I'd probably give the food 4 stars. Everything tasted pretty good. No major complaints there. The service on the other hand is what brings the rating down. Our server, DJ, was...not good to say the least. He never filled our water glasses, which he might have noticed if he ever checked in with us. When we asked for the check he took forever to get it back to us, and when he did we told him we were ready to give him our cards right then. He said "yeah okay" then just walked away. I dont think he ever smiled and was never friendly. I really dont normally care about mediocre service, but this one warranted a review. He probably shouldn't be working in customer service. read more

They have a very very cheap lunch menu ($15 for two items, soup or salad and a sandwich). The entire table ordered the chicken sandwich and another item. The chicken was very very juicy and tender. There was a lot of extra bread but it was toasted nicely. It was a bit unfortunate that the pesto made it soggy in some places. Caesar salad wasn't anything particularly special. We stopped into Cedar + Stone, in search of something a little different. We were seated quickly and had water poured almost immediately. Our server arrived shortly after. We ordered cocktails which were delicious! We also ordered Brussels sprouts as an appetizer. They included pancetta and were perfectly seasoned. Next we enjoyed a Honeycrisp and Cheddar salad with chicken. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the aged cheddar added a great flavor profile to this dish. We followed this with a Cedar + Stone burger which came with truffle fries. The burger was again, cooked perfectly and the truffle fries had so much flavor of their own that ketchup was not necessary. To finish the meal, we had the Butterscotch Bread Pudding which came with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and fresh fruit lightly drizzled with butterscotch sauce. Possibly the best bread pudding we've ever had!! To accompany the dessert, we ordered Royal Tokaji wine, which paired beautifully with the bread pudding. Our server, Dativa, was great in offering recommendations and provided superb service!. The atmosphere was calming and the food was great. The Walleye seemed moist and my Short Rib with Polenta, just fall off the bone perfect and a great option with some of their by the glass wine pairings. I will be back. Waitress was friendly, with good recommendations, but cut us off in the middle of taking our order to address another customer demanding her attention. Regarding the food, the serving size at our table ran from small to oversized, depending on the entree. My biscuits and gravy were just so-so in terms of taste. I eat biscuits and gravy only very rarely, but when I do, I kind of expect to smother the biscuits with the gravy, not have a couple of tablespoons in a ramekin on the side. The biscuits also had a very sweet flavor, which was a little off putting, to me. The heirloom baked potato wedges served as a side where very flavorful and cooked perfectly, though. read more

The reason this isn't a five star is because of a bit of the pretentiousness I experienced when dining there. I went there by myself and asked to sit outside. The hostess said they were all booked, but I could see they were not. They were all tables however, so I'm assuming she didn't want to sit me at a four-person table. When she sat me inside I looked outside and could see about 20 seats open. I asked again if there was any way to squeeze one seat for me. She said a table needed to be cleaned off and it would be 10 to 15 minutes. I said that's fine, called her bluff, and two minutes later she sat me outside. I understand it from a business decision, but still, every customer should be treated equally, especially when you're dropping $30 a meal. I don't share this to be cranky, but in the hopes that management sees this and work to change that mentality. The meal itself was very good. I got the Toasted Walleye, given that it's a traditional Minnesotan fish. It wasn't too flavorful on it's own, but when complimented with the mashed potatoes and fresh cherry tomatoes, it made for a delicious trio. One of those situations where the sum was greater than its individual parts. Probably will try something else if I'm in the area again, but good for a nice swanky dinner. read more

This farm to table restaurant was so good, over priced (minus 1 star) but that's what you get when you go to a hotel restaurant. I had the chicken with potatoes and and it was to die for. This place is really nice looking and larger than you would think. It is attached to a hotel and the mall. I sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and attentive. The food menu has so many great options especially if you are hungry. The restroom was very clean and had hand towels available, so my advice is to use this one instead of the mall restrooms. read more

Love this food it's so delicious, OK and go there when I do self-care at the JW Marriott and it is very convenient to just go there and have breakfast and midnight snacks. One of my sons work in the Mall of America, and sometimes I'll go there and wait for him if I have to pick him up after working at Piada Street Food. Great food at Cedar + Stone, Urban Table tonight BUT our party of 6 plus a child will not be returning to this restaurant. 1) Our Party called a week ago asking if Cedar + Stone, Urban table would take a reservation for 6 adults and one child. We were told yes. We arrived at about 5:50 for a 6 PM reservation. They showed us two tables. When all of our party arrived, the person that made the reservation asked for clarification on why the two tables. We were told it was a state law that only parties of 6 were allowed per table. OK, but why did someone tell us last Wednesday at about 6:30 that we were OK and they accepted our request. So after some conversations, we agreed to stay and just have a table for the youngster and his mom near the rest of us and people moved between the two tables. 2) The food and dessert were great. As we were paying the bill, we asked if we needed parking validated since it has been over 2 hours. The server said, "no problem, it is 3 hours that are free now, so no need to validate". As we are exiting the parking ramp, the kiosk at the exit was asking for another 10 dollars per car. We returned to the host we have been talking to and asked for Validation for an additional 30 minutes that were there. He said it is only two hours of paid parking and they do not own the ramp. Conversations continued, we just wanted our extra time validated. He stepped away and called Fred from Security because he did feel safe speaking with us. The whole conversation was very scripted sounding. He said we just need to go to the exit, put in our ticket, and press the HELP button and they would let us out. I said I am not sure what the problem is with an additional hour with validation, your website https://modules.marriott.com/hotel-restaurants/mspjw-jw-marriott-minneapolis-mall-of-america/cedar-stone-urban-table/5694133/about says "Self-parking is available in the ramp below the hotel with access to Cedar + Stone, Urban Table through the lobby elevator. We suggested some training for staff so we as paying and tipping customers did not receive misinformation. There was some mention of not "feeling safe", so that is why Fred (from security?) was called to stand near the exit of the restaurant while the conversation continued. We were offered an escort, but we said we did not need an escort as long as the HELP button would really take care of the parking extra charges. 3) As were exiting, Fred and his co-worker were waiting in the parking ramp. The Help button was pressed twice and no one was answering so Fred came by with his proximity fob and let us out with no additional parking charges just like the website said we could expect with additional 1-hour validation. Thanks Fred. Great friends, food, dessert, and drinks, but I will not be back there and I think there are 5 other adults that will not be bringing their business to Cedar + Stone, Urban Table in the future. I have mixed reviews on this. Second time eating here. Definitely a 5 star bar. Great collection of drinks, friendly and knowledgeable staff too. They have quite a few higher end bourbons and the like. Found 18 year Stagg for $40 a snort and some of the Weller and Sazerac out of the Antique Collection. Apps - we tried the cheese board and charcuterie. I'm still amazed at how easy it is to do one of these, but how many places just miss the mark. It's not about serving square chunks of cheese on a tray. Where's the good stuff, sliced, almonds, honey, etc. This was just a couple squares of cheese, no explanation this night, and some toast. There was some chutney on there, but was not memorable. The charcuterie was ok, basic salumni and prosciutto, again with the toast. First trip I ordered the walleye and while light in flavor and breading, it lacked some depth and flavor. I only eat walleye in MN and this one was not on the mark. Second trip in I had the short ribs. These are decent and glad I swapped out the potatoes for green beans, it balanced out the meal. It's a decent size hunk of meat for the money and they did a good job here. Dessert we tried the donuts - didn't live up to the hype. This has become a must go to for my trips to Minneapolis. High end contemporary setting with super attentive service is their theme. However the pricing is $$! Great value for that special night out dining. The Minnesota cheddar cornbread and focaccia bread come automatically to the table. Then the main meal is served by men in suits. Our server Ashley had our special lady that was retiring, congratulated by every employee in the restaurant. I got the braised beef over Wisconsin cheese grits. It was delicious and good volume. We finished with sharing the Cedar & Stane doughnuts (actually holes) that melted in your mouth after dipping in a white sauce and a chocolate sauce. Great meal fun night. I've already received the food previously but today I want to discuss the people who make this place exceptional. Our service Daniel was phenomenal. He's a great conversationalist and can almost always knows what we're going to have. He's easy to talk to and is compassionate about his work. To him, this is not a place of work where you clock in and clock out. This is family. It shows in his enthusiasm and excellent service. Our Chef Zabdielle (I know I'm misspelling his name) was amazing. His presentation and preparation are unmatched. His ability to customize an already excellent dish is unheard of. Awesome place inside the mall / JW Marriott got drinks and / or dinner. The mother's day brunch was awesome. Even at $45 a plate plus beverages they had a good mix of what should be at a brunch including seafood, chicken and waffles, omelette and mushroom ravioli. The Sunday bar and fresh fruit and Benedict were bomb too. Solid choice. Whenever my friends stay in this area the other hotel's restaurant was the place I'd meet them but this place is great! The only reason that this is not 5 stars is because they had this saxophone player, that was a little loud for the size of the venue during Mother's Day brunch. Not even a quarter or something just one dude on tenor sax. He was great but took away from the experience rather than added to it. But Mom really liked it and that's the main dish. read more

We were fortunate enough with the perfect weather for our weekend getaway and a late dinner on the patio under the night sky. Such an aesthetic decor and beautiful glass fire pit that gives a luxurious feel. Kid friendly which made the experience even more peaceful after a long day at the mall with a 3 year old. Our waitress "Alyssa" was very positive and accommodating. Her energy was extremely genuine. The manager "Zach" was remarkably welcoming and wanted to make sure we received the best experience. Food was amazing and fit the scenery. Our leftovers had been accidentally thrown out instead of boxed up (which was no problem or inconvenience to us) though both our waitress and the manager made sure we received new dishes to take home. As we waited for our food they allowed us comfort in enjoying the patio and even taking family photos for us.
