I'd definitely go back to try the food, but even if it's just for drinks, Catch is a solid spot. I am a frequent diner at Catch in LA. As someone who lives in Chicago and has extremely high standards when it comes to restaurants, Catch never disappoints. I have dined here both with a group as well as alone and I am treated to the best service no matter the occasion. There is a manager who is tall with brown hair who always goes out of her way to touch my table and ensure I am having a positive experience. We had an early reservation (6p) so it was pretty empty when we sat down but by the end of the night, all tables were full and it was very busy and lovely inside. This place once you step off the elevator is really gorgeous and nice opportunity for a picture op. First you check in downstairs to make sure you have a reservations and then your sent up the elevator to the actually restaurant area. Upon checking in, you wait at the bar till the hostess seats you, the vibe feels like outside vibe inside a restaurant. The decor is so nice and nature like. Flowers and vines..heat lamps in case your cold. We started off with the chopped wedge salad and the flavor itself was amazing, it tasted like it had some miso dressing in it but with your traditional chopped salad toppings, instead of bacon, we had warm flavorful pork belly pieces. We got two pieces of the Otoro nigiri. It was fresh and the rice had so much flavor. The the king crab hand roll came and that was packed with flavor and the texture and sweetness of the king crab was amazing. We also had the prime ribeye, cooked medium rare with a side of truffle butter and that was amazing addition to the steak itself. Cooked perfectly and really yummy with and without the truffle butter. The Hit Me cake was divine and very rich but oh so yummy in flavors. If you don't mind walking a little there is public parking for 3.00 or if your feeling fancy valet is 20 It's a great place for date night, girls night out or a birthday celebration. A little over 3/4 of the way through my first meal at Catch I was prepared to give it a four star review. Borderline 4.5 if possible because the service two nights ago was pretty sparse. Then our server McNeil, at the end of the night acknowledged to us that the restaurant was surprisingly very busy for a Wednesday night and that he hoped we didn't feel like he had not provided us with proper attention. Which until he said that we had thought. The drink orders were a little far in between and just the overall check-ins throughout the evening. Having said that I did notice the place was packed and there were not enough help for the number of people. I can honestly say that I did not have a bad bite of anything. And I had a bunch of bites of fantastic. We started with three of the sashimis and crudos. The flavor in the truffle sashimi is second to none! And I'm not huge on truffle. However, if it is in a dish at catch you can catch me ordering it. We ordered a catch roll which was fine but probably one of the more mid dishes. We had shishito peppers which can be hot but were perfect. We had truffle fries and mashed potatoes also for the sides. The mashed potatoes were so good we ordered a second order. Speaking of second orders. We also ordered a second dish of the mushroom truffle pasta. I didn't try it the first time. Was convinced the second time and it could have been the best bite of the night. We also ordered the ribeye and miso seabass for our man dishes. I've always loved Catch LA and have come here because the food is genuinely delicious, which is why yesterday's experience was so disappointing. For a restaurant of this level and price point, the service was unacceptable. Our server repeatedly ignored us, and unfortunately, the bussers were just as inattentive. Our French fries were completely forgotten, and when I approached another server to simply ask about bringing out our dessert, he turned around and walked away right in front of me without even acknowledging what I had said. It made us feel completely unwelcome and ignored throughout the evening. When you choose an upscale restaurant in Los Angeles, you expect the service to match the quality and price of the food. Today (12/27/25), my friends and I visited Catch, excited to return after having great service during our last visit. Unfortunately, this experience was extremely disappointing. Our server, Juliane, appeared inattentive and unprofessional throughout the night. Service was very slow. Juliane seemed to be under the influence. Water took about 20 minutes to arrive, and our main dishes were served before the appetizers. Because of this, we canceled all the appetizers altogether. If all food is taken at once, it should be properly coursed. What made things worse was the lack of concern or urgency from our server. She even dropped one of our drinks on the floor, which only added to our frustration. Overall, the service felt careless and disorganized, completely ruining the experience. Due to this poor service, we decided to skip dessert and go to another restaurant instead. Sadly, we will not be returning. Catch is so beautiful, it just has a magic feel to it .. it's such a fun spot to visit. I've been here a few times with friends and my daughter and each time has been a great experience. The food & cocktails we have had here have always been good, and service has always friendly. Definitely need a reservation , and I'd recommend visiting when it's about to be dark. We also informed the staff about a food allergy and requested no cross-contamination, yet they still served drinks containing the ingredient we asked them to avoid. When I spoke to the manager, Courtney, about the long wait, instead of apologizing she blamed us for arriving late, even though we had called ahead and were assured it was fine. We had a wonderful Valentine's Day date night at Catch. The restaurant is so gorgeous. Our server, Stephanie, was so friendly and nice. She really helped make our night special. The menu is set for Valentine's Day, but you have the option of adding on premium items. We opted for the Roasted King Crab (recommended by Stephanie), and it was the best decision we made all night! The crab was cooked perfectly and flakey with a delicious yuzu soy glaze. I mean just look at that creamy orange color - anything with a sauce that color is guaranteed to be delicious. Catch staples such as the Catch Roll and the Crunchy Rice Cakes were also included. I loved everything in the first course. Catch always shines with seafood. The Catch Roll, of course, always hits. The crab tastes so fresh and the salmon has an enticing smokey touch after being seared table side. The Pacific Hamachi Crudo was fresh and fun- the pineapple added a bright, refreshing element. And the Madai Ceviche was also really good. I might even say that the first course was my favorite. The second course was ok - definitely my least favorite just because everything else was so good. The crunchy rice cakes were the winner for me here, but everything else from the wedge salad to the crispy shrimp felt lackluster. The third course was great. Miso Sea Bass was delicious - I love anything with a sweet glaze. The Roasted King Crab definitely was the star of the show for me. The Dry Aged New York Strip had a great crust and was so tender. Spicy Gigli was alright but was outshined by all the other heavy hitters. The waffle fries... yeah they were good but I thought it was so funny they were given their own spot on the menu hahaha For dessert, the pistachio cheesecake bites were horrible. Holy crap might have been the best place I've ever been. I love the way this restaurant is set up and how the servers explain the family style experience.
