This place is my sleeper favorite for brunch in the area! Please don't come so I can keep it my secret!! $5 brunch cocktails til 4pm. I'm talking a mimosa that's 95% champs and 5% OJ, not 50% OJ like those "bottomless" places. This place used to be SO good about a year or so ago. However, after dinner last night for the first time in awhile, I was shocked at how significantly the food quality had dropped. 2 out of the 4 pasta dishes we ordered were absolutely tasteless and the other 2 were just average. I ordered the Orecchietti and the pesto sauce, potatoes and string beans in it were so flavorless it was as though no seasoning (basic salt, garlic, pesto) had been added at all. I did two heavy shakes of salt and it was still so bland I decided that it wasn't worth wasting calories over! Our waitress apologized but made up an excuse about how the Orecchietti pasta wasn't made in-house and that I should try one of their handmade pastas. Honestly, it was the sauce that sucked not the pasta, but I went with her suggestion of Grandma's Ragu which was $2 more than the Orecchietti. The Ragu was much better and actually had a taste but it still wasn't the best. I've had the same dish at another local Italian spot, Broccolino, which was much better. And for al fresco Italian dining in the hood, I would recommend Faun over this place. When the bill came, I was surprised to see they charged me for the Ragu. It is fine, I ate about half of it, but a kinder gesture would have been to give it to me on the house or at least not charge me the $2 extra because of the negative experience and inconvenience. Will not be ordering from here again or going back until their food quality and consistency improves significantly. My brother and sister-in-law were visiting and I was actually embarrassed I took them to Cent'Anni (my sister-in-law had some chicken pasta dish that was also blah). Just wanted to let former fans know so they don't make the same mistake of still thinking this place is good because it's not! read more

I cannot believe I spent over $20 on takeout from this place. I ordered the pappardelle with ragu. What I got was thick thick tomato sauce that tasted store bought, zero seasoning and mystery meatballs. Sauce was disgusting and my can of soda was warm upon arrival. I have never had a bad experience here. I do usually stick with the same meal of pasta and a ragu, and I have yet to be disappointed. It's a little pricey, but everything is delicious. Also, sometimes it's a little too dark inside. It's a great go-to meal when you want to dive into a delicious bowl of pasta. read more

I haven't taken to Yelp to write a review in awhile, but here we are -- I ventured into Cent'anni after work, just in time for HH which was ending in 10 min. I was given an awkward look by the bartender upon arrival, as I tried to nudge myself in the last remaining bar stool (only place you can receive HH). I was not given a HH menu, nor informed of such on a I sat down. I only knew of the deal bc I have been into Cent'anni many times for HH, dinner and even a New Year's Day brunch. I was finally able to get the bartender's attention for a glass of wine. Even though he stayed down on the opposite end of the bar most of the remaining time of HH (though he had two new guests at this point where I was sitting), I got his attention and ordered a HH veggie and pesto ball (veggie slider with pesto, 3/5). I tried to give the gentleman my card but again, an awkward interaction happened and he told me that "you don't do that" and that he'd charge me at the end. Fine. I eventually moved into a more-spacious corner and proceeded to order a tequila with lime & water. The bartender came over three times to clarify what I meant by that, and seemed completely baffled that I had even ordered that. The issue escalated when two women loudly chatting next to me started yelling about things they wanted while he was speaking to me. Call it blatant disregard of white privilege or negligence all together, but my bartender immediately started assisting them, thus ignoring me. I even told him at one point to wait on them and I would wait, as they seemed very annoyed that his undivided attention wasn't on them immediately. I'm now very annoyed with both these fellow guests and my bartender // waiter. Then came ordering my actual meal: I always order the same thing at Cent'anni, subbing my potatoes for veggies and adding salmon. When I asked my bartender to read me the list of veggies // seasonal veggies available, he didn't know and went to the kitchen to find out. Upon returning, he told me they were "bamboozled" by my question and only had carrots to offer me in replacement. Cool. When my order came out, the salmon was crispy and over-cooked, the carrots were very undercooked and the pasta all together lacked flavor. At this point I am trying to simply enjoy my peace, eat and leave. When I asked for my check, I was thrown a bill on top of the bar (both before and after paying) without even a look in my direction. On top of that, I was charged $10 extra for my crispy, lackluster salmon. This addition has never been such an exorbitant charge in the multiple times I've been to this restaurant. I'm truly just upset at the customer service all around. I did not tip (though I'm sure there was a comment concerning the fact) and I have lost all appetite to dine at Cent'anni again. This place was great. They say they've been around for 100 years, but their style and menu makes it seem more modern - and very Brooklyn. Old-fashioned wire filament bulbs, brick walls, used-to-be-hipster customers...the quintessential Prospect Park restaurant. The service was quick - when we walked in at 6:30p they gave us a table that was free until the next reservation at 8p. The food was very tasty. They had a specials menu, a traditional menu, and even a make-your-own-pasta dish menu. I got the Rigatoni and my girlfriend got the make-your-own with the papparadelli and Ragu. I also got "Florence's Flower" (or something similarly named drink) which was delicious. Not 5 stars because the sauce had moments of blandness (but the pasta itself was very fresh). But with the great service we received, and the reasonable prices, we were more than content. Mille grazie! read more

This is a great place to come and enjoy some great food. I had the pappardelle lamb ragu and wow the sauce was very smooth and delicious.Also I could tell that the pasta was homemade since it had that nice homemade taste which melted in my mouth.I also had the fried calamari which was very crispy and when I put some marinara sauce on it, all of the flavors just clicked together.The customer service was amazing and I will definitely come back again. read more

This was my first time at this relatively new Italian restaurant in neighborhood. The service was attentive without being overbearing. The food was good but could have been great with just little more seasoning but the gazpacho was perfect (only weird inquiry was whether I wanted my gazpacho hot or cold). We absolutely loved this place. We came in for a quick bite. They had us sit outside under a huge tent. Really cool. Then the girl (she never introduced herself) asked us if we wanted anything else besides water. We said no thank you just a bottle of sparkling water. She kind of made us feel uncomfortable like we should of ordered a drink. But then the food came. I ordered a shaved fennel salad and a wild mushroom crostini. The salad was amazing so I just put the mushrooms on my salad. So so good! My husband got fried calamari it came with a mild spicy marinara sauce. Devious as well. I believe the manager came over to drop off things and we got great vibes from him. Bottom line is that when we go out to the botanical garden in Brooklyn we will definitely be dining here again. read more

This was a nice and cozy Saturday night find in brooklyn. The place is a bit small and they dont take reservations so expect to wait at least 30mins to 1 hour for seating on the weekend. The atmosphere is dark and cozy. The staff is extremely friendly and they have their own build your own pasta option which is always a crowd pleaser and gives everyone the flexibility to enjoy their meal the way they want to! Restaurants keep popping up on Franklin, but Cent'Anni has claimed the title of my recent favorite. I've come twice since they opened--once with my boyfriend and again with a friend. The first time we sat outside and I enjoyed the black ink pasta and he the pork chop. My pasta was amazing--great sauce, great texture, and a huge portion. The pork chop was juicy and well seasoned. They also offer a list of homemade pastas and sauces that you can mix and match. The outside space is crazy big and covered in hanging white lights--perfect for a summertime date. My second time I sat at the bar and had the spaghetti with lemon sauce and many glasses of red wine. You can tell the pasta is homemade--it tastes so fresh. I enjoyed this dish as much as the first and didn't leave any leftovers. The wine list is impressive and includes some well priced by the glass choices. Vibe from the staff is professional and friendly. Both times I visited there was a good amount of people dining and having a good time. I can see Cent'Anni becoming a neighborhood favorite--just the right mix of fancy and laidback. read more

Cent'Anni has great ideas but shaky execution. 1. House made pasta is excellent idea but on two occasions I had pasta over cooked. If you specialize in pasta this shouldn't happen. I love squid ink pasta and there rendition may have impressed me more if cooked al dente. 2. They offer a great mix and match of sauces. While some are good (lamb ragu and mushroom sauce) some others (pesto and grandma's ragu) are bland. Sometimes fresh pepper or cheese would have helped but it's offered inconsistently. (Actually only once was fresh ground pepper offered). They also seem a bit too conservative with the salt. 3.I love the crostini they offer. White bean, pecorino and garlic and caponata are my favorites.I do wish instead of one large piece of bread the offered 2 or 3 smaller pieces. It's easier to share and easier to eat. I think the prices are fair, the service has always been friendly and the atmosphere is nice (maybe a little too dark ). I like it, but would like to love it. read more

We started with the french toast (which was good, albeit inconsistent with some parts burnt & not enough fruit), and wished we stopped there. We also ordered the wild boar ragu tagliatelle (but were given the mediocre pappardelle instead**), potatoes with herbs (simple & good, but no herbs), and a solid eggs benedict. *We called before walking over and were promised no wait, but folks who arrived 20 minutes later were definitely waiting for tables, and those already in created a restroom bottleneck right near our table, which was unfortunate as it was also near the kitchen/pass. **The $2 supplements are coded oddly on the dinner menu, which you need to request explicitly at brunch if you're not near a chalkboard sign on the wall. read more

We made a reservation for the heated back patio, that turned out to be really nice with French Café chairs - cozy but spacious settings for COVID. My dish , Grand ma's ragu , was just that ...grand ma's ragu! It tasted like my grand mother's cooking from the 1970's ( the last time I had her food). The arugula Parmesan prosciutto salad excellent , fried calamari excellent , polenta also excellent . My wife had the fungi with papperdelle and my son had the ink linguine with spicy marinara. Each was delicious and the portions were not over sized. The deserts were outstanding and the coffee , cappuccino , maciotto all wonderful. I highly recommend ! Cent'Anni is a solid 3. I've come here at least a dozen times and love sitting at the bar with a glass of wine. It's one of those places where the ambiance works for just about any occasion: date night, dinner with a friend, or even solo dining. The bummer is that the food is pretty average. They boast a homemade pasta menu with slow-cooked sauces, but the flavors are always pretty flat. Of all the pasta dishes I've tried, which is quite a few, the only one that's actually pretty good is the orecchiette with pesto. I tried the tiramisu the other day which was also pretty unmemorable. I ordered take out and i had an unappetizing penne vodka. I don't know who was cooking tonight or if it's always like that, but it had not one lick of salt, not a gram of prosciutto and very shy with the use of cream. It was depressingly bland. I had to go remake the sauce at home (without prosciutto) luckily I had some ingredients at hand.
