So cute! So... precious! I've been to only one cat café before catfé, and I must say the experience definitely pales in comparison to this charming Vancouver location. It's located inside International Village Shopping Centre, on the second floor! It's where Cineplex is at, beside the Chinatown station on the Expo line. You can either buy a ticket and a drink (a little over $8) or just the ticket itself ($8), and you can peruse the abundance of baked goods and cat merchandise while you wait for your reserved time to arrive. There's a second room specifically for the cats, air conditioned (!!!), spacious and decorated prettily in the theme of cats. The merchandise is really quite pricey but so adorable! When we went to the catfé most of the cats were sleeping, but they are gentle enough for you to pet them. A lot of cats roamed around, and we got an hour with these cuties. I honestly want to go back again sometime! This is a lovely place to visit if you're ever in Vancouver. read more

Hmm where to start.... For the last two times I've been on holidays in Vancouver I've went to Catfe and both times were an unbelievable experience. The staff are super friendly, the coffee and snacks are super high quality and delicious and of course the cats! Not only is Catfe a great place to go on a coffee date but it's also giving homeless cats a second chance. That's right folks all the cats are available for adoption! So whether you live in Vancouver or just there visiting make sure you stop in to pet some cats. However you do have to book ahead so make sure you go online to do so, so you don't miss out on a purrrfect experience. read more

This was such a fun experience for me! I love cats at lot and was glad to come here and play for a bit, it was hard to leave without adopting someone! We came in the morning, so the kitties were out and active. The drinks were okay, I got a hot cocoa and my boyfriend got a catpuccino, complete with a kitty drawn in the foam. We also ended up purchasing a few collectible items. Definitely will be back when we come into town next! read more

I am SUPER happy and excited that there is now an up and running "Catfe" here in Vancouver!!!! The idea that these kitties are being so well taken care of in a nice space is amazing. So much better than being locked up in cages or behind glass in some crappy store in a mall (AHEMMetrotownAHEM). This is a far better alternative. And the fact that you can also adopt these kitties is amazing, since they are coming from the SPCA. But I must say.... I had higher expectations of how the place would run.. overall.. Maybe since I had visited one previously in South Korea. Even with having a reservation, the line to get in was..... quite slow....... Understandably, since the place did just open.... But perhaps for the people who don't necessarily want to purchase a drink or snack, could get through faster by just purchasing their entry ticket on the right side (where the cats live) rather than the left (the cafe side). It's really slow waiting in line and waiting for everyone to decide what the want and how they want it and what they have on the menu when all you want to do is get into spend time with the cats.. Especially considering there is only an hour window for visiting. By the time everything was said and done, with an appointment made ahead of time, I was only able to be there for about 40 mins.. I'm hoping the Catfe can do a little more research for the future into running a more smooth and seamless service. The one I visited in Korea worked like this.... You enter the facility, wash you hands and remove your shoes and put on some slippers before entering the actual "Catfe". Then, upon entering, there is a counter where you purchase your ticket (which is about $8-9). This purchase includes your entry fee AND a drink. Pretty sweet deal. Nice and easy too. No separate lines and waiting. Just good for thought maybe. In the end, I'm just happy it's here. And the kitty merch is pretty darn amazing. ********P.S. Better seating!!!!!! The tables are quite large inside and can easily add an additional 2-4 more chairs per table. I found it awkward standing around at times while everyone was sitting and most of the cats are sleepy so nothing really to do but stand around like a creep waiting to pounce on the cats. Overall - came here for bunny day and boy was it great. Lovely time engaging with the bunnies and staff. Upon admission, they give you a cup of veggies to feed the bunnies. The roam the area and the bunnies often just come right to you. Not sure how many people actually pet the animal, but the bunnies seem pretty happy. These were up for adoption and the staff were happily cleaning up after the bunnies and engaged with us, offering pillows and encouraged us to engage with different. Bunnies. Loved the experience. Hope that the bunnies all get adopted. read more

FIVE STARS for supporting local shelters to find these kitties forever homes. There were 8 cats when we went last night and all of them had pending adoptions, yay! Careful of overstimulation, some of these guys don't like their backs touched - head pats are good enough. We were quite entertained by one psycho cat, full of energy, running all over the place and trying to steal people's food. Cute! TWO STARS for the actual café part. Very slow service and quite dis-organized. It took about 15 mins for us to order and receive our teas (with only 2 other pairs in front of us in line.) Lots of room for improvement here, but otherwise a very pleasant experience with the kitties. read more

I was excited when I found out Vancouver has a Catfe because my dad is a BIG cat lover with no cats of his own so this place would be perfect for him. The appointments are usually all booked up in lighting speed so be sure to check for appointment spot at least 1 month ahead. Plus, Catfe seems to have a high rate of cat adoption so they do run out of cats frequently. The concept is definitely likable --- non-traditional shelter to allow cat lovers and kids to have a place to play with cats. My dad was really excited about this while I was really excited about how I'm labeled as the thoughtful child. We arrived at the cafe 30 minutes early because I didn't realize foods are allowed in the cat lounge (you must buy your admission ticket at the cafe first and I wanted to have time to drink my coffee slowly). The coffee was alright but the banana loaf was SO.GOOD: rich yet not too sweet, flavourful but not too too banna-y (i'm not a big fan of overly bananay flavoured desserts) and the texture was solid but soft at the same time --- it was like a fluffy banana loaf, not feathery banana cake. They also have Hello Kitty macarons and cute kitty cupcakes to choose from. Obviously everything is $$$$$$$ there. I'm going to assume that they need money for rent and to paid staff as a non-profit. Moving on to the cat lounge... The interior is spacious, has a nice set up and it's pretty much a funland for cats. Cat toys are provided for your convenience. I made an appointment at 3 so we can take our time to get there after lunch --- which later turned out to be somewhat of a mistake. Walk-in was opened at 3:10PM and there was just too many people, too little cats (there were about 5-6), not to mention that 99% of the cats didn't really want to interact with the visitors. They were all pretty much taking naps or simply didn't want to deal with strangers who they have never met and probably will never see again, and this is a huge let down. 3PM was probably their time to nap. I get it that these cats/kittens aren't there to entertain humans and it would be wrong to assume that they have to --- but it was definitely disappointing when the experience wasn't like how you imagine it would be. I foresaw some cats to be unavailable due to napping but didn't expect ALL of the cats to be like that. You are really just sitting there to look at the cats while you drink your coffee. Surely enough my dad was very disappointed and we left our 1 hour appointment 30 minutes early; the lounge was getting more crowded too. All in all, I'm not saying don't go. I'm saying support local shelters but do know that cat and human interaction isn't guaranteed if that's what you were hoping for. This review is based on the customer service and two separate adoption processes over different years. I adopted a cat from here years ago. During the entire process from start to finish I was constantly told by various staff how much they HATED the cat I adopted. They would tell me how he keeps scratching them or causing them problems. Now I appreciate that they shared with me the struggles I will encounter giving the cat a home, but the tone, attitude, and constant negativity regarding the cat's behaviours was just flat out unprofessional. I don't need to hear how you hate him, how annoying he is, and how he makes your job hard. I would rather hear advice on how to deal with it. I almost walked out during the adoption process because of how unprofessional and rude the staff were, however I really loved the kitty and went through the full circle despite the staff not keeping their comments and critiques to themselves. My cat was completely different from the impression the staff had when I took him home. I want to point out if you think, speak, and act like a cat will attack you chances are they are going to be aggressive towards you. Animals can sense your attitude and mental state. If you are nervous around a dog the dog will pick up on that and get anxious too. That's why it's not advised to approach a stranger's dog without their permission. I think this key concept is what made my cat a loving family member. I came back a second time because there was another cat I was interested in adopting. I figured that the Catfe is not new anymore and therefore the staff and management should have improved, but Lo and behold. All I heard during the entire process about a completely different cat is how awful my cat was when he was residing at the Catfe. My advice to all the staff here and management is that it is fine if you don't believe in before and adoption stories... it's fine to be skeptical. However, I strongly do not appreciate how rude you were all when I wanted to adopt my first cat, and then dragging in how much you all hated him back in when I was looking for a second cat. In the end, my application was denied due to my first cat not being a fit with this new cat. I ended up going to a different adoption branch and they agreed with me that the attitude was unprofessional. The cat my family got matched up with was the exact same personality the cat I was interested in at the Catfe. read more

Honestly, what's not to love? It's a lovely, safe place for stray cats that can be adopted from the cafe. Entrance fee is $8 for an hour or $5 if u buy a coffee with it. They have rules in place to keep the cats comfortable, there's lots of toys, and you can just sit around and drink coffee while petting lovely cats. Some of them are so sweet and affectionate. My only problem is that there were not more cats to pet :) but that's because they get adopted, so it's worth it. They also sell some really good souvenirs, and the whole place is just cat puns galore. I love it. read more

My friends and I came here for a quick fix. We love cats! Cue the "I Love Cats" song: https://youtu.be/sP4NMoJcFd4 The Catfe was difficult to find, since the address given was for a sad looking mall. (I hate malls) I was happy to be with a local who helped us figure it out, as we were running late for our appointment. Speaking of appointments, you should make one if you're planning on visiting with others. They only allow 16 people inside hourly. Walk-ins are welcome if they have the space. They were kind enough to let the three of us in, even though I could only manage to reserve a spot for one person. We paid the fee, and each grabbed an Orangina on our way in. We had to wash our hands at the entry and read the rules. The space was clean and full of natural light, with plenty of room for these cats to spread out. One cat had a little tent by the windows. So cute! These cats are living the life! Most of the cats were napping while we were there. We were allowed to get up close to them and say hello, but let them enjoy catnapping. If we were in the market for another baby, we would have taken Mr. Whiskers home with us. He was adorable! After reading about this place, I found out that we have a similar place in Portland, called Purringtons Cat Lounge.  I'll report back. read more

So very glad the Wife suggested this warm fuzzy activity. Literally.   If I were a cat I'd never leave the Catfe'...such cool feline digs,all any Cat could long for. Spanning the entire length of two walls are cleverly constructed 'Cataminiums' built over the walls to allow purrfect ease of access from the top catacombs to the ground levels. There is def ample room for many cats here. All the natural sunlight flooding the Catfe' make it almost outdoors-like and quite natural for an office building,well designed for it's purpose. The furry adoptees spend their entire day however they choose and their Independence is encouraged and honoured. During our visit the kitties were peacefully napping but never too deeply as to not miss an opportunity for appreciated 'chin choppers' or just to make a brief appearance and allow humans to adore and worship them as they r accustomed to and then back to their required 18 hour siesta. Eat, sleep,purr repeat is the feline agenda at Catfe'. I also had my first Macaron today, the Catfe' version is called a 'Meowcaron' and it's spongey top and bottom were so fresh & soft! The velvety Earl Grey filling was buttery rich but not too sweet making it a welcomed contrast to my robust 'Catpuccino'. I scored some comfy cat socks with ears too! We absolutely loved the Cat merch throughout, not cheap but quality goods and so cute & unique. Every SPCA should have a Catfe'attached,what a fun elevating experience for both humans and felines, a true win-win. Cat kudos to Leona who's congenial enthusiasm was genuine and infectious as she assited us in cat-lore and navigating the Catfe'. Feeling drained...free parking for two hrs in the international  Village mall ( bonus )...small admission fee....huge payoff for u. So worth it. Money well spent. My overall experience at the Catfe was pretty good. The lavender meowcaron was very yummy and the London Fog wasn't bad but as other people have mentioned, all the food items were pricey. The area with the kitties was very cozy in a minimalistic sort of way. There were a lot of cat-themed games and toys for visitors to play with. The cats were friendly and easy to approach. The only qualm I had was that my friend and I were not told that they empty out the cat area every hour to bring in the next group of reservations. The employee did not mention this but of information during our briefing even though she knew we were first timers. Needless to say, we took our sweet time catching up instead of making the most of the hour playing with the kitties and we were surprised when we were told we needed to leave in 5 minutes. There is a $8 fee to play with the cats ($5 if you buy things from the cafe) so make sure you make the most of your time there! read more

Best place to spend a Sunday afternoon! My boyfriend and I made a reservation 2 months ago, and finally visited the Cafte today! 1 hour admission is $5 each with any food or drink purchase. We bought a small aMEOWricano, a MEOWcaron (black currant macaron), a cat cake-pop, and a vegan chocolate cake. All together plus admission was only $22! What a bargain! The food was very delicious and adorable, and the coffee was nice and strong. The Catfe limits about 16 people per hour visit, and there were 13 cats available; so there were plenty of cats for everyone to play. All the cats were super adorable and playful. There were plenty of cat toys to choose from to entertain the cats. One of the older cats, Minnie, was so friendly, she crawled into my boyfriend's lap and snuggled with him while purring. All the staff were very knowledgeable, and were very patient when sharing the cat's info with us. Some even offered us tips on how to get the cats to like us. We had a great time, and we will definitely come back again!!! read more

This review might be a little biased based on the fact that it's where I adopted my beautiful little girl, Witley, but I love spending my time here at the Catfe. The location isn't great - it's right in the heart of Chinatown where a lot of the homeless reside. Luckily, you'll never run into any trouble when you're in the cafe. The employees are always friendly and helpful, and there are new cats every Thursday night. The cats aren't always as friendly as you may see in cat cafes in Asia, but that's because these cats are fostered. They have all been rescued by the SPCA and some can be timid because of their past traumas. The workers will let you go in for free if you're interested in adopting one of the available kitties. That way you can visit him or her as often as you want and get a feel on if they're the right match for you. The food is good - just cupcakes, scones and brownies. The drinks are quite tasty. CATS! and COFFEE? I'll take all of them! **Edit! I feel the need to make this point very clear as a lot of people on here are saying this. This is an adoption program and these cats are not here for your entertainment! The fee is what goes towards their care and wellbeing (which includes keeping the cafe running) The coffee isn't the point. The energy level of the cats is also to be expected, they are cats and again not there for your entertainment! Catfe is an alternative to the Humane society and facilities like that.** As a fan of cats and cafes this was obviously a place I needed to be! After walking past many times I decided to stop in on a particularly hot day because, cold drinks, cats and AC. The price is fair considering it goes to helping give the kitties a safe place to stay and meet people prior to adoption. I have no issue with the price and would happily pay more if it went up. As it stands its $8 on its own or $5 with a cafe purchase. I got some water and admittance into literal heaven. After you read the rules and get a quick break down from the resident cat expert you are allowed through the pearly gates (you guys should paint the door pearl white cause that's what it is.) Now let me be the voice of reason here, you all know, or should know, that cats, for the most part, love to sleep and ignore people most of the time. If you are expecting to walk in and be booped by all the cats instantly you are going to be disappointed. Even though I loved my visit, it was clear to me and everyone else that the current cats didn't really care that we existed. One lovely little lady did, however, observe my lap for a moment before yelling at me and turbo booping my chin, an experience I very much enjoyed. She yelled at me some more and carried on with her day. Worth it. I think next time I will bring some light work with me and maybe sit a little longer on my laptop (an actual cat magnet) and see if I get some more attention. I was really excited for this until about 10 minutes into my experience. I think the cost is fine and I understand the importance of exposing the cats to potential homes and that in itself is wonderful. I must have gone on an off day because there were only four cats in the room and 14 people, four of which were teenagers following the only two cats that were up around, taking selfies, and constantly snapping photos of them instead of just observing and enjoying the animals. I think the idea of this is wonderful and it gets exposure to kitties who need homes but, I feel that there were far too many people for the amount of animals available, and perhaps people need to put their phones away while they are in there, not only out of respect of the animals space, but of the other people in the room. As I looked around me I could see the other people feeling a bit put out based on their expressions and it felt more like a social experiment to see how humans interact in awkward situations instead of a enjoyable visit, as cameras were watching us the whole time and we were in a small room. I do recommend experiencing this, but make sure all 12 kitties are available to interact with before you go. read more

Went here when I was visiting Vancouver. There are many underground parking near the mall. Catfe is on the second floor above starbucks's it did take us a long time to find but it could of been easy. When you first walk in you have to buy a entry ticket and your choice if you want any cookies,cakes or drink. After that you walk into another room and a staff is there to explain rules and you must wash your hands. Also they have a full wall of accessories of cat stuff. Once you actually enter the room where cats are it's relaxing. There are a few big tables and a few small tables. Each with brushes and toys. There are also A lot of toys on the ground as well. It's honestly really relaxing in there. Others are either just sitting down and chatting or working on their laptops. The time I came in they were somewhat almost closed. They cats were not as active as I would've liked but it's ok. You can't really pet the cats when they are sleeping which is understandable. Most of them are sleeping or just running around. You can also adopt any cat you want they have a wall with a picture and a description of each cat. Great place to look for a cat to adopt but also you should visit the shelter first then the Catfe. I gave it 4 stars because entry fee was somewhat expensive to pet cats. read more

As a cafe, Catfe is OK. It has minimal space and minimal seating on the no-cats side. Broad tea menu ($3.30 for a Starbucks Grande sized cup) but the one I got that had seaweed didn't taste or smell seaweedy... Anyway, be sure to get two sleeves because one definitely wasn't enough against the heat of the cup. Coconut water (canned), coffee, and other beverages available, as well as a minimal selection of snacks (making it sub-par if you are looking for a place to have a light meal). Obviously the draw here is to be the cats, and you better go in with expectations properly set because otherwise you will feel you wasted $5 on the ENTRY FEE (on top of the hassle of making a reservation and signing a waiver before you go in). Yes, you have to pay to see the cats. TIP: Adopt a stray cat (Free). Or go to a petting zoo (costs you lettuce but you can grope any animals that come into range). TIP: Might as well pick up a free Catfe pin at the counter where you sign the waiver. TIP: You have to wash your hands. They have a pile of paper towels that get all wet because people splash water on it moving from faucet to paper towel pile. Bring your own towel? It is $5 to see the cats, or $8 if you don't buy anything. So you might as well get a tea or something while you spend an hour hoping to spend time with a cat. HOPING. When I went, there were way more humans than cats (5 cats total, 3 in hiding), and at 5pm the cats were basically more interested in sleeping than being molested by humans. You can't wake them or pick them up -- that's part of the rules. So... Catfe is NOT like temporarily having a cat as a pet. You will not necessarily get any cat time, especially if other people are more keen on chasing after them with toys to play with them and there are more humans than cats. Maybe that's why you get an hour -- somewhere in there, you might get a turn with the cats. Maybe. Big maybe. (In case you are done early or have had enough of waiting and want to bail before your hour-long appointment is over, you can NOT tag in someone who does not have a reservation. I was told it "doesn't work that way". You could still try it -- maybe ask if you can if the person also pays the $5 entry fee? I mean, if the limit on humans isn't exceeded, why not, right?) They are booked till January and are max 16 persons at a time (plus staff). Not sure what the maximum number of cats in residence will be, but I'm betting not that many. Or maybe not yet. The space is small enough as it is for that many humans. When I went, the patrons with the cats were either girls, or the few boyfriends dragged there by their girlfriends. So, it's a great place to meet girls. Not necessarily cute girls, but hey, they are animal lovers (points!) and cat lovers (bonus points). You might be #2 in their life once they adopt a cat, but that'll probably work out in your favour. My recommendation is to wait till they finish their shakedown cruise and operate more smoothly. In the meantime, you can go to the cafe and just watch how things operate from the no-cat side. And maybe shop some cutesy cat merchandise, which is bizarrely on the cat-side but you can probably still sneak in and say you are looking at the merchandise only. Before stepping into the Catfe, and especially if you're an inexperienced cat owner, your expectations shouldn't be that they're there for you to play with during your hour-long stay. I've heard people b*tch and moan that "the cats just slept the whole time and we didn't get to play with them". Yeah that would kinda suck, but - they're not circus animals, and cats sleep - a LOT. So there's a good chance that when you go, cats might be sleeping through the whole thing. Its not exactly a petting zoo, or having your own cat for an hour. Anyhow, the 2 star has nothing to do with the fact that most of the cats were sleeping, but lets start from the beginning. Admission is $8, or $5 if you get something from the cafe, so you might as well get something! But wow, some of the cafe prices was pure robbery. Between 3 people, $22 was spent on 3 drinks (latte, hot choco, espresso), 2 cat shaped shortbread cookies ($3 each), and a banana loaf. ARE YOU SERIOUS - if you're gonna charge someone $3 for a cookie, it had better be a gigantic 5" Starbucks-sized one. But this was puny, and it sat within the lid of my coffee cup. I know you're located in Tinseltown, and it may not be the busiest mall, but some of those prices were just ridiculous. The cafe is located through the left door, with big windows where you can peer into the cat room, where you can observe the animals (observing the animals :) ) On through the right door of the cafe is where you will get to see all the cats (but first you have to go over the house rules, and wash your hands). The ceilings are really high, and along the right side is covered with impressive wooden shelves and cubby holes, with little cat beds and toys. There are also a few cardboard boxes where some cats were snoozing away, a bunch of empty Ikea-type shelves.. The way the shelves were lined up didn't look like it was meant for the cats to sleep on, maybe its meant to be filled with other things, but I'm not sure. There are 3 big tables for people to sit down with their drinks, a few magazines and books, and I saw 2 decks of Exploding Kittens - which is pretty fun, you should try it if you get a chance. The space currently houses 5 adoptable cats, and can accommodate 16 hoomins (plus the workers). I was told that they are trying to work their way up to 12 cats, but they will slowly test it out. When I first got in, 4 of the cats were sleeping, and there was 1 that was sitting in one of the highest cubbies. There were 3 girls petting the cat and taking pictures for at least 10 minutes, but you could tell most people were vying for the cat's attention. I mostly played Exploding Kittens, but when some cats woke up, I got a bit distracted and hoped it would come curl up next to me. Anyhow, with 16 hoomins, and 5 cats - you're gonna have a slim chance of getting up close and personal with a cat. Once it wakes up, if you're in the right place, the right time, and if they like you, they'll hang around. So while 2 people are playing with a cat, you might have 14 people hovering around, hoping to lure the cat away. I did go to Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium in London, and that one seemed to have so many things going on (for the cats) so I was feeling a bit less than impressed with this one - plus some of the ridiculous cafe price. The wooden cubbies are big, and large and spacious... but I guess its just that I've seen more things at other places. Such as cat hammocks, a giant running wheel, actual little beds, grass covered shelves. You also got to stay for 2 hours instead of 1. Maybe if this was my first visit to a cat cafe, I might rate it a little better, but its tough when I've been to a cafe which seemed to be better in many ways. I kind of regret going on day 2, and in hindsight, would go back in a month or two when they have more cats, and had a chance to adjust a few things (*cough*such as the price of your shortbread cookies.. Disappointed. Paid $5/person entrance fee on top of coffee and only played with one cat. They give you an hour time limit, but we probably only stayed 20 minutes. If there wasn't a sign above the door calling it a cat cafe, I wouldn't have known the difference... I had to look really hard to find a single cat. There were supposedly 5 cats in the shop that day (was told some days it can be as many as 20), but only played with one. Another one was sleeping and the others were sleeping or hiding behind a closed door labeled "cat washroom". The staff didn't even bother to bring the cats out for customers to see. Those cats are awesome, they pick out super nice ones to live there and I appreciate the service they proivide to get them adopted. The girl in the cat room ruined it for us, we were yelled at for not entering quickly enough even though I was going normal speed. I told her to look at rule #6, no loud noises, she wasn't impressed. She went over all the rules, talking at us, not to us. The room needs air conditoning so she could wear some better clothes, and the cats would be more comfortable. It's too bad, we are professional cat owners that came over from Victoria especially to go there, with intentions of submitting an application to adopt one. read more

The place looks interesting. The way they operate needs improvement. After being to two similar places in Helsinki and Vilnius in Europe this past summer, this place in Vancouver is not that good. First, in the other cities they let you come in and sit down at a table. Someone will then bring a menu and take your order. The drinks and food are prepared in a separate kitchen for health regulations. In Helsinki, there was an entrance fee. In Vilnius, there was just a minimum purchase. In both. They serve drinks in cups, glasses and food on plates. This is much greener than Catfe that serves in disposable packages. It is a bit annoying that you have to make a reservation in Vancouver or wait for them to let you in. The service is unfriendly and rude. read more

It took me forever to find this place, literally. I kept walking up and down the block on the outside but there was no such thing as 88 West Pender until someone pointed out after reading about my rant on a meet up group that it was actually inside Tinseltown. I actually missed it the first time it opened 'cause the organizer of the meet up left 10 minutes into showing up 'cause he decided he wasn't into it even though myself and two others were on their way and were within the area, therefore, I came back with another cat orientated meet up. Your have to call to reserve time with the cats which makes complete sense so that the cats don't get overwhelmed with so many people. There is a $5 entry fee if you buy something otherwise it's $8. The discount is not much of one considering that the drinks are way too overpriced and okay, not great but okay. Pastries are way over priced. Not much sitting room, therefore, not a hang out place. I came in to get some drinks with friends. I am actually allergic to cats and forgot to take my allergy medication, therefore, no cat time for me. I just looked at them. Not munch in terms of snacks or light meals. I came here 'cause I have been hearing about these kind of cafes forever, especially in Japan. Not impressed with the visit. I knew face time would be limited with kitties. They're aiming to get more if they work on their price margins a bit more. I really tried to find something positive about my experience but was severely underwhelmed. In conclusion just go to a pet store and stroke through the cage while holding a Starbucks. read more

ONE STAR. I visited yesterday with one of my girlfriends as we were on the hunt for a furry friend for our home. I absolutely love the concept of the catfe, and visiting kitties that are ready to be adopted is amazing. However, the girl working as the barista/visitation concierge, was horrendous. Not only was she rude and unenthusiastic, she also spoke to us as though we didn't accompany a brain or ethics. My friend's tea latte was lousy being that it was 90% foam, certainly not worth the $5. She was extremely rude to everyone in the cafe at the time, and for the price of the entry... I can't say I'll be back anytime soon. I'd highly recommend making the trip out to an SPCA as opposed to wasting your time getting reprimanded for existing. read more

not as bad as i expected, after seeing the reviews. the employees are okay. we came around naptime for the cats, so while the sign said there were 10 we only saw about 3. as for the food, overpriced as usual (for vancouver), but its adorable! not sure if id come again, since its a bit boring, but i guess i can say ive been here. read more

I had high expectations for the catfe because it was so hyped up by vancity buzz and my friends. They did email us saying that there was a shortage of cats so I guess that's a good thing. however they said they had 5 cats but when we got there they only had 3 cats and two of them were new so they never came out. So basically one cat, that didn't move because it was too fat. They did not charge us admission on that day so I am not basing this review on the cat situation. However, I do think if they did charge admission for something like this, it would be a little too overpriced considering the set up and the cost for food. We got the vegan chilli and the red pepper quiche. The chilli was cold/lukewarm which made it really bland. There was not enough flavour and it just did not appeal to me. The concept of a vegan dish was very cool though. The quiche was hot because it was microwaved for us but it tasted a little too eggy if that makes any sense. I would prefer it more if it had more cheese taste to it. But that's just a personal preference. We also got a London fog tea latte and a vanilla latte. We did really like the London fog latte and definitely recommend it! The total cost for our food came up to $27 which was a lot higher than I had expected. Imagine if you had to pay admission on top of that! The actual experience at the catfe was below average as well. The only cat was being hogged by people sitting around it and we weren't given a chance to even look at the cat because it was blocked by the people. It was really disappointing. And we drove all the way from Surrey too! I did not get to touch the cat at all because the people wouldn't move. The time period (one hour) felt very rushed too. They did have some cool board games and such though. I definitely recommend playing Exploding Kittens! Not gonna lie that was the highlight of the Catfe..... To sum up, I have nothing against the cats being adopted, I am glad they found their forever home. But I do think the Catfe is a little overpriced for its quality of service and the quality of their food we received. read more

Many of the bad reviews here are very unjustified. Firstly, complaining about the cats sleeping is silly, since sleeping is what cats do 90% of the time. On top of that they are pestered by customers all day, so naturally they would desire sleep and private time more than other cats. I've also seen a lot of complaints about the reservation policy, again equally as unjustified. Since the cats are confined to a small place, of course only a limited number of people can enter at a given time in order to avoid overwhelming the cats. Again, that is something which should have been expected by customers. Cat cafes exist all over the world and all the ones I've been to require a reservation. If you're going to a place like this for the first time, it would be wise to look up the website first since the rules for requiring a reservation are clearly stated on the website. Also people who bring small children, naturally the staff members would be concerned about this. I've seen some small children treat cats horribly e.g pulling their tails, chasing them, and of course this would arouse some uneasiness for staff members. They have no idea whether children coming in are well behaved or not and it is their job to take precautions to ensure the cats are treated well, and also to ensure the experience is not ruined for other people by the behavior of small children. However, like many of the other reviewers here, I also had a bad experience with the customer service. A lady with red hair served me the first time I came here and she was very unfriendly towards my friends and I and the whole time made us feel like we were doing something wrong. She took every opportunity to tell us off, for example, one of the cats was sitting next to me for a while and I was petting it, then it proceeded to walk away and I jokingly said "No, don't leave me sweet kitty!" while stroking it. The lady with the red hair proceeded to give me a whole spiel about "we never restrain the cats and prevent them from walking off, that stresses them out blah blah" even though I had not done that. She spoke in a very condescending tone and it made the whole place feel less welcoming for us. However, I went here a second time, and this same red haired lady was there, but that time she was much friendlier. As for the coffees, yes the coffee is overpriced and so is the food. But there is a good reason for this, as the money is going towards looking after the cats and finding them good homes. Although I'm fine to pay the extra fees, the coffees themselves were not good. The lavender drink I had lacked flavor and was very milky. I would rather buy coffee at Starbucks first. The layout of the place is great, however. The room with the cats is visually beautiful and very well set out with little nooks and crannies everywhere for the cats to tuck themselves and hide away in. It also smelled good - an unexpected feature, as I have been to cat cafes before which smelled horrendous. Overall, this place could seriously benefit from getting better customer service and improving the coffees served. If these two things would have been better, and the staff were more enthusiastic and welcoming, I would have given five stars. read more

Most cats were sleeping when I went in the afternoon. There's one that's super friendly and would come close to us. And another one that kept looking out the window. A clean and friendly place! If you don't feel like interacting with cats, you can just sit and watch them. Though I'm allergic to cats, I'd come back to these cuteness! read more

Positve: The best thing was that the cats are cute and cuddly. Negatives: Cost of coffee was extremly over priced. In addition, it tasted terrible. On top of that, there is a $5 entrance fee per person. So it came out to $20 for both of us. Wasn't worth it all all as the service sucks and too many cat rules they had. We got yelled at for being too close to the cats while they were asleep. We didn't do anything of any harm but just look at them and take photos. The staff are way too overprotective and too militant. They need to chill and trust their customers more. Overall, if you decide to go there, don't even bother. If you do, don't tip. Best of all, don't even go there and you're much better off by going to the pet store or something if you just want to look at cats and other animals. read more

First time finally in this cute cafe.!!! Accessable location for those using public transport. The staff is friendly and so are the kitties :). There is enough room for people and cats to interact. If you bring food in from the cafe be aware the cats will try and have it . As an animal lover, it is an amazing way to try and find a home for these animals. It should be expanded to other animals too with a different cafe!!!! read more

I went to the Catfe on its third day open, with such high expectations.I should not have had them, but I did. A cafe with cats? That I can play with?! My dream. Although the staff were extremely friendly, and the space designed well, there were only 5 cats! for 15 people! People were just crowded around these poor kitties trying to get their attention. Most of them hid or were sleeping. I guess my dream of having about 100 cats running and playing around me while I sipped on coffee was a little unrealistic. I did talk to the helpful staff, and the informed me they close on Thursdays to get more cats. They said they can only accommodate up to 12 cats though. There is space for more! More cats! More fun! I am happy that each cat have little profiles on the wall, outlining their adoption details. I am happy and hoping that this will generate interest in adopting these little guys. read more

A lot of the negative reviews here are very unfair. Cats are animals and are not going to be obligated to play with you. I've been here multiple times and have always had a great experience. The coffee is great, the staff is friendly, and the area is clean and spacious enough that it doesn't feel crowded in the cat area. Cats are not always into playing or being pet, but that's the nature of animals. Don't come if you're just going to be upset if they ignore you. If you want to have more playful and lively cats I suggest booking first thing in the morning as I've found they tire out later in the day. The Catfe is also very clear that they have limited capacity and cannot just admit anyone. Their reservation system is awesome and easy to use, and I've never had trouble getting in after making one. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a cat cafe to hang out at! Their feline inspired merchandise is also adorable and very cool to browse. read more

Been here twice. The first time we came in, the front employee was rude. She said they were booked, even though it didn't look like many people were in the cat area. She told us we'd need a reservation. We decided to give the place a second chance, thinking maybe the employee was just having a bad day. We made a reservation that time. Online it said to get there early or they could give your spot up so we arrived about 25 min before our reservation time. The same front desk girl was there and she was rude again. They let a couple who just walked in without a reservation go in. I explained we had a reservation and It looked like we would go in right after them but then the rude front desk employee checked with the employee in the cat area and once she found out we were early she decided we couldn't come in and would have to wait. We have been to a cat cafe in Calgary, Alberta and that place was organized, professional & the staff courteous. This place is the exact opposite. Would NOT recommend. I'll take other peoples suggestions on the comments left on Catfe reviews and visit a SPCA instead. read more
