What a great meal! Super fast service and offers curbside pick up. The fish tacos were my personal favorite, but you can't go wrong everything is delicious! read more

Came here for a casual dinner with a friend. I like that this is off the beaten path in Northeast so I was actually able to get a table for once without feeling overcrowded in a tiny space. It is counter service so you order up front and then the food is brought to your table. I love that they have micheladas so of course I jumped on that opportunity. They also have a decent happy hour deal with $5 margs and sangrias which was very tempting indeed. Had to start out with the usually very underrated queso fundido...a very "healthy" (not) and scrumptious dish to appease even the most ardent of cheese lovers. Of course it was very tasty, but because its a melted dish, it was pretty difficult to pick up with chips after it cooled down so would have liked a pre-warmed dish of some sort. I also ordered barbacoa and carnitas en adobo tacos which were pretty satisfying although fairly standard "street" tacos. Honestly very curious what their brunch has to offer so want to go check it out when I get the chance. read more

Ahh, I do love this place. It's got a warm, welcoming vibe whether you're dressed up or in your shorts and flip flops. Reasonably priced tacos and they have a vegetarian taco with nopales if you're into that. Even if you're not a vegetarian you should give that a try. So much flavor. I can't get enough of their Ensenada style fish taco and I love that they have a kid menu option for a classic ground beef taco without all the fixings, which is exactly what my super picky 9-year old wants. They have house cocktails on tap as well as beers, a full bar, friendly bartenders and bar stools so you can sit and enjoy all these things at the same time. Amazing concept, right? I love the Electric Bunny, a sweet, slightly tart prickly pear and cachaca cocktail that's hard to not suck down quickly. But don't worry, they've got more if you do. read more

My brother and I are visiting the fine city of Minneapolis and are grateful that our AirBnB hosts suggested Centro for "cafeteria-style" Mexican streetfood and craft cocktails. We enjoyed a selection of tacos, the chips & 3 salsas, a local beer, and a boozy guava slushy. All delicious, and priced just right! Try them out, if you haven't already! Followed up by a beer at Indeed Brewery -- just 350 ft away! read more

My friend and I tried this fun new restaurant in northeast. It's set up where you go up and order yourself and take a number. The tacos were generously stuffed and messy. The best taco I tried was the fried fish with coleslaw. I also tried the elote, which was delicious. I loved the classic margarita, it wasn't too sweet. The frozen kombucha drink it tried was interesting, not bad but I would probably stick with the margarita next time. read more

Fun place. Great margaritas. Bartender was a lot of fun as well. My wife and I enjoyed the atmosphere the most. Food was good too.

Very unimpressed. I try everything once in my NE Mpls neighborhood, but I didn't like anything about this place.

We were craving tacos on a Wednesday night and Centro delivered. The combination of the crispy battered fish with the tangy slaw was balanced and flavorful. The shredded beef taco was tender and juicy. The tortillas held up well. read more

I used to love this place, but not so much anymore. The food is good (except the new queso--bring back the delicious baked style), but the absurd mandatory QR code ordering system is so irritating and makes for an unpleasant dining experience. First of all, consolidate your two menus so patrons don't need to toggle between Centro and Vivir. And allow patrons the option to order from a waiter, ask questions, etc. And don't require a 10% fee and tip if the waiters are essentially glorified robots. No customer service! read more

This is my favorite place to get tacos and is becoming my favorite place in the twin cities to grab a bite. The food, staff, and atmosphere is always so delightful. It doesn't get too loud, but it still is a place people seem to gather and enjoy themselves. Their ceviche and fish tacos are amazing! Always very clean as well. This place is awesome and I 100% recommend it!!! Come at lunch time for their $10 deal! It's a steal! read more

Such a fun vibe! Loved the patio with the huge mural. Thought the tacos were tasty and the selection was large, however the price is pretty steep ($4/taco). The sangria was so sweet and delicious I could've drank them all night. Def would be a fun place to go with a group of friends or on a casual date. Hoping to try it's grown up neighbor Popol Vuh soon! read more

The place is lovely and the service is great. Food prices are about the same as beach front restaurants where I live in San Diego. I was pretty disappointed to pay $13 for a well margarita that came from a tap, not even made fresh. The duck tacos were delicious! But was a bit disappointed to pay $4.50 for black beans that didn't even have cheese lol. This restaurant would be right at home in Pacific Beach, but it's a bit silly for Minneapolis. They also tack on at extra 10% that isn't included in menu prices for some reason so keep that in mind. read more

Visited for brunch on a Sunday and really enjoyed our visit! We stopped in around 1pm - and it was fairly empty so really easy to grab a table for 6 (you order at the counter, seat yourself). We tried the huevos rancheros, 3 tacos, chips/salsa and two beers and it came out to ~$50. Everything we had was super flavorful and came out speedy and hot. They are super generous with the toppings on the tacos so $3-5 felt like a great value. We really enjoyed the various salsas as well - they had a good range of flavors and heat. We did have a few in our group that wanted items off the non-brunch menu - but they wouldn't allow us to order off of it until after 2:15pm, which was a bit of a bummer. Definitely would like to visit again and try some of the non-brunch items! read more

Sunday brunch..got there at 10am when they opened. By 10:30 they were packed. Great staff, food, atmosphere. Laid back and fun. The breakfast burrito was fantastic! Tacos were good to great. The only miss os the over the top Guava Glaze Cinnamon Roll that tasted like bread pudding with about an inch of pink glittery frosting. (So odd on its own, more so odd at a Mexican restaurant.) read more

This restaurant reminded me of a Burger King. It has that much ambience. We waited forever for someone to take our cocktail order. Bartender with John Lennon glasses was SO obviously hostile to anyone who wasn't a white straight Oh, and the food was incredibly bland. Everything tasted the same. The salsas were bland. The drinks mediocre. read more

As a new transplant from Southern California I was super excited to see Centro boast the Mexican flavors from SoCal that I so dearly miss. My boyfriend and I ordered 1 of every taco on the menu (minus the nopales), tortilla soup, enchiladas and chips and salsa. We both bit each taco and concluded that not one of them was worth finishing. We thought that some of the meats weren't fully cooked and some flavors were completely off. The tortilla soup lacked flavor but the chips and salsa were really tasty. The highlight of this trip was the prickly pear frozen margarita! I had three! Will continue on my search for some authentic Mexican food in MN! read more

Their tortilla soup has the perfect level of spice and flavor. Yum! I also loved both the Tonga and the Cachetes y Lengua taco. The vibe is just as good for a group of friends as it is for solo boss babe who just moved to Mpls and doesn't know anyone. It's a good place to chill solo read more

If you are looking for authentic Mexican, this is definitely not the place to go. There weren't many options for food besides tacos and the tacos were very small and overpriced. Other than that, the food tasted good and the vibe was cool. It was also very easy to order through the QR code. All in all, this place is more for happy hour/snacking, rather than a place to really chow down for a meal. If you happen to end up going, I recommend the yuca fries! read more

The staff are good at greeting you and directing you on seating yourself. The place has a nice blend of decor. Personally I absolutely hate the QR code ordering. It takes forever to scroll through the various categories. And often going back to the thing that sounded best is frustrating to locate. Just print a menu for gods sake. There is an automatic 10% fee added that is not a gratuity. I guess I don't know how I feel about tipping - you seat yourself, you order yourself and nobody interacts with you after that. The portions seem incredibly small - tacos barely bigger than the lime wedge. I realize street tacos aren't huge, but still that's $10 for about 4 bites. Looks like it has potential but I won't be back unless things change. read more

Amazing drinks, great atmosphere and delicious food. The oysters are also great, love this spot!

Generally I'm not big into paying higher prices for Latin American food. To me, it is food that is made with love and care, and when it is made fancier it loses that soul. Centro At Popol Vuh though is an exception to that rule. This is pretty much a taco bar. They have some limited other choices, but really you are coming here to stuff yourself with tacos (or Oysters that my husband and friend were raving about all night). The tacos are very much street style tacos, not the tacos that most Americans think of (hard shells stuffed with a bunch of crap). These are small, palm sized tacos, that highlight the main ingredient with simple toppings. We had at least one of each taco. They were all solid hits for us. The drinks were also good. Again, a very simple drink menu, but it really does a good job by being simple. We ended up getting two pitchers of the margaritas on tap, which were quite enjoyable. The ambiance is upscale, maybe a little hipster taco bar like. It is definitely a fun and energized space. The biggest qualm I have with it is the seating. It is a pain when you have to order somewhere then find seating. We got beat to tables many times by groups of two when we were a group of four. Definitely a place I will check out again. 25/100 read more

Centro is a tasty and hip Mexican eatery with an energetic, bar-like ambiance. We came for a Friday lunch, and it felt like a casual Happy Hour kind of place. Tacos were good, the guacamole hit the spot, and the margaritas were affordable enough. We had some ordering challenges using the online system, but we got all our food eventually. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the food came quickly, once we figured out how to place the order. Overall a fun place to catch up and hang out with friends and enjoy some tacos, enchiladas, and/or chips & guac. read more

Ahhh-mazing from start to finish! Came here for happy hour today and I loved everything! Let me start w hh drinks.. $5 margarita $5 sangria and $$ of taps. $4 tacos... seems steep for a taco, but I assure you.. there more meat than you think so go slow iron man! I had the beef cheek/ tongue, and pollo something... not masala... and my hubs has chicken tinga and barbacoa and we were both thrilled. Amazing! Fun upbeat and easy. This is always a happening spot! This is an order-at-the-counter spot but they bring your food and drinks out to you. Their menu is small it's mostly tacos but they are mostly* all delicious. My favorite is the chicken tinga! They also have some unique** cocktails and margaritas on tap! Their wine list is super limited which is a downside. The atmosphere is a great vibe and they have a huge bar in the middle where you should sit at if you can. (Tip: you can order your food at the bar if you're sitting at the bar without having to wait in the order line (if there is one). They also have brunch which is great! I debated on 3 or 4 stars because: *they only have one vegetarian taco option which is a cactus taco and it was not good. In fact I didn't eat it after one bite. My friend who I was with is vegetarian and she won't be back for the food. Seriously just throw some veggies and beans in a taco and sprinkle some cheese on it. **the tomatillo bloody was honestly the worst drink my boyfriend and I had ever tasted. (In fact he threw up an hour later because he couldn't get the taste out of his mouth!) That being said I do like going to Centro because overall they have great food and cocktails and I love the location. Just get rid of the cactus taco and the tomatillo bloody and replace them with other options please! read more

Hello Tacos! We stopped in ready to eat! We got 5 tacos and a side of papas chinganos. Everything was so good! When you come in you seat yourself, take a look at the menu, and then go up to the counter to order. You give you a number to place on your table and bring the food out to you when it's ready. Everything came out pretty quickly. They have beer, cocktails, and of corse tasty food. I look forward to returning! read more

Such a fun hidden gem in North East! I seriously cannot believe this place doesn't get more hype in the cities. They have a huge menu that is incredibly reasonably priced. Their patio is gorgeous and nicely lit with hanging lights overhead. The inside also has a great atmosphere. They have plenty of tacos and pitchers of margaritas on draft! Truly doesn't get much better than that. Would be such a fun casual date night spot and the perfect place to go out for drinks and some apps with the girls! read more

I am on a quest to find legit street tacos in Minneapolis and this place is the closest I've gotten! Their food menu is smaller but has everything you'd need. It includes chips and dips, tacos, a salad or two, and ceviche. They have a full bar with taps, cans, bottles, cocktails, and even boozy popsicles. Tacos are $4 - $5 each and come in a small boat with two mini flour tortillas filled to the brim with stuffing. I thought $4 - $5 for how much filling they had was a great price! The interior vibe is industrial chic with a TV or two playing soccer, bar seating, a variety of high-top tables, and cafe lights overhead. The bar seats are full service and every other seat is order at the counter then they'll bring your food to you. I went on a Tuesday at 7:30p and there were plenty of open seats. I didn't see any sort of Taco Tuesday special but they did have Happy Hour that ended earlier. read more

Really good tacos. And delicious churros with chocolate if you rather have something sweet. Plus drinks. I think we tried most tacos on the menu: pescando, pollo alla plancha, papas y chorizo, tongue and cheeks, and lamb barbacoa. My favorite by far was the tongue and cheek one. The meat was cooked to fall apart perfection and seasoned exquisitely with pickled onions and a not too spicy, but still kicking salsa. The pollo alla plan ha came in next, thanks to perfectly cooked and tender chicken tight. Barbacoa was more lamb-y than I expected so perfect for the lamb fans, if maybe a bit one note in that the gaminess of the lamb prevails on all the other flavors. The papas and chorizo was heavy on the chorizo and very spicy. I liked it, but it wasn't as special as some of the others. Same thing for the pescado: perfectly good, but not different than many other fish tacos available pretty much anywhere. We also had chips and 3 salsas. And the salsas were good! There was a very fresh, not spicy green sauce with a fresh flavor, and then two toasted salsas one red and one green with more charred notes. And to round it all up: churros. Not the hard as rock variety that is unfortunately all to common, but the crunchy outside and deliciously soft inside with a chocolate dip spiced to perfection to avoid becoming just a sweet on sweet thing. Loved it! read more

We've come here numerous times & love making it a destination for going out to eat. Today, the ceviche was almost too hot to eat. We both ordered enchiladas & normally they are fabulous. They were maybe 90 degrees warm. We let them know & we were brought new that were the same - cold. Not sure what's going on in the kitchen, but it took a bad turn. read more

Best Casual Mexican Restaurant in Minneapolis. Period. After multiple visits here since they opened, we are comfortable in saying all the tacos are great here! I particularly love the Nopales as I am not a huge meat eater, but also enjoy the Pollo a la Plancha. Thank you Centro for being here for us, we SO needed you!!! Please don't change. One thing - better and more bike parking please. We often bike down to your patio and lock up on the fence across the street, the racks in the back have a bit to be desired (and are often full). read more

Visited their socially distanced patio and it really was a well thought out and efficient system! Beyond that, the margaritas and tacos were also fabulous. We went for happy hour so the margarita was on special for $5 which I thought was a good price. The marg wasn't huge, but I will gladly pay $5 for one that tastes fresh and not super sugary. For tacos I got the barbacoa and the fish taco. Both were delish, but the fish taco really stole the show. It was a big crispy fish fillet and it paired great with the slaw and picked onion. I will definitely try hitting up their happy hour again this summer! read more

This place is a great go to on a Friday night! Usually very busy but there are tables with standing room or you can wait to snag a table. Fun cocktails and cheap tacos / appetizers. Unfortunately this place has potential to be great. The customer service is great but the food (tacos) is par level. When requesting additional assistance in their menu none was available. A mistake done on the digital order and the correction was requested, and I was told that they can't make the change. But I am more then welcome to order it again and pay for it. Even though the drink was not touched and the item being requested is less money then the paid item. Salsa has no flavor.
