Lobster Roll with fries and cold slaw at Castaways.

Great food. Great service and Great VIEWS. We always have a wonderful lunch here at Castaways. The staff is top notch. We had the Crab Cakes, the Lobster Roll and the Lobster Bisque. We enjoyed everything. The shaded area was much appreciated as we could eat outside and enjoy the Lake Ontario views while not getting a sunburn.

Went there again this late afternoon and continues to be the most down to earth, beautiful service and overall ambiance as we sat waterfront eating 3 delicious meals!

Was looking forward to dinner at Castaways for a long time. Unfortunately it didn't meet my expectations. The server was abrupt, no eye contact, very curt. The menu selections were great as was the view. Nice seating indoors, outdoors under a cover with heaters, or right out on the open deck. The steak was overcooked and tough, a little of bites uneatable, vegetables luke warm, potatoes were not hot seemed like they had been sitting around. The Mediterranean haddock was very soupy and had a lot of feta to the point it was overpowering. I couldn't really taste the fish. I would like to try this restaurant again in hopes of a better experience.

Service!! The waitress was rude. She brought my soup entree out 20 minutes before my partners entree. So we didn't really eat together. The view is spectacular though

Come here during sunset just for the view as the food isn't that great and also pricey. There are chairs on the edge overlooking the lake, so you can come here for a drink instead of dinner. We came here for a date night. As you walk into the back, the view of the lake is gorgeous as you dine. To start off, our table had the Bruschetta Bread ($10) with 4 pieces of bread. The melted cheese on top was something different, but a nice starter. For my main course, I had the Seafood Saute ($39). This was essentially a linguine pasta topped with various seafood. The broth was salty, yet bland. It was also a bit messy to eat with the shells from the clam and the noodles splattering around with each bite. Because of how pricey this dish was, I managed to eat most of this dish even though it wasn't that appetizing. I did also get a side of vegetables that came with the pasta. I also tried some of the boyfriend's New York Strip Steak ($39), which was a bit overcooked. The food is more of 2 stars and really lackluster, but the view is great to bring up a star here.

The dish was delish, we say outside on a lovely deck overlooking the lake. Our waitress was very attentive and fun. The wind came up and the temp went down a bit she provided a heater. All in all it was great.

The view is amazing! The food (fried haddock sandwich and buffalo chicken wrap) were both excellent, as were the drinks. I only gave it 4 stars because the service was pretty slow today. But we will definitely be back!!

First of all, the view of Lake Ontario is the best anywhere around Rochester. This is the place to go for a summer sunset. The interior is a little dated, but the bathrooms were clean. The menu is seafood heavy, but 2 out of 3 of us are not seafood lovers and we enjoyed our meals. I had the Prime Pork Porter House Chop with mushrooms, roasted red peppers finished with a marsala demi glaze. I opted for no mushrooms and this was a delicious, perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful chop. I recommend the Shipwreck cocktail as a summer must-have. We split a slice of carrot cake which was delicious, since our first choice of Italian lemon cake was sold out. I don't know if desserts are made in house, but they're good. I wish I remembered to take food photos, but only took sunset photos. The food is good, but not the star of the show.

Castaways on the lake in Webster was the chosen destination for our date night dinner. We did not have a reservation so we did expect that there would be a wait time. We were told 20-25 minutes by the very young hostess and then about a half hour later I checked again where I was told it would be another 20-25 minutes by the same hostess . It was okay though as we got lucky and there were 2 barstool's available so I got a cranberry and vodka short which was $9.00 and my significant other just got a glass of ice water with lemon. The bar tenders were very busy but the older one was pleasant and took a minute to exchange pleasantries with us so that was nice. When we were finally seated outside the view was worth the wait. Our waitress came a short time later and took our drink, appetizers and main dish order. She was also very pleasant but very busy. Our stuffed mushroom appetizer came a short time later they were hot and tasted okay I have by far had way better stuffed mushrooms elsewhere. When our food came a short time later it wasn't worth the price. My significant other got the broiled haddock with the rice ( that was the best part of his meal) and a vegetable. Because his haddock tasted okay as the rest of his meal did. I got the vegetable cakes a vegetarian version of a crab cake. Which was good it could've been a little warmer and the Cole slaw was very good but the French fries weren't warm and were definitely not to my liking. So all in all we paid $100.00 which included tax and tip and it wasn't worth it. The view is the only thing that made the evening worthwhile.

You are there for the view, not the food. Service was great, servers were so friendly. The food is simply a meal, nothing special. Had the jambalaya which was watery. The crab cakes were regular crab cakes. We had drinks- pretty in color, low in alcohol content.

$50 for a beautiful view of the lake but definitely not worth the price for quality and portion size of food. For lunch I chose the lobster roll. There was 2 large pieces of lobster and the rest was like shredded claw meat. The roll was not toasted. The side of macaroni salad was a joke. The fries were good! My boyfriend had the broiled haddock which was good but again not worth the price($18) It took awhile after we were seated for someone to acknowledge us and bring menus. The waitress kept walking by us and we watched as she cleaned off tables. She delivered the food and never came back to check on us. We were done eating and then she came and asked us if we wanted refills on our drinks. Ice tea ($3.95) which is steep. Tip; do not sit outside if you have a bee allergy as lots of bees, It was nice to take pictures near the water.

Worked with Castaways to cater my picnic wedding in 2018 - the price was very reasonable, food delivered on time, and very tasty!

I have ordered two different omelettes on two different occasions now: an egg white with spinach and mushroom and a meat lovers. Both were quite overcooked and the meat lovers seemed like a thin sheet of egg that they filled with toppings later on like a crepe. Additionally the meat lovers side of rye toast was obviously burnt but still served to me, I just ate around it for a few bites and gave up. My husband ordered fish and chips the first time - I thought the batter was tasty and enjoyed it though I think the filleting of the actual fish could have been a lot cleaner. This item is the only reason my review is not a one star, I thought it tasted good. The second time he ordered clam chowder and a salad that had chicken, fruit, nuts. The salad was fine nothing wrong but not a stand out either it seemed similar to something I'd get as a salad kit from the store. The clam chowder though was awful, so thick and gelatinous it seemed like it was canned which is already a red flag but one of those canned soups that you're supposed to add water to and like they forgot to do that part. On top of being weirdly thick it was also cold you can tell they didn't heat it thoroughly whether that was in a microwave or not though I can't really tell. I truly don't understand the hype or reviews for this restaurant given we've tried multiple items and for the most part fell flat with the sole exception of the fried fish. I was disappointed given the expectation from other reviews and unfortunately we won't be back for a third try.

Right before my friend got there an older lady, a manager or maybe the owner told me I could only have my table for an hour. What? She showed me her reservation list. So?? It's not my fault that the restaurant was overbooked. I thought this was incredibly rude. My friend and I discussed going to another place and we were told that they would just make the other reservation wait until 6. My friend and I both worked in the food service industry for DECADES. I have never been told or told anyone they only had an hour to eat. We said we didn't want to feel rushed. I'm from out of town we were catching up. We were not planning on camping but an hour was simply not enough time. We are not rude so we ordered as fast as we could. We didn't ask for more time. We got garlic bread as an appetizer. They brought over some complimentary zucchini marinara or something. We both ordered chicken French and our food didn't arrive to our table until nearly 5pm. At some point the lady came to tell us that we didn't have to rush some other ladies were willing to get up. Thank you for letting us know, but it was incredibly tacky to tell us multiple times how long we could stay and what their plans were. And yet they still kept looking at our table making it very uncomfortable. We really only sat there for 15 minutes after our bill was paid. We were gone by 6. The original time we were told we could stay until. The garlic bread was okay. It was just their dinner rolls sliced in half and grilled/toasted. The Italian wedding soup was mostly vegetables (huge vegetable chunks). A few meatballs, some stringy chicken and a very few noodles. The broth was good. The chicken French was excellent for the most part. The spaghetti noodles were short. Almost as if they broken and impossible to twirl on fork to get a bite. It was messy, slurping noodles was so embarrassing. I ended up having to leave most of my noodles on the plate because I had to give up. It was a nearly $29.00 dish. I had specifically asked our server to put the garlic bread on my check since we were paying separately. She ended up splitting it between our checks. I wasn't happy with that. I wanted to pay for it myself. We tipped very generously each over 30% for apparently the huge inconvenience we caused. Giving this place a 4 is also generous. I'm not sure I would come back here again. For it being both of our first times coming here-the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. The ambiance is nice, the lighting is good but the whole debacle with being told how long we could stay and then "not realizing we had a reservation she thought we were walk ins. " The food presentation (huge obvious towel swipe on my dish-hope that was a clean towel and there wasn't any cross contamination), the soup may as well been called Italian vegetable soup and the short noodles making it impossible to enjoy a pricey dish... the dessert menu is also lacking. Maybe giving it a 4 is misleading.

I've been here a bunch of times and every visit is a flavor adventure. The star of the show is definitely their sausage selection. What I absolutely LOVE is that they have different, creative flavors changing each week! One week it might be a mind-blowing sun-dried tomato and basil, the next a spicy mango habanero, or a classic hot Italian that's just perfect. It keeps me coming back to see what new concoction they've dreamed up. You can tell they use top-notch ingredients - the quality is just fantastic. But it doesn't stop at sausage! I was so thrilled to find out they also have pierogi! They are SO good - tender, flavorful, and a perfect complement to the sausages or just great on their own. It's like a little taste of Eastern Europe right here in Webster. And then, just when you think it can't get any better, you spot the cannolis. Oh. My. Goodness. Crispy shell, creamy filling - they are the real deal and the perfect way to finish off your visit (or, you know, to eat in the car on the way home, no judgment here!).
