YAAaSSS BEIGNETS!!!! This place should be called "BEIGNET KITCHEN" since these sweet buttery delightful treats will put them on the map. Absolutely to die for. The lemon curd was a tasty accoutrement that balanced nicely too. Get these now!!! And make sure they're making them fresh. 5+++++ stars! Billie Nillie - Perfectly cooked and flavorful fried chicken, crispy breaded bacon, pretty over easy egg, solid mushroom gravy all atop a fresh biscuit. We loved it all! The mushroom gravy could had been warmed a bit more and had fresh mushrooms but it was still a delish dish. Appreciated all the substitutions since it was the perfect plate for us. 5 stars. There was a bit of a wait for food, but we appreciated piping hot beignets and fried chicken. The floor and our table needed a little bit of a cleaning but I'm wondering if it was just an off day. Very friendly host/server. Excited to go back for those beignets!!! read more

We came on UO's graduation day to celebrate my graduation. There was only two workers and I think they felt quite overwhelmed because it was a Monday and might've not known it was graduation. The food took awhile to come out but came out still hot. We had the beignets which had a crisp outside and were a nice not too sweet treat. I had the hash plate which I felt like the hash was a bit greasy, and i wasn't the biggest fan of the hash browns, but overall it was good. I know that this restaurant is new so they're still getting used to it but I think that maybe having another worker would help tons. Everything had good flavor but each thing contrasted a bit in my opinion. I will come back for sure and hopefully with time the service will even itself out! read more

First off, we were greeted by the sweetest employee, excellent start. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, the lucky clucker, coffee and a mimosa. Everything was perfection. The gravy is perfect, egg cooked perfectly, amazing biscuit, thick bacon and perfectly fried and seasoned chicken. The fried green tomatoes were also perfection. I'm actually surprised at the 4.1 rating after trying cascade biscuit. 45 minutes to get our food. Only 1 person working. I question the food practices here, saw a giant pan of gravy on the counter with a box fan blowing in front of it. The place just was a bit cheap feeling and tables were dirty. Biscuit and gravy was extremely bland. Looked so good but when I took a bite it just wasn't very good. Biscuit tasted like it had too much baking powder. Bacon was awesome though, super thick cut. Would not go back. read more

The hype is real! I had been having this place suggested to me for weeks and finally had the chance to try it on a Sunday morning. I was worried because I have read reviews about this place not having table service and seating being limited. On a Sunday morning I figured would be the worst time to give it a try but here we were. We arrived about 9am and to our surprise, no line and plenty of seating. Ordering is counter service as stated. We had plenty of time to sit and look at the menu before ordering. The food sounded great on paper and I was hopeful it tasted great too. I ordered the lucky clucker and my husband had the ranch hand. I also got a biscuit on the side for later and beignets. The BEIGNETS... good lord, take me to fried dough with lemon curd dipping sauce HEAVEN! Both of our meals were huge. The chicken was amazing and the gravy is seasoned to perfection. I ordered the biscuit on the side because the one in the meal gets lost in the sauce so to speak. I assure you, the biscuit by itself was the real deal. Coffee is self serve and limited to cream and sugar but this isn't the Cascade Coffee Station. Bussing your table is also the expectation. I will say that the place was hopping with a line out the door by 10:15 so plan your visit accordingly. Seriously delicious eats! read more

Service was nice, friendly and they are keeping the place clean and inviting. Downtown Springfield could use a new breakfast /brunch place and I was glad to see them opening. Unfortunately I was not impressed by the food I ordered. I was in the mood for biscuit and gravy and ordered the Lucky Clucker. Honestly the only thing it had going for it was its size, an enormous biscuit drowning in white gravy with thick pieces of fried chicken, a slice of thick bacon and a sunny side up egg on top. It looked very appetizing. But, the gravy was flavorless even when I added a dosing of black pepper and some salt to it. It simply had too much flour to it to be tasteful, it was pasty in my mouth without flavoring. There was so little sausage in it that my tastebuds did not pick up on it at all. The biscuit itself was baked right, doughy and puffy. The fried chicken was off as well, very bland and over- cooked, not pleasant, quite tough. The breading was okay but had a weird flavor to it. Like it had been fried some time ago and received a second short frying right before serving.... Bacon was thick and smelled good, but again, it tasted like it was old and more jerky than crips bacon. The egg was done perfectly. The egg was also the only thing that came out hot, the other parts of the meal were lukewarm so the gravy was congealed which did not help it at all. We had to try the beignets, as I read multiple reviews that they were good. Indeed, they were good. We had three and the outside was nice and crispy, light and airy on the inside. Just like the ones in New Orleans. The lemon curd served with it was delicious. But again, they were NOT hot at all, just warm. I really wished I could leave a better review but the food will have to pick up flavor and temperature to deserve more stars, IMO read more

I've been here twice with my family. The biscuits are good. The breakfast meats are excellent, they buy good sausage and bacon and they cook it correctly. The coffee is diner-grade coffee, and it would help some if they simply made it stronger. The country fried steak is diner-grade, probably bought as a frozen prepared, and good enough for me. The "rich sausage gravy" is disappointing. I would guess they open a #10 can of industrial country gravy and warm it up like almost every other diner does. No aroma or flavor to it. With their excellent breakfast meats, they could make a big batch of killer gravy, and even mix in some of the canned gravy to stretch it out and this would be a 4 star review. Improving the coffee would be the other step. It's a cute enough hole in wall type breakfast place, I will return to try the chicken and waffles. read more

Fast service, the place looked clean, on the smaller side, but still roomy. Our 1st time there, I ordered a Yellow Glow, from the menu. It was good, but way more than I could eat. Next time I will probably order a couple things ala-cart. My husband ordered waffles and a half order of biscuits and gravy. He said it's really good, but the gravy was over kill on the black pepper. I tasted and felt the same way about the pepper. read more

I think this place could be excellent, however, I thought my experience overall was okay. First it's self serve, your order at the counter, get your own water/drinks, grab your own seat, and silverware and napkins are at your table along with salt pepper and some hot sauce. Im okay with this but I thought our container that held our silverware looked dirty. Second, when ordering I was informed that the eggs are cooked in the oven. I don't think they have an actual stove top. Eggs come sunny side up only. My wife is not a fan of super runny eggs. The order taker said she could cook them so the whites are fully set. I think that's should be standard as whites are not meant to be runny. So you're not able to get a different style egg. Third, while I did feel the food quality was good most everything needed salt badly. The need to season better to begin with. Fourth, most of my food was lukewarm warm at best. I did notice that someone in the back assembles the plates except the eggs and the plates sit under a small heat lamp that did not appear to cover all our plates. They were waiting for the oven cooked eggs which come out last. Finally, everyone was friendly and staff seemed happy. I didn't experience a long wait as mentioned by others but it was empty on our arrival. Not sure if it was enough for me to return. read more

Recommended for anyone who truly likes gravy-based, enormous breakfasts. We couldn't even finish half of each of our breakfast plates. The food was good, but not earth shattering. Biscuits are big and fluffy. Gravy is probably pretty good - I'm not a big fan of sausage gravy, but that being said, I thought it was better than most. Fried chicken and chicken-fried steak were tasty. Sausage was severely overcooked. I had the "Sherman's March" which is relevant, but I'm not going to make a separate list of components, but it's everything mentioned above plus a fried egg. Good place in Springfield. We are in town during a roadtrip and needed breakfast. I ordered the Corn Beef hash plate and everything was tasty (but my potatoes were cold) My wife said the jam for the biscuits was homemade and delicious. Overall a decent breakfast but with wonky service and no decaf coffee served (seems to be common nowadays) ! Place was packed with a steady flow of guests. read more

I haven't written a review in years but I HAD to shout out about this business. I usually stay in Eugene when visiting my college kid but saw the reviews for Cascade Biscuit Kitchen and some were not glowing. The fried chicken is really good even if you don't love fried chicken. The beignets were out of this world served with perfect lemon curd (which I usually don't like) and marionberry compote. My kids had a waffle which had a slight hint of cardamon and wasn't crispy but soft. I am sure you can make a request if you prefer a crispier version. The eggs come over medium which worked for me. The vibe of the space is warm and homey which reminds me of places I enjoyed in the early '90's in The SF Bay Area and parts of NorCal. The staff were warm and kind. The clientele is a nice mix of folks which is something I am nostalgic for living in the Portland Metro. This place hit every mark and then some. read more

Oregon has such an interesting obsession with recreating a southern kitchen, and I'm still trying to figure out why. There were all the nods to it from the hot sauce and peppers in the table, to the pimento cheese. The biscuits were light and airy but not dry, and the gravy was rich and thick. The menu had a great variety without being overwhelming. My favorite part of my meal was the fried chicken. It was juicy, crisp, and tender. The potatoes had decent flavor but were a bit soggy, and my food was lukewarm on the verge of being cold- which is a big turn off for me. Service was friendly but nothing spectacular; no complaints. The feel of the kitchen is the same feel that Bartolotti's had- casual and comfortable counter service, in fact they didn't change much! If I were to come back I would get the chicken by itself and a biscuit with jam. read more

I ordered chicken fried steak with homemade hash potatoes and a biscuit smothered in country gravy. The flavor was good, texture was tender, and portions were generous. The meat patty was commercially made and i believe the gravy was as well. The biscuits were moist and freshly baked. The potato dish had a nice spice to it but the sticky texture was not my favorite. The flavor was a little subtle for me. read more

Our first visit to Cascade Biscuit Kitchen caught them very soon after opening. Found them between Tavern on Main and Washburne Cafe. Small space with an order at the counter set up. Staff is friendly and fairly attentive however they did seem a bit discombobulated. Consequently I watched many orders sit on the counter for up to ten minutes before being delivered (including my own). This is where they lost a star as I'm a stickler for hot food. That being said, the gravy was very flavorful and the biscuits were good. I ordered the Lucky Clucker and it was all very good except that the gravy was a bit congealed and the egg was a bit rubbery. Hubs ordered the Ranch hand and he thought it was really good. We shared an order of beignets which were DELIGHTFUL! We both agreed that a chocolate sauce accompaniment with them would have been chef's kiss- over the top. Their menu is extensive with lots of southern options. The bacon is self proclaimed "ridiculously thick" and it was good and tasty. I didn't have coffee but the hubs wasn't a fan of his. ( he drinks it black so he's usually a fair judge of the coffee). All in all it was a good experience, I'm hoping that with a bit of practice they'll work out the kinks in food disbursement. We'll definitely give it another go and hope to add a star upon a revisit. read more

Been to CBK a few times and have noticed the same thing twice. Food looks and tastes great though on both visits each dish we ordered outside of the beignets were barely lukewarm which puts a real damper on more future visits and to the dining experience. Serving hot food will improve your business IMHO. read more

I hate to be this reviewer.... But my visit left me 60/40 on no/go again. I think a browse through my many reviews will show that I offer praise and stars like it's an Oprah episode. But today I cannot. It must be said up front that the staff and the premises were great. But I didn't come here to have a laugh, I came to eat. So onto the food.... I was very excited by the offerings on the menu. I still think trying the catfish and Mac & cheese are on my list. But on this outing I went with the Ron Swanson. Why?.... because "I know more than you" lol Ron Swanson is cool. The bacon looked incredible, so too the sausage. I was excited to try the B$G. After the dust settles we didn't eat our fried tomatoes, and the sausage, the grits. I posted through the eggs, which weren't bad at all. And I made myself eat the bacon. Because it tasted a lot like bacon. Again.... I know taste is a subjective thing. And I HATE giving negative reviews, especially when I desperately want this place to succeed. But I'm hopes that management reads these things, I offer my friendliest of suggestions. Our food came to us room temp warm, the sausage tasted like it was fried in a pan that had just been cleaned with 409, and the bacon was... well.... Hard to describe. It very much looked like the fattest bacon I ever saw, but tasted like those super dry beef sticks that randy savage use to promote on t.v. Of course I can say my gravy blows this stuff out of the water, but that's back to the subjective part. Some folks prefer their gravy to taste like warm milk & flour--which was my impression here. Loved the people! Loved the plane. Just hoped for a hot breakfast in my face. And sausage that tastes like sausage. I'll be back to try their lunch offering. And remember.... I was really excited to try this new breakfast spot in downtown Springfield. But damn was it a let down. I'm not sure I understand the trend towards no table service. The experience was, in a word, chaotic. Having to stand in line to order (which you have to wait until a table opens up, causing a bit of confusion as new people arrive not to mention the waiting area is the bathroom hallway), get your own (luke warm) coffee from a carafe on a stand next to the register and then you have to bus your own tables in the end (don't miss this step, the cashier will yell across the restaurant to remind you). When they got busy, they literally asked people to leave the moment they were done eating. Paying $20 per person (plus the tip we regretted leaving at the time of ordering) for a meal served in a "fast food" environment that takes more than 20 minutes to be served - it's just not a pleasant dining experience. On to the food... If you want biscuits and gravy, you will be happy, but I strongly suggest getting it to go. The biscuits are fluffy and have great buttery flavor. The gravy is well seasoned and a good consistency. They do not ask how you want your eggs - so they all come out Sunnyside - which is only to say the yolk is on top. The eggs are rubbery and unevenly cooked because they sit under a heat lamp for a bit waiting to be brought to your table. The bacon is definitely good, but the sausage is pretty bland, as are the country potatoes. Portions are really big, so that's a plus, but it's just not enough to make us want to come back. read more

Up front, the food is okay, a bit plain though in flavor. Service is where this falls apart. Self serv coffee and creamer, given that you can get up to the counter amidst the other guests who are placing their order. Our order was delivered very broken, with 1 or 2 plates hitting the table with longer breaks between the rest of the order arriving. Atmosphere is very basic. Picnic tables( although nice), I guess for the cost, that I would prefer to be fully served in a more complete restaurant environment. Haven't returned after our initial visit. read more

Service was fine. The food seemed "off", not in a spoiled way but rather the execution was lacking. Waffle had a crunchy texture, and not just the crust. The whole thing was almost cookie like. And super sweet. No need for syrup because it was like a mouthful of sugar. We weren't asked the style of egg when we ordered so it came sunny side up. Biscuits were chewy and a bit leaden. The sausage and bacon were lukewarm and dry, I assume because they were precooked. read more

Had breakfast there this morning. Really it was more of a breakfast/lunch because I left super full and was totally stoked on my meal (and the rest of the one that my companion couldn't finish). Small eaters might consider sharing a plate but I feel like if you got a big appetite this would be an ideal stop for you. Wish I still drank to the point of hangovers because I'm sure this would hit the spot on a rough morning. I can't remember the names of the biscuit sandwiches we had but mine had carmelized onions, chicken fried steak and an over easy egg and gravy. My companion had fried chicken (super moist), bacon, egg and cheese (seriously good bacon btw). We also had beignets. I preferred the yellow jam that came with them. read more

It's a smaller intimate setting and you order at the front before you get a table. Most of the staff were friendly. The chicken was seasoned nicely and came out fresh. The sausage gravy was cold as well as the biscuit which was frustrating and the grits came out cold as well. I will say the flavors were good though. I just wish everything would've came out fresh and hot. read more

Pro- the ambience is casual and outdoor sunshine seating available. Con- Always review your receipt. She snuck a 20% tip after I selected none. I prefer cash tipping after food experience, not before. read more

I think they moved into this space recently as I remember another restaurant being here before. That restaurant was much more territorial with their parking spots and had signs everywhere telling people not to park there if they weren't customers, but those signs are gone now which is nice. Everyone here was super friendly and lovely. I love the mission of this restaurant and will definitely be back to continue supporting them in the future!

We started with appetizers--tater tots, fried Brussels sprouts, and garlic herb fries--all of which arrived promptly and were delicious. We placed our entrée orders shortly after, and while the food came out over a 5-10 minute window, everything looked great and tasted just as good. The menu leans toward the pricier side, with burgers ranging from $18-$22 and mac and cheese at $17 (plus $5 for pulled pork), but the quality was solid. One small surprise: we were charged 50 cents for two to-go containers (25 cents each). It's a minor fee, but still unexpected given the overall pricing. All in all, it was a pleasant experience with good food, a relaxed atmosphere, and great company. Just be prepared for slightly higher prices--and a charge for your leftovers.

She also advised that she would add an additional discount for the fact that they didn't have multiple menu items. However, when we were given our bill, it was for $100 per person. Given our drink was $15 there was no discount and they actually tried to charge us more than what was stated on the menu. Valentine's Day is meant to feel thoughtful and memorable. Unfortunately, this felt disorganized and overpriced for what was delivered. We left disappointed and would not have chosen to dine here had we known this would be the experience.
