjoy. Great location right next to Regal Medlock Crossing, which makes this a great dinner and a movie spot for date night. Been here twice over the past three months, after having it suggested to me for business lunches. Food - not the be Thai around, even in this part of Atlanta (I prefer Lon U). I had read other reviews on Yelp; people complained about bland flavors and dishes that were hard to differentiate from one another and I had to agree with them. Decor/Atmosphere - small dining room, nicely decorated. Service - prompt and food came out hot and quick. Summary - I'm not sure why this place is always packed at lunch, but I feel like people are thankful to try Thai that fits the more tame American palate. Chaba Thai has always been a good place to go for lunch if I'm close to the area. Especially if I'm lunching with coworkers or old colleagues. One of my favorite Thai dishes is always green curry chicken. I got it this time around "extra hot." Trust me, the tears streaming down my cheeks were tears of happiness and not because I'm weak. It got a little unbearable, but that's how I like my spicy food: cry-so-good hot. The family that owns this restaurant is incredibly sweet and attentive. Lunch specials are always a good deal considering you also get a soup. I was on the search for Pho but every place I passed by (3 restaurants) were closed on Mondays - is there something that I need to know about Mondays and Vietnamese people? Everything we had was good, Thai Tea, the Pad Se Ew, Pad Thai, and cat fish. And yes, it did come with a side of steamed rice - jasmin rice, otherwise my pops wouldn't have asked for more - old Asian men don't do Uncle Ben's rice very well. I good have gone with a little more flavoring in the coconut milk, it just seemed to be missing that kick in the end, but it wasn't too bad. I think it was good for my sister, who has never had it before to taste. The Panang Curry was different from what I was used to - not bad, but it was different - however, I don't think I'd be ordering that again in the future. One of the tables there, seemed to have been regulars because they asked for the chef and ended up giving her a present - speaks volumes to me for her to go out and by a gift for this chef. (Unless there were other reasons, but, I'd like to believe it's because of the food) Overall - give it a try. It may look pretty average from the outside but inside they serve some amazing food. It's a traditional Thai resturant but it's my favorite place. I go here consistently with friends anytime I'm in town and crave it constantly when I'm away at school. Very polite waiting staff but usually they only have one server for the dinner rush. That one waitress always works so hard but you'll probably still be waiting on her so if you don't have a high patience for stuff like that, be warned. This is coming from someone who rarely seasons her food when she cooks and still enjoys the meal. Don't get me wrong, I still finished everything I ordered, but when I visit a Thai restaurant for dinner, I expect bold flavors. First I must say that I gave this place 4 stars only because I had only slightly better Pad Thai at a place in Michigan once. Other than that I would rate it a 5. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and warm with a big tree in the center covered in lights. It's not a large place, but it's one of those out of the way secrets that isn't usually too busy but the food is always excellent. The service is A+ and the settings are nice enough for first daters or a semi-special night out. I used to frequent this place quite a bit. They always remembered me and were very attentive and pleasant. The food is fresh and adorned with hand cut flowers made of various produce such as beets and oranges. I believe they still do this, although I haven't been there in a couple months. Of course Pad Thai is what most people are most familiar with, and you won't be disappointed here. They make a fine Pad Thai. I would encourage all Thai newcomers to stretch out and try something new while you're there. I've had quite a few offerings off their menu and all have been delicious to my taste. I did at one point take a Thai friend there and she said that it was very good as well. I guess that's a review in itself, but I've never been to Thailand so I can't authenticate fully. It just tastes fresh, good and prepared with care as well as a nice presentation at a modest price. I took a chance. Scanned the parking lot, and the cars were parked in front of this place. On walking up, there was an asian couple leaving, and many more seated inside. Smells of delightful curries and sauces waft around the dining room. This place gets coolness poiints just for their decor! And when my Masamam Curry came to the table, they get extra points for the heaping piles of veggies on my plate!! I ordered "medium" spiicy and it was perfect. My first experience will be my last. The lady neglected to tell me that they do not offer lunch during the weekend and offered me a lunch menu. I was existing not only lunch process, but the soup that came with said lunch. I ordered two entrees and instead of telling me that Is be getting dinner entrees with no soup (during the 15 minutes while I waited) she only addressed the issue after I questioned the bill and asked why the soups were missing from my order. I guess only lunch comes with the jasmine rice that's on their menu, because this is some cheap uncle ben's rice. Completely overpriced. There's no reason to go here as you can go to another Thai place closeby without getting bamboozled (and fed crappy rice). read more
