The staff seems not to care at all & joke around constantly in front of customers. I've given it enough tries at this point & wont be returning. Ordered a bowl tonight on 7/9/23 9:15pm. Arrived at 9:35 to pickup when it was supposed to be ready at 9:29 & workers were all joking around with eachother & order was not ready. CAVA is a perfect example of a place that you drop into and become converted into a regular. I love Mediterranean cuisine (boatloads of recent health researchers say it helps you live longer), but it doesn't seem to be something that I have a lot of access to. It's a shame that hummus and other "healthy" food seem to be relegated to only a few, not to mention pricey, menus. The first thing I noticed when I walked into this location was the line. I don't say that to deter you - the line moves quickly. But it's rare these days to go into a fast-casual restaurant and have a line. Admittedly from the outside, I thought this would be a sit-down restaurant with service. It's not and that's OK. If anything, that's more than OK. On a weekday at lunch, many guests were popping in for a quick bite either to eat here or take back to their offices. While there are a plethora of "fast food" options where you can do this, it's so nice to have the option with healthier food. At CAVA, you do not have to choose between tasty and healthy. At this Chipotle-style, create-your-own plate system, you can customize your bowl or pita to incorporate all the major food groups. Lean protein from chicken or falafel, carbohydrates from whole grains, healthy fats from dressings, and everything in between. I was a bit overwhelmed with all the ways that you could customize your food here and went with their chef-curated recommendation of the Greek chicken pita. The word that comes to mind is flavor. Mediterranean food can sometimes be dry, but with all the juicy vegetables and dressings, all my worries quickly dissipated. The chicken was nicely seasoned and everything just felt satisfying. Another thing I liked here was the fountain drinks. They offer some drinks from Maine Root as well as some special iced teas. I had the cucumber mint lime and it was delicious. Very similar to the beverage offerings at Modern Market. They even had Diet Mexican cola. Definitely, a place where you could come with a friend and spend some time. I was surprised to learn that CAVA is a chain because it felt mom-and-pop and this location blended into Arcadia quite nicely. As a CAVA mega fan who has always loved their experiences in LA and NYC, it hurts me to say my experience is as mid here because usually the food is top tier. We ordered pickup from the app and after bringing the food home and opening up the containers, both meals looked rather sad. My bowl had about four little burnt pieces of chicken and little of everything else. My friends Bowl only had three meatballs. The portion sizes were tiny but the flavors were still on point. I will definitely give the other location a try but maybe stay clear of this one. Maybe to go orders through the app are just a bad idea as far as amount of food you get goes! Alright friends, I'm hooked! I LOVE mediterranean food of all kinds (It's in my Greek blood) and this quick build-your-own healthy bowl (or pita!) spot is the dreamiest! I went with a bowl and did 1/2 super greens (love the broccoli & brussels in it) with 1/2 saffron basmati rice. For dips, I chose roasted eggplant (AMAZING), tzatziki, and crazy feta (a must). For protein, I did 1/2 chicken and 1/2 sweet potato. For toppings, I added cabbage slaw, persian cucumber, crumbled feta, pickles, tomato + onion salad, kalamata olives, tomato + cucumber salad, and pita crisps. Basically, ALL THE THINGS. Lastly, I topped it with their lemon herb tahini and Greek dressing. I loved this bowl so much that I ate there twice in one week!! I even downloaded their app which I NEVER do for restaurants. A filling but light, healthy and tasty dinner. I found out about Cava in Texas from TikTok and I'm so glad I looked to see if we had one in Phoenix, because we sure do! Cava is a build-your-own Middle Eastern bowl. There are multiple options to choose from for the base, dips, proteins, toppings and dinner. One thing that got my attention is that there were no pork options which made ordering very easy (since we do not eat pork). I ordered two bowls online (the easiest way to order in my opinion). I got two identical grain bowls with saffron basmati rice, hummus, roasted egg plant and Harisa (you can pick up to 3 dips), and grilled meatballs (beef). For toppings, I picked tomato + onion salad, Persian cucumbers, salt brined pickles, pita crisps, shredded romaine and cucumber and tomato salad. All toppings are free and you can add as many as you want. I also chose the lemon herb tahini dressing on the side, which I thought would go pretty well with the food. For drinks, I ordered two blueberry lavenders. Prices are very reasonable. I paid $28.71 for everything. We got this as take out. It's a good 25-30 minutes from Cava to our house. The food was still warm and not soggy when my husband got home. The bowls were delicious. Flavorful and filling, they felt very fresh and tasty. The eggplant dip was made using roasted egg plants, you can taste the delicious char. The cucumbers were crisp and fresh. Rice was mostly fluffy and the meatball tasted very much like kafta, slightly on the dry side but actually tasty. We got free pitas on the side too. The drinks were delicious. Not sweet at all. They tasted like something you would have at a spa! A great win tonight! They would have scored a 5 for sure if the portion was slightly bigger. There was enough beef patties but we felt like they could have added more rice and toppings. Still, for the price we paid and the quality we got, this was a great option. I'm deeply upset. How dare CAVA finally open a location in Phoenix, just before I move away?! I feel personally attacked. BRB while I drown my sorrows in a delicious Mediterranean bowl and some tasty tasty lemonade. Seriously though, I'm obsessed with CAVA. As noted by a number of others, it's like a Mediterranean Chipotle--but it doesn't make your tumtum upset like Chipotle often does. And makes you feel vaguely healthy :) My favorite is the honey harissa chicken (which is an extra charge) but I like their normal chicken a lot too, as well as the roasted veggies and the meatballs. I'm not normally a pickles kinda guy, but their pickled onions are so dang tasty. I love how customizable everything is, how fresh everything always tastes, and that the portions are real hefty. I can usually get at least two meals out of one bowl. I'm a big fan of the cucumber mint lemonade as well. Others have commented on service, but I have only ordered online and picked up so I can't speak to that. Cava is a nice addition to the valley where they offer a fast & healthy food experience. Very similar to chipotle, you go down the line customizing your bowl. All their ingredients are fresh and they have a good selection of meats, greens, and sauces to choose from. Price is fair and it's a great portion. The employees are always really nice and upbeat, but let's face it, the real draw is the menu. I love grain bowls and such, but there aren't usually many (if any) bowls/salads that use Mediterranean ingredients. Some of us want some updated takes on Greek/Mediterranean (in convenient takeout form). I love how many healthy ingredients are on the menu: avocado, hummus, olives, pickled onion, arugula, etc. And you get real portions of them. Most grain bowls get maybe -- *maybe* -- half a handful of whatever veggie you specify. The Mad Greens bowl I get has maybe 6-7 pieces of baby spinach and 3-4 cherry tomatoes. Most of it is just rice. The first time I got a Cava bowl, yeah there was a rice base but the veggies were *really* piled on. And the bowl was surprisingly big. Definitely bigger portions than than Mad Greens or Chipotle. The employees are great about helping to guide you through your options if you want to build your own bowl. But honestly I won't bother with that until I've worked my way through more of the menu options. For fans of the classics, there are things like Greek salad. But I'm focused on all the cool modern options that use Mediterranean ingredients, like the tahini Caesar or, well, most of the grain bowls. Those have some type of meat (lamb, lemon chicken, spicy chicken), but also hummus and various veggies with a tzatziki sauce or spicy lemon vinaigrette. It's genuinely hard to decide what to try. Especially because I also want to try their pita wraps. Falafel or spicy chicken or spicy lamb meatballs in a toasty pita sounds like heaven! Finally CAVA made its way to AZ!! I'm obsessed with this chain and couldn't be happier that the quality, service, and portions are just as good as the locations I've had in SoCal. I got my usual favorite - a greens & grains bowl made with arugula, romaine, brown rice, chicken, and filled up with a variety of toppings, with a free pita on the side of course. CAVA's portions are so massive that it's always worth the price as I'm able to split the bowl into two meals. The layers of flavors and always fresh ingredients hits the spot every single time. Not only was the food insanely good, the staff at this brand new location were also very friendly! I got a complimentary drink for having to wait just a few minutes for the chicken to finish being prepared, not that I minded at all. I chose to mix the blueberry lavender with the lemonade and it was 10/10 refreshing. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is their falafel. I got a side order to try it out and it was dry and flaky. I had heard about this place from people in southern California, so I was excited when I found out there was a location in AZ! A word of warning if you want to stop by on a weekend around brunch time: it's going to be BUSY. The parking lot is small and Hash Kitchen in the same plaza and Cava get very busy around lunch. You're likely going to end up circling around quite a few times to try to snag a spot. There is parking across the street in a less busy plaza but it's annoying to have to park there to walk over, especially if all you're doing is picking up an order. There are a couple of spots reserved for pick up, but even then, it's still hard to get one of those spots unless you get the timing right. The first time I came here was during off peak hours (mid to late afternoon) and there was ample parking. I didn't even know how good I had it! I had to dock a star off my rating because they are so inconsistent with getting getting orders right. I love that the bowls are so customizable, and each ingredient is listed for them to make the bowls. But of the handful of times I've been here, they've gotten my order wrong all but one time! For example, they'll forget an ingredient in the bowl, not include a side piece of pita, don't put dressing on the side, etc. And with my most recent order, the bowl was barely even half full. Very disappointing. That being said, the harissa chicken is so good (costs extra) and the meals are pretty healthy (grains, greens, and protein). It took about 40 mins to get our meal but we really wanted to try it. I got the harissa bowl which was pretty tasty. I swapped the harissa dressing for the lemon tahini so it wouldn't be too spicy and it was good. You can customize your order as much as you want or order one of their preset menu items. We've been ordering delivery from Cava for about 7 months now. While the ingredients are still fresh, diverse, and tasty, some of the other things we have tried have been a bit questionable. The sides are so tiny they're almost not worth ordering. The roasted, eggplant, while tasty, was about $4 for a heaping tablespoon. The most basic hummus was nearly $4 for the same portion. This afternoon, I visited the cava on 44th St. and Indian school Road in Phoenix, Arizona for lunch. I love the food at cava, but I have had many disappointing experiences at this particular location. Most notably, this recent visit. I was assisted with a woman named Angie. She had a very entitled attitude, did not look me in the eyes once, and left the register before I could even pay. I had to call her over when my payment was not going through because she ran away so fast. Unfortunately, this is not the only time I have had to deal with entitled workers at this specific location. It seems like cava is specifically hires rude individuals or maybe gives a training that does not highlight customer service. I love the food, but I am disappointed and fear that I may not come back, as customer service is very important to me. I hope that this review can get to some kind of management and hopefully they can implement better customer service standards into their hiring and training. read more

So happy they finally have a location in AZ! I have enjoyed my meals from Cava when visiting family back east so I was excited about their expansion to the valley. Wish they were closer to Chandler or Gilbert. I know the menu pretty well and the quality is consistent across the board. The Phx location is in a very busy area and business seems to be great with families piling in for the delicious meals they offer. The kids meal is pretty sizable and our son loves everything he orders. Considering how picky he can be that is great news! My husband and I pile on as much as we can in our bowls with no regrets. I love CAVA, this the fourth one that I've been to, but this one has problems. First time we went, they were out of falafels, the employees seemed sad and quiet and were not helpful, the outside misters were on full blast just drenching the tables outside, and service was incredibly slow, like 25 minutes to serve 7 people in line. The second time, they were out of chicken, three employees (also looking very sad and very quiet and not helpful, and again super slow. There things are usually the sign of bad management. Hey manager, CAVA has an amazing product, don't blow this. You gotta keep your product stocked, train your staff, and motivate them, they can have fun while working. for now, I'm gonna be driving farther to the Camelback location. Edit 2/20/23: decided to give this place another shot a few days ago. Oh my gosh, I think it was actually worse. The girls behind the counter look like they want to be anywhere else in the world but there. The line had about 10 people and it was not moving. I want to love this place because the concept is great and flavors are good, but I have had so many issues with this location that it's finally time to post a review to warn others. This last time, my order was 20 minutes past the committed time on the app, and then I got home and realized they didn't make it correctly. They added cheese and the person has a severe dairy allergy. So I took it back and nicely explained the situation, and they remade the bowl but they literally rolled their eyes at me. When I got home, I realized this time they remade the person's bowl with the wrong chicken so it was too spicy for them. And my bowl was cold because I had an extra 30 min round trip drive. I have empathy for service workers, but to the company: please pay your employees fairly and then help ensure they review orders before they make them. Maybe this is either a technology or training issue. Also, it wouldn't hurt to train them to display a little empathy when a mistake makes a customer drive an extra 30 minutes to return for correction. read more
