Simply delicious! I loved everything I tried. We had the calamari as our appetizer. It was so well seasoned and delicious. Okay so not only is dinner amazing here, the brunch is fantastic. I'm definitely not a brunch fanatic; the concept seems more like a trendy rebranding of breakfast. But Cent'Anni's really makes it more than just a two breakfast item + three lunch item excursion. Their brunch menu has more dishes on it than probably any other in the neighborhood. Both times I've been I had the organic pancakes with fresh fruit and real maple syrup. The pancakes are so fluffy, so buttery, and so tasty. The fruit consisted of strawberry and banana slices, raspberries, and blackberries. The kir royale I paired it with was lovely. I think I could eat every meal of the rest of my life at Cent'Anni. I've come here for years and live in the neighborhood. And when I didn't live here I'd drive in to bring out of town guests here for delicious and well-priced Italian food set to (my favorite) hip-hop and surrounded by good-vibe humans in an intimate, well-lit space. On my last two visits, I've been greeted by the manager (I believe) earlier in the evening and we have been put off by his demeanor. We felt that our being there was an inconvenience to him - we came just after opening around 5:30/6 and were often one of the few groups there. The hollandaise sauce was delicious and definitely homemade. Came with a side of greens and I ordered a side of bacon. Highly recommend if you're an eggs Benedict lover and want a different take on it. The only thing I wasn't crazy about the sourdough toast it came on. It was good, but there's no other option. I come to this place every time my best friend is visiting from out of town.She was here again last week so we went back for dinner. Unfortunately this time we felt rushed. Our entrees were dropped on the table while I was eating my salad ( which was delicious). The salmon entree tasted as if it was deep fried. I live just blocks away, so I consider it my new neighborhood gem. Basically, food is excellent, esp for the price, as is the service, for the exception of the host. On our way out, instead of being thanked and wished a good rest of our evening, the host was on his phone, slurping a drink. Typical millennial. Only there for a paycheck, zero sense of hospitality. We had an accurate estimated wait time, and a place to sit at the bar while we waited! The patio, adorned with hanging incandescent lighting, off white straw chairs and wire mesh tables lined up in perfect symmetry created the effect of three long banquette tables. We ordered the Shrimp blt and the chicken Parmesan Sandwich. Fresh Green tossed salad accompanied them both. The meat was lightly seasoned but perfectly done. A slight Char on the shrimp made a perfect tan that other overcooked curled shrimp should rightfully be pink with envy. I am already looking forward to my next visit. Stumbled across this place as our first option was closed and the review online seemed decent. This what not how we expected our first time venturing out to experience the new norm of dining given the great reviews online. Cent'Anni is not handling navigating our new dining norms well and we did not feel safe dinning here. Customer service was non existent at this establishment.Here is a glimpse of our experience: Upon arrival our initial encounter with the host was lackluster and unwelcoming, despite that we decided to have a seat. The outdoor dining space was nice, spacious and at the time we arrived it wasn't too crowded,we felt comfortable. Our server who also happened to be the host , took our drink orders , I requested to have my drink places in a disposable cup , his response was "we have them but don't want to give them out because we are trying to save the environment "! I was taken aback by this given that we are in a pandemic there is a deadly virus in our midst and i don't feel comfortable putting my mouth on your glassware! After a few mins of going back and forth he ended up providing the disposable cups that we asked for, which were PLASTIC along With The PLASTIC straw! Great show of how environmentally conscious this establishment is ! We encountered the same experience , when my girlfriend requested her meal to be placed in a disposable plate with disposable utensils, our waiters response was "we frown upon that, as per my manager it will ruin the ambiance of the restaurant" they proceeded to provide my girlfriend with her meal in a to-go plate , and repeatedly ask if she would eat that in the restaurant as that is not "allowed"!? We decided to share our frustration with our server and shared that my friend is immunocompromised and does not feel comfortable using your glassware and silverware! Our servers reply was "oh you should have told us that and we would have accommodated you" !? First and foremost we did not have to disclose any of that information to him or anyone in fact, if I am a paying customer I have the right to decided how and where I want my food especially during these unprecedented times. In addition to the glassware and silverware fiasco, there was a DOG in the restaurant, that barked the entire time. Very Unhygienic and disruptive. We requested to speak to the manager who was not very helpful and super unapologetic. To put the icing on the cake as we wrapped up dinner we decided to hang around a bit to finish our conversation, we were asked to leave as they have "other people coming" !? The food was as lackluster as the service, my friend had the Grilled salmon which lacked seasoning and I ordered the Rigatoni and meatballs, the meatballs were not fresh they were store bought frozen meatballs, the sauce also could have been better. During the end of this horrible experience I asked for the names of our server and the manager to include in this review, they refused to disclose names. Before we left our server tired to apologize and reconcile by comping our salad, we refused , the apology was not sincere , he knew a bad review was coming and tried to save face. I had a drink called cuba which was described as pineappley however I literally had a half of a lime in my drink. It was weird and I tasted no pineapples. We had the fried calamari for an app and it was Bland. I ordered the Rosemary chicken and that was just ok. There was no crust on the chicken it was just like baked chicken. The mashed potatoes were bland. It was edible however unlike my friends dinner. He ordered pasta with grandmas ragu. The pasta tasted rubbery. It didnt taste fresh or have a good texture. The sauce again was Bland. The funniest part was the Mac and cheese which was salty and had a slice of american cheese melted on top of it. I have never seen this at a restaurant. It looked so bad I couldn't help but laugh. The pasta was also over cooked. He unfortunately did not eat his food and we ended up having to get tacos after for him. Fabulous brunch spot. Incredible portion sizes. Great prices and very fun atmosphere. It's loud and good for groups and families. I highly recommend a reservation as brunch here is all the rage. The $5 drinks everyday until 7pm are worth the trip alone. While none of us had the pasta options (and there are many) we tried nearly everything else on the brunch menu. My eggs Ragu were perfectly baked. The sausage and meatballs were melt in your mouth good. I recommend going with a group, getting one of everything and splitting! I can't wait to go back when the weather warms up and we can use the ouutdoor patio in the back.
