I ordered the lamb ragu and it was unfortunately pretty mediocre. The lamb itself tasted like the same quality meat you'd get with lamb over rice from a deli or halal cart. The sauce was very bland and the consistency was almost like you'd get from a jar. This took me a long time to comment! My son had just come back from Afghanistan at that time, after having "gone through hell fending off the Taliban". It was such a huge moment for us to have him home at last! He made reservations with this establishment (because of the '5 stars'!) and since it was walking distance from where we live, we decided to go for it. Hubby, me and son went there knowing we'd get a good meal. The server was a young man who easily got upset when my hubby, who has distinct choices on his dish, couldn't quite make up his mind on what to order. He finally settled with the salmon. I have severe allergy to some condiments as well so we had to ask. The server was almost fuming when he finally got our orders since it took us a good 8 mins to make up our mind. My son remained calm the whole time and we just tried to enjoy our time together. We had a horrible experience. Recommended to us by a friend, we were told Cent'Anni was a great restaurant that had freshly made pasta. As it was our date night, we were pretty excited to try something new (we are regulars at an adjacent restaurant). Upon entering, the vibe was cool. A little dark for our tastes, but what can you expect from most modern restaurants. Our waitress, though kind, was quirky and a little awkward when assisting us with what to order. The food... no. My partner is familiar with Italian cuisine and ordered the Ricotta and Chicken pâté crostinis. They were not memorable, and completely lacked flavor. We told our waitress and it seemed like she had an attitude with receiving the feedback. The calamari was alright, but tasted like a sports bar calamari-- which I wouldn't expect from an Italian restaurant. Our main courses were atrocious. We could not even stomach or eat another bite of it. It was odd, both of our entrees were highly recommended by the waitress and seemed to have good reviews on it. I got the Branzino with gnocchi and my partner got the Lamb Tagliatelle. She described her dish as tasting like it came from a can, and not fresh. Mine DEFINITELY did not taste like any sort of Branzino. My gnocchi also was boring. There was no flavor in both, and honestly, if I continued to eat my fish, I would've gotten sick. By that point, we gave our feedback for it to be comped, paid & left. It was disappointing to say the least. My partner, who is very experienced in working in high end restaurants, also noticed there was no chef and no manager on the floor to speak to... on a Friday night. Granted, the place was quite empty which we understand why now. Not sure if it was a bad night, or the lack of leadership translated through the food, but we will not return. While Cent'Anni wouldn't make it into my hypothetical "top" list, the food was very good. We had the "make your own" pasta (gnocchi with wild boar ragu), the rigatoni, and the grilled pork chop. Came here on a Friday night... took temperatures and such. Was excited to try this place because my family had been there before and said that their homemade pasta was good. They have a pretty simple menu with a few specialty pastas and your usual chicken/salmon entree dishes. We ordered the calamari, tomato crostini, and garlic bread. Calamari + crostini were OK, and the garlic bread wasn't great. Would skip these. I ordered the orecchiette but wanted a protein in it - the server said they could add meatballs... so opted for it. I thought it was would come with the pesto sauce plus meatballs but it came in a subpar Ragu sauce... not impressed. I think the meatballs came mixed in the sauce already and they were too lazy or it wasn't possible to just get basic meatballs in pesto (would've been great if I knew that before). The cocktails were not good ... at all. We got sangria, a Paloma and some coconut drink with gin. Everything tasted artificial with cheap liquor. Ended up drinking each cocktail halfway and decided to get beer. So definitely skip the cocktails and get beer instead. As for dessert, our server recommended the "fig" gelato, it wasn't tasty and didn't taste like fig. It tasted more like green tea? Weird but it was dark so maybe it was green tea ice cream. Disappointing. First, in making the cocktails, they appear to simply wave the liquor bottle at the cocktails and then walk away- so weak they tasted like flavoured Pellegrino. Second, the food. Parlous beyond any telling of it. The chicken parmigiana was flattened to a fraction of an inch, then overcooked to jerky consistency, smothered with an acidic tomato sauce with no other distinct flavor- three of us had it and we all agreed that it was not good. A hidden gem is what best defines this restaurant that makes homemade pasta! That's right not from a bag or the freezer, but authentic handmade pasta. While you wait for your amazing food they bring you some fresh bread with olive oil(that has whole olives in it) to dip the bread in. I am a stickler for fresh pasta and when restaurants go the extra mile I love it. I ordered the potato gnocchi with the sage butter sauce. The gnocchi were really good!! Fluffy fluffy fluffy! I mean definitely a must try. The butter sage sauce was okay but I thought it was a bit to thick and didn't compliment the gnocchi as much as it could but it was still excellent. My friend got the tagliatelle pasta with grandma ragu and it had meatballs. It was so so good I wanted to eat his plate and mine. Everything was so fresh and you could tell it was authentic home made pasta. Staff is very friendly...they don't rush you out. Prices are about $14 for fresh pasta and sauce! The interior is very cozy and romantic they even have an outdoor seating terrace area. Was craving pasta and this was the closest place to my location, so I decided to give it a chance. They really need a better system for the host station. My friend & I walked in and there were two people standing their presumably waiting to be sat or acknowledged. Place was pretty packed for a weekday evening. My friend and I patiently waited behind the couple. Not the best choice considering we were in front of the door and people were going in & out. If you moved to the right your on the backs of the people at the bar. There's no moving too far left you'll become apart of the wall decor. After about 10 minutes a guy came to seat the party in front of us. 5 minutes after that we were seated. He wasn't the most pleasant courteous individual. Especially not the personality you'd expect of a host. When we've been waiting after no acknowledgement for 15 mins. Our server was kind enough. Really weird exchanges but he gets a B for effort. We ordered the mussels appetizers. They weren't the best mussels I've ever had, they weren't the worst. I ordered the pappardelle with lamb ragú. It was decent. My biggest complaint is that the pappardelle was stuck together in certain areas and those pieces were undercooked. The chef didn't stir enough when it was boiling or made sure the pieces weren't stuck together before doing so. I can't remember the first dish my fried got she didn't like it. They were a good sport about taking it back. She replaced it with the tagliatelle with wild boar ragú which she liked much better. The garlic bread was an after thought. Looked like hero bread they sliced down the middle and brushed with garlic oil and over toasted, some pieces were actually burnt. Wasn't worth it. I lost my phone and thus lost the pictures otherwise I would show proof. The seating was the worst part. So cramped and loud. We were sitting between two tables and to go to the bathroom the guest on our left side had to get up for me to pass and then when I returned. I had to do the same for the party sitting on my right. I entered the restaurant to pick up my order and the blond woman at the desk immediately assumed I was a delivery driver. I'm Black, had my curly hair out and was wearing a sweatpants set. I was honestly shocked by her bias. In 2024, it is unacceptable to subject customers to these kinds of micro aggressions. I left with my pasta in hand and a pit in my stomach. I've ordered take out from this restaurant a handful of times in the past and have always been pleased. The food doesn't take very long to arrive and it's so good. Finally got to eat at the restaurant, the back patio was open and we immediately sat outside. The restaurant is welcoming, warm, quaint and casual. We ordered Rigatoni (grandma's recipe of slow cooked ragu with meatballs & italian sausage) and Salmon (pan seared with lemon, capers, sage, split string beans & extra virgin olive oil). When I tell you this salmon was the absolute best I've had in for sure the last couple years. My goodness it was cooked to perfection. Every bite was mouth watering. Thinking about that dish is already making my mouth water and it's only 8:46AM! I tasted the Rigatoni very quickly since the plate was completely cleared off by the time I had a chance to look back up to ask for another bite lol. Couldn't have been too bad. I've lived in the neighborhood for over ten years and finally stopped in for the first time for dinner. The food was good, not mind blowing. The service could use a little work. The back area of the restaurant was completely empty when we arrived at 6 PM. My friend and I asked if we could be seated at a booth, but the host told us booths were reserved for parties of three or more. Less than five minutes after we were seated, I watched the host seat a party of two at a booth right behind us. Perplexing. Our waiter was incredibly kind, though the food runner/busser kept asking if he could take plates away while both of us were clearly still eating. Not sure I'd rush back here. They asked if I wanted it wrapped to go ( didn't finish it- we had ordered so many appetizers!) They wrapped it up. I forgot it. Called from a few blocks away. They said they have it and would leave it until I came back. I came right back. They informed me they'd thrown it out. No biggie, but come on!! The garden was lovely. My group was there by 6:30. Happy hour is until 7:00...at the bar or any table....inside the restaurant! Again, come on!! I understand if happy hour is only @ the bar, but if you have it for dining too, it really sucks to have it not count for people willing to get mosquito bites (the garden wasn't even 1/2 full). Visited here on a Friday evening, SUPER busy. If you want to make reservations for a Friday night, try doing so early in the week, however walkins are welcomed but you'll be waiting a good hour or so. Depending on the tone you arrive.The greeter was super friendly which set the tone nicely but our waiter was not so much. She was annoyed with questions about happy hour, I'm A female that likes fruity and none was on the happy hour menu, just asking for suggestions was too much for her. She told us she'll be back when we are ready. Ok whatever . On the other hand I must say the food was delicious and came out super fast! This restaurant showed they are prepared and equipped to handle big crowds, super impressive. This restaurant fulfills its intended purpose 100%. Great outside seating area in the back, service is good, wine list has everything you need. Grandma's ragu had me wanting to lick the plate. If you ask for ricotta on the side they'll give you some - that's pretty awesome. Bruschettas were all great and the calamari was prepared well. This place is amazing. I'm very sad we didn't try it sooner - we'll be returning a lot. Excellent versions of red sauce standards (chicken parm, chicken francese, eggplant parm) and HUGE portions (it was literally three full meals' worth of food). But it's not only red sauce standards! Also had a great pesto orecchiette with green beans that was delicious. Very reasonable prices, and a really comfortable atmosphere (nice booths in the back if you're a booth person). My boyfriend & I came for our anniversary dinner. We sat out on the backyard patio, which was FREEZING. The overhead heaters were on but you really couldn't tell. It got even colder once other diners left, due to the lack of body heat I'm assuming. We couldn't even take our coats off. I had a dress on so I had to put my scarf over my legs so they wouldnt freeze. When we tried to order, they didn't have the branzino that I wanted, the server said that they had just run out (), so I had to settle for the lamb ragu. My boyfriend ordered the same. It was *okay*. Our server didn't really check on us after she delivered our food, not even when we were finished. My boyfriend had to go into the restaurant to find her. Such an amazing find! My wife and I were looking to do brunch in the neighborhood. Our usual spot had no tables, so we went out exploring, and we were so glad we did! $5 Brunch cocktails with a long list of entree choices, ranging from the classic Pancakes and French toast, to more unique options like eggs poaches in their house Ragu. High school graduation. 14 people. No prior reservation until about 11:30 am. My brother checked on his phone for nearby restaurants and found this. He called and he estimated the time we would be there. They had room out back so he made the reservation. Once we got there we were shown out back where they had 7 2 tops together for us. They have retracting tents so you can get shade upon request (no not that kind of shade). We were given menus including drink menus. Many of us being shown to the back noted the location of the restroom since we had been sitting for a few hours. A few of us ordered beverages after iced water was served There was a bottle of water on the table that was cool but no ice. My aunt asked for room temperature water and they brought it for her. Their brunch menu includes sandwiches, frittatas. They gave us the full menu too. My brother ordered some antipasti like grilled vegetables platter, fried calamari with marinara sauce and bruschetta to share. The mixed drinks came out first but since my brother ordered a beer on tap he had to wait since they were in the process of changing the keg. The margaritas were surprisingly well mixed (3 of us ordered them). The tomatoes on the bruschetta tasted very fresh as if just picked. The grilled vegetables includes carrots, eggplant, fennel wedges, and I think zucchini. I ordered spaghetti al limone which is a lemon and parmigiano reggiano cheese sauce. Many pastas with no meat you are given the option to add chicken. I chose to add chicken. When it came to me, I was definitely reminded I was in an Italian restaurant. Abbondanza! I was surprised by the size of the bowl which at certain angles looks smaller than it actually is. The sharp lemony flavor (I love lemony foods) was very big and not too sour for me. It was balanced by the cheese. The chicken was grilled breast meat, nicely charred but not too much. It wasn't dry at all and full of flavor. There was a half of a lemon on the plate which had also been charred so I squeezed on more lemon. The pasta was al dente and definitely finished in the sauce. For dessert, they have various gelatos and sorbets, tiramisu, tartufo and a few others. I stuck with lemons and ordered the lemon sorbet. I felt if I ordered the tiramisu you'd have to wake me up in the subway ride home and I was traveling alone. The sorbet was tart and refreshing on a somewhat warm day. My brother ordered the chocolate cake. When they served it I noticed a sort of burnt smell. He was across from me. He was debating whether to say something but he did eventually. Our server had no problem taking it back and the kitchen replaced it relatively quickly with no problem. He also ordered the panna cotta which he liked. His first time having that. It was a bit after 2 that I think we were almost finished and just trying to relax. It was getting a little more crowded inside. When my brother asked for the bill it was given promptly but they were not exactly rushing us out. Service was excellent. The only issue I recall was the slightly burnt cake. I've seen this place through friends' Instagram stories and I decided to give it a chance. Although I've only seen their brunch items online, I went on a Sunday afternoon hoping to catch the brunch. Prior to this, I ordered the wild mushroom crostini, which honestly was the best part of the meal. As a big fan of mushrooms, I found this little appetizer phenomenal. The only issue I had was that I wish I had more. When I got the Spaghetti al Limone, I was disappointed by the presentation and the amount. It just looked like a bowl of pasta, no additional garnishes or bread to eat with it. It tasted ok, I feel as if I could have made something better to be honest. I was offered parmesan cheese, which I hoped would enhance the flavor, but did not quite do that. I can't remember what my friend ordered, but she wasn't impressed with her entree either. Together, we found out food to be just alright, not bad but did not have us raving about it. This is such a cute restaurant with quite a big backyard outdoor seating area. Every time I order, I kind of kick myself so I should probably stop trying. Their pasta is never more complex than what you could do yourself in the time you wait for the delivery. It's not complex in flavor or ingredients. Their sauces are bland or salty and always liquidy. The bread they provide tastes stale. And the pasta is gummy. I've had the chicken parmigiana (cutlet is razor thin and chewy). I've had the spaghetti and meatballs (meatballs in soupy, bland red sauce). I've had the rigatoni (also soupy bland red sauce but the most reliable item I've had). I just got the spinach tagliatelle chicken Alfredo and that just put me over the edge. Nothing has flavor. The sauce is from a jar (and if it isn't -- shameful), the chicken is rubbery and unseasoned (see pic). This is it for me and Cent'Anni. It's not worth the disappointment. read more
