You can not go wrong when you stop in this place! The cozy atmosphere was instantly met with excellent customer service. For instance, we came in right before Sandro (the owner) was about to serve a huge wine-tasting dinner that had the place virtually sold out. Sandro instantly let me know that he didn't like denying customers; and I was totally happy eating al fresco in the warm evening air. His recommendations for pre-dinner cocktails were spot on, and the bread was what you'd expect from a great Italian restaurant. Sandro's friendly, warm service was matched by the high quality food. I had the Sogliola al Limone. Man, oh MAN was it delicious and filling! The sauce was spectacular, the asparagus was fresh and deliciously prepared, and the Caesar salad had some of the best dressing I've eaten in a while. I should have ordered anchovies (I like anchovies!). My partner raved about his dish as well (sorry, I can't remember what he had!). Another small, but important example of wonderful customer came when the waiter Francisco came over to check up on us. He laid down a dish, and noticed that our table was uneven (You know what I mean, it rocked where you'd want to fold a piece of paper under one of the shorter legs). The table didn't bother either of us at all. Yet Francisco took time out while he was extremely busy, and got under that table and evened the legs out properly. This was something he didn't have to do; and our experience would have still been stellar; yet his marvelous display of making things right for the customer made the dining experience even better. The restaurant is just a block east of La Brea on Beverly. The prices are definitely fair for the superb quality of food that they serve; and Sandro is one of the more personable and professional owners of a restaurant that I've ever met. What a cool find! This place is a small Italian restaurant located on the corner of Beverly and Detroit. There's a small parking lot in the back and I didn't have issues finding parking on a Saturday at 8:30pm. Some of the spots are tandem so obviously don't park there (I didn't see a valet person). It wasn't very busy when we arrived (off-peak dinner time) so it was pretty quiet. We ordered the squid ink pasta. Last night my husband and I were looking to grab dinner before catching a movie. We found this gem right near the theater and boy did we luck out! Lovely decor, romantic atmosphere and absolutely fantastic food. I ordered the pesto gnocchi and my husband had the sausage rigatoni. The pasta was fresh, portions were perfect and everything was delicious. Plus the owner is very classy and went around to each table to speak with every customer. He was friendly and nice. I can't even remember the last time an owner of a restaurant took the time to do that, and it enhanced the already pleasant experience. They do so many of the little things right too. Like freshly grated cheese on the pasta, a good quality olive oil with warm bread. Service was great, and I can't wait to try additional things on the menu. Favorites from a recent visit include a luscious mushroom-stuffed ravioli with butter and sage sauce, a refreshing pear and Gorgonzola salad, and a creamy panna cotta. best Italian food we've had in LA. I don't eat much wheat pasta, but knew I had to try this organic, handmade offering especially when there is Linguine Al Nero Di Seppia / black squid ink pasta with fresh crab and scallops involved. It did not disappoint, with the best chewiness and nuanced seasoning of any Italian dish I've had since visiting the Tuscany region itself. Not a linguine fan, I have been converted! The Bucatini All' Amatriciana is also fantastical, and our friends got the carbonara and lobster spaghetti. We shared the insanely perfect Prosciutto e Burrata and Calamari alla Griglia - the only calamari being the only dish we wouldn't repeat but can't wait to return and try the Polipo Scottato and Carpaccio di Manzo. A friend of mine was raving about this restaurant for months and I was happy to finally try it. It is a very inviting dining room with tasteful decor. The owner greeted us and chatted with us for awhile. The restaurant recently moved from another location. The menu is good - it was very difficult to decide on just a couple of dishes. All the pastas sound great and my head was turning as dishes were delivered to each table. They have a creative cocktail list - not with hipster drinks where you don't know what half the items are. It was curated by someone who really knows what they are doing. I had an interesting drink with an egg foam. We had the Raviolo Funghi, hand made mushroom ravioli with a butter, sage, truffle sauce. For entree, we had filet mignon with a wine reduction sauce. The quality and cook on the steak was perfect. I am not a huge dessert person, but their pannacotta is unforgettable. What a gem! Decided on this spot for a last minute midweek date night and we were pleasantly surprised! The ambiance is low key but super romantic. The highlight was the food!! I haven't had carbonara that good since our trip to Florence! The pasta was perfectly cooked and the ratio of eggs to pecorino was on point. I am baffled by the stellar reviews here. The manager (owner?) was hostile and condescending, which is enough reason to stay away, but in addition, the food was mediocre. Basic pasta with red sauce....so you could have any combination (red sauce with sausage, red sauce with eggplant, red sauce with shrimp), but it was far from anything memorable. The red sauce could've been from a jar for all I could tell. Noisy, no sound absorbing features anywhere, so the room was an echo chamber. The food was OK. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good -- which is pretty damning. I will certainly never go back. read more

They were voted one of the Top 10 restaurants in Los Angeles, and you can really taste the quality in their ingredients, which they try to source organic whenever possible. @amaronekitchenandbar makes all of their breads, pastas, sauces and desserts fresh in-house daily. My favorite dishes were the bruschetta, which was so deeply flavorful and refreshing, and the tiramisu, which was light, fluffy, and pleasantly light on the sweetness. The Pink Lilly cocktail was also deliciously whipped up, and I'll have to try their $70 24K gold cocktail next time. Service could be a bit slow and inattentive even with a slow dinner crowd, but I do understand that the restaurant seems a bit understaffed. Pretty much like chill, relaxing, fine dining vibe that I didn't expect from a place on Beverly Blvd (I mean, they did it in a good way). It's very nice to be sitting and actually had a good meal. Food was great. Some items are pricey compared to other restaurants in the area but not pricey compared to the quality you get. The food was sub par at best. Came here for the "fresh" pasta, which was a total joke. The pasta we were served was definitely NOT fresh or homemade as advertised, it was from a box or bag for sure. Sauces were totally unremarkable and the bathroom was downright disgusting. Filthy and also flooded floor from a leaky toilet. The complimentary focaccia bread was dried out and literally crunchy and hard. Inedible. Two stars because the servers were nice and attentive and were the best thing about the place. Attentive without being intrusive, this excellent staff are consistently personable and set a nice tone. An atmosphere at once casual and familiar. This has become our ritual: dinner and drinks at Amarone before and after a film at the New Beverly Cinema. Sometimes it almost feels like we're in an old movie. We wish there was more vegan fare here (we go to Pura Vita for vegan Italian.) But the drinks are reliable, and the price surprisingly gentle for an evening of splendor. I've eaten in fine Italian restaurants all over the country, and I have to say that Amarone Kitchen And Bar ranks with the best of them. The inside is quiet and conducive to pleasant conversation, even though it's located on a street corner near a busy Los Angeles intersection. That location coupled with the interior reminded of a sidewalk cafe in Rome. The food was just plain magnificent . My wife and I ordered two different salads( pear and asparagus, respectively) with each demonstrating a beautiful balance of flavors. Our pasta entrees , ravioli fungi and linguine al Nero de sepia were done as pasta should be, with all flavors working together to again present a perfect combination of pasta, mushrooms, seafood and sauce without any ingredient overwhelming another. The wine selection is compressive and reasonably priced per glass, and dessert was excellent. Bottom line: Hats off to Sandro and Marco. We're bringing friends here next time. read more

AMAZING AND UNEXPECTED That was my first reaction to a recent restaurant visit. My date and I decided to try a new restaurant, Amarone Kitchen & Wine located at 7149 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles and it was one of the best dining pleasures that I have had in many years. Having formerly been in the high end restaurant business and as a graduate of a Cordon Bleu Culinary School I am extremely appreciative of great food. I have been a published food critic/reviewer for over 50 years. In addition, my date for that evening has worked with some of the most prominent leaders in the culinary field, including Julia Child. Upon entering the restaurant we were warmly greeted by Marco (one of the partners of the restaurant), greeting us as we were great friends that he had not seen for a long time, although it was our first time there, and making us feel extremely welcomed. The interior of the restaurant was quiet and cozy; it was one of the few places where I could take a date and be able to converse because most restaurant play background music so loudly that it precludes any type of conversation. The space was large enough to accommodate the patrons but small enough to maintain an atmosphere of intimacy and quiet. I ordered the Fillet Mignon, in a red wine sauce reduction, roasted potatoes and fresh asparagus. The steak was one of the best steaks that I have ever eaten and that is based on my having been born in Texas where some of the best cattle ranches exist and steak restaurants are overly abundant. The steak was very tender, moist, flavorful and cooked perfectly; it could not have been any better. As an added treat the steak was topped with delicious mushrooms, covered in the red wine reduction. Potatoes and asparagus were also cooked to perfection and so fresh that they must have harvested that very day. My date ordered the pasta and she told me that it was extremely delicious and cooked to perfection. We later learned that the pasta, as well as all of the deserts is made fresh. Speaking of baking, the fresh bread that was served was so delicious that I could have consumed several loafs. For desert I ordered the Flourless Chocolate Cake and it was very tasty. My date ordered Panna Cotta and she told me that it was one of the best she had experienced; perfect consistency and texture. Later we found that the daughter of Sandro (the other partner of the restaurant) was the one responsible for the wonderful deserts and the great bread. She is an amazing artist with her culinary baking skills and her abilities are equal to some of the more well known culinary baking chefs. If you are searching for a great restaurant with atmosphere, great service, incredible food, and delicious deserts then treat yourself to an outstanding dining experience at Amarone. Amarone uses organic ingredients whenever possible and they make all their bread, pasta, sauce, etc. in house daily! They even freshly squeeze fruit to make the juices that go in the drinks! Not only that but their dining experience is intimate yet cozy. They pace the drinks, appetizers, and entrees so that you can genuinely enjoy your time eating good food with the people you come there with. :) Also the food was AMAZING!
