We came to a very busy Catch on a Saturday night, checked in for our reservation and were told it'd be a couple minutes, so we went to the bar and got some drinks. It took about 10ish min till we got sat. I hadn't put a request of where to sit because I didn't know where the best seating location was. We were a party of 4 and they took us to one of the outside booths and I'm so glad we sat outside. Not only was it absolutely beautiful outside, with our table looking towards the city, but it was extremely loud inside, so heads up if you sit inside. Nick was our server and he was so sweet. He took great care of us from the start of our visit till the end. For drinks my group got the lychee martini and said the best things about it. Someone also got their pornstar martini and loved that. I got the catch espresso and this was one of the better espressos I've had lately. I was surprised I liked it so much because it had tequila and that normally makes it sweeter, but it was perfect. I'd give it a solid 8.5/10. (Yes I'm specific lol). We got the chicken gyoza as an appetizer and that was delicious. Very small but really good. Also the shishito peppers, but those were ok. My group got a bunch of sushi shareable's and they liked everything. I got the 8oz filet, cooked to medium, and this was ok. The outside was quite burned and it didn't have enough seasoning, so unfortunately all I was tasting was a burnt crust. For dessert we ordered the iconic hit-me chocolate cake. That was great. It had vanilla ice cream with layers of chocolate cake inside. Some other employee recognitions I wanted to give was for Edvin and Caesar. Edvin was dropping some stuff off but was such a character. Caesar was on another level. He was cleaning the tables and then came to ours and just joined in on our conversation like he was one of the girls. Packed, loud, sparkler candles flying across the room, everyone dressed like they were either celebrating a birthday or soft launching a sugar daddy. The vibe was electric. This time? The restaurant was made for influencers and to take beautiful pictures for social media. Same with the food. The presentation is beautiful. I personally am Japanese and prefer not to pay extraordinary prices for Americanized sushi but I admit it was tasty. 5 piece roll can cost $30 which I didn't feel was worth it. Then came an interaction that really summed up the level of service. When I got up to go to the restroom, a busser carrying a plate told me "excuse you" because I was apparently in his way. I understand that restaurant staff need to move through a busy dining room, but there was absolutely no courtesy in how this was handled. What made the experience even more frustrating was watching how other guests were treated. A woman with dark hair in a ponytail, who appeared to be a manager, walked around the dining room greeting guests. She stopped at the table next to us, asked how everything was, and offered another table drinks at the bar because they needed their table as other guests were facing an hour wait for that table. Meanwhile, she completely ignored our table -- despite the fact that we had already waited 45 minutes with a reservation. There was also essentially nowhere comfortable to sit at the bar while waiting, making the long delay even more unpleasant. For a restaurant like Catch, especially for an occasion like an anniversary, the level of hospitality should be much higher. The problem wasn't simply the wait. It was the complete lack of communication, acknowledgment, warmth, and basic courtesy throughout the evening. We left feeling ignored and disappointed rather than celebrated. We get there and within minutes the waiter casually tells us they took it off the menu a long time ago. When I asked why their online menu still shows it, he just said "oops, I'll let the manager know." The manager never came. No apology, nothing. That alone told me everything about how they operate. If there's an issue at the table, especially at a restaurant at this price point, the manager should be coming over themselves. Not "I'll pass it along." And on top of everything, it was my birthday. I am very much dismayed to share that my experience at Catch solidified that it's just another extremely over-hyped and over-priced LA spot. My friends really wanted to go with me, as they had a positive experience when they first visited. They shared that the sushi was delicious and the interior design was beautiful. We went on a Monday night in late December. We were lucky that we found street parking in front of the Pacific Design Center. There was no line to be seated; apparently, there usually is. We went with a reservation made far in advance. Nevertheless, we were kept waiting for several minutes at a high-top before being led to our table. Once we were seated, the vibes with our waiter were off. I'm not sure if it was because we were younger and weren't understanding the humor, but there was just a mismatch there with the jokes. We were asked to place the order for all our desired items all at once. This wasn't a problem for us as we were hungry and had studied the menu beforehand. However, I can see how this can feel very limiting for other guests. A few moments later we were notified that they were out of ingredients for the salad we ordered. Walking up to the building with friends, I noticed Valet service and a very noticeable bouncer who ensured we had reservations before letting us board the elevator to Catch on the roof. He really set the vibe for the dinner and made sure we were all enjoying ourselves fully. I don't think I'll ever forget him and will request his area when I'm there next! The menu is definitely Asian fusion, and all the sushi is flown in direct from Toyosu Fish Market in Tokyo. As I was there with people who'd already been there before, I let them do all the ordering. We got the Oysters, Truffle Sashimi, Tuna Tartare, Truffle Mushroom Spaghetti, Prime Ribeye, Wagyu Fried Rice, and Miso-Glazed Sea Bass, along with various other cocktails as the evening progressed. I was really excited to try Catch in the West Hollywood area, as a friend had strongly recommended it, saying it was fantastic years ago. When we arrived, we had to take an elevator up. there's a doorman/ security by the entrance who guides you the way and just a heads-up, there's no dedicated parking, so you'll need to park on the street and just be sure to read the signs because they'll ticket you in a flash if you miss the meter or tow your car. I am a frequent diner at Catch in LA. As someone who lives in Chicago and has extremely high standards when it comes to restaurants, Catch never disappoints. I have dined here both with a group as well as alone and I am treated to the best service no matter the occasion. There is a manager who is tall with brown hair who always goes out of her way to touch my table and ensure I am having a positive experience. I ordered the lobster pasta, it came very bland and not seasoned at all. I asked for pepper and every waiter kept asking me if I wanted crushed red pepper. No Black Pepper is all! Took over 24 minutes to bring pepper to the table. Food got cold and didn't seem important enough to get pepper which should be standard at a table in a luxury restaurant. read more

We stopped by Catch late on a Saturday night just for a nightcap after dinner, so I can't speak on the food yet, but the espresso martini alone is worth the visit. It was honestly one of the best any of us had ever had. The place was pretty crowded, which is expected for a Saturday night, but it still had a really nice, trendy vibe. I'd definitely go back to try the food, but even if it's just for drinks, Catch is a solid spot.
