I'm only giving this place a 3 star review because one girl makes the whole place shine. Her name is escaping me - but you'd know who I'm talking about if you've had her as a server (she's amazing). As for my experience tonight (4/13). I was essentially turned away over an hour before closing because they "sent their kitchen staff home for the night." As someone that's worked through both high school and college as a server, never in my LIFE, have I seen the kitchen staff go home before the servers. I asked to confirm they shifted to only drinks since I checked their hours prior to coming -"open till 9:00pm". They confirmed the cooking staff had left. Absolutely ridiculous. This isn't on the employees - this is either a management or ownership issue clearly. As any customer, how would you feel, finding a place, parking, paying for said parking, and then going to a restaurant with friends, family, or a date - then BOOM - no service sorry we didn't address that??? It's not the public's problem you've had a, "slow" night for an, "hour and a half" - that's simply a you problem - and the employer should swallow the cost of one bad night. This is the type of behavior disgusts me. If your business is open online, no updated times or menus - be open. That's how these types of review(s) develop. read more

We went for happy hour and ordered beer, chips and salsa, pork carnitas tacos. They charged us $6 for a second bowl of salsa. The chips were very mediocre; maybe from a bag? The pork carnitas tacos were mid, at best. I make better pork carnitas Service was fine, nothing to rave about. The only good thing was that their salsa was very unique and good. Took a trip to Seattle this weekend and it had been years since I've visited. But I do remember going to Casco Antiguo and loving their corn mash and fun atmosphere. Took a couple friends with me for dinner, we had a good time but left a bit disappointed. Food was good. Service was ok. But the surprising part was there are no free refills on sodas/iced tea. It was not noted on their menu nor mentioned by our server. We each had a couple refills; they had Diet Coke, I had iced tea. And you'd think if they were charging by "can" they would bring the can to your table so they could have the whole thing. So you can imagine our surprise when the bill came and it was almost $40 in just soft drinks. I'm not one to be cheap but that seemed a little sneaky. We were headed to an event but 1) we were early & 2) we were hungry. So we popped into Casco Antiguo on the way from our Seattle hotel to the Museum of Pop Culture. And we are so glad that we did! It was happy hour so the house tap margaritas were $9. Blanco tequila, triple sec & fresh citrus with a salted rim. A delicious margarita - we may have had two! We needed a nosh to go with our cocktail so we selected the Antiguo Nachos: corn tortilla chips, refried beans, house queso, roasted veg, chipotle crema, pickled red onions, serrano pepper & guacamole. The nachos were excellent! The chips were layered with the toppings, good amount of queso, freshness of the pickled red onions & a HUGE scoop of guacamole on top. All for $12! We sat at the bar & the bartender was attentive, fun & informative! He found out that hubby loves hot sauce so he whipped out the trio of house-made hot sauces. The hottest (green) was almost too hot for me but not nearly enough heat for hubby. The bartender had one more super hot sauce behind the counter which was nuclear. Hubby was so happy! Then the bartender shared another special concoction he created - an even more spicy mixture house-infused serrano pepper liquor to go in their hot pepper margarita. Came with a big group of colleagues after work for HH. Food was good, drinks were solid and reasonably priced for HH. The mocktail a colleague got was the same price as an alcoholic beverage which is always weird. Service was surprisingly lacking considering we had a larger party. Nice location and the ambience was fine. 3.5 stars and rounding up to 4. I would come back but manage my service expectations. read more

Had really good vegetarian nachos - very flavorful and I paired it up with the sangria from the happy hour menu. The sangria was very sweet for my liking but refreshing nonetheless. My husband, a couple-friend of ours and I were in Seattle for the weekend and decided to go here for dinner. We all like Mexican food so this place seemed ideal. The vibe was ok, but a little "cold". We had to ask for ice, the waitress misunderstood my beer request, my friends' burrito was stone cold and had to send it back 3 times before it was hot enough. We were told this restaurant doesn't have a microwave. The waitress said she would take it off the bill but never did. I know Seattle is a bit expensive, but we paid $6 for a 3-inch bowl of rice. This was so foreign to us as we're from L.A. where there's a great and affordable Mexican restaurant around every corner. We felt like the waitress acted like she was doing us a favor by being there and were bothering her by "complaining" about the temperature of the food. Did happy hour here and it was really yummy! From 4-6 you have great food options ranging $10-$16 on top of drink specials. Service was really friendly and quick. The space is really large inside so this would be great to grab happy hour with coworkers after work! With Amazon being back in office it does get busy here now just fyi. Delicious! Two of our recent favorites were on the menu, one was the mole enchiladas and the other was the Birria Quesadilla. We stopped in for a bite during the busy lunchtime rush. We were quickly seated, and our waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. We devoured chips & salsa in a hurry, and ordered our favorites. The Mole Enchiladas were served 2 to an order, and were very filling. The mole had great flavor and the enchiladas had a good portion of chicken. They were very good, hit the spot and I would order again. Three people at our table ordered Birria, all with resounding compliments on the flavor. Great spot to grab lunch or dinner. Service: Mixed...woman at the front was trying to be helpful, but the other staff was rude and told us we needed 75% of our part and they wouldn't take our name, so we left. We walked around and came back. When we came back we were told that we could get a table and they'd take our name...wait...20 minutes ago we were told we couldn't put our name down. The two gentlemen that tried to get us seated were much more willing to help us. That's why there is 2 stars rather than 0 or 1. Unfortunately, our server wasn't very attentive. We never got our water refilled and we had to ask for utensils and napkins. Ambiance: Cute, nice outdoor space, but if it's busy you'll have to wait. Tips: 4 gender neutral restrooms by the front, which was nice. Order apps and drinks first or your entrees may arrive before those. At happy hour...don't expect them to help you too much. Also, once you pay...don't expect to get any service after...sometimes even after you pay you may want another drink or more food. Unsure why this spot gets so much hate! Had a team lunch here as it's right across from the spheres. It was a sunny day and the patio is spacious and the interior is stylish. It's definitely not your most "authentic Mexican food" but it's your classic, aesthetically plated, "contemporary" Mexican spot. I liked the variety of protein options on the menu as well as the variety of menu items. Tried: -Chips & Guacamole & Salsa ($11): Salsa had a nice kick and the guacamole was nice and fresh! -Plantain Empanada ($10): Beautiful plating and loved the sweet filling, -Al Pastor as Bowl ($11 + $5): It was supposed to come with avocado but didn't? Also I have a thing against undressed kale but there wasn't much of it so that's okay. The Al Pastor was tasty and loved the pineapple. Other items people got were the birria quesadilla ($18) and flautas ($9) and those looked amazingly cheesy. I tried a bite of the mole enchiladas ($15) and those were okay! We started with the house marg - it was as expected but even at happy hour prices definitely not a steal. We got the birria quesadilla plate (which came with no sides) and the carne asada plate. This place was great in the sense that right after we were done touring the Amazon Spheres, it was right there and we were so hungry! We got a stable and waited 10 minutes for water and a server (please stop seating people at restaurants if you can't give them water right away. Put a self serve giant pitcher at the front door with a trash can and some compostable cups - and put us on a waitlist!) We started with one server and in the middle of it all he looked like there was either an emergency or he quit. We saw him grab his bag and leave. There was no acknowledgement from the staff that someone else was going to grab the table until someone else just casually slid in and helped. Miss the Casco Antiguo in Pioneer Square but loving the one in SLU. Came here for HH yesterday with friends. Loved the outdoor covered seating great against rain and hot sun. Staff is friendly from hostess to server. We had items of the HH menu make sure to have a QR reader app on your phone. Three of us had the rotator cocktail which is the special of the day that changes. It was a guava margarita the day we visited. One of my friends. had a spicy Michelada. Two of us had the tacos dorados and the other two had the flautas de queso. All were $8 each except the Michelada cause it wasn't on the HH menu. I always forget how strong their margaritas are not complaining here. Food came out nice and hot and the garnishes were fresh. We got here around 3:30 had to wait about 10 minutes or so for a table to cleared and get cleaned. Worked out well cause we were waiting for two of our friends to arrive. Definitely would return. COVID is no where close to ending so I was surprised to see all the staff with no masks on. Luckily we got seated outdoor. This is not up for debate, as she was thick, creamy, and most importantly offered me a first class ticket to Flavortown. When they ask you if you have room for dessert, the answer is yes because those churros are insane (maybe it's the dolche de leche on the side). Located across from the Amazon Biosphere, Casco Antiguo has done a great job at maintaining the physical distance in and outside of the restaurant. With FREE parking (weekends and after 4PM weekdays. Any other time, make sure you bring your parking stub for validation.) in the underground Amazon building its just a quick walk over. We opted for a seat inside due to the chill, yet they do have ample out door heated seating of that's your thing. They strictly encourage you to wear your mask (good job) if you are not at your table. We got there just in time for happy hour (3PM-6PM daily) and this is what we ordered: Chips with salsa and guacamole $11 HH Flautas De Queso (tortilla roll & stuffed with cheese then deep-fried) $8 HH Tacos Dorados (think potato and cheese hand pie and deep-fried) $8 HH Tinga De Pollo Tacos (braised chicken tacos) $8 HH House Tap Margarita $8 Everything was fantastic and fresh, but hands down the best thing (IMO) was the homemade guacamole. I would have slathered it on every single item if there was enough of it. It was perfectly seasoned and tasted amazingly fresh. The Flautas were also great and has a great cheese pull (one order was 2 pieces). Great food, location and free parking. What else can you ask for? The service was extremely unprofessional. First, we ordered one taco each, but the waiter brought two for each of us. We didn't make a fuss and just accepted it. Then, when we ordered drinks, he got our order wrong for a second time. After that, he left, and we were served by another waiter for the rest of our visit. When it came time to pay, the original waiter seemed upset that we hadn't tipped him. He actually demanded a tip from both my friend and me, asking for our cards to charge it. I refused, explaining that he didn't deserve a tip. His service was subpar from the beginning, and tips should be earned, not expected or demanded. Beyond the ubiquitous friendliness, creativity, and skill of everyone behind the bar, back of house, and on the floor, what keeps me coming back is twofold: a decided lack of pretension and anticipation of needs. Between getting the kids prepared to go since we actually there for food, not just to sit, and the walk out the front door we still were not acknowledged. I'm somewhere between 3.5 and 4 here - the food was pretty top notch (salsas and chips were really good, main entrees were pretty good but sat waiting to come to us where we saw them for at least 6-8 minutes before they hit the table. The dessert pushed it over the edge; the churros were off the chain! The inside and outside areas looked cool and was very clean wherever I looked or observed.
