I heard about Cava from multiple friends prior to visiting as this Arcadia location is super close and convenient. It seems to be a hit with the working mom crowd as it's a healthy, fast casual concept with fresh food that tastes good! Since hearing about it, I've been twice. Once for take-out and once for dine-in. I overdid my grain bowl on my first visit by adding too many toppings / dips / spreads. Everything looked good, so I kept adding more, but I suggest choosing wisely and keeping your order simple! Go with a chef-curated bowl if you're indecisive. I would recommend the garlic dressing on the side if you're not afraid of garlic (or planning on kissing anyone after you eat). I also like the tzatziki and roasted eggplant dips. Ask for pita bread on the side for dipping! I'm a fan of Cava's fountain drinks as well. I highly recommend the green tea mixed with a bit of your favorite lemonade(s). During my dine-in visit, I loved experimenting with flavors for my refills! I'd love to see a more basic grilled chicken or shrimp added to the protein options, but other than that, this place is great. Alright friends, I'm hooked! I LOVE mediterranean food of all kinds (It's in my Greek blood) and this quick build-your-own healthy bowl (or pita!) spot is the dreamiest! I went with a bowl and did 1/2 super greens (love the broccoli & brussels in it) with 1/2 saffron basmati rice. For dips, I chose roasted eggplant (AMAZING), tzatziki, and crazy feta (a must). For protein, I did 1/2 chicken and 1/2 sweet potato. For toppings, I added cabbage slaw, persian cucumber, crumbled feta, pickles, tomato + onion salad, kalamata olives, tomato + cucumber salad, and pita crisps. Basically, ALL THE THINGS. Lastly, I topped it with their lemon herb tahini and Greek dressing. I loved this bowl so much that I ate there twice in one week!! I even downloaded their app which I NEVER do for restaurants. Only downside I saw with the place is lack of parking. After circling parking lot few times on Saturday afternoon I parked at 10 min pickup parking spot and opted to get my order to go instead. Food wise, I picked a bowl and started off with brown rice and lentils. Another option is jasmine rice. Spreads come after, and I choose feta spread and red pepper hummus spread! We've been meaning to try this spot for a couple weeks and finally managed to stop in today. It's a little overwhelming at first as there are ALOT of offerings and it's like a Mediterranean Chipotle (as someone else mentioned) so you 'need a minute' to figure out what will work together. We opted to just order something from the 'they put it together' board and were not disappointed. I had a Greek salad with chicken and hubs had the white sweet potato recipe. Both were good other than I had a few fatty pieces of chicken in line (yuck). The sauces were great and make sure to ask for a couple pieces of pita as they don't seem to come with the bowls automatically- but what else are you going to do with the hummus? So here's the deal. I was STOKED when i found out cava was coming to Phoenix. The food is stellar. You can build your bowl how you like it - i enjoy the green + grains bowl with arugula and right rice. Their proteins are all tasty and their toppings are the killer cherry on top. I am full after my bowl which says a lot cause i can eat!! What urged me to write this review after eating there 10 times already since their recent opening? Tonight they were super busy and they were 10 minutes late to the pickup time for my online order - while i waited they offered me a drink while I waited (omg their pineapple into fresh juice was stellar) but they also threw in a sweet blondie as a treat to say thanks for being patient! However, almost every time they get our online orders wrong. Today was the last time and the final straw - have ordered 2 different bowls and they mixed half of the ingredients from one bowl (chicken and rice and arugula) into another and the other way around. As a result we get 2 completely wrong orders, one of which is inedible (I don't eat chicken and they added it instead of the requested roasted veggies) The sticker printed on the order has the correct details, so it's not an online order issue. I chose to create my own bowl with a base of saffron rice. You can split the protein, so I chose half meatballs half roasted veggies. The bowl was absolutely loaded- you will not leave hungry. I loved this bowl-- to me it was the perfect blend of flavor and spice, although it was too spicy for my family members. If you're sensitive to spice, consider substituting the Harissa sauce they add at the end for the Greek sauce. However, if you can tolerate a bit of spice, I would recommend getting it as it comes. The entire bowl was super flavorful, a bit spicy, and had a great balance of ingredients- no boring bites at the bottom. The garlic ranch pita chips were crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and seasoned beautifully. The pineapple mint and blueberry lavender drinks were also deliciously refreshing and not too sweet. Service was quick and easy. We only got dressing for one bowl which is extremely disappointing, ruins the entire bowl. We were sure to call to make sure our pita bread came with it, since they always leave it out. When we called to make sure the pita was included, they said they would throw it in there for us and only gave us 1 when we requested 2, one for both our bowls. Our drink also came with no ice. I come to this cava all of the time since I live nearby and I usually have a good experience. I, personally, have been working in customer service for many years and I have NEVER left a bad yelp review because I usually always understand if there is bad customer service but this truly was for no reason at all. I was the only one in line, I was nice and excited to get cava, and she would not stop rolling her eyes every time I talked. I felt embarrassed to be in the line like am I somehow a regular that everyone hates. I don't know but once a different girl checked me out, she was so happy to go back and talk to her coworkers. So maybe don't do that as a fellow service worker, there could be a much worse reaction to the service I received if it was anyone else. read more

CAVA is a perfect example of a place that you drop into and become converted into a regular. I love Mediterranean cuisine (boatloads of recent health researchers say it helps you live longer), but it doesn't seem to be something that I have a lot of access to. It's a shame that hummus and other "healthy" food seem to be relegated to only a few, not to mention pricey, menus. The first thing I noticed when I walked into this location was the line. I don't say that to deter you - the line moves quickly. But it's rare these days to go into a fast-casual restaurant and have a line. Admittedly from the outside, I thought this would be a sit-down restaurant with service. It's not and that's OK. If anything, that's more than OK. On a weekday at lunch, many guests were popping in for a quick bite either to eat here or take back to their offices. While there are a plethora of "fast food" options where you can do this, it's so nice to have the option with healthier food. At CAVA, you do not have to choose between tasty and healthy. At this Chipotle-style, create-your-own plate system, you can customize your bowl or pita to incorporate all the major food groups. Lean protein from chicken or falafel, carbohydrates from whole grains, healthy fats from dressings, and everything in between. I was a bit overwhelmed with all the ways that you could customize your food here and went with their chef-curated recommendation of the Greek chicken pita. The word that comes to mind is flavor. Mediterranean food can sometimes be dry, but with all the juicy vegetables and dressings, all my worries quickly dissipated. The chicken was nicely seasoned and everything just felt satisfying. Another thing I liked here was the fountain drinks. They offer some drinks from Maine Root as well as some special iced teas. I had the cucumber mint lime and it was delicious. Very similar to the beverage offerings at Modern Market. They even had Diet Mexican cola. Definitely, a place where you could come with a friend and spend some time. I was surprised to learn that CAVA is a chain because it felt mom-and-pop and this location blended into Arcadia quite nicely.
