I like the location; inside the retail district where Regal 18 movie theatre is located. They are on the same side as the Starbucks. There is a "pull hard" sign on the door stating that it is heavy but it's not or I am just super strong because it flung open for me. The food is good. Egg rolls, Crab Ragoon, Miso Soup for lunch and Basil Fried Rice, no meat, less spicy. The service is okay. She took the time to sit and eat lunch herself while we dined so we had to wait a few moments to get her attention. She sat in the back but faced the door to lookout for new customers coming in and check on us so that was good I guess. Hey, entrepreneurship; I get it. There's a reason this place is the most recommended Thai place in Johns Creek! I came here with my family and we were seated right away. For appetizer we went with the chicken curry puffs which were tasty however I wish their was more chicken in them because it felt like I was eating only the puff. For the main course we went with Basil Fried Rice, Panang Curry, Massaman Curry and Garlic chicken. Each of these came with a vegetable soup which tasted really good because it had a clear broth with some veggies and tofu. The basil fried rice was my favorite dish and by far was the best one I have ever tried. The curries also were very flavorful with a good amount of spice. We have no complaints and give them five stars all the way. Before COVID, I had always wanted to eat at Chaba Thai, though I was never in the shopping center when they were open it seemed. They were most certainly worth pursuing via to-go from GrubHub! The employees were incredibly welcoming and friendly. We had the Steamed Dumplings as a shared appetizer. I was very excited to try them since they use ground chicken! We both loved the dumplings and recommend them - even the dipping sauce was great (and thicker than the traditional kind we're use to receiving). My dining companion had the Coconut Soup with Chicken, the Amazing Dinner with Beef and a Thai Iced Coffee to drink. I am told the soup was excellent and made correctly. If he absolutely had to point out something to change, he might want a little bit more lemongrass. The beef was tender, the broccoli was steamed and the peanut sauce was delicious. He would definitely order it again and not change a thing. The Thai coffee was good and very typical of a Thai restaurant. Normally my go-to with Thai cuisine is Green Curry, so I decided to be slightly different and order the Garden Vegetables with Tofu. I ordered it without onion (due to an allergy), carrots (I don't care for them) and celery (simply because I wasn't in the mood). I found a few pieces of celery in my food, which honestly wasn't a big deal. I added Extra Hot Sauce, which came on the side in two, small containers. I have yet to find anything I consider to be "spicy" but the flavor of it was amazing! My Thai Iced Tea was a perfect compliment to my meal and I loved the strength of the tea! Literally my favorite Thai restaurant. The yellow curry chicken is absolutely amazing, and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommend.

I ordered takeout from here and had a rather large order. It took an hour or so to be ready, but the quality was amazing. The portion sizes are generous, so you can get a couple dishes and share with a group. The pad Thai wasn't too sweet which was great. My family is a huge fan of all of the curries and their basil fried rice. I recommend trying their Thai iced coffee and their Thai tea as well! read more

I don't agree with people who said food was bland, it def was not. Chaba thai is a small sized restaurant located right opposite to Regal movie theater. The place was not crowded for a saturday noon. But don't let that doubt the food! I've ordered Chicken Satay, Massaman curry with chicken and Pad prik with chicken. All the dishes arrived hot, they were flavorful and fresh. Positive: The HOT spice level was def spicy (not complaining, this is actually hard to find in westernized thai restaurants these days). The entrees came with a bowl of rice, which is quiet enough to serve 2 people. Negatives: Way too many veggies than meat. There was only one server and the service could have been way better. It's an average sub par Thai food place. Service is good but there is long wait. We were there for dinner on Friday night and all 10+ tables were occupied at one point and only one person was serving. Mind you long que for take out food was adding delay to the order. Menu is standard & predictable, bit reliable too but missing the mark. Being vegetarian we ordered most of the dishes with Tofu substitute and that fried tofu was stiff, chewy almost non palatable. Flavors were on decent for most dishes. We ordered Drunken noodles, kids noodles, pineapple fried rice, Penang curry and messman curry. Starter coconut soup was excellent in taste. This is my first ever Yelp review. I have eaten at Chaba Thai before and it was good - not excellent but good. I was outside today - Wednesday April 26, 2023 at 11:00 when they "open". At 11:06 AM someone let me in. I ordered the Massaman curry with 2x extra shrimp medium spicy. I asked for "6-7 out of 10" spiciness - to go. I got home to find the blandest curry ever! No curry taste, and barely a hint of spice. I called the manager and she told me they had to make a "new batch" of curry. I told her to go taste it and throw it out so no other customers would have it. All she said is "I'm sorry". No offer to bring it back or anything. I will not be going back again. I'd rather go out of my way to Thai Basil where the food is always amazing. Lesson learned! read more

We came back after 5 yrs hanging moved to Fl and was so happy to find our favorite Thai place is still serving up fantastic food. We'd been coming to Chaba Thai for about 14yrs and this place was always our go to. A humble traditional atmosphere paired with quick attentive service make the food all the better. Chaba Thai is a very popular Thai restaurant located in the Medlock Cinema where State Bridge road and Medlock meet. This place is gets packed at lunch time so try to come at a reasonable amount of time if you don't want to have to wait to get a table. The restaurant itself isn't too big. You could probably seat close to 20-30 people at best. The menu includes staples of moat Thai cuisine like curries, pad Thai, drunken noodle, coconut soups, and basil fried rice to name a few. The service here is alright. They do a good job of serving and accommodating your needs, but help can be sparce on busy days as I have seen. The food is great though if you compare it to the competition of the other Thai places in the area. All their dishes pack tons of flavor and spice. Man this place will put your mouth on fire if you ask for a spice level above you usual levels. Got to step up my spice game! Overall, this is one of my favorite spots for lunch and I would go here a lot more often if there wasn't such variety of restaurant choices to choose from in the area. I woudl recommend this place to anyone in the area if they wanted to grab some good Thai food or even some after a movie since the theater is in the same shopping center. So sad that another restaurant is declining. They no longer answer their phones for pick up (online order only and then "don't see the orders") and unfortunately cannot support inside service and pick ups. Portions are a fraction of what they used to be. We have tried to give so many chances because once upon a time the service was friendly, food was delicious and you could pick up or dine in just as quickly. We LOVE Thai food and have been to several different ones. This one has been my favorite for a while now. Their lunch specials are reasonably priced and they come with a delicious veggie/tofu soup (I know that doesn't sound super exciting, but it's one of our favorite things). I have tried the yellow, green, and Massaman curry, and they're all delicious. The potatoes are cooked perfectly every time - they're almost buttery and creamy. I also love the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles). My only wish is that I could get sticky rice to go with my curry, but it hasn't stopped me from loving this place! read more

I really wanted this to be a good experience. The restaurant is cute, with an indoor yellow tree. The staff is nice and the service is prompt. But, I just...can't. The food is so bland and flavorless I imagine it would be hard to cook food this bad. The coconut soup that comes with soup is bland, and for some reason very sweet where it should be sour (with fish sauce and/or vinegar). Every item that comes with the Penang curry is completely bland, and the flavor of the curry itself is light and ill defined. And you guessed it ... weirdly sweet. Then there was the hot basil dish. Again, a completely flavorless dish that had an offputting sauce. Over cooked everything 1 beef, chicken, shrimp that is flavorless and tastes like cardboard. I suspect all the ingredients are precooked and have been sitting around for a while in the kitchen. I have a few suggestions. First, the chef should taste the food. Second, you should have flavor in your food. Third, please try to make your food taste like Thai food. read more

However the soup base was very watery (used to a little thicker soup) and the coconut soup taste was watered down. Not my cup of tea, personally. Chicken pad Thai - the rice noodles were cooked just right! The chicken was moist as our server promised. But the pad Thai sauce was not strong. So basically it didn't taste like anything. I used the chili sauce to make it spicy and give it some flavor. Drunken noodles w/shrimp - similar to the other dishes, everything was cooked just right but the flavors were lacking. On service? The main server was totally nice and really have excellent service. So you won't have any problems there. She's sweet and honest. So loved her. Maybe I got the wrong dish. I typically order pad Thai though as my way of judging a Thai restaurant. Oh! And I'm not positive but the lady seemed like she was of Thai descent, which is good. Chaba Thai is a good option if you're craving Thai food and your schedule includes a movie @ Medlock Crossing. Ambience was nice, and food was pretty good. Except their standard for spicy is a little off. We asked for "medium" spicy and instead got dishes that weren't spicy at all. If you're eating here, I'd recommend asking for "extra" spicy if you want medium spicy, and I guess "extra extra" spicy if you like Thai spicy. Also, I'd probably come just for the weekday lunch specials - you can't beat the $6.50-8.50 price which includes coconut soup & jasmine rice. Like Kit F, we weren't crazy about their coconut soup. It tasted more like coconut-flavored creamer than soup. For entrees, i got the Pad Prik King with chicken for $6.50 - tasty but like I said earlier, disappointingly not spicy at all. My friend got the Pad Kee-mow (drunken noodle), also very tasty but also not spicy at all. Service was friendly but our dishes came out slow. Good option for lunch if you work in the area. read more

First of all, I can't even try the food to judge it because the customer service at Chaba Thai is extremely poor. I have called 20 times and my sister has called 9 times on her own, but no one has picked up nor responded to our phone calls within the past 20 minutes. According to Google, Chaba Thai opens at 11am. Yelp claims Chaba Thai opens at 7am. Why is not one single employee available to respond to my phone call and take my order? This was a terrible first experience/encounter with Chaba Thai. read more
