Love this place! Had early dinner here yesterday and did not expect much due to some mixed reviews. I am glad that we had a pleasant dining experience! For me and my hubby, it was our first time yesterday.However, our daughter frequents this place with her friends. From the entrance 'til the dessert, everything was good. We were seated outdoor and the view was amazing plus the weather. We ordered Grilled Spanish Octopus, MRC Roll, Catch Roll, Miso Glazed Seabass, and the Hit Me Tower Dessert (which is truly fabulous!) This is influencer wannabe central. Everywhere you look, you'll see people taking an obnoxious amount of photos of themselves. The front is roped off with a bouncer like some night club (cringe). Is this a club or restaurant? -1 star for this. But I will give them credit on a beautiful terrace & layout. The bar ambiance is very nice too. Overall the food was good but doesn't match the price point. I'd say this is more about the experience / ambiance than anything else. Which explains the abundance of influencers (god I hate that word). Can we stop making stupid people famous? To summarize my food experience: Started off with some cocktails (sunset sunrise and detox) which were both very refreshing. Would get these again for sure. The standouts for me were the lobster Mac & cheese (this was my favorite) & the pistachio cheesecake. To be completely honest, the truffle sashimi & catch roll were tasty but okay when compared to similar price point, Japanese sushi spots in LA. The main course of sea bass & branzino tasted okay but Nobu is way better. My friend & I both agreed it seemed a bit on the dry side too. Maybe an off day for the chef? I adore everything about Catch, minus the waiting period after checking in for your reservation. You're liable to wait 10-45 minutes, so be mindful of that when coming here before another appointment or reservation. The interior is gorgeous, the picture opportunities are plentiful and the bar is a happening spot. Guest code ranged from cute casual to super dressy to streetwear casual - I don't think it really matters. There's inside seating, outside seating and bar seating. Expect some noise inside. The views outside are gorgeous, considering how high up you are. Great option for birthdays and anniversaries, but don't expect your sweet treat to be on the house here. Prices run a bit high for the experience, of course, so I'd budget $200-$400 for a table of four. There's a separate brunch experience, in addition to a wonderful dinner. read more

Fantastic dinner spot in LA! Obviously on the pricier side but you get what you pay for. They do right by Asian Fusion and the atmosphere and aesthetics are immaculate. Our server was SO nice, I wish I remembered his name but this review is long overdue. He helped us order and we ended up getting the albacore nigiri, grilled Spanish octopus, and miso glazed sea bass. The albacore nigiri and grilled Spanish octopus were to DIE FOR! So good I would reorder next time, although I do want to try everything on the menu. The miso glazed sea bass was okay -- the fish was great quality and overall tasted good, however the miso glaze was a bit thick and ruined the texture of the top of the sea bass. We also got the "hit me" chocolate cake for dessert since we were celebrating a birthday, and it was delicious but we were already SO full. We also got drinks: yuz guys, detox retox, and pineapple train wreck. Since we were celebrating a birthday, our waiter also gave us complimentary shots of their espresso martini reserve cocktail! A waitress also spilled her drink tray behind us and we asked if she was okay/needed help cleaning up (nothing spilled on us). She ended up giving us complimentary shots for our kindness as well! Came here for dinner with a few friends. It was super busy even though it was a weekday. We had a reservation but we weren't sat down until 30 min after our reserved time, although they did let us order drinks at the bar up front. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was very pretty -- especially the entrance where the flowers and greenery are. The food was not bad, but definitely a bit overpriced for what they give you. The Catch Roll was okay, but definitely did not taste like $25 sushi. The lobster mac was tiny and very salty. I enjoyed their truffle fries and edamame, and the crispy rice was good. Unfortunately we ran out of water partway through and it was never refilled, so by the end we were all very thirsty. I'm not sure I would come back to this restaurant as it seems a bit overrated. Went there with my wife for our anniversary. It was amazing. The food was great, and the service was awesome! Highly recommend the Maine lobster/wagyu roll, any of the steaks, and the truffle mushroom pasta is to-die-for!!! Dessert was the strawberry shaved ice shortcake. This is our second time going to Catch LA. We mainly go here for the rooftop dining and the ambiance. Lots of celebrities usually come here so if you are lucky you may see someone famous. The service has always been great as the staff are very attentive and make you feel at home. Our server was great as she was super friendly and the speed of food service was just right. The food was a bit pricey but overall tasty. We particularly liked their specially sushi dishes, raw oysters and the A5 wagyu fried rice. Come to Catch LA for a wonderful dining experience and great food! There's no catch, I promise. See what I did there? Haha. My friends and I came here for my friend's birthday. We made reservations for 7pm on a Friday night. Friday nights can get busy, so be sure you get your reservations in early. Once you arrive, immediately there's valet parking when you pull up. There's other restaurants on the same street, so ensure you're utilizing Catch's valet, as the other restaurants won't allow you to use theres. Once we stepped into the building, you go up the elevator to the rooftop. That enough will get you excited. You're anticipating what is coming next. The doors open and you're surprised with a beautiful scenery, like out of a movie scene! The ceiling is draped in flowers and the entire place is decorated for Christmas. We came on December 1st. Lol. If you want the IG pictures and aesthetics, this is the place for it. Near the hostess station is a giant Christmas tree with lights and more flowers decked from side to side. I can't get enough of the decor. So pretty! Once all of our party arrived, we were seated. Our table was nice and there are floor lamps for heaters, so being cold is not an option. Lol. There are tables with chairs, and also booths, so I'm sure it'll suit anyone. Light is dim for that sexy ambiance, but enough to enjoy with family and friends. There's also a nice patio as well. We sat inside, which was equally cozy. The draped flowers that covered the entrance follows to the dining area. You really have to come to see it. It's absolutely gorgeous. Our waitress arrived and she was so nice. She told us a bit about the menu and some of the specials for the evening. We ordered cocktails first and then our entrees. We opted to share family style. It's a good idea so everyone can have a bite of everything. For my cocktail, I ordered the Lychee Sake. It was so tasty, and the presentation was beautiful as well. The girls ordered something with grapefruit and mint I believe. Onto the main entrees. We didn't really order an appetizer, so we had everything come out at the same time. Check out what we got below. Pretzel Bites 5/5 Pretzel was chewy and lightly salted with sea salt, and came with a side of house butter. My friend ordered this at the end of the night, so I was already full, but I did have a bite, and it was tasty. Main entrées: Branzino filet over rice. 5/5 The filet was nice and light, not fatty at all, with lemon or lime accents, all over a bed of rice cooked in cilantro and seasoning, and also had a nice surprise of chopped squash mixed in. It was delicious. Honey Miso Glazed Sea Bass. 5/5 This one was one of my favorites. The sea bass was light and flaky, and the miso honey sweet and gentle. Haha. Came with a small side of arugula salad. Mushroom Spaghetti 6/5. Lol This was top notch and my number one favorite of all the dishes. The sauce was sweet and creamy, and they didn't skimp out on the mushroom either. For a vegetarian dish, it tasted pretty meaty, and oh was it so fulfilling. I had to stop myself from licking the bowl clean. Haha Brussel Sprouts 4/5 Glazed in a vinegar and pomegranate sauce, this was OK to me. My friends loved it, but I think it was a bit too tangy for me. But still a good choice for Brussel Sprouts. Catch Roll 5/5 If you like sushi rolls, this one is for you. Salmon atop a rice roll, and the waiter does a fancy thing with the torch and glazes the top with some fire for you at the table. The roll comes with 5 pieces, so definitely order another plate if you're really hungry, but since my friends and I were sharing, we just wanted to get a taste of everything. I would say, this was more of an appetizer, just to get your taste buds ready for the main food. Haha. Dessert: Chocolate Cake 5/5 Since this is a celebration for my friend's birthday, we gotta have cake right???!!!! Catch didn't let us down on this one. We ordered the Hit Me Chocolat cake/ ice cream. The waiter placed the plate in front of the birthday girl, and pours over a chocolate ganashe. Ooo. The pour was so sexy. Haha. Then my friend takes her spoon and whacks the top of the chocolate barrier, exposing melty ice cream and chocolate. We sing happy birthday and dig in. You have to really come to check it out. Rich in chocolate, chewy cake, and sweet vanilla ice cream. Are you melting yet??!!!! Lol. I hope so. Overall, this tops my hit list for best dining experiences I've had. Catch in New York is one of my very favorite restaurants so when I finally got the chance to visit the Los Angeles location I had very high expectations. The good news is they didn't disappoint! From service at the front door to the table, we were treated lovely. Service was on point, and the food was absolutely delicious as expected. What I love about this location is the design with skylights and the cozy decor. You don't really feel like you're sitting in a bustling restaurant, it's more like kicking back in a lovely garden enjoying the company of your friends. Some friends and I went to LA to visit a friend who had moved out there, and for her birthday we went to Catch LA. We weren't so sure what to expect because we had heard mixed reviews but let me tell you, we absolutely loved catch LA! I find that most people are perfectly happy with the restaurant as long as it's aesthetically pleasing and the staff is kind and courteous. However, for me the food and drinks matter to. The food here was absolutely incredible. I live pretty far inland so anytime I go to a coast I crave fresh seafood. Not alot of attention at the bar, had to flag someone down since the bartender didn't seem to make eye contact with waiting patrons. We're seated on a gorgeous outdoor patio with umbrellas to enjoy a lovely birthday brunch. Cocktails: $19/each Every cocktail we had was so good! And thankfully strong! I always get skeptical paying almost $20 a drink but they are worth it. The MVP of the night was the Detox Retox!! Cucumber, matcha, vodka & lime. He didn't come to our table for water refills, or even warn us about last call (around 3pm) when the kitchen closes, so we missed out on ordering anything else. Gonna say something crazy here but Catch LA has fallen off in recent years unfortunately. Have been on multiple occasions over a couple years and the experience in 2019 is eons away from what it's like now in 2024. Favorites on the menu are the miso sea bass, the A5 Japanese miyazaki wagyu (cooking on hot stone on your table is a bit of a novelty but cmon its waygu its gonna be good), and the MRC roll. My dad still talks about the old fashioned's he had here years ago. Brunch overall is a miss in terms of food, shakshuka was as expected but nothing special. Skip the dessert you smack to break, its vanilla ice cream with chocolate, wow. The issue with Catch though isn't the food, its the ambiance in my opinion. What started as a beautiful rooftop that served as a backdrop to excellent food and service now feels like one big instagram trap. And Catch isnt the worst offender in this department of course, but for a higher-end experience, I expected it to feel a little more luxe and a little less like a photo op. read more

We started each with our own plate of truffle sashimi and so glad we did because it was delicious!!!! Oysters were amazing, as well as all the other cold items (yes we ordered all). Only 2 things we didn't quite like were the specials, the wagyu fried rice (I unfortunately wasn't able to have this because it had pork in it with Chinese sausage but my friends did say it's something they wouldn't get again. Also the yellowtail sashimi was fishy and we didn't enjoy that and would skip it next time. The Rolls! We ordered the catch roll and the wagyu surf and turf. OMG' never tasted anything like the combo of flavors in the wagyu surf and turf roll. It was absolutely divine!! The catch roll was also delicious!! Now the A5 Wagyu. This was our first time having it and so well deserved because it melted in our mouths like butter! It's super pricey though so not sure we'd splurge that much again, but totally worth trying. Arrived as soon as they opened - had to wait in a bit of a line downstairs but no problem for me since I didn't have a reservation. Salt-n-pepa was lovely. Steak, truffle fries, donuts, and tuna crisp were fantastic. The kale salad had an interesting dressing on it, seemed like a hint of mayo - I wasn't really feeling that but presentation was great. The donut carousel was super cute and getting to fill them with either chocolate, raspberry, or cream filling was the best! Ambiance was nice but we caught an early dinner. Great experience at Catch LA! I was first impressed by the beautiful decor. When you arrive, you take an elevator to the top floor where you are greeted with a walkway of beautiful lights and greenery hanging from the ceiling that lead you to the hostess stand. Our table was a cozy semi circle booth where we had a great view of the restaurant. I ordered the lychee cocktail to drink which I enjoyed. We ate pretzel bread (delicious butter!), crispy shrimp (definitely recommend), catch sushi roll, surf and turd sushi roll (my favorite), and my friends had the grilled branzino and grilled salmon, both with brown butter. All the food was delicious! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because we rarely saw our waiter after our food came out; it looked like he might have been the only one for quite a bit of tables, but he was excellent overall. read more

This is a tough one. I've been going to Catch LA for years now and have always loved the food. I still do. I've always had a mixed perspective as there have been positives and negatives and as of recent, the negatives definitely outweigh. To start, the atmosphere is beautiful. There is valet parking or a parking structure around the corner off San Vicente. It really is "instagrammable" which is part of the appeal. Here are some of the things that detract from the aesthetic beauty of the restaurant. It typically SUPER crammed upstairs to the point where you can barely walk or even sit at the bar while you wait for your reservation the way they suggest. The staff for the most part has always had a serious attitude and been really inattentive. There have been times in which I have looked past this just because I really like the food. Some of my favorite dishes are the "Baby Gem Caesar Salad", the "Crispy Cauliflower", "Parmesan-Truffle Fries" and the "Pistachio Cheesecake". All of which are gluten-free and can be made vegan. Now heres where my perspective took a hard dive south. I recently came here back this past April as a friend of mine made reservations for my birthday. We had a group of 5 including myself. The reservations were for 8:30 and we all showed up at 8:30 prompt. They told us to wait by the bar until we were called and they were clearly overbooked because it was PACKED in there. We stood near the bar area just being pushed every 5 minutes. About 15 minutes into waiting we asked the very rude and annoyed hostess and she said reservations weren't ready as they were waiting for an open table and there were other reservations ahead of us. We continued to wait. 30 minutes into waiting (with our reservation) we asked again and they literally just ignored us and said to keep waiting. I kid you not over an hour and 15 minutes into waiting, we were STARVING (it was late), all my friends felt terrible as this was my birthday dinner, and we were tired from standing (as theres nowhere to sit and wait). We were FINALLY seated after having complained for the 5th time. The waitress was friendly and all the food came out fairly quickly but we were just really upset at this point and just grateful to have any food in our mouths. We ended up leaving at like 12:30. We were tired and my friend forgot to sign one of the checks and they literally chased us out, very rude, very condescending and such an egotistical attitude which ruins the whole experience. It just sucks cause the food is great but the service and overall atmosphere of the staff is horrific. Their lack of consideration and attitude is repulsive. Came here on my 21st and was sadly pretty disappointed. We came as a group of 4, and ordered 4 dishes and one drink and each paid around $50 and came out of the meal still really hungry. For the prices of each plate, you get a really small, appetizer sized portion that will just make you hungrier. The taste of the dishes were not anything special, so you definitely pay for the atmosphere of the place and the aesthetic of their restaurant. Mets NYC standards easily. Good food maybe great and gorgeous outdoor setting. NOT quiet it's a very busy action packed scene there so def for a group dinner or something fun. Must check off ur la list. I like NYC location a touch more esp the club but this is a great outpost read more

Came to Catch LA to celebrate my friend's engagement and honestly, the experience was awful. The service was some of the worst I've ever seen. Our server had no clue about the menu or portion sizes, and was generally rude and dismissive. One of the dishes never even came out, and when we tried to cancel it, they still charged us. It took 30 minutes just to correct the bill. We even went up to the bar to ask for help and the bartender was straight-up rude, telling us to "go find your server" like we were supposed to wander around and track him down ourselves. This was supposed to be a special night, and it was completely let down by the staff's attitude and lack of professionalism. I've been to Catch several times before and never experienced service like this. Catch LA really needs to step up. Would not recommend going there until they change things for the better. read more

The food is great, the vibe is great, and everyone from the front desk staff to the wait staff was warm, friendly, and professional. The patrons though, that is a different story, I can't deduct any points for the people who visit the restaurant, but they are your typical empty-headed posers that have occupied the area. read more

This is the place to go if you are rich and/or famous. It was well out of our tax bracket, but my friends and I just came here for dessert. We had heard great things about the "Hit Me," a dessert that you get to help prep by slapping it with a spoon which causes melted goodness to ooze out, so we went here to try it on my birthday. The people working there seemed a bit annoyed that we were only there for dessert, but service was still good. They just rushed us through once they found out that is all we were there for. The dessert was tasty though. The bathroom was one of the fanciest I had ever been to. I did not know bathroom attendants were a thing, but now I do. We saw three rap artists and three social media influencers we recognized while there, so that tells you the type of high value clientele this place attracts. My friend said he would not be surprised if we ran into a Kardashian there. I would love to try their actual menu one day because everything looked sublime. I'll have to add it to the list of things to do if I ever get rich. read more

10/10. No doubt or regret. Let's start with the food. The food here is just chefs kiss and super well seasoned!!!! It's so delicious. We ordered the sushi and it's so cool because they also add fire on top of the rolls like a little show. It also has caviar on top which is very delicious. The sushi was great. Next are the truffle fries which is the whole reason of why I come here! It's so flavorful and delicious and comes with two delicious dips. Then the lobster Mac and cheese which is not just any ordinary Mac and cheese because it's so good and yummy. Lastly the filet skewers which have a delicious and mouth watering sauce on them. The service here is SOO good because it takes like 10 to 15 mins to get your food which is super quick and everyone here is so nice. Lastly is the ambiance which is also one of my favorites and is a 10/10. It's a rooftop restaurant that's like a botanical garden because they add beautiful plants to the roof and you also get a rooftop view. read more

Okay I know this place is super overhyped, but the food was pretty good and I had a great experience here. BUT, it is so expensive for such small portions!! Anyways, to enter, you are greeted by 2 people and they take you to the elevator all the way up to the rooftop to the restaurant. Then you see the infamous entry way with the beautiful flowers where everyone takes their pictures. The food is definitely quality over quantity. MRC Roll ($23) - Comes in 5 rolls. This roll had seared tuna on top and the filling was shrimp. It kind of resembled a california roll with tuna on top, but they had the freshest ingredients. The tuna wasn't fishy at all and it really just melts in your mouth. The filling was so good and it's something I have never tasted before. The ponzu sauce tied everything together and I wish they gave more rolls in one dish. They also used real wasabi, which isn't as pungent as the wasabi we are normally used to. Lobster Mac and Cheese ($30) - Okay this dish was like so small, it was the size of my hand LOL. It was pretty creamy and it was packed with flavor. They did have some big chunks of lobster, but I wish they added more for a $30 dish. The breadcrumbs and the grated parmesan added that necessary texture with the soft pasta. Filet Mignon ($55) - I really liked this dish, the filet mignon was so soft and tender, it wasn't chewy at all. The sauce they used was wasabi soy and it had a sweet tangy taste to it. But damn, for $55 I am expecting double the portion LOL. This was a good dish, but the price is a bit much in my opinion. Hit Me Cake ($20) - I am not usually a fan of chocolate, but heard great things about this cake, so I had to get it. It was surprisingly well balanced and the richness of the chocolate was not overpowering. This was a good way to end the night. Overall, I had an amazing experience. I recommend making reservations beforehand and don't make the mistake I made by getting fiji water because 1 bottle is $10 LOLOL. Just get tap water if they ask. However, why it gotta be so expensive? that is the only thing that is bleh, but the view is beautiful if you go for dinner before the sunset. read more

We were turned away from the restaurant (despite having a reservation) because my friend has a disability and wasn't wearing "appropriate" footwear. I watched them let in someone wearing dirty hiking boots, but not my friend who was wearing shoes to accommodate her disability. When we told them she had a disability and she couldn't wear other shoes right now, they told us that the dress code trumped disability. Absolutely disgusting behavior from Bruce at the front desk and the manager Walter. They couldn't even produce a dress code to validate their position. We went to Nobu instead. Never going to Catch again. read more
