Fall Spiced Cake (poached persimmons and spiced caramel sauce, a la mode with butterscotch ice cream)
Dana L.

Having eaten at 2* Michelin-Star Providence (then 1*) a decade ago and really enjoying it, I was intrigued by this off-shoot upscale seafood shack created by the same owner, especially after reading The Infatuation article. My foodie friend's friends had said this place was overrated but I wanted to try it for myself. I'm glad I did, because this restaurant was amazing and I'd gladly return again. I came here for Sunday brunch with a reservation with my friend and was promptly seated in the covered outdoor patio. The busboys were super attentive & friendly, refilling our water glasses, taking away plates, and even replacing the paper coaster without prompting. Jo's Wicked Good Chowda' - I got the sampler which includes New England, Manhattan, & Rhode Island clear. Manhattan was hearty, rich in tomato. Rhode Island clear reminded me of savory ramen broth. New England was creamy yet light. All 3 were delicious but New England edges out for the win in my opinion. House-Smoked Fish Dip - This was delicious! The soft house-made saltines were a perfect complement to the smoky flavor-packed fish. I would order this again. Live Santa Barbara sea urchin (uni) - Served with mini slices of buttered toast, this dish was decadent and yummy. The uni definitely tasted naturally sweet and fresh. I would order this again. Fresh raw oysters (MP; $4 each) - I ordered the Pacific Plump & Kumamoto oysters. It seems that the size of Kumamotos are just tiny regardless of where I buy them, so I can't fault the restaurant. The Pacific Plump was a nice size; I would get this again. Stuffies - This was just OK; did not stand out in my opinion, and the mix seemed too 'bready'. Grilled Catch of the Day (MP; $42) - I read that the seafood/fish are flown in fresh daily. I ordered the wild-caught monkfish, served with herb oil. The entree comes with any side so I picked cauliflower. The monkfish was firm yet moist; this type of fish is my friend's favorite and he said that it was cooked perfectly. The cauliflower was unique; I've never seen one in those colors or shape before. It was softly crispy from being fried. My friend thought it was a little too oily and thought it would be better broiled/roasted instead. Fresh Maine Lobster Roll - I ordered it hot with drawn butter, along with side of potato salad. Lobster was fresh and the bread soft; no complaints. I usually like potato salad but this fell flat; it's hard to describe exactly why I didn't care for it (Maybe it could've used some crunch like celery?), but I do remember that the horseradish was quite strong. Fall Spiced Cake - Very tasty but the taste of persimmons is usually mild and unfortunately I could not taste it at all in this dish so it felt like an afterthought that could be easily replaced with another fruit like winter pear, which is a shame because I love persimmons. I would still get this dish again, though. In all, this meal was ~2 hours long and cost us almost $300 total for the 2 of us. Yes, it was quite pricey, but I think if you are wanting to go to a seafood restaurant with good quality food and service, this would be a great choice for a special occasion.

Ed's Portuguese Fish Stew

Connie & Ted's is beautifully decorated with both ample indoor and outdoor seating. There is paid parking right in front of the lot, but street parking is also available. We came for lunch on a Sunday and were able to find street parking without any issues. The restaurant was pretty busy, yet there were still a few seats open. We were warmly welcomed and seated immediately. Drink orders were taken right away, and our waitress came shortly after to take our food order. While there isn't a kids menu, they were very accommodating. I really appreciated that they asked about any allergy restrictions in our party--it was noted and even showed up on the receipt, which made me feel well taken care of. We ordered a variety of dishes to try, starting with the half dozen chef's choice oysters. When the tray arrived, it came with a paper noting where each oyster was sourced from--such a nice touch. They tasted incredibly fresh. We also ordered the clam chowder flight, and all versions were delicious. The crab cake was delightful and paired perfectly with the coleslaw. For the kids, we ordered buttered pasta, a side of fries, and steak--and they devoured the steak! It was cooked perfectly and literally melted in your mouth. The buttered pasta portion was HUGE--my son could only finish half, but he enjoyed every bite. We also ordered the fish stew and lobster roll, which took a while to come out. I honestly thought the order may have been forgotten, but when I asked, our waitress explained she was waiting for us to finish some of the smaller dishes so there would be room on the table. Once it arrived, the wait was completely worth it. The fish stew was SO delicious--the broth wasn't too salty, and the clams and mussels were cooked perfectly. They melted in my mouth. I could honestly do without the sausages but it was a good option. You truly couldn't bother me at that point. It came with perfectly toasted garlic bread that paired beautifully with the stew. The lobster roll was just okay for me--the fish stew completely stole the show. I would absolutely come back just for that dish alone.

Oysters

I'm a sucker for a good oyster spot, and they had a great variety of them. The oysters were nice and fresh, the scallops as well. I do wish that the scallop appetizer had a little more acidity and salt but nothing I couldn't fix myself. The lobster roll was very tasty and my steak was cooked perfectly and drowned in butter. I do wish that they carried A1 sauce, even though a good steak doesn't need it. The chowder sampler was yummy as . The fried clams were really good. It was a bit loud in there and our waitress was pretty slow. I had to wave her down a few times for drinks. All in all not a bad place definitely will come back to try more oysters if I'm in the area.

As someone who loves both stew and seafood I had to try Ed's Portuguese stew. The fish was cooked perfectly and quite flakey "Catch of the day" is not an exaggeration. Finding out that Michael the guy behind Providence is also behind this joint and it really shows in the quality of the seafood. Super cool he paid respect to his grandparents by naming a restaurant after them. I'll have to go back and try the oysters sometime.

Lauryn T.

The oysters were yummy. They are on the higher side of price. The whitefish was pretty good. Very small piece. The spinach was just wet and bland. Slightly soggy with absolutely no flavor. I make better spinach at home. The blondie was probably the best thing but its ice cream and a blondie. You can't really mess those up. Inside its kind of like a cafeteria. No need to dress up more of a casual vibe. The service was good very attentive and fast. I wouldn't say this place is super memorable or has stand out food so I don't necessarily think I would be back.

So once again, I went to this Wonderful place Connie and Ted's in West Hollywood and met my friend Ata there! Edward his first time and first experience at that restaurant and you truly love it: we both shared the appetizers, the chowder sampler, and four oysters that we hand picked. You had a grilled honey butt with a side dish of creamy corn , and I had the smoked salmon hash. Everything was delicious. Again, if I could give this restaurant seven stars, I would I also have to say that Randi the manager is a delight, always so helpful and friendly I highly recommend to all of you this place‼

More like 4.7 stars Parking in LA can be a nightmare, but Connie and Ted's has valet and a small lot right in front of the restaurant, rare and so appreciated. Came on a Sunday and was immediately hit with choice overload in the best way. The menu is stacked with amazing options, and honestly the hardest decisions I made all day were here. Highlights: Tomato salad - my absolute favorite dish of the night. Perfectly fresh and balanced. Chowder flight - Rhode Island clam chowder my fave one of the 3. It reminded me more of a light chicken soup take on clam chowder Cocktails - fun and creative, each one held its own. I ordered a P-22 after seeing in a Yelp review but it's been removed from the menu however they were able to still make it Lows: - Fried clam strips and onion rings were both underfried and could've used a bit more crisp. -Key lime pie was good, but not the "best ever" as another reviewer claimed. Solid, but a little mid compared to expectations. Overall, Connie and Ted's nails variety and freshness, with a few misses on execution. I'd happily come back, especially for that tomato salad and the Rhode Island chowder.

Little Gem wedge

While I've been dining at Connie & Ted's ever since they opened over a decade ago, I've never posted a review on Yelp, so since they recently announced C&T's is closing soon, I returned for dinner and it was a great as it ever was - the best fried clams in L.A., Little Gem wedge salad, and hard cider - all yum - ace space, perfect service, tasty food - cheers to great run and will be sad to see them close. (I recall this space was the old Silver Spoon diner before C&T took it over.) It's rather sobering & sad to realize that even solid places like C&T cannot sustain operations in this bleak economic climate due to a perfect form of factors - but good to know Michael C. still owns/runs his three-star Michelin seafood showplace Providence, one of the best tasting menus I've ever had as well.

My friend and I dined here for DineLA restaurant week. Delicious choice with a good price point for the different choices. We both tried cocktails. She had The Nina, the Pina, the Santa Monica" and I tried the cute pink "When Mork Met Fonzie", absolutely refreshing. All of their menus look delicious and I will definitely return. Meals included half a dozen oysters, a lobster roll with fries and sea bass with a side of wilted spinach. Dessert was a blondie with ice cream Pleasant wait staff and host for a good experience.

Food is still on par and service is excellent! There's valet parking in the lot or if you're lucky, you can always find parking around neighborhood.

Cauliflower and garbanzo (it's has a different long name on the menu)

If you live in LA you know that you pass by many places again and again over the years but never go there because these places are not exactly in your neighborhood. LA is very neighborhood oriented. I live in Hollywood and drove by Connie & Ted's hundreds of time and every time told myself I should go there. So today I did. I am a burger connoisseur and wanted a real good one after yesterday I had a really good one in Santa Clarita, and I know you must be thinking to yourself "why is he talking about burgers on a fish restaurant review?" Well....i heard the hamburger at Connie's is one of the best in LA. There is one hamburger on the menu and it IS a really good hamburger. The bun is so fresh and lately too many restaurants forgot that the bun is SO important for a great burger. The patty is the juiciest I've had in a very very long time. The first bite was amazing, it is obvious the chef doesn't like his food to be just like any other place, but then a salty taste started to annoy my palate. It is still a very good burger but it tasted like someone unnecessarily seasoned the patty with some table salt and pepper. Tiny amount of Ketchup did the job and balanced the saltiness. I hope it was just a one time mistake. The cauliflower and garbanzo were soooo good, such an unusual flavor. Very surprising. It looks like I need to try the burger again and check out more dishes from the menu

Shrimp chilaquiles

Connie and Ted's is simply marvelous! I love everything about this place. The food. Service. Ambiance. Design. It really makes you feel like you're in New England with a touch of the West Coast! We had reservations for Mother's Day and arrived about 15 minutes before our time but we were seated right away. We started with the halibut crudo. WOW. The fish was cut perfectly and the plate was beautifully decorated. And the quality of the fish was amazing. So soft that it literally pulled apart with the gentle tug of the fork. The fish was soft, light, and the pickles and citrus notes on top made the perfect pairing. Now for the main dishes. The fish sandwich was simple yet perfectly executed. The brioche was light and fluffy. The coleslaw was crunchy. And that fish was so perfectly fried, the batter was light yet so crunchy and stayed crunchy while eating the entire sandwich. Fries were fried to perfection, crispy, crunchy, lightly salted, and tasted just like fries should! The shrimp chilaquiles are seriously some of the best you'll have in LA. Those chips stayed crunchy the entire time we ate through this dish! And the sauce had a robust, spicy, savory kick. It was cheesy and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. And those gorgeous yolked eggs on top were the perfect kiss. Now the Lobster Croque Connie. Oh my. It might be easy to think "let's just throw some lobster into a croque monsieur" oh no no . . . we gotta make it Connie and Ted style! The toast was light but so crispy and held it's shape to soak up all the sauce. The lobster I think was just ever so slightly overcooked, like 30 seconds, but it did not ruin the dish at all. It was still soft and so sweet. Gruyere cheese for the perfect richness and that figaro sauce - basically a tomato hollandaise - was nuts. Not only did I run my croque through it with every bite, I used the french fries from the fish sandwich to dip it in the sauce too! The best part - desserts! The key lime pie was ON POINT. The crust was dense, rich, toasty, and oh so good. The key lime filling had pieces of lime - outstanding - it was smooth, tart, creamy, delicious. And that merengue - you know they toasted it to order because it was still warm when it arrived! I love that! Light, sweet, airy, amazing. And that newly made special Orange Creamsicle Ice cream? Wow. Creamy rich ice cream, decadent caramel, tart orange and kumquats, and candied walnuts. The best sundae ever. I definitely need to come back asap.

This place was delicious ! A good spot if you're looking for quick seafood in LA. The atmosphere is also great and they have TV's to watch sports games ! The calamari was delicious, the breading wasn't too heavy. The clam chowder wasn't as creamy as we're used to, but it was still good !
