We just had an amazing date night at The Lonely Pine Steakhouse! The interior has been delightfully refreshed since their closure last year, and reopening this spring! It's got that coveted feel of cozy mid century modern, while the decor says you could have wandered in for a nice steak after driving out west headed for the desert. The chairs were very comfortable at the high top we were seated at, which isn't typical. The standard seating chairs were beautiful and looked even comfier! The massive wooden and brass bar is definitely the star of the show, and was packed the whole time we were there. My husband got the Dame Prue as his cocktail, it was gin based with rosemary and fresh flowers. It was beautiful and he said it was delicious. For the appetizer and salad, we split the foccacia bread and butter board with the herbed butter, ruby butter, and cowgirl butter; and each had caeser salads. I can honestly say it was THE best Caesar dressing I have ever had, and I'm a caeser snob. The "half" salad portion was definitely larger than any other side salad I have had recently. For dinner, we split the 24oz T-Bone, Mac and Cheese (the smoked gouda takes it over the top decadent!), and thyme braised onions and mushrooms for our entree and sides. For dessert, we got the Tres Leches cake to go, because neither of us could eat another bite. They were exceptionally busy tonight, but our server Becky was apologetic and kept us laughing. We were willing to wait for a truly farm to plate meal, and the wait was worth it. I am itching to go back and try some of the other options on the menu, it was hard to choose between all of them! We have been wanting to try Lonely Pine steakhouse for a while since it reopened and maybe they were just having an off night, but I was disappointed. We started with poutine as an appetizer and part of the appetizer was warm and the other part was cold. We ended up eating it anyway. The chef salad was very good and we split that. When our entrées arrived, I got the petite fillet, which was 6 ounces for $42 with no sides included. I ended up getting the tail end of the filet and half of the 6 ounces was literally not edible. The steak lacked flavor and was one of the least tasty steaks I've ever had at a restaurant. My husband ordered the flank steak and he said it was fine, but nothing remarkable. We spent $200 with two alcoholic drinks. When you spend that kind of money, I want to be a little more impressed. read more

Absolutely fantastic experience here. - Excellent atmosphere. You can tell they put a lot of thought into every detail of the experience. - Food was perfectly timed. We never felt like we had to rush through a course to the next one. - the staff is so extremely friendly and accommodating. - we were not sure about bringing our 5 year old daughter with, but it turned out to be an excellent decision. She especially loved the s'mores dessert with house-made marshmallows. The wait staff was so sweet with her, it really made the experience that much better for us. - the food was incredible. So much care is put into every menu item we tried. The steaks and all the sides were fantastic. Honestly the chef's salad was such a standout to me. We went to Lonely Pine Steakhouse tonight to celebrate a friend's promotion, and everything was spectacular! This was my second time dining here, and under the new ownership, they are absolutely doing an amazing job. Both the food and service have been outstanding each time. I had the filet with the carrots, and I can honestly say they were the best carrots I've ever had! The seasoning on the steak is truly amazing, and both times I've eaten here, the steaks have easily been some of the best I've ever had. Everyone at our table loved their drinks from the bar, and the bartender was incredibly friendly. It was also really cool hearing about where the food is sourced and the thought and care that goes into the ingredients. If you haven't been to Lonely Pine since the new ownership took over, I highly recommend giving it a try. I'm still trying and learning about all the options but its always changing with the season (Literally my favorite thing about a really talented chef, use the seasons to make the flavors match the mood). Second, Chef comes out and talks to people and askes for and cares about the feed back!! I'm so excited to see all the new things she comes up with!! Ask those who have been there. Delicious!!! As a foodie, I'm usually excited to explore new spots and this dinner had some highs and rock-bottom lows. The Cowboy Ribeye and Tomahawk steak were fantastic. They were perfectly cooked and flavorful, and the broccolini and potatoes were great sides. The Chilaquiles were a complete disaster. The waitress sold them hard, so we decided to give them a try, but they were ridiculously salty. One bite and it was like your taste buds were completely overwhelmed with salt. The chips had a strange, almost Dorito-like flavor, but not as good as Doritos and between the 4 of us we couldn't finish the dish. To top it off, these awful Chilaquiles were priced at $68, which is basically the cost of the Tomahawk steak! It was so frustrating, especially since it was my friend's birthday dinner. It completely killed the vibe and left us all with a bad taste, literally and figuratively. I'll be back for the steaks, but I'll be skipping that overpriced, inedible mess next time.. Let me say first and foremost, service was excellent. The restaurant is cute, the utilize the space exceptionally. We've had some great experiences before the changes. The food in my opinion is not seasoned (steaks for example) or best preparation. The oysters were dry, burnt and just not appetizing. We also had a an appetizer with 4 figs, greens, bread and a local blue cheese with drizzle of balsamic. The bread was dry, barley warm, the figs were good and cheese was fine. The cost, $62.00 was bananas. I left alot on the plate. I expected the dish to be like a deconstructed baked brie, like I've had at Ripple or Five on Vine. I buy local cheese at Rhined, Urban Steed and Murray's etc. Recently had a board at Louvino and one of cheese I ran out to buy. It was local as well. I know it can be costly but $62.00. They were courtesy and kind about it, I'd even say generous. PLEASE know, I do not mind paying for good food but it needs to be reasonable. Me and Lonely Pine will have to part ways at this point. Incredible 32oz ribeye, Maddy (Chef/Owner) knows exactly how to cook a steak that size to a perfect medium-rare. Our server, Becky, was so sweet and seems to thoroughly enjoy working for Maddy & The Lonely Pine. Great dirty martinis and I recommend their espresso martini as a dessert drink! We had our steak with the ruby butter (very bright flavors), herb butter and horseradish cream sauce. Paired with the cesar salad, everything was a flavor bomb. We went expecting the quality of the great steakhouses in Cincinnati. We all experienced the same thing no matter the beef that was ordered. They all looked good upon presentation, cooked to the requested level but all were very tough upon eating. Prime beef was what was expected, but the toughness of all the meats brought into question whether Choice beef was even presented and brought into consideration that Select was on our plates at Prime prices. Definitely have become a regular at the Lonely Pine. Found in a strip mall, this small, unassuming restaurant packs a huge punch overall. The atmosphere is relatively darker and captures, mildly, and older feel. There previously was a butchers fridge putting meats on showcase. Last time we went was to celebrate our anniversary. We ended up sitting at the bar. The chairs remained comfortable and with backs, so no issues. Full menu service. Our wait staff was very kind and on top of it. Doubled up as timely in getting our drinks given we were at the bar. Admittedly in our last visit my wife and I felt we were served food that was if not already, nearly spoiled. Specifically our onions and mushrooms tasted a little funny, to put it politely. The steak tender, juicy, flavorful per usual. I heard about the lonely pine steakhouse happy hour - $1 martinis (max 2) and oysters from 5-6 wed-Fri and knew I had to check it out. When we arrived, we were treated with a complimentary taste of white wine and offered our pick of seating - anywhere was accessible for the happy hour. Our waitress was super attentive and got our orders in immediately. We opted for 2 dirty martinis and upgraded to blue cheese olives (as you must) and 6 oysters. The martinis were perfectly crafted and the oysters (not pictured because we deleted them) were crispy with some breadcrumbs and seasonings that were absolutely delicious. 10/10 would recommend - probably one of the best HHs in Cincinnati read more

The complementary champagne upon arrival for some of our guests was a nice touch, but after that, everything fell apart. The place was relatively crowded, and there seemed to be an ample number of employees, but it took over 50 minutes to get a round of a round of drinks. Our appetizers and salads came before the drinks and by that time we had also run out of water. Things continued to breakdown from there as we had to ask 3 to 4 times to get anything we needed like more silverware, a cup of ice, etc. One of our guests waited for over an hour just to get a wine glass and their excuse was that too many people had ordered wine and they didn't have any clean. When the glass arrived, it was placed in front of the person with no offer to even pour the wine or an "I'm sorry for the wait." We had to help ourselves to silverware at a nearby station, and too many at our people ordered the 6 ounce fillet so the waitress asked everyone if anyone would mind them substituting a 9 ounce fillet instead, which of course was an up charge on their end. She never came back to let us know what was available so it was going to be a good guess as to what showed up at the table. Some of us were charged for 9 ounce fillets, but we didn't know it until the bill arrived. Every steak looked the same size and even the waitress was confused about who got what. The server had no idea whose drinks belonged to whom, nor did she have any idea who had ordered what plate of food. The food was good, but the service was absolutely horrendous. No one apologized, no one seemed to be able to help us on our first second, or even third request, and then we were asked to give them a good review as they assumed we were pleased with our experience, but we're not asked such. As a longtime residents of Pleasant Ridge, we were excited this restaurant had come back, but for such a tiny space and for the price point they are trying to charge, service has got to be top-notch, and this was not even close. read more

Sorry but the Ambiance is a 2 out of 5 . Why anyone would ever come here is beyond me. We ordered the Cowboy steak and it was so so 2 out of 5 . You could not pay me to eat here again ! - steak was cut up ( I did not ask to have it cut up ...who does that ) - 3 hours later all my joints hurt SO BAD ! This only happens when I eat some type of meat that is not natural, some type of preservatives in it. All I can say for a $100 steak , is we got ripped OFF ! We visited Lonely Pine for my birthday dinner and I'm so glad we did! Upon entering, we were offered a small glass of champagne, which really set the mood. The restaurant itself is a little dark and moody, and decorated nicely with mid-century vibes. The old fashioneds were perfect, and the pimento cheese appetizer was delicious. I had the petite waygu 8 oz; it was tender and cooked perfectly. I ended up taking half home though because I was so full from all the sides. I did the asparagus and zucchini veggies sides; the asparagus was amazing but the zucchini was just okay. We also did the crispy potatoes and Gouda Mac and cheese for the table. The potatoes had a great flavor but were maybe just a little overcooked for my taste. The Mac and cheese was excellent. read more

I visited Lonely Pine in combination with the Christmas pop-up next door. They have the same owner, and I'll tell you the entire experience from start to finish was stellar! Upon walking in, we were greeted with a champagne toast and led to our table. The service was amazing, attentive, and very friendly. The food was very delicious. I got the broccolini as an appetizer and the filet mignon, macaroni, and fingerling potatoes for my entree. The steak was prepared perfectly, and the macaroni was literally some of the best restaurant macaroni I tasted! It was really hard not to order a second order! I finished my meal with the tres leche cake which was also good. I do wish it were a little sweeter, though. My best friend took me here for my birthday. Two things made me smile as soon as I walked in - seeing my friend and being offered a small glass of champagne. They were also having happy hour which included $1 martinis! The service was wonderful - everyone was friendly and helpful without hovering. I was surprised that they had bone marrow as most places don't. I'm a somewhat adventurous foodie, so I tried it along with my friend who had it before. The food was delicious! Ironically, our ribeye cap steak was underdone to both of our likings. I didn't want to say anything because it was her treat,. Finally, we admitted it to each other. Lonely Pine is not a classic steakhouse experience. You won't have a huge selection of wine or an endless list of non-steak entrees for the diners who didn't actually want to go to a steakhouse. And while the setting is intimate and thoughtful, I would hardly call it fancy. Biz caz will serve you just fine here, if not be slightly overdressed depending on the clientele that night. Instead, going to the Lonely Pine feels a little like going to your fancy friend's house, the one who knows good food and drink but has maybe forgotten a bit how other people eat and drink. And as long as you're along for the ride, that is totally fine. The bar is select, with carefully crafted signature cocktails. The wine list is short. The menu overall is curated, carefully considered, and not very large. But all of this adds up to a dinner experience that feels special and unique. Our evening began with a glass of complementary bubbles at reception. (Well, actually, back up to us walking in five minutes late because we circled the block twice looking for parking. Here's one area where, say, a Jeff Ruby has this place beat: valet parking.) Anyway, free sparkling wine, won't complain about that. We were led to a table near the back of this cozy, not very large restaurant. The noise level was average, and the interior comfortably dim--not glaring by any means, but certainly not dark. The chairs were immensely comfortable. After a quick glance through the drinks menu we ordered cocktails: the Spanish G&T for me (a festive gin and tonic garnished with pink peppercorns and a whole sprig of rosemary) and the Belle Star for my husband (a sour tequila based drink that I liked less than the SGT). As we waited for our starter, the server dropped off a little plate of snacks from the kitchen: two kinds of pickled veggies and house-cured bacon. The plate was...strangely large for the amount of food, but a delicious amuse bouche. The bone marrow appetizer was perfection. Three large roasted bones, served hot, over a pool of pepper jelly (more like a coulis really) with a stack of rye toast. One of the best bone marrow presentations I've had. We ordered the Caesar and garden salads as well, both of which were huge--we could have split one. For entrees, I had the petite tender filet and my husband had a smaller version of the cowboy ribeye that was on special that night. The steaks were very different (you could definitely taste the effect of the dry age in the ribeye) but both cooked to a perfect medium. The broccoli dish on the side was really well done, not an oversight at all with a tasty CinSoy miso sauce and Urban Stead cheese over top. (Love how many other local businesses are represented on the menu!) For dessert, we split the Mexican chocolate creme brulee, which featured a chocolate custard lightly spiced with cinnamon and just a hint of cayenne. I've had other Mexican chocolate desserts that want to slap you in the face with the heat, and this was not that at all. The lime-y gingersnap on the side was perfect. All told, I think the limited menu speaks to the care that has gone into each dish. Nothing we ate felt like an obligatory menu inclusion. Nothing felt run-of-the-mill. Each course and item felt special in its own way and relentlessly intentional, which I love. I wouldn't take a picky person here, or someone looking for a classic steakhouse experience. But for the slightly adventurous eater willing to trust a bit of their experience to the kitchen, I absolutely recommend it. read more

The Lonely Pin Steakhouse is a place we have been wanting to go to for sometime, then Covid happened. We were lucky to visit on day one of reopening!!!! We went for a date night celebrating each others accomplishments. Greeted at the door with complimentary champagne and then quickly to our table. The evening was great with phenomenal service and food in an unrushed atmosphere! We receive another complimentary appetizer from the chef that was so pretty and equally tasteful! We started with the bread basket and then both ordered steaks and sides. I had the petite tender that was cooked perfectly and topped with a delicious herb butter. To pair with that was fingerling potatoes and their ooey-gooey gouda packed macaroni and cheese. We were so full we didn't make it to dessert, but we'll save that for next time since we will have to come back! Such a great dining experience! read more

I wanted to like it so much more than I did! It's a nice warm space, feels intimate - great for a special occasion or date night. Appreciated the glass of champagne while we waited for our table. Our server was very friendly and helpful. So here's the down sides. Our server warned us that they do things more on the rare side. I said I'd like medium rare, and as long as it was medium rare that was ok. The filet came out black and blue, extremely rare. It was cool in the middle and chewy as a result. Also, I thought it was odd that my 8oz filet was pre-sliced. Let me cut into and enjoy my own steak. It was still tasty, especially with the side of onions and mushrooms and Mac n cheese. Or maybe it was the champagne and cocktails that made me too hungry to care. Cook temps on steaks are not subjective theories subject to interpretation by the chef. Medium is medium, rare is rare - it's quantifiable. I don't understand why a chef would feel the need to replace a customer's request and preferences with their own. Almost like they think they know better. I was hoping for that beautiful melt in your mouth medium rare, and that's definitely not what I got. The scallops on special were great but they came on a bed of lukewarm grits, which was a bummer because the grits really did have great flavor! The Caesar came with excellent, fresh greens but the plate was almost half the size required which made it hard to eat without spilling bits onto the table. For the price (over $200 for 2), I think I'd rather go to another steakhouse for my next special occasion. read more

Want great steaks, a casual atmosphere and prices that won't break the bank? Then this is your steak place and you should check it out ASAP. We went to dinner around 6 pm on a Friday night. Though they do not take reservations we were able to be seated immediately. The service was great along with an inviting atmosphere. Now let me get to my favorite part... the food! We ordered a 16 oz Cowboy with mushroom and garlic butter, 8 oz Ohio Wagyu fillet, potatoes, seasonal vegetables, bread basket with tallow-butter curd, 1 large scoop of Aglamesis Bros Banana Chip Ice cream and the Triple Citrus Crème Brûlée. Everything tasted fantastic and I couldn't stop thinking about my Wagyu fillet. I felt like I was flying and in an emotional state of pure bliss!! Only fantastic steaks make me feel this way, so yes, it WAS DELICIOUS! The Cowboy was a flavor bomb, dry aged for 30 days and cooked to perfection. The Ohio Wagyu tasted as expected; tender, lean and wonderful. If you are a garlic or mushroom fan, I recommend to pay the $3 extra dollars for these butters. Definitely worth the calories. As for everything else we tried, they were great. The other big highlight was the ice cream. It tasted like a frozen chocolate banana (one of my favorite desserts). Honestly, this was one of the best scoops of ice cream I have ever tried. If you've never tried Aglamesis Bros ice cream, you must order this as dessert. With all of this food, our meal came out to be around $80 dollars per person. However, we splurged on this meal. If you come here and order a side with two steak entrees you can easily lower this cost to around 40-50 dollars per person depending on what you order. The 8 oz Wagu fillet was only $29 dollars! Come here and enjoy yourself without worrying about making this a formal affair, while still being able to enjoy quality food. read more

I really went back-and-forth on that rating between a 3 & 4, but settled on a 3 based on my other reviews. Probably more of a 3.5. I visited The Lonely Pine with a few friends for a 40th birthday party. My friend made reservations ahead of time and we were immediately seated when we walked in. The restaurant is somewhat small, so I would strongly recommend making a reservations further out than you might otherwise think. When we were seated, we were also asked if we would like some champagne. I loved this touch and really thought the rest of the evening would be a "5." The food was good, but nothing that really impressed all of us. The service was a "2" and it took the food an incredibly long time to come out. Our group decided on The Lonely Pine due to its proximity to where we were staying for an AirBnB. We live in Cincinnati, so I think I'll make reservations elsewhere for dinner celebrations and steakhouse dinners. read more

This was always one of my favorite steak places. From the quaintness, the welcome Prosecco & the great service and food- I always advocate to go here. It had been at least 6 months since we've gone. I brought a new group of friends to Lonely Pine & was thoroughly disappointment, everything seemed different. All the steaks were undercooked, the butter toppings were just melted cups instead of whipped goodness & salads were very mediocre & the oysters tasted..off. My best friend and I had a very nice dinner at the Lonely Pine. It was my second time here; my friends, first time. We were greeted with the complimentary bubbly, always a nice way to start :). Our server, Tina, was great! She described everything well, our waters were always filled, and she was really nice! We decided on the bone marrow app. It was a nice start to our meal. Scoop the hot marrow right out of the bone and spread it on toasted bread. Yum! We both chose the ribeye cap steak, medium rare. We shared sides of fingerling potatoes and grilled acorn squash. Both the sides were done perfectly and were nice compliments to our protein. We were a bit surprised that the steaks were very lean. Also, they were very rare in the middle so they were very chewy. We should have said something, so that is on us. For a steak restaurant we were surprised at this. However, overall it was a good meal. Especially since there was a happy hour with $1 mini-martinis. Tables for 2 are small, not a lot of room for plates. I had a moscato and he had a sweet tea. We ordered the bread service which was ok, he had an 8 ounce petite tender and I had a 4 ounce. The steak is not a filet mignon but it tasted good. Definitely not as tender as a filet. We ordered the fingerling potatoes and the queso Mac. The potatoes were crispy with a good flavor. My boyfriend has this thing where he wants a steak for his birthday. This year we made reservations here for his celebration. I do not eat steak and have dietary restrictions. I planned to just have a cocktail while he ate his meal but the gentleman who took our reservation assured me that they would have something for me for that night. We got nervous about covid and dining out. We canceled. But the guy who answered the phone said they do take-out! They'll even make a special picnic for you. He was so nice and courteous. The customer service here is fantastic. On my boyfriend's birthday I ordered his meal and a cocktail for me (I felt like requesting a special meal when getting take-out was bad manners). I arrived too early to pick it up. The maitre d (is that the correct title?) gave me complimentary wine to drink while I waited! I'm not a wine person but I was so excited! Free wine! My boyfriend was over the moon about his steak. I had the gin and tonic and, it turns out, I don't like gin and tonics. But I was happy his birthday meal was great and the service could not have been better. Hopefully next year we can eat in. It's a really fun spot.
