I had a very disappointing meal last night after reading the reviews I was giving it a chance. The place is tiny the noise level with drunks screaming and swearing I find disgusting and no one tells them to stop. The waitress tries to shut them up to no avail. I wanted to leave but my friend talked me into staying for the good food. We order drinks and shrimp cocktail, the special Teriyaki salmon and a linguini with mussels. The shrimp cocktail comes in a reasonable amount of time it is good jumbo shrimp but on the over cooked side too much horseradish in the cocktail sauce. We are waiting patiently for our meal can barely talk to each other because of the noise level 30 minutes later the waitress shows up to tell us the Salmon is no good and I will have to order something else. We got to the restaurant at 6;30 it is now close to 7:30 and we have no dinner I wind up ordering the Caesar salad with grilled chicken because the rest of the menu is fried my friends mussel dish was ok. We finish eating and ask for the check and by the time she brings the check it is almost 8:30. I will not be returning to this dive. read more

I stopped in with my fiancée last night about an hour before closing. I had read some Yelp reviews prior so I could have a heads up about the place. The place itself is very cozy but modern with a slight touch of nautical decor. The inside is very tight and I could see how it would be uncomfortable when its at the peak of dinner rush. For that reason, I give it four stars instead of five. Now the food, service, and cocktails were superb! I tried their raw farm grown oysters with their signature sauce and it was fresh and delicious. I also tried the baked clam stuffies which had the perfect amount of breading to clam ratio and was seasoned perfectly. Lastly, our server, Michael, was great. He was very thorough in his descriptions of the menu items and how he prepares them. He also made my fiancée and I a cocktail he called the backseat boogie... That alone had me at the name! It was a well balance cocktail with floral notes but were not overpowering. I will definitely come in on a regular basis. read more

I heard of this restaurant through a friend when it first opened this past year and although it's far from where I live I never hesitate to jump on a train and enjoy the amazing food and wine served here! The food was really great! However, we went during happy hour where we thought all oysters were 1/2 off...after ordering a dozen oysters we received the bill thinking it would be around 20$ for the oysters. It turns out only the house oysters were 1/2 price. I personally don't eat oysters but my boyfriend was upset and said our server told us all oysters were 1/2 off. As college kids, we would have never ordered 12 knowing it would be that expensive. The miscommunication kind of upset my boyfriend however the food was amazing so it was a total loss. Growing up in Patchogue I'm happy to see the rebirth and wide array of new restaurants - Catch, for a small place really has it figured out. Since it's opened I've been back several times and bounce between a few of my favorites, such as the Oyster Po Boy, Crabcake, and linguine w/clams. My wife loves the fresh fish specials and the lobster roll is very unique. But if your an Oyster fan, the freshness & selection is great - I try to stick with the local oysters (for obvious reasons) especially from the North Fork, but if you are lucky enough to get the Power Points from Massachusetts - they were probably my favorite. The bartenders were friendly but it can get busy so I've waited for a drink, but if your patient they're made well - the owner is welcoming and willing to answer any questions or adjust for allergies. read more

Came here twice for a weekday lunch over the past few months. Both times were out of this world! I love the variety of oysters, super fresh. Fish tacos were amazing (you have a choice of ahi tuna or snapper. I got grilled snapper). Also had the shrimp po boy which was delicious also. The atmosphere is so laid back, and the food is great. I was craving peconic bay scallops... and we stopped here, and low and behold it was on the menu. We had a couple of drinks, and had the NE fried clam belly appetizer.. it was breaded so light, and BTW try some of their homemade hot sauce. GREAT! The bartender Jensen suggested a dish that was not on the menu for dinner. It was a home run. Peconic Bay Scallop scampi over linguine. It was the best dish I have had in a real long time. Hello? Is anyone alive? If you like waiting forever for overpriced tiny oysters, this is the place for you!

I'm sorry to be the spoiler here and I think this place has potential but it's no 5 stars. The layout is a cozy interior with high tables along one wall, a bar adjacent and some tables by the front window. A chalkboard tells you the various fresh oysters available along with the beers on tap. A good selection of Long Island brews to pick from. The menu is a bit vague. A little more explanation of each dish would help a lot. Fish sandwich--what kind? How is it prepared? Octopus salad--again, what's in it? I know you can ask your server, who, by the way, was very friendly and attentive, but should I need to ask him/her to describe every dish when it can be easily printed out on the menu? The soup I had, a seafood bisque, contained a tomato base. An interesting change from the familiar white cream base. It was thick and comforting. The clam chowder was also a thick bisque-like consistency with a nice mix of clam and potato. Here's where things took a turn. I did get that vague octopus salad. The octopus is grilled and the pieces placed upon a basic bed of standard bagged greens with a few halved cherry tomatoes. The octopus was nicely grilled but the salad was dressed with a sweet dressing that just killed the octopus. Not a big fan of sweet salads. There were also slices of some kind of small potato in the salad that had been deep fried and were now just soggy and tasted only of the oil they were fried in. If the intention was to add texture, it didn't. I also had a fish sandwich. It was a grilled ahi tuna on a bun. I took one bite of this and the tuna was fairly raw and tasted very fishy, not the good sushi kind of raw taste. I understand that grilled tuna can be rare in the middle but not this one. I had to send it back for another minute on the grill which they did without issue. The sandwich came with potato chips, a pickle wedge and a shot glass size serving of cole slaw, also pretty sweet. Because of the tuna issue, they graciously comped me the 3 raw oysters I had ordered at the beginning of my meal. A very nice gesture. The unfortunate ending to all this was that I was hit with a horrific case of Montezuma's revenge when I got home. I had eaten nothing else after that visit so it was either a bad oyster or the tuna. So I would suggest less sugar in the food, something more exciting than potato chips as a side dish. If you are just looking for a place to get a decent beer and something to munch on with that beer, you might want to stop here. Just stick with the well cooked stuff and ask for descriptions before ordering. read more

Just left this bar--ordered at 350 pm, apparently happy hour started 10 min later. Server did not inform us of happy hour starting imminently. I've found over the years that the most important part of feeling satisfied is how well reality matches your expectations. The food here is fantastic. Incredibly fresh (they have a house oyster that comes from their own farm in Peconic Bay) and very well prepared (although Catch is only 2 years old, the family has been in the restaurant business for many years). However, if you're expecting a large place with room to stretch out and low prices (outside of happy hour), you may be disappointed (as one reviewer recently seems to be). Check the menu online for pricing so you won't be surprised and know going in that it's small and tight. But if you want delicious seafood and don't mind paying for it you'll love Catch. How could anyone complain about a happy hour that offers oysters caught fresh that morning for $1.25 each and $ 3 beer? read more

This place is so amazing!!! I have been here so many times and each time I am so amazed by first and foremost, the oysters!!! I always get the fire island blues which is their house oyster, so salty and fresh.... just perfect. The service is amazing, and the chowder is off the hook. Extremely overpriced for what you get. Almost 30 for a lobster roll that barely had any meat on it, served with potato chips. 7$-10$ draft beer. Tasteless food will not return. Bar was unfriendly, and at least 4 staff members were drinking throughout their shift, such an embarrassment. read more

I suppose I should have known better than to expect good fried oysters at a raw oyster bar. They were perhaps the worst fried oysters I have had. Overcooked and it appeared to have been smashed flat on each side. They looked more like fried chicken tenders than fried oysters. What makes it worse is that I ordered an entree portion of a dozen.
