Wait time: 5 minutes, must have reservations! Atmosphere: very elegant and appealing, lots of people Service: there is no better restaurant service than a Ruby's restaurant! Food: best steaks around, came out exactly as ordered. Price: $$$$ Cleanliness: 10/10 Ask for the history of the building! Amazing past and how they came up with the name!

We go a few times a year for special occasions. We have yearly NYE reservations. Usually the service and food is impeccable. However, this year for NYE was less than impressive. The service was slow and honestly, not even decent. Waited almost 45 minutes for our dinner. The server was literally ghosting us. We saw her to place our order, give us our bill and ordered a dessert to take home with us. It took her over 30 minutes to bring our dessert and that's only AFTER we asked where it was! She "forgot" to bring it out! Super disappointed with our service. For a $400 meal for two, I absolutely expected better service. I can't say we won't be back, but I will say this was by far the worst experience I've had here. And we were seated next to the fireplace which was unbelievably hot making our already poor service even a worse experience. All in all, I have to say, I could have gone to outback and had a better experience and saved $300. Pretty disappointed.

Came for one of my Bestfriends birthday and had a good time. Our man server Chandler was pretty great but the lady who sat down the bread and butter seemed to be in a rush or not interested in helping our table. I did however asked chandler if there was another flavor of the espresso martini I could order but he never got back to me with an answer. I ordered the prime skirt steak and truffle fries. The chimichurri that came with the skirt steak was some of the best I ever had and same goes for the truffle fries. I had the opportunity to try the Brussel sports, chicken Parmesan, Who Dey roll , Shrimp Tempura and Filet Scampi. To me the scampi was kind of salty. Some of the people I came with did have to send their food back to be cooked longer but the manger was really nice about the whole thing. If you don't like salt I would say don't get the bread! I made a mistake and bite into the crust and it was not pleasant. It is ever nice inside the restaurant and I'm glad I got to learn about the history of the building as well.

Been here many times and got a steak and the wife got the chicken so there are plenty of those pictures. Started off with oysters, east coast and west coast. I always do this as this is the only time I get to eat them since I am the only one that will eat them. Got our meal and as always it prepared well and delicious as well as the sides. It was our anniversary and we ordered a dessert but our daughter called them to have a dessert flight created for us. It was delicious and I have to say the staff is always top notch. I've been to all the other Jeff Ruby's restaurants and I enjoyed them all but to me this is easier for parking and the tables are more spaced out.

Every now and then you deserve a little indulgence, and Carlos & Johnny's never disappoints! This month they offered a special $65 surf & turf menu, and it was absolutely worth it. The food was amazing -- perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The service was just as impressive: friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. On top of that, the atmosphere is always lively and fun. It's such a great spot to relax, enjoy a fantastic meal, and hang out with friends. Consistently one of my favorite go-to places when I want a memorable night out. Highly recommend!

The food at any Jeff Ruby restaurants do not disappoint. Overall a great fine dining experience at Carlo and Johnny's. The waitress was super nice and friendly and attentive. The sushi, wedge salad and filet were all on point. I was a bit disappointed at the beer temp. Both of my Mich Ultra's were slightly cooler than room temp. Had to put ice from my other glass into my beer to help it out. Also, not complaining but just advising that dining here takes longer than normally expected. Our diner from start to finish took almost three hours. I was ready to go after that. All in all the food is amazing and definitely I would recommend it to see for yourself.

Carlo & Johnny continues to deliver one of the finest dining experiences in Cincinnati. The atmosphere is timeless, the service is attentive, and every course feels like a celebration. We started with six oysters were fresh, briny, and beautifully presented on ice. The tuna tartare followed, light and flavorful, setting us up perfectly for what is hands down my ultimate favorite: the blue crab bisque. Creamy, rich, and decadent, it's the kind of dish you'll think about long after you leave. For the main course, we shared an 8-ounce filet, cooked to perfection and topped with mushrooms and plenty of garlic butter. Paired with one of their signature blue cheese-stuffed martinis (truly the best martinis in town), it was unforgettable. To end the night, we tried the peanut butter mousse cake. While it was decadent and well-executed, my heart still belongs to their chocolate cake, which I'll definitely go back for next time. From start to finish, Carlo & Johnny embodies everything you want in a steakhouse - flawless service, indulgent dishes, and an atmosphere that makes every evening feel special.

We worked with the Jeff Ruby team after a challenging first visit, and they took our feedback and were wonderful about everything, making us feel heard. Our second visit was excellent; everything was detail-oriented, food was great, and overall an excellent date night. As much as the steak was great, I have to recommend the Caesar salad as a surprising winner; I'm usually not a salad guy but it was easily one of the best ones I've had.

Great service and amazing as always! We came to celebrate our anniversary and it happened to be the lobster and filet special. That's a great deal! We love celebrating here and they always do a superb job.

This was our second visit to this restaurant. We were greeted immediately after entering. We had a reservation and was early, but still had to wait. We were a table of five. I love the antique feel of the property and its historical flair. We were greeted by several staff members while at our table. Our server, a Michael Douglas look alike was helpful and engaging. Our food was delicious overall. The bread was just okay, but I don't like rye. We chose a meatball appetizer that was pared with grits. It was flavorful. We chose a delmonico steak entree and a Duhon pork chop. Our sides were garlic mash and mac and cheese. Our food portions were substantial and we were able to finish our food for lunch the next day. Cookie and cream ice cream was a tasty treat to finish the night.

Beautiful place full of stories and character. Classy, yet relaxed atmosphere. I had the petite filet mignon, and it was cooked to order just perfectly. Unfortunately, I did have a couple of bites that were not chewable. We had a side of baby carrots and these babies were quite large and plentiful, but fresh & tasty. Finished with the butter pie and it was outstanding. Overall, wonderful atmosphere and great food. The only real negative is their pricing, which is way above market (and that's in any market).

We had an 8:30 reservation, our server was good but I could tell she was ready for it to be over. Not the service I have come to love from this brand. The filet was delicious but was undercooked. My husband and I both asked for medium but both steaks were definitely medium rare. I was there for a birthday dinner and did not want to complain about my steak being undercooked. A bit disappointed though. The vibe was nice and the live music in the bar area was perfect. We were seated upstairs and I loved that. I still really enjoy this steakhouse.

Wow! What a way to spend our 1 year wedding anniversary! I loved this place…read more It has been a few months since eating here but I still find myself thinking about it. Our next trip to Cincinnati; It will be extremely difficult to stay away from here. We spent the day in Newport and around Cincinnati and wanted somewhere nice for the occasion. I was iffy on this place at first... you can throw a rock all over America and hit a place with 'Barrel' in the name these days. The Yelp reviews swing both ways here but I'm here to tell you my take... because it swings so far towards the 5 stars that it's very much a 6 or 7 star place(maybe more). We gauged our arrival time based on other activities that day. We wanted ample time at the nearby Lego exhibit so when we arrived there, we made a reservation for 4:30-5. Eating early and making our way back to Louisville was a great idea. The entire time we were there, no one else came in so we had the entire place to ourselves(It was a Friday). The atmosphere is homey but during busy times, I could see it being noisy. The booths could easily fit 6 people comfortably... probably 8 in some cases depending on how wide some of you are. Special Note: This place highlights The Parrillada Experience for Two on their menu and we wanted it! We didn't order it because at a price tag of 130-and pictures online, we didn't want it to be a failed outing. After our first trip, The Parrillada Exp will be on the agenda next time. It's a mixture of different steaks, sausages, shrimp, sides, and salads. Definitely worth the cost. On to the food: Sausage App - Argentine Chorizo. Farmhouse Sausage. Grilled Ciabatta. Hearts of Palm. Green/Red chimichurri. Pepper Relish. I don't like ordering this type of dish when I go places because you never know if it's going to be delicious or very bad. It ended up being super delicious. We couldn't make up our mind which sauce we liked the best and which meat we liked the best. App PERFECTION! Land and Sea - This is what my wife went with. Asada Skirt Steak. Jumbo Shrimp. Asparagus. Red chimichurri butter. I had bites of the shrimp and it was good. I had to save room for my dish. Wagyu Denver Cut - I went back and forth. Lobster ravioli being on the menu almost made my decision instant but I was going back and forth between ravioli, steak, and a few other things. I asked the server which he recommended of the 4 Chef's cuts. He recommended two... one of which was the Wagyu so I went with it. I wasn't disappointed AT ALL. He mentioned that the Wagyu Denver Cut was a new addition to the menu... I'm not sure but you could definitely tell it was cooked, arranged, and presented with care. I savored every angle of every bite. We also ordered a side of brussels because of course! Originally we were going to dessert somewhere else but went ahead and ordered the Hazelnut Vanilla Creme Brulee here. Perfect ending to the meal. This brulee was light and had the right amount of crunch. It was also larger than expected. We had no complaints with this place. Easily one of the better restaurants I've had in Cincinnati. If you're doubting visiting this place, take the dive! Other notes: They have beer and a small cocktail variety but they primarily seem focused on wine(plenty of options to choose from).

For us, having Cole Thompson as part of the team caring for us was an even bigger highlight. Cole is one of the kindest and most skilled servers we have had in Cincinnati. He has an instinct for exactly when and how to serve the table so as not to interrupt the meal. He takes quiet initiative to make sure everything at the table is as it should be. He is relatively new, and his hiring tells me new managers, like Daniel, are steering the restaurant in the right direction. Friends, I have been avoiding Ruby's ever since I took my out-of-town relatives there last year, and was completely embarrassed by the obsequious service we received. It was truly awful. It was cringe. The server enquired of, and kept calling my guests by, their first names. All the server had to do was see the looks on their faces and how they recoiled every time the server approached the table to see this was not appreciated. The meal was all about them, the servers. Their constant dialogue about themselves was disturbing and jarring. It was obvious to me that this patter was being taught. These servers were being formally trained to run the table as if it were dinner theatre. Gruesome. Therefore, I made this week's reservation with some trepidation. However, having Cole Thompson serve us changed all of that. We will be back again this month. Foodwise, the Freddie Salad is delicious. The king crab legs and jumbo prawn cocktail are exactly as they should be. I would appreciate a few simply prepared green vegetable offerings to pair with the steak. And for the menu items at Ruby's, the more simply prepared are the best. (By the way, "rare" really does mean rare for steaks at Ruby's! All other steakhouses in the area serve medium rare when rare is ordered.) I think Ruby's needs to bring in a young, innovative but classically trained chef to address how meals are plated and served, and to tweak the menu a bit. I think they need more flair and care at this price point. The organization showed this kind of intelligence when creating the new space, which feels fresh while still delivering the coziness imparted by tradition. The same constructive approach to the food would be intelligent.

In general, the food felt underwhelming for the price. My bill was around $100, and I didn't feel the quality or flavor justified it. I didn't care for the beer cheese, probably because I was expecting a more solid cheese product. I would describe this more as a cream sauce. It didn't seem to have much cheese in it and was very 'liquidy'. Also the ramekin was only half full. If it had tasted better, I would have asked for more, but as it was not, we didn't even finish what was given. I thought it was a bit pricey at $12.95 for one large pretzel. On the other hand, the poutine was fantastic! A very unique take on the dish with a mix of cheese curds (although they reminded me more of pieces of mozzarella sticks), french fries and Andouille cream gravy. I ordered the fish tacos which consisted of Blackened Salmon, Thai Chili Sauce, Black Bean Corn Salsa, Pico de Gallo. My order came with two and they were fantastic! Since Blinkers is known for steaks, I will have to give them another try at dinner time.

I am a not a huge seafood person - the minute I cut into it I smelled the sea which was a turn off and I wasn't a fan of the texture but once I cut into tiny pieces and mixed with the sauce and the proscuitto I was able to actually find myself enjoying the dish plus boy did it look pretty coming out! The chefs table is nice because you get to watch everything be cooked - the mac and cheese looks amazing every single time - omg I must try it sometime. My waitress was phenomenal with purple and blue hair and the glittery eye shadow. She was so attentive and helpful. The steak was so juicy and cooked perfectly - I think next time I would get a larger steak or the grilled shrimp option as I wasn't the biggest fan of the lobster tail but still finished it. The salad was okay - I wish it had ranch instead. I also got the orange cream cloud for dessert to go which was shockingly light, airy and delicious - the citrus flavors with the passion fruit are so refreshing. I can't wait to come back and try something new . The place is beautifully decorated and they offer free parking options - the music is very low so you can have a conversation and even the chefs table wasn't too loud even though it was right next to the kitchen.

They allowed us to bring our own cake. They brought it out on a cake stand for pictures and then took it in the back to cut and serve it to us. They also had a card on the table for my parents. It was a wonderful celebration. Best smelling bathrooms in the city. Love the house wine, the bar, the patio, and the service!

The first time we went they gave flowers to all the women for Mother's Day. This time though they're weren't flowers, they were very accommodating. My grandmother had an issue with her food, they remade the entire meal though it did take a while they gave her a treat for the long wait. The server and manager were very friendly and apologetic for the inconvenience. The food is 7-8/10. It always comes out fresh and plated nicely. I ordered their chicken sandwich and that was good! My family shared a lot of our entrees, I feel their poultry and seafood are their best. The pork chop though tender, wasn't incredibly tasty. I have not tried a beef dish. The dessert was delicious! The manager recommended eating the pan a cotta and pan de crème together and that was soooo good! It was a nice, light dessert but very tasty! I would definitely recommend trying it
